I will not state what it was but ever since then, all the songs of Silent Hill 2 have stuck with me and I can't fathom why but they do and they calm me down to a near crystal clear version.

I have a really odd relationship with the Silent Hill ost as I've never played Silent Hill so the only time I've heard the music was when I played the Silent Hill mod on Fallout 4 I remember playing that with my friends, we'd have two different tvs set up and I'd be playing that while another friend would be playing another game. What is so precious about this track, and what sets it apart from the rest of the OST, is those sharp pangs of almost hopefulness, a hope you KNOW is impossible, that cut through the thick fog of melancholy. That sorrow is still there, and the oppressive solitude.....but the way those chimes ring through makes you feel like it's worth staying a little longer, take a few more steps, because MAYBE there is something waiting for you...
i was gonna spend a lot of money on all four games and a ps2 but i found out i could get them on the pc and now silent hill 2 happens to be my favorite silent hill game ever

They are masterpieces. They're horrific, but SH2 made me cry as a 14 year old, and again as a 34 year old.
The golden standard for any horror games is the SH formula or RE. Not one has been able to take their place.
Nothing like it. The piercing sound that cuts in between the soft piano almost sounds like cries in its own respect! Very cool piece.
