Another great video Kevin. I paused halfway through and listed a 10k necklace using your advice with a photo of it on the scale. Before I could even finish the rest of the video it had 2 offers and sold for $150. Literally a 3 minute sale, fastest sale ever! Thanks again for consistently providing a wealth of knowledge to your viewers!

Thanks for sharing Kevin I've been lucky enough to find several gold items that sold very well!

Several years ago, my wife and I went to a garage sale. A woman had a necklace she was asking $5 for. My wife bargained the price down to $2.50. When we got home, I noticed the "925" on it. I weighed it on my coin scale and based on the price of silver at the time, the necklace had a silver melt value of $2.53. My wife continues to tell me how good she is at buying garage sale jewelry. So far that's the only garage sale jewelry she's bought.

What app are you using to figure out the price of gold?

Also, when selling bullion metals on EBay, always set your listings as “no returns.” Otherwise, if the price drops in the next 30 days, you could get a return. Theoretically, you could buy no-risk bullion if someone is selling with “free returns” listings. If the price goes down, return. If the price goes up, resell.
I question whether eBay is the best place to sell bullion metals. Perhaps local gold and silver stores are better. Maybe a slightly lower price but without the risk.

I think if you'd priced significantly higher, your pieces would have sold just as fast. If these were mine, I'd have sold the pieces separately, left the word scrap out of the title, and priced at $59.95 and $149.95. Those would be bargain prices for 14k and sell fast. Good explanation of what the scrap price of gold is - but you don't need to sell for the scrap price to make a quick sale.

When you weigh the gold you have to deduct the stone if you're going to sell as scrap.

Thanks for the great video. The link to the gold scale does not work, but I bought a magnet. I take it that gold is non-magnetic.?

*Very Important* Do not sell the silver bracelet with the gold accents as scrap. Look in to the markings, if it is marked 585 and 925, you may have a David Yurman or other designer piece which is an item that you can sell for much more than scrap. It should be noted, that any piece with a maker's name or hallmark should be looked into before selling as scrap...Also, no returns on precious metal listings due to market fluctuations.

That is called a chain, not a necklace. Unless the jewelry is broken, it's not considered scrap. You don't price it the way you did. Jewelry stores sometimes have a two to three hundred percent mark up. Sold separately, you could have gotten double. As fast as it sold should tell you that it was priced way too low. I've bought and sold gold for years as a twenty year manager at a large pawn shop. I was yelling at you through my phone. Learn from this.

Understood. I also understand you're new to selling gold. I would just like you to be able to capitalize on your precious metals. Also look for Pandora bracelets. Some are silver, some gold, but just basic metal and they are still worth a lot.
The only gems you should worry about are diamonds. Others are a dime a dozen. You can buy a diamond tester to test those. But until you get into a carat, they aren't worth much either. There are a few that have value like a morganite but you will probably never find one in the wild. Just count the weight of the stone in with your gold.

Now is not the time to sell that gold, YOU KNOW the BIBLE says.... a piece of bread will buy a bag of gold... hold on to it, even those in Alaska are right now, it will go high due to the recovery of our economy... I understand business but this economy stuff I don't get but if Alaska is sitting on gold, it should be a hint
