Thanks! I've heard this 1000 times, but it was made so much more pleasurable by watching all of you react - can I add you are an incredibly beautiful group of people.
Yes you can!
Thank you so much , I really appreciate a lot 🙏🏽❤️
Same. I love the song and he was such a great singer but I was looking at these people and thought how beautiful they all are!
Thats exactly what I thought a stunningly beautiful family your blessed and with that song sung by him is like a magical spell makes you forget the bad stuff for a bit, please Keep making people smile 💖
You all are outright beautiful!
You are absolutely right. Seeing their reaction you can really see the moving emotion that shines through them. I would love to see them in their mothers reaction to princess song. Damn U.
This was 1965. No auto tunes. Just a 25 year old young man singing live on TV with is mom in the audience. Well groomed. You can understand every word and the audience is sitting respectfully quiet just taking it all in. Hundreds of artists have recorded this song but NOBODY did it as well as Bobby Hatfield. Bobby passed away in 2003. Bill Medley was still performing at the time the pandemic hit. RIP Bobby.
It's one of the most beautiful songs ever written. My parents had this song sung at their wedding in 1955.
Actually I Heard the Original sung by the Original singer in the movie the song came from. While it is not an "Orchestrated" performance, the simplicity of the Guitar playing and the man singing is emotional. The Man who sang it was Todd Duncan. He was the First person to ever sing the song. It is too bad he never made an actual recording outside of the movie.
I met the pair of them, briefly, a few weeks before Bobby died; gentlemen, both.
The movie is forgotten but the song lives on.
The year I was born❣️🤗
I was 15/16 when this was was released. This is the quality of music we were gifted with back then. No auto correct fine tuning what you got on the record was what you got in a live performance. Real artists one and all. Now anyone can be a music star!
I like the way Bobby smiles at the end and puts his teeth on his lower lip for a minute. He knew that he nailed it. Here we are six decades later still loving it.
It was also because his mom was in the audience and he was nervous that he may not be able to hit the final note but he did in fact nail it!
@@fitfogey We are so lucky that video was preserved. Didn't know his Mom was there. Thanks for that tidbit.
He nailed it, all right! Excellent performance and no matter how many times I listen to the performance, it still gives me the chills.
100% agree
@@ginnymurray1869
His Mom was in the audience and he also had a cold!
And he nailed the song!
This is the single greatest solo vocalist performance ever recorded. He was flawless.
Yes. That audience witnessed vocal perfection and a forever masterpiece.
💯 true!!!
He was indeed. I have never seen anyone do it better. That said, Austin Brown from Home Free does this song on his personal UA-cam channel, and to my mind it is the only version that equals the great Bobby Hatfield.
And white
@@muzzlevelocity4397 Roy Orbison and Andy Williams were more pure vocally but Bobby's more preferred.
This was a live performance. No gimmicks. And he had a cold. His mom was in the audience and he really wanted to do well. Immortal.
Today they would have called it COVID not a cold
How come everytime someone does a great vocal performance someone on UA-cam always say that the person "had a cold" or something similar. It can still be a great performance even if the person was feeling great. I call bull****.
You can tell he has a cold. His voice is nasally a bit. It is still incredible. Every upper respiratory infection is not Covid.
Want to hear how high his voice can get. Listen to him sing. Ebb Tide.
@@grunta4437
No ridiculous fool.
Covid and the common cold are both Coronaviruses but they are completely different from each other, the same way that a house cat and a cougar are both felines but one can be deadly.
A common cold doesn't cause you to develop deadly blood clots in limbs and organs, including the brain.
A cold doesn't cause pneumonia,
extreme fever,
the complete loss of the sense of taste,
multiple organ failures, etc and death.
The stupidity and ignorance of some people boggles the mind... looking at you.
Bobby sings it like he means it. You can hear it in his voice and see it in his face. Bravo Bobby Hatfield for leaving us this masterpiece. May you RIP.
No one sings like he did. Amazing
It's really sad to think that Bobby Hatfield died alone from Cocaine Poisoning
@@tonydawson8929 not 100% accurate; not saying there wasn't cocaine in his system but it was documented he had a diagnosed heart condition.
His story goes that his parents were in the audience that night and he was really nervous about being able to reach that final very high note, and that he was so happy and relieved when he did it that that was why he bit his lip at the very end. Wonderful watching you watching your mom!
Thank you 😊
Such a legend. Beautiful, beautiful voice.
He was nervous with his family in the audience, not about hitting any note. That final note is well within his range, nothing he would stress about. Why would he attempt to sing a note on a nation-wide TV show that he was uncertain about hitting?! If you are uncertain about it, just skip it rather than making a fool of yourself in living color and coast to coast. If you watch him perform, he often bit his lip. Bill did too even when speaking. It's just general nervousness from being on stage.
What ever reason Bobby bit his lip for just makes me melt every single time.
@@lisajames3359 He's just adorable.
How small this world is, that a family on the other side of the world melts from a teenage heartthrob 50 years ago from the other side of the world ❤
This is what is called blue eyed soul. No autotune no backing track No Anything except pure talent. You're mom was in heaven. Thank you for inviting us into your home to watch the reaction. You have A gorgeous family.
This makes me so emotional - his voice and his lovely handsome face from a time gone by. Unparalleled.
Was 15 when this was on the Andy Williams TV show.
Teared up then and every time since. Live, pure talent. No extras needed.
Bobby Hatfield OWNS this song and Always Will.
This song always makes me cry, it's absolutely the most heartfelt song with pure emotion.
You're damned right he does.
I was 16 at the time and this song was always my favorite Righteous Brothers song. I turn 74 on January 14, but whenever I hear this it's like hearing it again for the first time and I'm 16 once again. And on this night Dec. 8, which I am composing this comment 42 years ago at around this same time of night in New York City 9:30 or so in 1980 Mark David Chapman shot John Lennon seven times in his chest and back in front of the Dakota Apartments where he and Yoko lived and thus murdered him. Lennon was 40 years old all that time back and earlier in the day had given Chapman who had a copy of "Catcher in the Rye" in his possession his autograph which he had written on a copy of his "Double Fantasy" album. For many of us who grew up loving the Beatles' music that was really one of the days the music died.
A masterpiece was created that day.
Pure talent no gimmicks
Amazing
This is undoubtedly the greatest song of this type ever recorded.
Bobby Hatfield's voice was cosmically unreal. I've lost count of how many times I've heard this song but never fail to be moved. Music has never been better.
What a young looking family this is!! And such smiles.
Thank You 😊
All
You know, it’s not just talent, it’s heart. Beautiful. No wonder the ladies are so taken by this song and Bobby’s performance.
This my dear is " blue eyed" soul of the 60s & 70s. It delivers soul stirring emotions because the artist could make Anyone feel the love.Missing it terribly now days.
Just keep in mind- this is a live performance
My favorite all time singer. There will never, ever, be another Bobby Hatfield. No one will ever sing this song the way Bobby did. This one belongs to only him.
I agree with you 100%. Many have and will try, but never ever be better than Bobby.
Some people love music ; and some people feel music. Some do both. Enjoyed watching this with y’all
Gorgeous family. Beautiful song, who doesn't like it? Nobody!
When Mom said anytime you hear good music, even an old music will sound new/fresh - It's exactly how I feel about this particular song and some other classic songs too. Lovely reaction!❤
Thank You so much 😊❤️
One of, if not THE best love ballad every performed by mankind. No autotune in those days, just reliance on sheer talent. I challenge anyone to hear this and not feel the emotions welling up, no matter how many times you've heard it; if not, you have lost your humanity.
This song is considered one of the greatest test for raw talent skill and artistry for singers. It is a lot more complicated than most folks realize and it swiftly exposes any faults, mistakes, and etc for any singer more so that most songs.
I am 74 and this was the most popular song when I graduated in '66. It brings back such wonderful memories. Bobby was the best.
I lived around the block from Bill Medley who drove past in his red Ferrari. Neighbor kid told me who it was. I couldn't believe it. I graduated in '67.
@@robertcope9494 I graduated in ‘68, remember my brother coming out of the Army, from Germany….he had this on his reel to reel tape player😂…,I played , EBB TIDE, at my brothers funeral, as the Righteous Brothers was one of his favorites
That was a live performance, straight up, on national TV. No retakes, no auto tune, no nothing. Just Bobby Hatfield's pure talent. Many have recorded this song before and since, but none - ever - as good as this version. RIP, Bobby.
The greatest performance in history .
Bobby still melting hearts ❤
No auto tune, just pure talent. R.I.P.
What a beautiful family you all are! I think that song really touches everyone's heart; I really loved watching your Mother's sincere, heartfelt reaction!
Such a beautiful mom so blessed to be able to be here to watch her reaction
I can picture her thinking, "Oh lord what are these kids doing to me?"
Seeing her eyes light up and that smile, can see she is loving it
THIS RIGHT HERE IS RAW, REAL TALENT ❤🎙🎶
NO DAMN VOICE
OVERS
This song was recorded in ONE take, the singer thought he might have messed up a couple times and said he could do it better but everyone else disagreed and said it was PERFECT ... I agree.
Oh wow, hello from New Zealand 🇳🇿, your mums reaction made me cry!! My mum loved this song it was from way before I was born. Bring your mum back for more reactions!!
Nice looking family. Glad you like the Righteous Brothers. I grew up on them and many other greats.
Yeah, thank you 😊
It's incredible how this great music has continued to move people over all these years ❤️
This was my mom and dad's song. He was a career US Navy officer, and they spend many months apart, over the 27 years of his career. They are dancing to this in heaven now.
@ 1:52, MOM finally releases her mind to the healing & melody of the song. She let's herself being swept away. This is a good cultural video. Thank you.
Music truly trancends all barriers.
I love the Elvis version for sentimental reasons and it is my 2nd favorite version, but Bobby’s is just perfection. It is what heaven sounds like
Always get chill bumps when I hear him singing this song.
You will never see a performance like this ever again!
I love this. Thank you 😊
It’s a pleasure ❤️❤️
WHAT A GREAT FAMILY . 😊 (greetings from the netherlands)
That’s pure singing at its best
There is more songs by The Righteous Brothers one of them is called You Lost That Loving Feeling and also soul and inspiration and also Rock and Roll Heaven all three of those songs are real good
RIP BOBBY HATFIELD. You are missed
To me as I get older time ZOOMS by it's not slow. Love this song great reaction especially MOM!
this performance was the first time that his parents were in the audience also the smile at the end was from someone who new that they had nailed it
That man reached into a woman's soul and showed her to the world.
Beautiful Mom- Kids look after such a Gift- I will be watching now.
Thank You so much. This means a lot to me 😢❤❤❤
God Bless You🙏🏽❤️
This ever is one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded.
Unchained Melody is definitely a tear jerker.
Look at everyone grinning eventually! The gentle strings make this beautiful ballad so tearjerking. I think even the young man (brother?) gets it !!
A bearded maN IN HIS 30s, bald head, sat in working class Wales, winter, in the bath tub, weeping like a newborn at how beautiful this song is 😅
ABSOLUTE MOOD
I love watching people react to this song, it always stirs emotion x
His Mother was in the audience and he wanted to do a good job. It's great that you also have your Mother watching.❤
I'm SO glad that you guys loved it! You should watch him sing "Summertime". It's outstanding! You should also watch the brothers sing "Soul and Inspiration" & "you've lost that loving feeling". You'll love it.
Thank you so much for recommending Summertime! It's amazing!!
@@motherbhaerbear3807 Play EBB TIDE, beautiful medley
The violins come in...1:11 Great music never gets old and the orchestra was great too! Nice reaction!
This was very sweet to watch, thank you 😊 🙏
It’s a pleasure ❤️❤️
White Appalachian here...when I was a little boy, I wanted to be able to speak and sing just like this guy! All the songs in the car were from the 50's and 60's....some gospel was even earlier than that. GREAT MUSIC! I had NO idea that black ppl loved the same music I did!! Thanks for sharing! :)
This was my parents " song" They played every anniversary. I now 65 and that shows you how long this song has stood the test of time. P. S. You are a very handsome family.
This is real music,👌. Looks like they just got a new fan👍
The late great 'Bobby Hatfield' Tenor voice of the 'Righteous Brothers.' Sung this back in (1965) on the 'Andy Williams Show.' His performance of 'Unchained Melody' composed by the great Academy Award winning composer 'Alex North' with Lyrics by 'Hy Zaret.' Is considered one of the greatest 'Live' television performances of all time.
The song 'Unchained Melody' was written for the (1955) prison movie 'Unchained.' First sung by African American actor and Opera singer Todd Duncan for the (1955) movie. He also played a prisoner in the movie and sang the song in the film. The rest as they say is history.
THE SMILES ON YOUR FACES SAYS IT ALL!!! Bobby Hatfield WAS truly... SOMETHING VERY, VERY, VERY SPECIAL! There will NEVER be another like him ever again... Kinda sad when you think about it. God TRULY Blessed him!!!
I loved the Righteous Brothers music so much back in the 60's when I was around 13-14. Some of the songs did relate the Vietnam War so some did speak about wait for me etc. So very happy the younger generations over the years also find comfortable meaning to music 60 years old.
superb performance totally faultless and live no autocue, Another of their hits is you lost that loving feeling worth a listen
Thank You, I’ve done a reaction to loving feeling and it was totally amazing ❤️
Nice that you loved this song so much that you wanted to share it with your mam.
Thank You
I could listen to this song again again what a national treasure the righteous brothers are
The music of the period was very romantic. I miss the innocence.😢
Love the Righteous Brothers!
Music really does unite all walks of life. Let there be songs to fill the air.
What a beautiful mother and family. This performance by the great Bobby Harfield has never been equaled. Heavenly.
What an attractive family. The genetics are off the chart. Your family's smiles are remarkable. Is it your family or your nation's culture? Beautiful family! This comment is from a 75 year-old Caucasian/Native American grandfather.
this song makes me cry inevitably
After recording at studio n on way home he call his partner Bill Medley( baritone) n said "we need to go back to studio n I have a great idea for the ending of this song n hitting those last high notes really put the icing on the cake it made this song come alive Bobby was a great tenor. Most women can't hit Bobby's last note. I met Bill when he was on a tour after Bobby died( 2003) He is still singing in his 80's. I never got to meet Bobby but I can still enjoy his voice. I'm old now but their music keeps me young.Three more favorites of mine that you will love" You've Lost That Loving Feeling" "You'll Never Stand Alone" n Soul n "Inspiration " Thank you for keeping their music alive Loved the reaction Keep the videos coming
When I was like 3, I remember my grandmother picking me up and dancing around her kitchen with me to this song. I've loved it ever since.
Whenever I hear great music, I get these waves of chills/goosebumps flowing through me. Anyone else know what I mean?
I can’t get over how beautiful this family is first of all
Beautiful song. Beautiful Family. Beautiful reaction!
Love to see young folks loving this music.
This is a Righteous Brothers song, but that's Bobby Hatfield singing solo. Perfect pitch, in spite of having a cold, and nerves because his mom was in the audience. He was just amazing!
Too often today duplicitous people are trying to get all of us to focus on our differences instead of the fact that we are all far more alike than we are different. Your excellent reaction video shows the great power of music to breeze right past that garbage and unite all of us. Thank you for sharing this moment with the world! Lastly, Austin Brown does an excellent version of this song on his personal UA-cam channel. He is a singer with a group called Home Free, and he is the only one that I have heard whom I believe does this song as well as Bobby Hatfield.
I have no idea who she is in the black leather jacket, but she is one of the most beautiful women on earth, and her mom knows it too. Wonderful song and wonderful people, thank you for letting me share this experience with your family.
One of my favorite classic songs. Many blessings from the USA.
My husband and I had the pleasure of seeing the righteous Brothers and Knoxville Tennessee back in the 90s when he sang this song I had chills and tears
Such a BEAUTIFUL family❤
Beautiful family! Great to watch people that love music!
Just beautiful. What a voice, goosebumps again like I did in '65
Hi from Texas. So glad you liked it. I grew up with this music and it pleases my heart that it's still bringing pleasure to others, so many years later!
What sweet kids that love their mama! God bless you all!
Beautiful song and a beautiful family.
Family of lovely smiles. 🥰
So glad you all enjoyed he did a wonderful job 👏 👏👏👏 just pure talent l-ive performance no editing 💕💕💕
Thank You 😊
Mom is falling in love!
When I's a child in the 60s most people had small like radio's or big ones that had to warm up before they'd play but the whole holler listened to same radio stations and you could hear that type of music right there all day long and the outside air, music, flowers and fruit trees and everything was so refreshing and I always thought that life would always be thataway...There's alot more than that song that just lifts you up and seems to make things so much better. Now turn on a radio and watch what happens lol..I miss the days and I miss the music and the scent of flowers and fruit trees in the air. God bless all and keep listening cause music was so good back in those days...God bless you all ❤❤❤
Some of us didn't realize how beautiful the music was, we do now!!! I was born in 57, I love this music!! 😇😇😇
Lovely family! Thank you so much for sharing such a genuine and delightful reaction.
It’s also said, he was unwell, in this performance. Unbelievable talent. 👍🏴
I was blessed to grow up listening to true talent. I feel sorry for young people now a day's they will never experience this in current society
