The hydrophobics on this one look absolutely incredible. Soft 99 does make some really innovative and reasonably priced solid detailing products. Innovation and reformulation is always a good thing for both professional detailers and enthusiasts alike as it gets us all better and more useful products as the hobby/profession evolves. This is without a doubt the "golden age" of vehicle detailing. Once the internet came about years ago, it really propelled detailing into a "warp speed" mode! Everyday some type of new innovation or product is coming out. That darned rabbit hole keeps getting deeper and deeper and my wallet more empty!
That compound/cleaner is a godsent, I've never seen anything strip down a window like that bar using an actual glass polish and a machine.
Got this great product on my car. Once you are above 50MPH you barely need your wipers, even in heavy ran. Really easy to apply as well 👍👍
Used to call it "wetting" (Hydrophilic properties) when hydrophbic coating removed. When plating contact pins etc (gold plating) used to test our tanks of solution by removing all contam' from a small sheet of steel, to make sure the expensive chemicals would fully cover all the surface to be plated. You do a great and thorough job Jon, and great content again!
Great vid! Love Fusso products especially the legendary soft 99 bit of an old lady now but she’s still a good one. This looks like another great product added to their line up. Looking forward to seeing the new stuff from then you were mentioning at the end of the video. Peaked my interest 👍🏼
I’ve been using (Ultra) Glaco and the compound for years. For me the best consumer grade glass sealant out there!
Love the compound, nothing else cleans/preps the glass as good as that
Definitely good enough? Wonder if it would clean up something like G1
i had used the older fusso glaco, and its really long lasting compare to rain x.. more than 6 months of hydrophobic without the need to re apply.
I used this is the last. Is does work, but when you wash the car is does come off. I have also seen wiper jumping after this was applied. Good thing you haven’t 👍 IMO, rainex works really good. Cheers!
Mixed bag for me on the Glaco range. Compound is good, but the others in the range mixed results. The one for the mirrors left a grey hue on the glass, which is the actual film that provides the water repellent. I’m buffed it off and was left with zero repellency. So have to live with the grey film if you want that product. The main screen Glaco ultra worked ok, but after a short time wipers started juddering so again had to remove it. Will get that another go but I had better results with good old rainX. Compound is a must though
The first version of this is still holding up strong Jon think I might strip mine and apply this one for my November trip to wales 🏴
I once tried just putting Fusso on the windscreen after my Glaco ran out. Been doing it ever since. Lasts ages but not quite as hydrophobic and not as easy to install perfectly. But after a quick spray down or when it rains and I use my wipers a few times to clean the built up dirt it comes back. And yes I used my wipers a lot too and it still survives
Guys, Jon, the felt pad on the compound actually lifts off so you can thoroughly wash it clean of goop between applications. 😀
Discovered the DX the weekend after I finished applying Glaco to all the windows on my house, which in itself took 3 weekends.
I love that the glaco products are simple to use. The only negative i have to say about it is that the wipers are jumping sometimes when in use. At first it did not happen but after 1 week it started. So im thinking about polishing it away from the front windscreen and just have it on the sides and rear. Just as you did in the video i testes the wipers and there was no problems then, the problem came after s couple of days and when used in gentle rain.
If u just polish the front glass you have like water film. I think u might need something. Maybe try fresh new rubber on the blades
@@ForensicDetailing the wiper blades are just 3 months old and i dont drive allot and the car is always parked in garage. The product works great but its kinda annoying when the wipers wont slide clean over the glass. I have glass polishing pads and polish so getting it off aint a problem☺️ I have no problem with the frontscreen not beading☺️ Just wanted to tell about my experience with it. If i need to replace the wipers every third month to avoid it then its not the ideal product for me.
Hello from Montreal! I' d put the old version in may on my electric Kona and it's still working amazingly great! Best glass coating! Can wait to order tne new version. Love your channel mate!!!
One of my favourite brands
I’ve recently bought the glaco in the more round bottle. Very impressed so far. The glass polish is fantastic as you said. Having used gtechniq glass sealant before this seems to be more hydrophobic.
Only done my windscreen last week. If I had know would of waited and tried the new version.
“…I’ve got a test glass panel, cause that’s the type of guy I am..” 😂😂 quote of the day
Rain Drop Bazooka is an amazing drying aid
I put it on my iPhone 14 pro works great 4 me it makes my phone rain proof
I’m a fan of soft99 but I’ve been using angel wax h2go for years and it’s currently £6.95 and with the glaco dx being £16.99 it would be really interesting to see a comparison between the two
Also, frost is less likely to bond to the windscreen because of the coating
You got to try this before me!
Can you review the Angelwax Exodus glass sealant haven’t seen a video/forum of it and I think it’s been released recently also.
best to use are piaa silicone wipers ,have a set 5 years
I love soft 99
Got the compound and the DX on a deal from their web site. No wiper judder after applying it. Is it wrong to be wanting it to rain now? 🤣
Hey- can you maybe do another run-down of all your detailing equipment? Like your vacuum, tools etc
I can do mate but ive done this video 2 times before. But I will add to the list.
Can you put that on existing ceramic coated windows?
i order 1. but the black one taking so loong like 15 days. since its all the way to japan. its been effing raining for like month now here in CA
The original might not be the most hydrophobic product, but it is a long lasting product. It is impervious to bug splatter, and in my commute that's half the battle. Most other glass sealants are stripped by the acids in bug splatter, while original Glaco us completely unfazed. You will not get the smudge line where the passenger wiper stops in the middle of the window either.
Hi Jon, Another great video - just love ‘em all. When you say the bottle will do 4 cars - is that all the glass around the car or just 4 windscreens ? Many thanks
4 cars mate all screens (very roughly though). I did both my cars with the previous glaco ultra and I only used about 1/3 of it.
@@ForensicDetailing Nice one - many thanks for the reply👍🏼
Gracias 👍👋🇲🇽
I wonder if we will see a new Soft99 wax in the future, or an improved version of current ones.
Be good to see this pitched against the new product from infinity wax diamond vision, I find this a very good product.
Used the old glaco and wiperblades started to judder, what can I do to fix it, tried to put som glaco on them but no good.
So is it 2 pieces of kits or 2 in one you never showed
My wipers are leaving a trail of fog or film everytime i use them. I don't know what I did wrong. My rear wipers are juddering a bit.
11.11 min is there wiper judder?
So this product sits above or below the Ultra Glaco? Durability is below Ultra.
I want ultra Glaco in the flat DX/compound bottle.
I have the jutter how do I remove it
Soft 99 must have sent this out to all you reviewers every channel had shown this product recently
Brill video, I have a question though if you don’t mind Jon , the application pad that comes with it does that need to be cleaned out after use ? Just wondering if you don’t will it dry the foam rock hard and if you attempt to clean it out is that possible or is it too greasy of a product if this makes sense
No the fresh liquid will come through and wet it back out next time
What about fogging up when its cold and moist outside?
This autumn it has been really annoying, i get into my car and the windshield is completely fogged up on the outside, but the wipers don't get rid of it completely.
Especially annoying when its sunny, there have been times when i can't see anything through the windshield.
Product i used is Turtle Wax Clearvue btw.
Seems ok m8
DX is always best.
Gyeon dose one similar check that one out
I still find I go back to Rain X and just top it up weekly. That's expensive for 70ml where as Rain X you get 400ml for a fiver and unless you don't need your wipers under 30mph it's all much of a muchness..
Was it any better than the old glaco
Better than gtechniqs G1 John?
Can be inside windscreen
Would you use the Glaco cleaning compound over the use of wire wool?
0000 wirewool is good for bit of stuck on stuff. but really I think claying will do that. So clay if needed then compound is all you will need Steve.
How often do you need to re apply ? I wash my car weekly, will
It come off each time I clean the car ?
3-4 month
Rated for like 60km/hour right?
To me at 11:05 the wipers do judder on the return, this is what happened after my application and got worse with use?
I saw that
What’s the best way of polishing glass? Got a good amount of scratches in my window screen.
You can't really. But rayon pads and ceriglass on rotary.
Can you look at the soft99 dust repellant for alloy wheels please
whats it called scott?
@@ForensicDetailing it's called soft99 wheel dust blocker
😞3:13 missed the spot around wiper handle
I’ve used a lot of windscreen sealants over the years and given up on all of them because of smearing when using the wipers. I’d be interested in a long term real-world test of this to see if it’s really as good as it looks.
i've used quite a few myself and at this moment i'm staying with Angelwax H2go, wich applies and stays the best and no smearing or jumping windscreen wipers.
Front screen needs a new layer after a months or 5-6 to keep the hydrophobics up, side windows are still going hard after more then 1 year...
@@SuddenDeathSyndrome me too, the Angel Wax H2go works well for me 👍
Tried loads too, Meguiars Glass Sealant works best for me at present. Slick, lasts months and is the most clear in sunlight.
I find that ALL windscreen sealants leave a haze, but Meguiars is the least visible.
Soft 99 is usually quite a serious haze.
Not meant to use wipers with Rain-x and the like.
Properly clean glass and blades is the key
@@SuddenDeathSyndrome same here, h2go after doing some research is my first and still is my glass sealant. It works so fucking well. It starts blazing off the water at about 54km/h
How do you clean your wiper blades? I see so many people recommend to use a glass cleaner, but I find that whenever I do this my wiper start juddering. I assume this is because it’s drying out the rubber
Wet microfiber cloth and apc m8. Older blade go brittle and stiff. Some say lemon juice is good for them.
I use Sansom's Clarity, as a glass cleaner and hydrophobic protection, which I think is great. But they advised to rub Clarity on to the blades as well. And when I did, all I got was juddering, drove the Mrs nuts as well as me. So stopped doing that, and just get a damp microfibre cloth, give the blades a good rub, to see how much dirt is on the blades, when no more dirt, it's clean. I also use Chemical Guys glass cleaner. I still think, putting on any chemical on to rubber, it will appear to stick to it, just my theory, rubber and certain chemicals in general, can cause problems with colour or harm the rubber in some way. Will try this Glaco with the compound, seems good. I also use Autonym's glass polish, so not sure if the compound does the same thing. Good update Jon, great videos as usual, short ones are just right.
What do you recommend to use in the washer bottle? I usually use 50/50 screenwash/water to keep the system clean. Thanks
Bonnymans extreme concentrate. I use about 100ml to 5 litres water.
@@ForensicDetailing looks good stuff! Presumably all screenwash will degrade glass coatings?
Can you do a video on interior detailing
I will do m8 it's covered in detail 9n my online course aswell
Does this work at all speeds as they have products that work under 40mph and some over 40mph more suited for motorway driving.
Im not sure mate its a cracking question. it rained on me the other day and it seemed to work well even at like 20 mph. but its fresh and zinging at the moment.
The ultra glaco will definitely outlast the DX since it uses fluorine technology which have chemical bond to the glass compared to the DX which is silicone based that have none. However, the DX will higher repellency. I say realistically you can get 2-3 months before it gets ineffective. I am more curious whether applying say 2-3 coats of the DX will improve durability?
I think you risk filming issues with 2 or 3 coats
You said the bottle size could last you perhaps 18 months , is there a "best before date" ??
I check this out and get back to you
Sorry newbie question: do you still use screen wash with this applied ??
Yes m8
Can you test the speed this works at maybe a 50/50 on a windscreen with Ultra Glaco?
I have Glaco and Ultra, apparently Glaco is supposed to work at a slower speed than Ultra Glaco according to Soft99s material. But I haven’t found that to be the case.
31mph for Ultra Glaco vs Glaco 36-38mph. I’m looking for lower for city driving.
Probably will be a difference in speeds car to car due to the different rake of the screens but would show which is better at slower speeds if you can get them both on one screen side by side.
In my own usage experience, ultra glaco will start working at a higher speed compared to others in the glaco range. The only exception is when it starts to weaken.
Wonder what would happen if you put it on your headlights?
I’d imagine they’d bead water
They do one specifically for plastic called Glaco Blave; use it on plastic lenses and motorbike helmet visors
Will autofoam and touchless from BH remove this ?
No way lol
Can i use this on the other windows too or only front?
yes m8
does this stuff work on a windshield that has millions of microscopic chips in it?
Yes my m4 has chips
Can I use it on all the windows on my car..
Yes m7
Thanks for the vid - love the channel. This looks great - can you use it on polycarbonate? I was thinking of a motorcycle helmet visor.... this would be a godsend....
i think its for glass primarily chris.
glaco dx or gyeon quick view? nice question
Stay tuned
Is this product layer able?
i dont think so mate. put too much on and you might be able to see the film more. top it with "de glaco" if you want to.
Any update? Any smearing in cold conditions?
no mate, the key is after the wet buff, do a really good dry buff with a nice agressive glass towel so that the glass looks totally clear. If after application you have a mirky film you have too much product on there thats not been buffed. proper prep with the compound is critical as well. I have a video coming soon show this and ultra in real life usage and the differences with them.
@@ForensicDetailing lovely thanks man
Is it a bit more forgiving in application than H2GO?
its been 5 years since I used H2go. I think ease of application is more or less the same. But I will do glass sealant shootout soon.
@@ForensicDetailing it can't come soon enough
What's the best way to prep the windscreen before applying this? And in general what's the best way to really deep clean the windscreen?
glaco compound mate we covered this in the video.
@@ForensicDetailing Yeah I realised after commenting aha, Cheers 👍🏽
What’s the claimed durability of a single application?
4 months tony. I will side by side it with the 12 month glaco ultra as well. Im interested to see which of the 2 is best.
@@ForensicDetailing no worries, thanks for the reply. keen to see the difference
Have you tried rain drop yet?
Coming soon m8
What causes the windshield judder with wiper blades with some windshield products?
The only thing that really matters with these is price to longevity because there are so many options available. Thus, reviews of these products right after application are useless as quality measures.
Your right. You need to see them all tested against each other to learn about them.
1 small issue... i DO have wiper judder!
I don't. But I'm not doubting you. Warm your blade up with air drier. If it goes when blades are warm then replace blades they may have become brittle. Try cleaning blades. If still judder try out the glaco on the blades
@@ForensicDetailing they are pretty new, so will try to apply some glaco! Thnx man
How can I hide this next purchase from my wife 🥺
under the floor boards :)
@@ForensicDetailing 🤣🤣💰💰
@@ForensicDetailing
The wife??
😳😅
introduce her to a girl friend, your purchases will be a minor issue at this point!! LOL!!
@@MrArranHill lol, bit extreme
Use screen wash.. and not the soft 99 hydrophobic screen wash.. like Tesco screen wash that alot of people use..
Is this video a paid advert?
I believe that’s what “includes paid promotion “ means
@@LSD04 Ah, yes. I missed seeing that part. My bad.
I use their Mirror Coat and it's absurd the hydrophobicity on the side mirrors and the glass lenses on the various cameras around the car.
My one complaint with Soft99 is that their distribution and availability here in Australia is woeful - you just can't find the product anywhere. Their own online presence is largely out of date and their other online retailers never seem to carry stock or go through it so quickly that they can't keep it.
I live in Australia too. Did you end up finding it?
If not, what should I buy that is similar to it?
@@r.k862 - I haven't found it and VEK Tools who sell the Soft99 stuff didn't even reply to my question I sent them via their webpage.
@@seancasgamer does the product leave any water etchings on the glass that won't come off with a normal water wipe?
I see why you have problems at the track. Someone put your steering wheel on the wrong side of the car.
Utter rip off
