I’d love to see this up against CarPro FlyByForte, gyeon q2, and nv nova glass. Would also be great to know what windscreen washer additive works best with these coatings.
I have glaco ultra in my car for more than 12 months, by the way it's been going for a year and a half and it's still very, very good, great video hugs
I have both the Glaco’s When you run out of the black one, the applicator can be used to hold your other sealants (like Angelwax H2Go) and it’ll stay airtight. Just pop the mushroom off with your thumbs. I don’t mind the Glaco not lasting a full year, they are so easy to apply and buff
When you do the final test, can you rig up a fan, to show what speeds these start to work at. My daily drive to work never exceeds 50mph, and is often below 40. Some of the glass sealants I’ve used, don’t work very well at, or below these speeds, so adding a speed test, would add a very informative chapter.
I applied the Ultra Glaco to my car's windows about a month ago and so far, so good. Application was easy and water behavior is what I expected. Also Jon, the link you provided shows the product to be sold out.
Maybe apply it to the windscreen then put go pro inside mounted centrally. Film it from the inside with hosepipe chucking water on it on each setting yours has, turn the wipers on to see what the simulated driving experience would be at each stage. Then you can edit a side by side to show degredation/sheeting at each stage? Just a thought.
Nanolex Urban Glass sealant is what is use. Been on Windows 18months still on there, even on windscreen. No wiper judder either. Quite expensive but worth it.
DX is easy to apply and is hydrophobic but made my wipers judder. I’be removed it now because it’s not fit for purpose for the front screen. Going to try a different brand.
Never again for me. Tried Ultra first, suffered bad wiper judder and smearing when wet. Fitted new blades, still juddering. Coated the new blades with Ultra, still juddering! Removed it completely with Rupes Blue DA compound and then the Glaco compound, leaving a completely smooth and hydrophilic screen. Thought I would give the the DX a go, fitted brand new blades again, lo and behold, juddering! The irony is they judder when the screen is slightly wet, and are smooth when it’s dry! Never again.
Same with me my wiper judder Im using silicone wiper blade..But when i change the silicone blade to rubber blade it fixed the juddering, same issue with rain x when i tried rain x. so the issue is the silicone wiper blade i think its not conpatible with rain x or glaco glass repellent. the rubber blade works perfectly smooth.
Bought the one in orange bottle. Once dry, i had a mare of a time trying to buff it off. Couldnt move it unless i breathed on it then wiped it. Like trying to remove old fashioned t cut.?i got it, see you say use a damp cloth, i was using a dry one. Ill try again.
For testing... I'm thinking a cheap pillar drill with a squeegee / wiper blade fabricated so the drill spins it at low speed against a glass sample panel (about 6" square) You could set a fixed height stop to ensure repeatable pressure and run each sample for a set amount of time... You could even use the same setup for future videos with a polishing pad to test the aggressiveness of abrasives...?
Ultra glaco just for the application only is a solid contender. I did all the screens around and it was a brisk. Party trick is it will wipe off just like a good wax - two swipes and is 100% off. Zero drama. It took me maybe 20mins for side and back, hand-polish with a mild glass polish solution, wipe, prep, wipe, wait few mins to evaporate, glaco it, wipe. Simple. You can do a car around with glaco and still it will just wipe off perfectly. Will see how it sticks on a side windows. Expecting lifetime ;)
Hi Jon I have an Audi A3 - 71 plate, and I applied Gyeon Q2 QuickView and had serious wiper bounce, removed this and applied glaco ultra and same again, both times I applied it to the wipers and removed it from the wipers only for the same result, now I have removed it from the glass and wipers and have bounce free wipers, I had an Audi Q3 and it worked Very well so was disappointed when I tried it again and it didn’t work, will use it up on side windows so not to waste it.
Can you incorporate a test/results for the speed which they start working? Isn’t the point/marketing of these products to reduce wiper use and increase visibility. When they don’t start working until 40mph and 80% of your driving is city 30mph. You don’t get any real benefit and just wear it off with wiper use. There will obviously be a difference between vehicles and the rake of the windscreen, but it would be nice to know which one works at the slowest speed.
Can I suggest that similar to the Glass Cleaner shoot out, you get your friends to give you their user experiences as it seems to vary a lot from person to person when it comes to having a positive experience with a windscreen coating 👍🏻
Found the Ultra applies nicely and buffs out fine, but when you use your wipers you get a haze and see the strokes where you applied it. Waiting for it to rain to see how it is
So after being on the screen for a couple of days, you can no longer see the application pattern, and no smear with the wipers. This repels rain so well you don't need to use the wipers. Be interested to see how ice/snow react to it
Lower speeds is definitely a must have for me. If DX lasts for 4 months that’s good enough for me. I’ve been using AngelWax’s H2Go that works well at low speeds, but it’s only good for 1-2 months.
