Description:
Mass Effect Legendary Edition is a remastered compilation of the video games in the Mass Effect trilogy: Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3. It is being developed by BioWare with assistance from Abstraction Games and Blind Squirrel Games, and published by Electronic Arts. All three games were remastered, with visual enhancements, technical improvements, and gameplay adjustments. Mass Effect, the first game of the trilogy, has received more extensive upgrades than its counterparts, specifically with regard to combat mechanics, vehicle handling, and loading times.
Development on the Legendary Edition remasters commenced in 2019 under the direction of Mac Walters. Although BioWare initially considered other alternatives, they ultimately decided to approach the project as a remaster as opposed to a remake in order to preserve the original trilogy experience. The compilation was announced on November 7, 2020, and released on May 14, 2021 for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
The compilation also includes almost all single-player downloadable content (DLC) that was originally released for each game, such as promotional weapons, armors, and packs. Set in the Milky Way galaxy within an alternate universe during the 22nd century, the trilogy consists of action role-playing games in which the player assumes the role of Commander Shepard, an elite human soldier who must unite the galactic community against an impending threat. Shepard is a customizable character whose morality is determined by the player, and during each game, the player makes choices that can impact the story in various ways. These choices and consequences can be carried forward through the trilogy.

i love seeing you react to everything the firts time, i LOOVE the Elcor and their monotone voices
Glad to hear it :D yeah they're great xD
That your first introduction to the volus is an ambassador that is constantly characterized as "cranky" because they still aren't on the council after literally thousands of years is certainty... a choice...
Lol, I mean I don't blame him
The Volus are NEVER going to be on the council because they are not very capable militarily and also are client race of the Turians. Basically a Vassal to the Turian Empire.
it is in this moment of spending 40 minutes exploring the citadel, and not even leaving the embassy building, i remember how big the game is.
you may have spoiled us with that near 2 hour premier lol
Lmao yeah we are gonna be on the Citadel for a good long while xD lol yeah I wanted to have a big part 1 but can't do that normally, don't have the time
M
Fun fact : Captain Anderson is voiced by Keith David who also voiced the Arbiter in Halo.
What a lad
He also voices Keith David in Saints Row 4
@@tarroes8797 And Julius Little in Saints Row 1, 2 and 4. It makes about as much sense in context.
@@Noki_Kelevra And also Elroy Patashnik on community.
@@nstorm2415 And Spawn in Mortal Kombat.
Hey man, glad you are playing one of the best series out there. I'm going to give you advices: always talk with everybody and do all side quest. Some dialogues and side quests will have inpact on ME2 and ME3.
Yeah I have been don't worry :)
The elcor are precious and deserve all love and protection
Agreed!
Man I love blind let's play, can't wait for next episode
Thanks :D glad to hear
Yeah, for the equipment, yellow means it's better than the one you currently have equipped, I guess they made it that way since green is the base color. Also, with the Halo references you mentioned yesterday, I just realized how the Volus are kind of like very intelligent Grunts and I cannot unsee it now, replaying through this is going to be extra funny now.
Yellow meaning better goes against everything I have learned in all other games xD rip me
Your going to love the citadel council
Oh yeah... so much... :P
i only watch first timers it s so cool to see you react to everything in this universe please dont mute yourself in cutscenes ;)
Glad you like it :) I don't mute myself I just don't tend to talk much in cutscenes because I'm watching them lol
Yeah, too much talking can make you miss stuff
U really deserve more viewers. Found your channel again when I lost it during my dark souls remastered playthrough.
Keep it up, love the thumbnail design.
Thanks man, appreciate it :D
YES CAPTAIN ANDERSON IS A WELL KNOWN VOICE ACTOR HIS NAME IS KEITH DAVID!!!
He's great haha
He’s been in loads of films too. The Thing, Platoon, Pitch Black. He’s the Arbiter in Halo, and Decker in fallout. He voiced Spawn in the animated series and was Goliath I think in Gargoyles he’s definitely been around 😅
@@KeytarArgonian Yes I recognized his voice when I played Halo 2 yesterday. Funny how some hear Captain Anderson and think of the Arbiter and I listen to the Arbiter and think to myself: Wait a minute that's Captain Anderson. Depends when you play what. I played Mass Effect long before I even considered playing Halo or reading the books.
@@felixdoring3926 to tell you the truth… I’ve never played a Halo game 😅 but I know his work from searching his characters so often to check it’s him.
Nothing against halo, I just came over to Xbox with the 360 and have this weird habit where I can’t start a series halfway through and just kinda never found the time to start.
I Just love the citadel so much, it really gives you center of the universe vibes, also it does a good job with worldbuilding and introducing new races
Yeah it's such a cool area :D
I spent hours walking around talking to literally everyone I could and reading codex entries. ME1 really nails presentation and lore more than any other game I've ever seen.
Stumbled across your play through and now you’ve captured me. Love to see someone play this for the first time as this game was so important to me as I grew up
Hope I can do it justice for you! :D
Wow, they greatly improved the model for the elcor 😍 The volus embassador is really a handfull with his opinion about humans. Well, I dont know since when humans have an embassy on the citadel. But the first contact war was only 30 years ago (codex / timeline last episode). Thats like 5 minutes comparing to the other species.. No wonder Din is cranky lol
Haha yeah xD I can definitely see where he's coming from
I’m really excited for this playthrough, can’t wait for the other ME games too!
Also you know that Joker is Chris Griffin right? (Seth Green) :P
Woo! I did not haha, that's cool
Anderson is voiced by Keith David who's in a ton of stuff but you probably recognize him as Arbiter.
Or big Tim 😳
Yessss love him
Fun fact: Male Shepard's voice actor, Mark Meer, also voiced all the Volus. :P
WHAT xD for real
Hey mate. Just discovered your channel in time for my favorite game series. Loving it so far. Keep going like this I and I am in for the long haul!
Thanks dude :D
Fantastic start to the lets play . . . looking forward to following it through all 3 games! One of the best things about the Legendary editions is all the new blind lets plays its generating!😀
Thank you! Gonna be a huge journey haha :D yeah that must be awesome for fans to see
thank you for these videos. i'll make sure to binge through them all.
Thanks for watching them :D
Hey just discovered your channel. Can't wait to experience my favourite game again thanks to you. :)
Your videos are great. I really like that you are reading the codex.
Welcome, glad you're liking the vids :D yeah the codex seems really neat
His helloooo Intro Doesn't Get Old
Glad to hear it haha
There you go, you found your Shephard's angry side with Din Korlack and the ambassador a bit there - maybe there's room for the lower-right conversation options yet, sometimes a little forcefulness is called for. Or your Shepard can remain cool and pleasant throughout their career whilst everything else goes crazy around them ;)
Gotta love the start of an RPG series, long journey ahead and who knows who your character will be by the end of it.
Haha yeah a little bit xD gonna be a huge journey!
I love how amazed you are by how gorgeous this game is. Just you WAIT.....there are so many BREATHTAKING moments ahead!
Haha yeah it can be really gorgeous!
I am enjoying this game so much I used to play this game on my Xbox 360 and never done the DLCs
The first one had only 2 dlc. They had to cut one out because they lost the source code for it in the legendary edition
Nice :D
Hey! After you play the trilogy, will you play Andromeda? It got a LOT of flak when it first came out, but I actually enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would... I played it before the trilogy (playing it actually made me want to play the trilogy) and it had the best gunplay out of all three games (seriously, the original Mass Effect on the old consoles has some weeeird-feeling gunplay, which only gets better in each game), really good conversations with a lot more decision-making to set up your character instead of the super-obvious "GOOD/EVIL" decisions of the original, as well as some of my favorite music in the series, haha.
That, and the friendships/romances are really fleshed out, with them spanning the entire game instead of say, one-and-done missions...
And yeah, the ME:A facial animations can be weird and screwy sometimes, but having finally played through the original trilogy, IMO a lot of the facial animations of human characters in the trilogy (I played them on XB1 with updated graphics) are worse overall or comparable to ME:A, lol. Just saying...
Edit: and yeah, that last part is pretty much blasphemy to the ME community, but it's true...
I'd say it's kinda like how AC:Odyssey is collectively hated by like, most of the outspoken AC fans, but I actually enjoyed it...
As a trilogy fan that didn't play andromeda until last year, I kinda agree with most of that, I just find the characters to be less interesting than the trilogy's characters
But the gameplay felt great and it definitely was some of the most fun I had with ME.
I agree with this, both regarding Andromeda and Odessey :)
I mean both are good, enjoyable games just not the best of their respective series!
@@gin9410 Yeah, I would say that's because, well obviously, most of the original trilogy characters had 3 games to get to know them, haha. Hence why reunions with characters in the trilogy are effective. And yeah, having Andromeda be more "open world" instead of the extremely small/mostly uninteresting planets you explore in the originals was definitely fun! Felt more like you were actually exploring huge places with a lot of side missions instead of say, ME1's tiny maps that had like, one mission each and that all felt the same... like, comparatively, I almost never got out of the vehicle in ME1, while I would constantly get out to explore and interact with environments in ME:A.
Probably not I'm afraid haha, I don't think many people would want to watch that unfortunately
@@LivingSun Ah, I just meant as in you playing the game for yourself, even if you dont post it, haha. Though obvioisly I would like a playthrough... but hey, you still have this trilogy to get through before then, so who knows?
Yeah, you really should learn to get good with pistols and shotguns early. Assault rifles and snipers really drop off quickly for vanguards because you can't upgrade skills for them. Other than that, great job so far. You're really going to like this series.
Yeah I need to upgrade my barrier more and stuff so that I don't just die when I try to use shottys lol
When I first played-back in 2008-I wasn’t completely sold after the Eden Prime mission. Then I got to the Citadel, and that scene when the Normandy arrives and flies in to dock, and at that moment…well let’s just say, I was all in
Such a cool scene :D
Oddly enough, this is very similar to my own playthrough... I'm glad to have stumbled upon your videos. I'll be playing alongside you. I've never played 1, but I have played 2 and 3.
This is going to be a ride for sure...
And yes. The Citadel is huge.
Last thing, most of the dialogue that doesn't open a dialogue tree involves 2 unique voice lines. Just keep that in mind as you talk to less important npc's
Nice, hope you enjoy playing along!
@4:07; In Kaidan's defense, as I recall, you *can* speak to him here if you're Female Shepard.
But yeah.
Oh wow I see how it is xD
@@LivingSun To be fair, you can still talk to Ashley here even if you're Female Shepard - her side of the whole Jenkins situation is more important story-wise.
But...yeah.
Not saying you can't ever talk to Kaidan as Male Shepard - you totally can.
This initial conversation though, he just gets a quick note to say.
You asked how long it took Humanity to get an embassy but Avina already said the embassy was added 19 years ago. That is one of the reasons why the other races are pissed off at humanity; because it takes 1000+ years to be granted an embassy but it only took humanity 19.
Check with them multiple times if needed, but i don’t recommend assuming you got everything out of dialogue with them by not oppening dialogue with them 2nd time making sure you didn’t miss anything...
I've been exhausting all dialogue trees lol
Hey mate,enjoying your playthrough.
One tip,if i may,try to refrain from gelling items and sell them instead. The credits will help you massively in gearing up.
Yeah don't worry I don't do it again after this part I don't think :P
Let's goooooo part 2!!!!
Wooooo!
ME has some of the most alien aliens, the main races do look and think like humans, but the exceptions (like the Elcor) are some of the best characters..
Yeah the large bois and the pink floaty bois are awesome xD
@8:56; I think it's more heatsink countdown seconds - the weapons themselves are probably scaled so that those seconds refer to how many shots you can pull off.
But for shotguns, it makes sense to go for a tradeoff of low heatsink seconds - you generally don't want to have to be re-firing due to not doing enough damage.
Well, at least, in my opinion - admittedly, didn't use shotguns very often in ME1.
Hmm yeah I guess that's a good point
It’s was the first game I bought for my new purchased Xbox 360 back in 2009
Dayum 12 years haha
Hey just a heads up, Captain Anderson's voice actor also plays The Arbiter in the Halo series. He also plays a character in Saints Row 4 I believe
Awesome, love Arby :D
Dude, after you finish the get you should check out the "commander Shepard is such a jerk" video series. It's a compilation of the renegade dialogue options in the mass effect games, there is one episode for each game. Renegade Shepard is absolutely hilarious and savage and has some great one liners.
Lol gonna be a loooooooong time until I finish
Not sure how much you play before releasing these but you may want to look into Assault Training if you are worried about your cooldown times. The skill in it will reset all your other cooldowns instantly.
That's cool, I'm a decent way ahead but I'll look into it :)
About grenades: Hit X once to throw it, then it works like a mine (triggered by enemy contact). To remotely detonate it, press X again.
What kind of grenades you use can be customized with the "grenade launcher" in the inventory by loading it with different amunition. E.g. there are non-lethal gas grenades that you need in missions where you get the best outcome by not killing people.
You should upgrade your weapons, ammunition, armor and biomod as soon as possible (in the equipment menu, press X), you have already picked up some useful upgrades.
Higher Heatsink Capacity means you can fire the weapon for longer before it overheats. The assault rifle with 6.8 seconds of capacity can be fired for that amount of time before you have to wait through the forced cooldown (before modifiers).
Don't worry, the later games have a proper ammo system.
"Green" is your equipped standard, "yellow" (or light green, rather) means better and red means worse.
Also there's guns that just suck, so don't worry. Go for stats unless you hate how the gun operates (burst-fire etc.).
It's the yellow being better than green thing that's tripping me up lol, like with traffic lights yellow is between green and red so you would think it would be like slightly worse than green haha
@@LivingSun Yeah I think it's actually supposed to be a lighter, lime-ish green rather than yellow but I can see how it'd trip you up.
At least it's not like in Yakuza: Like a Dragon where red means better and blue means worse.
I guess you should have gone with the Adept ) They have cooldown reduction plus more cool powers )))
Nah Adept seemed bad with weapons, I'm happy with my choice :)
These hacking minigames seem so much easier on console than on pc
was it always like this on consoles? or did they change it during the remastering process? I only know the pc version of the game.
@@soundofnellody262 same, i have no idea. Ive only ever seen PC footage of the game before
Can confirm they are very easy atm, what's different about them on PC?
@@LivingSun well one has you discover and memorize a sequence of direction arrows so that one isn't too bad.
The other one can be pretty rng. It's a small arrow that you need to navigate from the outer most layer to the "bullseye" but there are swarms of moving little arrows that you need to avoid on each layer to get to the bullseye. Sometimes they are easy, sometimes your luck is just rotten
There are also different levels of difficulty for the minigame so on higher difficulty you have more arrows to avoid.
I hope you got the joke that Jenkins is a reference to Leeroy Jenkins? If so I'm sorry to assume you didn't get it
Haha no I didn't xD
you recognize his voice if yo'uve played Saint's Row, watch Gargoyles OR Barbershop! there's a bunch more probubly
He's the Arbiter in Halo apparently :)
So as a series goes on does it get more disjointed from the uploads?
What do you mean?
@@LivingSun I think he means that as the series goes on will it get “behind” as in you are farther along IRL then the videos
Still debating on wether this is nice or not...
It's very nice
