Today we start. They tore up our land!

Today the build starts today! I really thought that the backhoe could just knock the tree stumps out of the ground. I guess I was "today years old" when I realized just how big roots are. They did what is called a step footing, where one side is higher than the other. This will cause the home to be higher off the ground on one side. If they would have brought in dirt to make it level we would have had to bring more dirt in to raise the ground up.
