This song has been sung by hundreds of people but none sings it better than Bobby Hatfield. The studio version featured in the film 'Ghost' was great but this live version is stupendous. He had a cold, his mother was in the audience listening to him sing professionally for the first time and he suffered with stage fright. It's really bittersweet that Bobby chose his music over the professional baseball career he could have had. Had he chosen baseball, he might still be with us, but then we would not have his hauntingly beautiful music to listen to. Bobby truly did have the voice of an angel, mesmerizing, addictive, and just a pure joy to listen to. I could not chose a favorite from all his solos as they are all amazing. He will always be my favorite male singer and the owner of this song. There really never will be another Bobby! If you want to hear more of Bobby, listen to I Love You (For Sentimental Reasons) or Only You, or Stay With Me, or My Prayer, or Crying in the Chapel, or For Your Love, or Ebb Tide...just to name a few!
I'll always have a place in my heart for the Righteous Brothers. I used their song "Soul and Inspiration" to break out of the friend zone with my sister's best friend. It was the early 80's, and with the help of some friends, I got her to the middle of the roller skating rink. From there I sang "Soul and Inspiration" to her, it way the scariest but one of the best times of my life. Sadly, she passed in 2014 from cancer, but with very few regrets. We knew love that is extremely rare these days.
This young lady is probably the best love song ever and with a singer who has a pure honest voice, no machines to make it sound good he sing's from the heart. Bobby Hatfield is who that is.His story is tragic but he left us with a song that has touched the hearts of billions and stood the test of time. His counterpart is Bill Medley that formed the group the Righteous Brothers. Loved your reaction. Here's a kind of request, watch the movie Ghost with Patrick Swayze and you'll get to the scene that plays this song and it will have you in tears.
This is a LIVE performance - in 1964 - before there was auto tune and other computer-assists for tone quality. This is just pure, raw talent. He sings this and goes through his 3 octave range tenor with ease, effortlessly and so smooth! Bobby (RIP) owns this song. Arguably the greatest live solo performance of all time.
OMG, the late Bobby Hatfield! I was 15 yrs old when I watched him sing this beautiful song on the Andy Williams show in 1965. He was so awesome and handsome! We fell in love with the Righteous Brothers music. You need to listen to their other hits. They had no auto tunes, just pure raw talent! I have all of their vinyl record albums in my collection. ❤❤❤
I remember when I was in high school and this song was all over the radio after Ghost came out. But the Righteous Brothers weren't getting any royalties from the original version. So they re&recorded it and put out a greatest hits album. And BOTH versions were on the charts at the same time. Pretty phenomenal.
I love your wonderful emotional reaction. Such a vocal range and there is no pitch correction or lip syncing. This was real unadulterated pure talent. You should check out more of the 60's stuff. You will appreciate it so much.
My girlfriend went to a Righteous Brothers show in Vegas with her mother when she was around 30 years old. Bill Medley came down and took her out of the audience (with her mother grabbing at her and saying "Let me go"). 😂He took her up onstage and sung a love song to her. Yes, she was/IS that beautiful.
I loved your reaction to this. Many people don't understand how some of us feel music spiritually and emotionally. They are the ones that are truly missing out when it comes to music
They were playing outside a military base in Alabama and during the concert someone said wow that's righteous brother and that's where they got their name. I think this was one of the most prominent Tunes played on the radio during the 1960s and that was a wonderful reaction much peace and love🌿💔
Tão especial a forma como Bobby cantar a quente e suave tonalidade e textura da sua voz contratenor… é o que te fez sentir embalada e encantada , uma voz sem esforço e expressão serena e sorridente. Adorei ❤ ! Ebb Tide, You’ll never walk alone, a dolorosa Stay with me … todas com o carimbo único e inigualável.
I just bumped into you for the first time yesterday, Aileen, though I spend an hour or two every night watching contemporary folks react to the music to which I grew up. And contrary to your supposition, you were making perfect sense in sharing how this music touched you. I'm happy to be among your newest subscribers. Keep up the good work. ❤ ✌️
I am a Boomer . I am so glad I grew up to listen to the best songs of rock and pop in history. Nobody outdoes Bobby in this performance. He set The bar so high. I have never heard anyone equal it in any song. There are a lot that came close to the bar but None is better than Bobby. He earned the gold medal of all time for male singers.
I was lucky enough to have seen the righteous brothers live and what a joy that was, brings back great memories. Watch more of these videos you will be amazed. SJ
This is the music I listened to as a teen, back when musical artists had incredible talent without filters and voice manipulation; just incredible talent--not just for performing songs, but for writing and composing beautiful melodies and lyrics, as well. Thank you for featuring Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers. It brings back wonderful memories.
I started thinking of this song as “Our Song” shortly after my husband and I got married in 1966. He wasn’t much for dancing, but always reached for my hand anytime this song was played because he knew how much I loved it. He passed away almost 15 years ago and the tears always start as soon as I hear the first notes of this beautiful memory.
I had the pleasure of seeing the Righteous Bros. in person, back in the day. They sounded just as good live as they did on record. (LP-long playing albums). Glad you enjoyed his performance. If you can find the original performance on the Andy Williams Show, Andy interviews them before Bobby Hatfield sings. By the way, I love how you articulate your thoughts. You're obviously very educated and wise. Love your warm eyes and beautiful smile. Thank you for your tender and insightful reactions.
No one ever came close to Bobby. Ive been in love since 1964. You must hear Bobby and Bill together, they were amazing. But Bobby...we miss him so much. But he left us a legacy of beautiful music for future generations to discover. And Bill is dtill performing st the age of 82.
That song sure was *RIGHTEOUS* Haha, get it?? Real knee slapper, I tell ya. This song really does make you feel like you're floating and you can let go of anything Earthly. Your reactions are always the most heart warming 😭
Back in the day, this is what we called "Blue-Eyed Soul". The Righteous Brothers were the best of the best. You should also listen to Dusty Springfiend. By the way, you are absolutely enchanting. I'm 72 years old and I know what I'm talking about! Please keep up the good work! Be Well and Prosper!
Great reaction. Just to let you know, you made a lot of sense, and what you said was spot on. There are 2 Righteous Brothers who are the duo, and they both have fantastic voices. Their voices are distinctly different, but they blend together like a hand in a well fitting glove. If you do another reaction, I would recommend doing one where they are singing together. I think their best and most successful song was You've Lost That Loving Feeling.
This was a great selection by your fans. Growing up in the 70's and 80's there was a lot of Righteous Brothers being played in my house. My Mom loves this Dynamic Duo, and so do I!
Slow dance. You said it! Why did you look like he was singing directly to you? 😉 This song is so enchanting and passionate. Knowing the context makes it even more poignant. The context is about a prisoner who misses his wife's touch and love and is in great anxiety over whether time, which can do so much, has eroded her love for him (Are you still mine? I'll be coming home, wait for me, wait for me). The song is from a 1950s movie, Unchained, about this man (he sings it in the movie).
Thank you for reacting to this, used to only the hard rock heavy metal, but I 'd love to see you react to some of the oldies plenty of good classics that will stand the test of time
Im a sixty six year old guy and I never get tired of hearing this beautiful song by Bobby Hatfield. I love seeing younger people discovering these classics. Its to bad the video which is excellent pans back right at the epic moment Bobby hits that incredible crescendo at the high point in the song! Sometimes I hear people who are reacting to the song wonder how they could stay still and be silent during such an incredible performance. I think because they were recording this performance the audience was instructed to remain quiet. I wish I could teleport back in time and be able to sit there in the front row and be blown away by the most epic vocal performer’s performing one of the greatest love songs ever. To put the song into context it was written for a prison movie in 1958. That would explain the lyrics of the song. Timeless I only wish Bobby Hatfield was still with us so he could see how people of this generation love and appreciate his incredible talent and the beautiful music he and Bill Medley gave us!
In Dreams is one of his best too. It was my dads favourite song by Roy Orbison, it was such a poignant and fitting moment when it was played at his funeral, and he finally got to be with my mum again. 😢😊
Just twenty four years old and already he had mastered the delicate balance between virtuosity and soul, both of which he had in spades. They broke the mold after they made Bobby Hatfield.
"You've lost that loving feeling" and "Soul and Inspiration" are two songs with both Bobby and Bill singing together. The Righteous Brothers (and other similar bands/groups of the era) are often refereed to as "Blue-eyed soul". This is a song you dance to with your wife/GF after making her a special dinner just for the two of you and having a romantic evening at home alone.
Aileen Prior to his singing this classic, Bobby and his singing partner, Bill Medley were talking to Variety show host, Andy William. They were kind of ad libbing prior to Bobby's to this classic song. Andy asked them "who will sing this song?" Bobby replied, me. Bill stated I guess that I will sit aside. I think Bobby was battling a cold and his mother was sitting in the audience. Sadly, Bobby left us too soon in 2003.
By the way, Andy asked Bobby and Bill on how they gotten their name? Bill replied, they were at a club singing for that night. He stated a patron yelled, " that was so righteous brother! Name stuck in history.
Truly one of the most beautiful and soulful (well it is blue eyed soul music) songs ever written. Yes I first heard this in the movie Ghost. Makes you want to go back to the 50s, slow dance. A heartfelt reaction. ♥️ it
This was very popular with my age group as teens. Any school dance and especially the Prom had this on the playlist. The girls got quite romantic when they slow danced to this song.
Every time I hear this song it brings me back to a birthday party I went to in Brooklyn when I was around 17 years old. When this song came on the record player this incredibly beautiful angel I didn't know took my hand and dragged me onto the dance floor. She took both my hands and melted into to my arms. We danced this whole song and I swear I don't remember anyone being around just her. I never felt anything like that before and since. She turned this big tough kid into mush. We both fell in love that night and dated for years. Unfortunately I lost her to an illness. It's 50 years and I miss her everyday and never will forget that angel I fell in love with that night on that dance floor to this song. Miss you, love you and we will be together again.
suggestions... this song was ever so popular back in the 60's I was a little kid, but this song was constantly been playing on the radio and with my 2 older sisters. They never tire from listening to it. Back then, I got so irritated with them but now I'm older I certainly appreciate this timeless performance. Anther beautiful cover performed by LeAnn Rimes. How she hits those high notes, is beyond me! Great reaction Ms Aileen
This might not be great on the channel but worth a listen in one’s own time: Wayne Cochran did a song in 1961 called “Last Kiss” which was rather popular at the time. I recommend listening to his version first followed with “Last Kiss” by Pearl Jam. Even if nobody were to tell you, Pearl Jam’s version is so clearly based on this type of music behind the grunge flair. It highlights how this style still left impressions decades later and how it can easily fit into a modern setting with minimal changes.
Hi dear Aileen, and once more, I am soooo happy to watch your reactions, and your appreciation for quality, genes are not important, this masterpiece of a really wonderful vocalist is sooo wonderful, and I´m glad that you found it, hug you, bis bald!
Bobby died at age 63 in 2003 in a Hotel in Kalamazoo MI, while touring with Bill Medley, the other Righteous Brother. He never made it to the stage. It was only 50 minutes from my house and i almost bought tickets to that show. I heard the news on the car radio the next morning, and balled my head off.....I grew up with all this music including them, and I was a music teacher. this was Bobby's shining moment in front of his mom in the audience. Aileen, you have a wonderful smile...
I was born in 82’ in Iowa in the states and I remember on the radio they had an oldies station and we listened to it going to my grandmas house about a 5 min drive away and it was thee most nostalgic, beautiful, harmonious music EVER! It was music from the 40s, 50s, and maybe 60s and I absolutely loved it soo soo much. It was taken off the air probably 86’-87’ and that was a sad day for me and I never got to express how much that music made me feel. It was like this music. So beautiful and a time capsule for how good music used to be. It was sooo entertaining and man did you just love it. It had a feel all to its own. I’ll never forget it.
Another good song from the past if you would like to hear it was "Tender Years" by John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band. The Song was from the movie Eddie & the Cruisers.
Bobby Hatfield (8/10/1940-11/5/2003)had the most acclaim and popular version of this song from the 1955 movie "UNCHAINED "where Todd Duncan introduced this song. But has been covered by Elvis, Al Hibler, Roy Hamilton, Sam Cooke, LeeAnn Rimes, Home Free, Voice Play just like too name of the 1,500 version of this classic song..

According to various computet analysis he hit between 22-25 notes in this performance...and does it so effortlessly...outstanding
Tão especial a forma como Bobby cantar a quente e suave tonalidade e textura da sua voz contratenor… é o que te fez sentir embalada e encantada , uma voz sem esforço e expressão serena e sorridente. Adorei ❤ ! Ebb Tide, You’ll never walk alone, a dolorosa Stay with me … todas com o carimbo único e inigualável.
Damn, that last note….amazing❤️
bobby hatfield is a counter tenor, his high vocal are natural not forced like a falsetto
I was 15 when this was performed. Thanks for honoring our music. RIP Bobby Hatfield.
I am a Boomer . I am so glad I grew up to listen to the best songs of rock and pop in history. Nobody outdoes Bobby in this performance. He set The bar so high. I have never heard anyone equal it in any song. There are a lot that came close to the bar but None is better than Bobby. He earned the gold medal of all time for male singers.
this one touches my heart like nothing else I've ever heard
One of the best voices and live performances ever. Like your reaction Love your smile and your eyes are beautiful.
The Righteous Brothers even at age 33 I grew up listening to along with some other oldies groups…but Bobby and Bill are my faves ❤
This is a beautiful song with a clear clean voice exhibiting a wide range with his singing. Amazing, emotional words and high notes!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟😊😊👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤
Proof one song can heal hearts all over the world. What an awesome voice he has. I love The Righteous Brothers.
Its such a powerful song n it has an amazing effect on people
One of the top live musical performances of all time.
You've lost that loving feeling is my favorite by them.❤😢

No one ever came close to Bobby. Ive been in love since 1964. You must hear Bobby and Bill together, they were amazing. But Bobby...we miss him so much. But he left us a legacy of beautiful music for future generations to discover. And Bill is dtill performing st the age of 82.
I truly enjoyed watching you appreciate this most amazing performance.
Oh ur in for a treat this I such a good song even for me and I grew up listening to grunge rap and metal!!!💯💯😁👍
When it comes to Unchained Melody, no singer sang that song better than Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers..
the song was written for a movie in the 50's called "Unchained." about a prisoner missing his woman and asking her if she stills loves him.
That song sure was *RIGHTEOUS* Haha, get it?? Real knee slapper, I tell ya. This song really does make you feel like you're floating and you can let go of anything Earthly. Your reactions are always the most heart warming 😭
♥️♥️

Do you ever sing or cover songs you discover by suggestions from your fans?
Hey Aileen Richie from Brooklyn. Here. Love your channel This song had new life in the movie Ghost. With Patrick swayze and Demi Moore
The best smile out there on the internet...
This was a great selection by your fans. Growing up in the 70's and 80's there was a lot of Righteous Brothers being played in my house.
My Mom loves this Dynamic Duo, and so do I!
Slow dance. You said it!
Why did you look like he was singing directly to you? 😉
This song is so enchanting and passionate.
You are correct with that meaning of this great song...
Check out YOU’VE LOST THAT LOVING FEELING by both members of the Righteous Brothers (black & white video from December 1964).
Thank you for reacting to this, used to only the hard rock heavy metal, but I 'd love to see you react to some of the oldies plenty of good classics that will stand the test of time
So expressive, the emotion and enjoyment were clear. And some lovely comments. That was wonderful.
The grin at the end was towards his mother in the audience. He nailed it.
Fantastic reaction!! If you enjoyed this, I really think you’d like Roy Orbison!! His song Crying is great!!
His pretty woman is adequate to you...
I didn't say it's his best, but it charmes her.. :-))
In Dreams is one of his best too. It was my dads favourite song by Roy Orbison, it was such a poignant and fitting moment when it was played at his funeral, and he finally got to be with my mum again. 😢😊
Bobby Hatfield also sings EBB TIDE. Amazing vocals.
Just twenty four years old and already he had mastered the delicate balance between virtuosity and soul, both of which he had in spades. They broke the mold after they made Bobby Hatfield.
Listening to this is like looking at a painting done by one of the masters. Is a song, but also a work of art
That's a real talent a real singer with no computers just him.
Aileen
Prior to his singing this classic, Bobby and his singing partner, Bill Medley were talking to Variety show host, Andy William.
Awesome reaction. Thanks
Truly one of the most beautiful and soulful (well it is blue eyed soul music) songs ever written. Yes I first heard this in the movie Ghost. Makes you want to go back to the 50s, slow dance. A heartfelt reaction. ♥️ it
A BOBBY HATFIELD SOLO! MAYBE THE GREATEST PERFORMANCE OF ALL TIME!!
This might not be great on the channel but worth a listen in one’s own time:
Wayne Cochran did a song in 1961 called “Last Kiss” which was rather popular at the time.
Your smile and energy so infectious! Great song!!
La canción más preciosa del universo!!😢😢👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤❤❤❤
He was a helluva singer. Just a natural born talent.
I'm so glad• You gave [ this forgotten masterpiece ] a voice again• [ Without These Timeless Artist ] The world• [ Has no Ghost ] The world~ doesn't connect with Demi Moore• [ During The Ending Of Ghost ] The world doesn't feel the pain• of loss- in Ecstacy/as Molly Sees Her Love Leave• [ for the Light ] There's no Ghost• without The Righteous Brothers• There's no Righteous Brothers• > without the host: Bringing It Back To Life: The Evanescence: Thank you: I enjoyed every second of it• [ I'll be coming home• wait for me.
There is an incredible remake of this by Heart. Adding Ann Wilson’s vocal to this song makes it even more powerful.
I enjoy so much watching young folks discoving the great music that I grew up with. I hope it carries on for many more generations as it's rediscovered. God bless.
Bobby Hatfield: a voice for us to hear, sent from heaven.
Wow. Aileen as a hard rock gal. I never thought you would like this....Kuddos to you. No auto tune and he was smiling at his mom in the audience
Yes... Bobby has an amazing voice..... love the horns by the way... 🙂
Definitely one of the best live singing performances EVER!!!
Bobby did this effortlessly, his talent was solid gold, it was such a shame how things went for him, leading to such a premature passing. He had it all, this was before all the crap used today for singers, auto tune, lip sync and every other electronic gadget used today that didn't exist in 1965, just Bobby's pure talent. His Mom was in the audience watching her son knock it out of the park. RIP Bobby.
