I replied in another video that this song was a fav of me and my girl when we would be cruising in my 57 Chevy listening to the radio . That was effortless for him. Every girl/woman wanted to be the one he was singing about. Yes, he had beautiful blue eyes. And a live performance before auto-tuned. Thanks for your reaction and appreciation.
From the first time I heard him perform this song I truly believed no one else would be able to do it as well. 60+ years later, I still think the same. Unique.
I am 81 and have heard several artist before Bobby’s version and several after. No one comes close to this, Bobby owns it. This version came out as I was headed for Viet Nam. You can feel the loneliness in the words and the way we felt as we were away from our families for one long year. Bill and Bobby always did one solo on each of there albums and while on tour. They both wanted to do “Unchained”, so they flipped a coin. The music was written as the theme for the little-known prison film “Unchained” (January 1955), hence the song title. Todd Duncan sang the vocals for the film soundtrack. It has since become a standard and one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century, most notably by the Righteous Brothers. The movie “Unchained” is about a man in prison and longing for his wife and children. Hoping his wife will still be there when he gets out. So you can now understand the meaning of the song. The movie was not very good, or so my friends told me. But we were all teenagers so what did we now. Several artists sang it and it made the billboard top 100. But no one can come close to Bobby Hatfield’s version. Bobby’s version hit the top ten chart. And did it again when it was used in the movie “Ghost” It has since become a standard and one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century, most notably by Bobby. According to the song's publishing administrator, over 1,500 recordings of "Unchained Melody" have been made by more than 670 artists, in multiple languages.

No electronic tricks with this guy.... Just him, an orchestra and his voice without autotuners and other technical tricks from a recording studio. The story I heard from this performance was that his mother and sister were in the audience listening to him for the first time in a concert situation so he was well motivated to turn in a great performance. Dear Frenchie Marie, I was so charmed to watch the expression on your face and your body language as this great performance by Bobby Hatfield mesmerizes your young womanly soul ! Your expression is for me as wonderful as the song itself !
I just watched a lovely french girl get swept off of her feet. All of your reactions from the pink suit to his good looks were subtle in the beginning and then I think you vaguely recognized the song. Most authentic first reaction of all the Unchained Melody clips on UA-cam. You were captivated, engulfed, mesmerized, a deer in the headlights surprised at what you were watching. I loved it
The expressions in your face and eyes say it all. 55 years later and Bobby's still got them swooning. ( Because nobody can sing that song like that ! )
I love seeing young women reacting to the crooners from my era. Back then, you didn't go onstage without dressing up. And, as others have already said, no autotune, just beautiful voices and talent.
Just a simple song. But this guy is singing it like it’s the end of the world and he’s singing it to the only woman that’s ever mattered to him. Perfect. It’s the only word to describe it.
It is definitely not a easy song to sing. His voice goes so smoothly and effortlessly up and down with various techniques. But every word is loud and crystal clear. Of course the music and lyrics are simple but super romantic. It is a timeless gem.
Quite possibly the best love song ever recorded. I've heard other versions, but the Righteous Brothers' version is my favorite. Bobby Hatfield's vocal acrobatics have been leaving people speechless for decades. Great reaction.
I understand your feeling. I’m in my 70’s and this song stills brings a tear to my eyes thinking of my love for my wife. This song just does it for me like no other.
I sang this song at my aunts wedding and everyone went crazy I totally messed up the high part but still the roof came down. This is an amazing song. Great reaction

YES!!!!!!My favorite French Fry has found the Righteous Brothers👍👍😁😁👍👍i wasnt yet a teenager when they became popular and their songs have stayed with me all these years.a music critic once said their voices were silk(bobby hatfield, you just heard him) and thunder(bill medley, wait to you hear him) and together they were perfect.two songs you need to hear: you lost that loving feeling,it was the most requested song on American radio for the entire 20 th century. And Soul and Inspiration,by far my favorite love song of all time.dear your english is just fine and if you cant find the right word your joy expresses your feelings perfectly.cant wait to see your next reaction to these guys😊😊😊😊.stay safe, stay healthy
You joined millions of women in their reaction to Bobby. I was 24 and a mother of two in 1964 and I was overwhelmed by his presence and presentation. He was fabulous. All women fell in love with him! 🥰
Your reaction to Bobby is wonder-full. Your face tells us more than words ever could. I am very pleased you found this song and shared your feelings with us. It is as if, to paraphrase Shakespeare, you have "unclasped to thee the book even of my secret soul". You speak excellent American english and there are many who have the same difficulty finding the correct word to express what his version of this song makes them feel, both male and female. I was lucky enough to see the Righteous Brothers in person several times in small clubs in Southern Calif. while I was in college and every time ,if you went with a girl, there was a good chance she would stop paying any attention to you while they were performing :) Nevertheless, they were always thankful you had taken them and that isn't a bad way to start a relationship :) It is good to know there are people like yourself who are discovering their music and the feelings it engendered to us in the sixties and still does. Proving once again that we have more in common with each other than we have differences. Thank you for sharing your reaction with us. If you ever stumble for an English word , give us the French word and we might learn something and let you know what a good English version might be.
What can one even say. Bobby Hatfield along with Bill Medley as The Righteous Brothers were a gold standard on to themselves. No autotune or a bank of electronic enhancement hidden behind the curtain ... simply a combined force of nature.
She need not express her reaction to this beautiful classic with words . . . Her eyes and facial expressions during the performance says it all! Loved it!
You just can't hide French Passion! 1 was 14 yrs old when I first heard this song, and in front of my friends, I tried to hide how much it moved me Boys just didn't show soft emotion back in my day. Now when we talk (those of us who are left) we can readily admit how beautifully emotional this song is and you showed it without saying a word! Great Video and thanks for the memory. Kevin O'Rourke
He not only stole your mental faculties for a moment, FT, he took your breath away it seems! A honey-ed voice full of deep emotions, an effortless delivery, pure talent. He hypnotized you!
Sometimes I forget how old I am and how young everybody else is. When I first heard the Righteous Brothers when I was in college, unmarried, and 22 years old. It was 1965. Undoubtedly, you hadn't yet been born. I loved this and a whole lot of other songs from that era. So, that was 55 years ago. I guess myself and others my age kind of took it for granted that it was great. Watching the reactions to this music from people as young as you makes me realize it was more than that. It was timeless.
Yes, completely agree. I was 19 in 1965, but feel very lucky that I experienced music from the mid-fifties through the seventies, a time of incredible performers and performances. I'm sure there is great music in every era, but that was certainly a golden age of popular music. I hope more people of the more recent generations go back and find all those classics.
I think this song left you speechless!! That's a good thing!!You felt very moved and touched by this song!! Your reaction....priceless!! Love it!! Good job French girl!!
He sang it so effortlessly.... it's a stunning performance.... exactly how I felt for my wife on the ramp-up to our wedding.... incredible song! His falsetto extended his vocal range.... it's is the best I've ever heard.
Mesmerized? He does envelope you in the beauty of his song, sound, and charm. I was fortunate to live as a young girl /teenager in the 60s and was privileged to hear and see many of the artists and groups you are now discovering. It brings me a lot of joy to reminisce. Thank you!
The shining of your eyes, and your expressions while you listened, were more than eloquent, you were saying things which there are no words for in any tongue.
The righteous Brothers are one of the greatest things to ever happen to music. When Bill putting all of his power and soul into a song then Bobby hits one of those insane high notes it is nothing less than magic.
You have just been swooned by one of the best voices ever, the late Bobby Hatfield. For many young ladies over the last 55 years ,there were no words for what they felt inside. You were perfect.
Hauntingly beautiful song, lyrics are lovely, with his voice, you feel like you are floating downriver to the sea. I've always loved the Righteous Brothers.
There's no need to search for the words you're trying to find. We, from that generation know exactly how you feel because we felt that way when we, the older people, felt the same way. Love it!
Words not required. The various expressions on your lovely face said it all. You were obviously very moved while watching Bobby’s incredible performance.
It's fascinating to see your reaction to watching/hearing this for the first time when I've known it since the day he performed it and have listened to it possibly hundreds of times since then.
I had fun one afternoon watching different reactors respond to this song. The most honest response at the end was stunned silence. Forget commentary. That performance was perfect. Your initial reaction showed a real appreciation of music. His performance was breath-taking, literally.
Your reaction is like I've never felt this way before and I don't know how to express it. It was like the love for him and his performance goes beyond my ability for verbal expression...
What a delight to see your reaction! The Righteous Brothers were before my time, but I had their album in High School, and I think they are two of the most romantic singers of all time. It is so amazing to see a French woman who comes from the most Romantic Country of the world acknowledge the absolute beauty of American romance too. Thank you for watching this with us :)

From the first moment she sees him, she's like, he's attractive...as soon as he starts to sing...her jaw and eyes 👀 😍 🤭👍⭐🦋🌺
You were entranced by the beauty of his musical delivery
I'm 74 yrs old and never get tired listening to him sing this beautiful song. I was 15 yrs old when I watched him sing this beautiful song on the Andy Williams show in 1965. I still have their vinyl record albums. I play their greatest hits CD in my car. So many memories when I was growing up. They had so many hits! 💖
Dear Frenchie Marie, I was so charmed to watch the expression on your face and your body language as this great performance by Bobby Hatfield mesmerizes your young womanly soul ! Your expression is for me as wonderful as the song itself !
You need to do You've Lost Thst Lining Feeling. You will love Bils bass and Bobby's tenor. Most of their songs arent live but this one is.
I loved it
You have officially been “swooned” and enraptured by a love song.
I was just checking comments to see if anyone did bring out "swooned."
Best way to put it
Bobby's voice caresses the listener like VERY FEW singers can! I am devastated every time I hear this performance! I am not alone!
Greatest love song ever. I get cold chills each time I watch him sing this.
Everyone has the same feeling. One of the greatest songs every written. His name is Bobby Hatfield. He was 25 yrs old at the time.
I didn't realize he was singing it to anyone.
It is definitely not a easy song to sing. His voice goes so smoothly and effortlessly up and down with various techniques. But every word is loud and crystal clear. Of course the music and lyrics are simple but super romantic. It is a timeless gem.
This song created so many babies.
probably you are one of them ! Thank your parents and God !!
her reaction at 1:36 is how _every_ woman reacts to this
It's still a panty dropper.
😂
It's scientifically proven to cause instant ovulation......
I can't think of a singer that has his control, range, and ease of delivery as Bobby Hatfield. This is a great rendition
Quite possibly the best love song ever recorded. I've heard other versions, but the Righteous Brothers' version is my favorite.
Bobby Hatfield's vocal acrobatics have been leaving people speechless for decades. Great reaction.
Exactly you know you are doing it right. When you blow Elvis' version of the same love song out of the water. It's not even close.
Maria,
Keep in mine that this just Bobby and an orchestra. No explosion, auto-tune. Just one of the best LOVE songs ever period.
I agree with Danika. Your facial expressions said more than any words could say. Thank you!
I tear up watching how much you love these songs. The Righteous Brothers were really big during this time.
I understand your feeling. I’m in my 70’s and this song stills brings a tear to my eyes thinking of my love for my wife. This song just does it for me like no other.
It's always priceless to see people listening to this song the first time being left speechless, unable to properly express their emotions. 😁😁😁
Me too. Old enough to hear the real deal. Loved him!!!!!
I sang this song at my aunts wedding and everyone went crazy I totally messed up the high part but still the roof came down. This is an amazing song. Great reaction
Reactions may be expressed in words, but they are also expressed in ... expression of the face. Yours is very sweet and lovely. Before the song was half finished, we knew your heart. Wonderful reaction video. Cheers.
At a time when men are given so many labels, this is a song Real Men understand and try to express to their Better Half. It’s wonderful because it’s real, genuine and with unabashed honesty.
Next from them - You've Lost That Loving Feeling.
ua-cam.com/video/uOnYY9Mw2Fg/v-deo.html Live performance.
Yes! Then "Soul and Inspiration" because it's flat-out amazing, too.
This. We all want you, Frenchtastiiic, to react to BOTH Righteous Brothers, don't we?
joemercury100, I think they missed the irony, lol.
1 was 14 yrs old when I first heard this song, and in front of my friends, I tried to hide how much it moved me
Boys just didn't show soft emotion back in my day. Now when we talk (those of us who are left) we can readily admit how beautifully emotional this song is and you showed it without saying a word! Great Video and thanks for the memory.

Bobby Hatfield" words cannot describe him " for he's in a league of his own" so so unique so talented and a real ladies man and music legend ".
He not only stole your mental faculties for a moment, FT, he took your breath away it seems! A honey-ed voice full of deep emotions, an effortless delivery, pure talent. He hypnotized you!
I think you can see the exact moment when this lovely girl fell in love with the singer here. And no one would blame her
Sometimes I forget how old I am and how young everybody else is.
From the USA great job talking and loving unchained melody Bobby is one of the best of the best. Great job presenting it.
It's fascinating to see your reaction to watching/hearing this for the first time when I've known it since the day he performed it and have listened to it possibly hundreds of times since then.
What a wonderful reaction; thank-you.
I had fun one afternoon watching different reactors respond to this song. The most honest response at the end was stunned silence. Forget commentary. That performance was perfect. Your initial reaction showed a real appreciation of music. His performance was breath-taking, literally.
Das music und their passion then was much different than now for sure. :-)
I have much doubt we will ever witness such passion in music again.
Great choice of a song to react to. One of the most beautiful songs ever recorded. Music used to be beautiful.
Girl the smile and the sparkle in your eyes says it all!...
