Description:
Mass Effect Legendary Edition is a remastered compilation of the video games in the Mass Effect trilogy: Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3. It is being developed by BioWare with assistance from Abstraction Games and Blind Squirrel Games, and published by Electronic Arts. All three games were remastered, with visual enhancements, technical improvements, and gameplay adjustments. Mass Effect, the first game of the trilogy, has received more extensive upgrades than its counterparts, specifically with regard to combat mechanics, vehicle handling, and loading times.
Development on the Legendary Edition remasters commenced in 2019 under the direction of Mac Walters. Although BioWare initially considered other alternatives, they ultimately decided to approach the project as a remaster as opposed to a remake in order to preserve the original trilogy experience. The compilation was announced on November 7, 2020, and released on May 14, 2021 for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
The compilation also includes almost all single-player downloadable content (DLC) that was originally released for each game, such as promotional weapons, armors, and packs. Set in the Milky Way galaxy within an alternate universe during the 22nd century, the trilogy consists of action role-playing games in which the player assumes the role of Commander Shepard, an elite human soldier who must unite the galactic community against an impending threat. Shepard is a customizable character whose morality is determined by the player, and during each game, the player makes choices that can impact the story in various ways. These choices and consequences can be carried forward through the trilogy.

Fun Fact: If you go to Liara very, very late in the game (like near endgame) it means she is trapped the whole time there.. And when you finally show up she believes that Shepard is just a hallucination. Its just a small detail but the games (all 3) are full with this small changes. Love that. Liara looks so good in this remaster version. The whole game looks good. I think ME1 benefits the most from remastering.
That's hilarious haha
fun fact- if you put off recruiting Liara for LAST, she acts delerious due to malnutrition and lack of sleep because she's been suspended for so long lol
she even accuses you of being a hallucination.
non-squadmates "investigate" options dont change. the squadmates' do sometimes tho. worth checking them now and then. also, some options that say the same thing WILL be different, usually because it's something like "ask about last main mission you completed" or something. also also, Joker has a different comment after every main mission but he says it right away so no need to check his dialogue options, just talk to him and leave
Haha wow really xD that's great lol. Ah okay
I remember that. I did LITERALLY every sidequest and main quest before getting to Liara, and she was like like "ah, I'm going insane, you're not there"
Council: That thing you did? you could just not have done it, Shepard
Shepard: "new phone who dis"
Lmao xD
The disconnect option is some of the funniest dialogue in the series lol
I'll have to look it up once I'm done lol, I'm curious but don't wanna miss out on the conversations
Man I love Ashley, such a complex character with an interesting background.
Yeah definitely more complex after today's part xD
Lots of people unfortunately hear the early space racist stuff and never look any deeper
Hanging up on the council is one of my favorite things to do, even on paragon playthroughs. It's hilarious.
I bet haha but I don't wanna miss out on the conversations yanno
It's worth noting that melee attacks, such as that Krogan trying to headbutt you at 13:30, go right through shields. This includes the Barrier ability.
which makes sense, since the game does explain that they only work against very fast moving objects
Ah yikes okay
Essentially like shields from Dune. They protect from high velocity projectiles.
To answer your question about the investigate dialogue changing. As far as I know in ME1 it doesn't change for for non-companions but does sometimes for your actual companions. Also you get new dialogue from your companions not just from completing main missions but from side missions to (though it might be that you have to complete two or three side mission for new stuff to pop up though). One more thing is that you forgot to ask Kaiden on how the last mission went, so basically you can ask his opinion on Liara.
Cheers :D
43:00. Pretty sure Humanity was the dog in her metaphor. She's basically saying that when things get tough, the Alliance will get shafted and they should learn to not depend on the Council for support. It's very cynical but you've already seen that members of Humanity are just slightly better than second class citizens who've already faced a series of Pirate and Slaver raids and now a Geth attack, with the Council saying "oh well" each time.
Yeah, I feel like Ashley gets a lot of hate from fans and called "racist" a lot, but she has a point.
Yea, a lot of people misunderstand that. She wasn't calling other aliens dogs, just that if worse comes to worse they will sacrifice humanity to save their own races.
@@lilly25642 yeah, funny how those who call her racist ignore the fact she didn't even mention Tali, who's in the most vital and secret part of the ship, because Quarrians aren't really a threat to the Alliance.
@@lilly25642 Yeah. She a racist who calls out Terra Firma for its militant pro-human views, despises Cerberus and Earth First, and says Tali is like a little sister to her.
I've always seen Ash as an Alliance nationalist rather than a human speciesist.
I mean, she is slightly racist. On a "I can't tell the aliens from the animals" level we might say, but it could be worse.
The dialogue trees can be a bit of a dice roll. Sometimes they have new conversations and other times not. But the information and lore you do get is worth it in my opinion
Fair haha
You'll have to forgive Ashley, her first experience with aliens was on Eden Prime. Losing an entire squad you trained with for years is going to leave scars, I've read stories from soldiers who were suicidal because of stuff like that. This is how irrational fears are made.
Mm hopefully I can help her get some perspective as we go lol
"I really like the shotgun barrier combo" . . oh man you are going to love the vanguard gameplay in Mass Effect 2!😉 And we will enjoy watching it! Sniper is very powerful but its not all but its not all the exciting to watch.
Depends on how the person play infiltrator. I really love the smgs and getting close with them. Sniper is the best class for me. But i when i get the legendary edition ill play vanguard.
Looking forward to it :D
Absolutely nothing compared to 3’s suicidal spam vanguard though lmao
Yes it is worth pressing Investigate again, new options will appear over time depending on the context
Okie doke :)
Great part! I love touring the ship to check up on the squadmates
Haha glad you love it cos it'll be happening fairly often I think xD
You can ask Kaidan about the last mission too
Ah right yeah forgot that
And here we have Dr. Liara T'Soni, the only asari in the galaxy with eyebrows.
In the trilogy :P
Haha!
Lmao oh no I'm gonna notice this now aren't I xD
Nice to see you consider all the options in the dialogue tree instead of going straight for the paragon one every time, even if it's mostly to laugh at the aggressiveness of the renegade lines it means you're not going on autopilot through the conversations. And as you saw, some of them are just too irresistible to pass up.
Autopilot as a renegade is even worse because the bottom right doubles as "decline" and top right as "accept" so you can accidentally end up refusing things etc. Sun probably won't run into that issue though.
Haha yeah gotta go with my heart sometimes xD
You are finally getting more insights into your companions besides just general info about them and their people. But the real meaty stuff is yet to come. I can't wait.
Yeah :D good stuff
So now the full squad is here and the adventure begins!
Woo!
Your main 6 squadmates get new conversation after each main mission and joker gets a new opening quip.
Nice :D
A lot of the 'renegade' choice descriptions are lot more 'extreme' than what the actual conversation will be (but sometimes its the opposite!). Always a bit of an adventure with the renegade options.
I'll have to look up some renegade stuff after I'm done with the trilogy lol I'm curious
@@LivingSun I find renegade dialogue to be hilarious when I see them in a video compilation, but I can't bring myself to use them too much in game.
I love disconnecting the council in 1.
@@Flufux it's all about just roleplaying the... Renegade. Have to put yourself into character and remember that renegade doesn't = evil and it doesn't equal = dick answers.
@@jpc6485 That's why I choose renegade options when I benefit from them or when they feel appropriate, but I can't got through an entire playthrough while choosing mostly renegade choices.
Lol at that elevator music. And yay you finally met best girl Liara.
Thats a weird way to spell "Tali"
To each their own ☺️ Liara's always best girl for me anyway
Every elevator needs it :P
As far as Im aware during my playthrough, the minor crew members such as the Doc and Engineer Adams don't really get new lines at all. Your main crewmates do have new lines after main missions and Joker almost always seems to have some new lines.
Okie doke awesome :)
Man I've missed all these characters :P (yes even Ash, bless her kinda-spacist little heart)
I'm enjoying getting to know them :D
Great job in taking down that krogan warlord, he can sometimes be a rough fight
Thanks! Invincibility is great it turns out lol
God, I fucking love Liara. I don't think there's a single video game love interest I'm more attached to 😭 Every time I replay ME and she's on screen my brain just goes "That's my wife!🥰🥰🥰", even when I'm romancing someone else 😂
This guy knows. Liara is the best. Intelligent, kind, and badass.
I don't think this is spoilery but...
45:54 when trying to go through all dialogue options it *is* possible to accidentally romance someone. It's happened to me at certain points throughout the series and I didn't realize until it was too late. So make sure you're paying attention when any flirty dialogue comes up, because there are a LOT of options on who to romance over the course of all 3 games, some of which may not be obvious at first. That being said, follow your heart!
Aha okay good to know I'll be careful xD
Let the FLIRTING commence! AHEM. LOVING this SO MUCH!!!!!!
Lmao xD
Concerning post-chat mission : only your companions will have new stuff to say. Member of the crew (Pressly, Joker, the Doctor, chief engineer) won't have new dialogue options.
I really like your content, I've seen a few of your let's play so far : Control, currently Halo Reach and Metro 2033 and now Mass Effect. I think you deserve my subsciption😏
Thanks man! :D
Blue waifu has arrived. I repeat, blue waifu has arrived.
I Hope not😅
Haha xD
35:41 Accidentally predicting the Ardat-Yakshi.
If you rearrange Dr. Chakwas name correctly it spells Hacksaw.
Yikes xD
Woah Woah Woah! I never had Ashley comment on liaras sex life before wtf!! 😂
Big yikes lol
Joker's Personal History response does change over the course of the game.
Wait really haha, of all things that's the one I would not expect to change
Investigate options don't lead to different answers in me1 but you can get new investigate options as time goes on, In me2 and 3 they lead to different answers if the question is about status of something, like status of normandy for example.
Hmm okay good to know
Isn't really a black or white answer for your "is it worth investigating again?" question.
Some people will have new stuff to say but some will never change; I note that sometimes you'll be told that you should talk to someone and then their 'investigate' option will have an extra question. That isn't always the case though and half the time you just have to remember if you asked them the question before.
I will say that ME2 onward improves the chatter with the 'side' characters like Joker and you will be rewarded for talking to them as often as possible.
Fair haha, I'll keep checking on people
Liara may be good, but Tali is forever
yeah but you cant do anything about that...

@@spacezombie13 Maybe a month of video uploads before then haha.
@@Mvpdarkfreedom entirely depends on how many sidequests Sun does, tbh. im not gonna rush him
@@spacezombie13 yea it’s all fine. He wants to get the most out of the game after all.
I am not really a big fan of any squad members in this game. Garrus and Wrex are ok i guess.
I think you may have misunderstood Ashley's point. In her metaphor, humans are the "dog".
Yeah, I agree. She's kinda straight-up said that in the next dialogue line. And sadly she had a point.
If you want to see a real "space racist", just look at Sparatus (turian member of the Citadel Council). Damn, this bi*ch tries to make Shepherd look bad every single time!
She literally compares sapient aliens to animals on the citadel she clearly shows that she see's the as inferior and less "human" for lack of a better word. The dog and bear comment is not her only instance of this kind of prejudice.
Mmm maybe haha
@@xilo6519 When you're not familiar with aliens, the only reference you have is animals. I've always seen her comment about aliens and animals in that light, showing how she's simply overwhelmed by all the new sights that she can't comprehend.
Also, the devs designed the aliens based on existing animals, so she's not entirely wrong on her comparison ;) One may call it easter eggs even.
@@xilo6519 the dog comment is calling humans the dogs.. don't know what part you don't understand
Most of the ME1 Renegade options boil down to "i don't have time to listen to your life story! Just tell me what i need to know!"
Most of the Paragon options invite others to add more details during a conversation, and even though the responses you choose during certain conversations look different, what Shepard actually says is the same for both options... If you play the game as a pure Paragon, and then a pure Renegade, you will see that especially ME1 has a bunch of scenes where the text for the options is different, but the spoken dialogue is actually the same voiceline!
This is much improved in ME2 and 3...
Lol xD yeah I always want more details lol
I would reccomend stoping by the citadel between main missions as new side quests apper in between
Will do :)
The conversations with the Council,
You know it.
WHOOPS
I know it?
@@LivingSun you dont know it :) just a little inside joke about the council nothing to important
Ah Ashley is already showing her negative sides
Indeed haha
Ashley "I cant tell the animals apart from the aliens" Williams. Truly a misunderstood "pragmatist".
Eeeeek
Again. Point is she has a deeper character. She's flawed like any well written character is.
😂 at 46.00 .... I’m Commander Weinstein, and this is my favourite power move on the Normandy 😂
Oof
Just a quick note. I don't think those quick pop-ups are autosave but are actually loading. I wouldn't count on them to prevent loss of progress if I were you.
Scratch that. Just checked the start of the vid again and that was a save.
Phew xD
@@LivingSun I would be careful tho. I've lost 15mins + in thinking it autosaved at points.
If the NPC's initial dialogue is unchanged then their investigate options will be the same. But if they have any new dialogue then its likely that there are new options under investigate also.
Good to know thanks :D
The problem with blind players is that they generally don't remember what the investigate options were ;)
I don't mind revisiting dialogues, especially if the player doesn't remember it. And clicking the same option even though you've already had that convo ... that happens to the best.
Liara is everyone's favourite blueberry pie
Haha xD
New hit song: Elevator Music feat Living Sun
Buy now!
Getting Persona vibes from that elevator music lol
Perfect xD
I get all the love Liara gets but I love Tali just as much!
Both seem great :)
Ashley has serious family background with aliens, especially with Turians. Her Grandfather was the General that surrendered Shanxi to the Turians during the first contact war. The first and only leader to allow a human settlement to be occupied. The stigma sticks with the family, her father is treated badly in the military because of it, never given a good position and she has a chip on her shoulder because of it.
Fun times for her lol
I used assault rifles a lot, despite them not being a specialization for Vanguards.
I also played on a higher difficulty though. A lot harder to bring down shields with pistols.
I'd usually bring down shields with assault rifles, then finish them off with a barrier charge and my shotgun
Nice :)
I don't think Ashley is completely wrong with her dog analogy here because that's basically what the council did with the krogan and the turians, they couldn't fight the rachni so the uplifted the less advanced krogan to fight for them, when the krogan got too dangerous they tossed the newly discovered turians at them until they came up with the genophage. Thats twice the Asari and Salarians got into a fight they couldn't win and and their solution both times was to sic a less advanced race on the problem so they could survive.
Don't forget to level up your Charm if you don't want to miss another Paragon conversation option :)
I literally have put more points into charm than any other stat lmao, I'm not forgetting it at all xD
@@LivingSun Yes you have, except the last few times you levelled up, you had space for one more point in charm. I'd hate for you to be in the middle of a story mission and not be able to use your paragon because of one point, it's heartbreaking.
lena's wife :D
super interesting this part! loved the more insight of the characters and though I really don't like ashley i'm curious what she got to hide! and kinda liking kaidan xD
Haha xD same!
If someone agrees with just about anyting Ashley says that's a red flag for me tbh. Enjoying the progress so far!
Thanks :D
Ashley is right about like... At least half of what she says
Seeing how the council treats humans, when things get rough they save their own races and groups which has been shown throughout the series.
So the bit with Ashley making the dog analogy, it was probably the worst way they wrote it, the sentiments are better explored in the novels and comics, basically Ashely analogy people make the mistake of her calling the council race the dog in that a analogy, however if you read the comics and the books it paints the sentiment better, what Ashley is saying isn’t that the aliens are the dog, in her anaology humanity is the dog
So in the prequel Novel the alliance got caught researching AI by the council, it didn’t escape or anything the whole base got destroyed in a terrorist attack, here is the list of punishment the council tried to levy against humanity
Trade sanctions
A reduction of the size of the alliance Navy
The council would have unlimited unrestricted access to alliance intelligence
Every alliance ship would have a council appointed observer that mointered the crew and reports directly to the council
Every human world and colony including Earth would have a garrison of troops stationed to observe council laws were being followed
The game may make the council look like the pinnacle of cooperation but uh when you look at the expanded material they can be VERY controlling, and if they can’t control a race they can be VERY unforgiving. Just ask the krogan and the fertility plague
I assume the novels and comics came out after? Guessing they realised it sounded bad and were trying to damage control it a bit in those lol
@@LivingSun nah the book Mass effect Revelations came out before ME1 and the book was written by the head writer of ME1 (the story is about Captain Anderson mission where he worked with Saren trying to get into the specters before ME1)
@@LivingSun like I said they just worded that segment really really badly
You ever played Dragon Age games yet? Those are quite dialogue-rich too (makes sense, given the same dev)
Not yet! Would like to before DA4, guessing that'll be earliest late 2022 so I will probs start early next year
@@LivingSun Cool. Can't wait!
Just a alternate thought, in Ashley's 'dog and bear' analogy (42:44), Ashley is suggesting that the alien races are the person and the *humans* are the dog. She is saying that the other species would abandon humanity if things got rough. She's leery of trusting them to fully have a human's back in a firefight, especially if it's up against one of their own kind (e.g. Saren/Turian, Benezia/Asari). That perspective is cynical and pessimistic, but not wholly without merit.
Mm maybe
Ah yes, best girl is here
She seems great so far!
Your outro song sounds like it belongs to Mass Effect 3 OST.
Really haha xD
perhaps you already found out, but tech abilities cannot have effect on targets with a barrier, en biotic abilities cannot effect enemies with a shield. You will also encounter enemies with armor. Some might even have all three defenses....
People have said that's true in the sequels, but not in this game
Best gurl is hereee 😍 my Liara is so cute 💙
I really like her introduction :D
I Brought Wrex Along For This Mission, Nothing Happens Mr. Sun
ah yes, the moment you realize ashley is space racist, its so much worse than i remember 14 years ago
Big oof lol
This game has a similar random loot system to Cyberpunk. Not a fan of it. Some of those armors are silly looking but the player might need to equip them to survive. I think its immersion breaking if my character is running around in a clown suit (i.e. mismatched or ugly armor).
Haha yeah there's been some not great armour looks already xD but I don't mind it really, they'll all be replaced before too long anyway until I reach endgame I would assume
Whenever I get a better armor and it's looking ugly, I just re-equip my previous one. Better die well-dressed than survive as a meme ;)
@@TheRemyLeBeau I wish i could upgrade the N7 armor and wear that all game.
@@zackfair6791 Or just buy the merchandise and compensate it in real life ;)
@@TheRemyLeBeau Or better yet i could simply not play games with shitty leveled loot systems.
I'm here to let you know that unlike what some commenters are saying, you most definitely do not need to "forgive Ashley" for her racism
Who said you had to forgive Ashley? Some people just like it that someone didn't jump to she's racist. In the end, Ash was right. In ME3 it's a real struggle for Shepard to unify the various species into working together. The first thing the council members do is abandon the wider galaxy for their own species, rather than working together from the beginning.
I mean, I never forgive racism but hopefully I can at least help her learn and grow lol. Nobody is born racist, they're taught it through their life situation and how they're raised etc, so everyone has the ability to become better
Well it is a fictional character, and her writing goes a lot deeper than the misplaced hate towards her being slightly spacist
"Make nice with the bug-eyed monsters."
"I can't tell the aliens from the animals."
UA-cam comment section: "Ashley's not racist you see, she's a * pragmatist *."
Racist is the wrong term. Speciest is the more accurate word you're looking for. Even though I disagree with you on Ash.
I don't even remember that from when i played. I do not care what anyone thinks about others. But thats just me.
The point is she has a deeper character than thag
