Great video John, congratulations on the hogs. You’re definitely in “hog heaven”. Glad you used the Trifecta. I just received mine two weeks ago and WOW, what craftsmanship in these heads. Nice work John, keep the videos coming!
Good to hear. Thank you. Good luck
John, seriously, you need your own TV show.....LOVE your work!
Thanks Scott :)
Watching these videos is better than a TV show. No commercials. 😊
Mr. Lusk sir, you are a great outdoorsman who really has a great deal of knowledge to share. I can only hope to have the ambition and motivation when I'm your age. Thank you for the plethora of videos you share with us!
Thank you for the support and encouragement :)
I really enjoy these hunting videos. Excellent production and as always, perfectly placed shots.
Thank you.
Nice to see you getting out and enjoying some time in the field. It will be 100 real soon soooo ya, enjoy those cool days. 👊🏻
Haha. Not looking forward to that.
BACON SEASON! Congrats John!
Thank you :)
Pretty awesome stuff John. Congratulations on finding a nice place to hunt.
Thanks Mike...not quite like your place in FL though.
Probably one of the best Hog hunting videos I've seen in a while, 😎🏹🐗 Watch those thorns ... 😳
Thank you.
I have that same Sevr broadhead in my hog hunting quiver thanks to your reviews.
Nice!
Nice work. Looks like an awesome time.
It was so fun. Thanks
Field testing is the most fun for sure. Not sure what your camera setting options are, but I have found 4k at 60 frames per second is way better for zoom and slow motion than 1080p at 120 frames per second. 4k gives much better resolution and much better digital zoom capability. You can slow 60 frames per second video down to 30 percent and still be at 18 frames per second which is pretty smooth slow motion video. You can also zoom in a fair amount and go from 4k down to say 1080p and still be at a crisp resolution. Zooming 1080p degrades very quickly. Great harvests on those hogs. Those piglets have amazing camo.
Yeah, I need to make that adjustment. Thanks for the suggestion.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures I have not used Gopro cameras but use Tactacam. I think I saw some setting options for Gopros that were 2.7k at 60 frames per second. That would be an improvement over 1080p and the files wouldn't be as large as 4k. Also my Tactacams can easily over expose on sunny days and I have to turn the EV setting down to minus 1 or minus 2, but remember to turn it back up for before sunrise or after sunset.
Great to see that trifecta work well! Hopefully some
More in the future! Would like to know anout the holes and blood trail as well
Yeah, I'm liking them. I had the 1.5" fixed model nocked as well, but didn't get a chance to send it.
Congrats Mr lusk I love Hogg hunting. It is so fun.
Yes indeed. Thank you
Great hogs! Congratulations!
Thanks Hunter.
I have a pack of three of the Sevr 2.0 125 grain and I’ve never hunted with them. I’m going to use them with my compound this year. That was awesome performance on that hog.
Yeah, they work very well. This was some of the thickest stuff I’ve hunted in and I saw the fixed blades cutting leaves in flight. The Sevr is so sleek it threads a bit easier.

Greet hunt, great shooting, Texas fits you well!
Thank you
Great job working on the hog population - Texas needs some help in that regard. Thank you for putting this video together. Great format
Thank you
With these pigs being problematic, when you encounter a batch of piglets, should you dispatch them?
@@stevemlejnek7073 I would have difficulty dispatching an infant of any type, save a mouse, but given the nature of wild hogs - intelligent, destructive, and prolific breeders - one who is negatively impacted by hogs might consider dispatching piglets when encountering them.
Those piglets are so dang cool looking. Too bad they grow up. Dont have them here where I live so have never hunted them. Looks like a good hunt. Hope your new job is doing great.
Right? I love those tiger stripes on them. Thanks James
Nice job John 👍👍🇺🇸
Thank you
Really cool experience
Thank you.
Love to know how it would hold to or surpass the Tooth of the Arrow vented original heads shoot. I absolutely love the Tooth of the Arrow heads and probably will remain loyal too but would love to see them in the new 2023 protocol. Thanks again Pastor John love watching your testing . Unbelievable how far broadhead manufacturing has come from my first heads in 1978. Three blade satellite heads and they took a lot of deer .
I love the TOTAs and have taken a lot of hogs with them as well. Since I tested them in 2022 and have not changed my protocol, I probably won't test them again...but maybe :)
Awesome video, I miss hunting hog here in Upstate NY. You should retest the Magnus Ser-Razor with your new protocols.
Yeah, I have 3 Magnus tests already completed & scheduled to post.
Awesome fun! I knew it wouldn’t be long before you would be out pig hunting?👍👍
:)
Great stalking John. Way to be patient and get it done!
Thank you Nick.
Awsome…some live testing. I’ve found for spot and stalking hogs here in SC I use the $25 leafy suit to be great. Nothing sees me in that suit.
Nice.
Awesome video 👍
Thanks John.
Good job
Thanks
Very cool! Pork chops for dinner
Right on.
Hey since your in Texas now you should do some collaboration with "the element" guys! Y'all could make some pretty awesome content together and they love the Lord too!
That would be fun.
Great video I ordered some sevr 2.0 a while back can't wait to try them. Can u recommend a good place that's reasonably priced for hog hunting
There are so many places in TX and OK...it's just a matter of finding an opening.
We call them little ones "pocket pigs."
Haha. I thought about it
Great stuff John. Have you ever tried a Tactacam before? They've come A LONG ways since their first models. Your gopro views just make the animals look so far away and tiny.
I could send you my Solo Xtreme if you wanted to try it. They've got some awes image stabilization in it, and can have 3 different zoom levels preset. Tactacam 6.0 is even nicer than the Solo Xtreme.
Thanks. I used to use one and didn’t like the stabilization. But I should look into the latest models.
Nice stalker hunt
Thank you
Those little piglets were kinda cute, all piled up.
Right? They were fun to watch. And I kept hoping they would draw some bigger hogs back.
Those sevr’s are a hard one to beat.
Yeah, especially in super thick cover. They have such a low profile, they don’t hit branches and leaves as much as fixed blades.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures that’s very true, I saw that your trifecta took out a small branch, but still hit the mark.
Great shooting! That looks like a really fun hunt. Is your total arrow weight still about 460 grains or so?
Yep-varies based on the head I’m shooting.
Nice hogs. I’m just surprised there wasn’t any blood with the sevr
Well, it was caked with blood, only went 15 yards, and then piled up. There was a lot of blood underneath it.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures I bet. I use those sevrs after your review on them and have seen crazy blood trails after shooting deers. I just was surprised to not see it on video. But nonetheless, when they pile up after 15ysrds, there’s no need for a blood trail
Good deal
Thank you
cool footage. are you on public land or did you score some private land in TX?
This was private. But I’ve been hunting on public as well, a couple times. But haven’t had an opportunity for a shot there yet
North east Texas hunter here
Yep...that's more accurate :)
Texas pork chops! Mmm good!
:)
What did u do with the piglets after drilling the mother by accident?
I didn’t drill the mother. She ran off when I drilled one next to her. I left them there. The next day, there were two more hogs with them.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures seems to be full of them there anyway.... Good man.
Nice! I’ve heard a lot of guys complaining about the Sevr breaking bands, and accidentally coming over while walking through brush or just in the quiver. Has that been an issue for you?
That happened to me on one very long belly crawl in Alaska, with a nocked arrow, causing the blade to open. But that only happening that one time over hundreds of miles of walking thru woods with a nocked arrow is pretty good.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures thanks for the reply
@@gatreeguy6711 Sure :)
Happy with the entry, exit and blood trail with the trifecta?
Yes...especially the entry and exit. I've taken 2 hogs with them and the blood trails were based on where I hit them. They have a wider cut than most 2 blades, and rotate very well and are very thick...but they'll cut less tissue than a larger 3 or 4 blade or mech.
👍
Thank you
I’m kind of surprised that it didn’t appear to have much, if any of a blood trail from the Sevr. Did you see any particular reason why?
It’s because it was caked in mud and only went 15 yds. There was a lot of blood under it, where it fell.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures that definitely makes sense. I had already decided to shoot the Robusto for deer hunting this year out of my crossbow. My current set up with a 150 grain tip launches a 476 grain arrow at 385 ft./s and it should hit like a hammer.
SEVR I OWN SOME ROBUSTO'S NOT VERY SHARP FROM FACTORY HARD TO DISASSEMBLE REASSEMBLE AND SHARPEN!! I HAVE THE PROPER SHARPENING DEVICE SANDPAOER WAX ETC, THEY DO SHARPEN BUT HARD TO WORK WITH.
They’re plenty sharp to be lethal, but could definitively be sharper. They’re working on that. They do hold their edge very well, which is even more important than initial sharpness. Super thin edges get lost as soon as they hit hide
@@LuskArcheryAdventures neither extreme is acceptable. They sell sharpeners for a reason, don't you think? If they won't cut my skin calluses out of box not Sharp enough. I told about that 2 years ago. Going back to 3 blade fixed easy to sharpen with angled hone.
Tell me you ate the piglets?
I ate em
:) I didn't...but thought about it. I've put them on a spit grill before and they were mighty tasty.
What quiver are you using?
Tightspot. It’s a model sold by Sevr. I did a vid review of it in January of this year
Do you use tick spray
I did not on this hunt, but I do later in the season.
What is the weight of ur arrow and speed of setup
450 gr; 278 fps
What happened to the piglets?
I sat near them hoping another hog would come in. But none did. Then I went back the next day and from a distance, thru my Binos, saw a hog sitting on top of them. But I didn’t have time for another stalk.
Im having issues finding people to let me hog hunt with a bow. Most offer only gun hunts and mostly at night. Im willing to go anywhere in the south. Anyone know of someone or good public land ? Thanks
Yeah, that is many places. But there are a lot of excellent hog hunting ranches, during the day, with a bow: Shiloh Ranch, Salt Fork Ranch, Hunter's Creek Ranch, Twin Boars Outdoors, etc.
I’d ice to d that someday with my Mathews and my Tikka
:)
Hate to see those piglets left to starve. If you wanted the pack to come back just pick one up and get it to squeal. But be ready to climb a tree..
Yeah, I did that...but nothing came in. I'm guessing they will eventually come back.
gather up the young bacon seeds and build a pen.
That's a good idea :)
