I have glaco ultra in my car for more than 12 months, by the way it's been going for a year and a half and it's still very, very good, great video hugs
Any wiper judder?
@@chrissmith8010no judder, everything working perfectly fine
I’d love to see this up against CarPro FlyByForte, gyeon q2, and nv nova glass. Would also be great to know what windscreen washer additive works best with these coatings.
Never again for me.
Tried Ultra first, suffered bad wiper judder and smearing when wet. Fitted new blades, still juddering. Coated the new blades with Ultra, still juddering!
Removed it completely with Rupes Blue DA compound and then the Glaco compound, leaving a completely smooth and hydrophilic screen.
Thought I would give the the DX a go, fitted brand new blades again, lo and behold, juddering!
The irony is they judder when the screen is slightly wet, and are smooth when it’s dry!
Never again.
I also had wiper judder and removed DX. Not fit for purpose on the front screen.
Same with me my wiper judder Im using silicone wiper blade..But when i change the silicone blade to rubber blade it fixed the juddering, same issue with rain x when i tried rain x. so the issue is the silicone wiper blade i think its not conpatible with rain x or glaco glass repellent. the rubber blade works perfectly smooth.
When you do the final test, can you rig up a fan, to show what speeds these start to work at.
My daily drive to work never exceeds 50mph, and is often below 40. Some of the glass sealants I’ve used, don’t work very well at, or below these speeds, so adding a speed test, would add a very informative chapter.
Thank You very much, only vid on youtube that help me to choose between ultra and dx. Take care 😀😀😀
What did you end up choosing and why?
I have both the Glaco’s
When you run out of the black one, the applicator can be used to hold your other sealants (like Angelwax H2Go) and it’ll stay airtight. Just pop the mushroom off with your thumbs.
I don’t mind the Glaco not lasting a full year, they are so easy to apply and buff
the force is strong in you Tosh :) Join me on the dark side and we could rule the universe!
I love a good applicator!
Ultra glaco just for the application only is a solid contender. I did all the screens around and it was a brisk. Party trick is it will wipe off just like a good wax - two swipes and is 100% off. Zero drama. It took me maybe 20mins for side and back, hand-polish with a mild glass polish solution, wipe, prep, wipe, wait few mins to evaporate, glaco it, wipe. Simple. You can do a car around with glaco and still it will just wipe off perfectly. Will see how it sticks on a side windows. Expecting lifetime ;)
Great test, love how detailed your videos are! Thanks
I applied the Ultra Glaco to my car's windows about a month ago and so far, so good. Application was easy and water behavior is what I expected. Also Jon, the link you provided shows the product to be sold out.
Car parts4less have it for £16.69 including the collection charge
Have used the glaco roll on and lasted well over 6 months, almost a year so great stuff 😁 best is using with fresh or new wipers
Guys, Jon, the felt pad on your glaco compound actually lifts off so you can thoroughly wash it clean of paste between applications 👍
I got ultra glaco on my car but as i do city drive more often i will try glaco dx as it works at lower speeds.
Lower speeds is definitely a must have for me. If DX lasts for 4 months that’s good enough for me. I’ve been using AngelWax’s H2Go that works well at low speeds, but it’s only good for 1-2 months.
Nanolex Urban Glass sealant is what is use. Been on Windows 18months still on there, even on windscreen. No wiper judder either. Quite expensive but worth it.
Add Nanovations Vision Protect glass coating to the test candidates. I believe it’s made in Australia.
Nice one Jon. Recently bought the Glaco Ultra but haven't had a chance to use it yet. Looks like I made the right decision in getting it! 👍
Maybe apply it to the windscreen then put go pro inside mounted centrally. Film it from the inside with hosepipe chucking water on it on each setting yours has, turn the wipers on to see what the simulated driving experience would be at each stage. Then you can edit a side by side to show degredation/sheeting at each stage? Just a thought.
I only heard the audio but when you were saying in out in out, all I could think of was Alex listening to a bit of the ole' Ludwig Van and enjoying some milk. I know that it's not from A Clockwork Orange but none the less that's what my mind went to.
I believe it’s the scene by the lake in Pink Panther strikes again. One of my favourite films. Peter Sellers what a legend.
Somewhere over the rainbow! kill him! kill him!!! (you got it)
@@ForensicDetailing I thought you said your dog does not bite……….. that is not my dog 😂.
Keep up the work with the videos, I love what you are doing on your channel 👍🏻
Hi Jon
I have an Audi A3 - 71 plate, and I applied Gyeon Q2 QuickView and had serious wiper bounce, removed this and applied glaco ultra and same again, both times I applied it to the wipers and removed it from the wipers only for the same result, now I have removed it from the glass and wipers and have bounce free wipers, I had an Audi Q3 and it worked Very well so was disappointed when I tried it again and it didn’t work, will use it up on side windows so not to waste it.
Can you incorporate a test/results for the speed which they start working?
Isn’t the point/marketing of these products to reduce wiper use and increase visibility. When they don’t start working until 40mph and 80% of your driving is city 30mph. You don’t get any real benefit and just wear it off with wiper use.
There will obviously be a difference between vehicles and the rake of the windscreen, but it would be nice to know which one works at the slowest speed.
Great Video!
Thank you for your time.
Could I ask where the tubes are from? Any link? Thank you in advance.
Soft99 have 3 glass coatings. 6 month glaco which comes in an orange biscuit style applicator and these 2.
Can I suggest that similar to the Glass Cleaner shoot out, you get your friends to give you their user experiences as it seems to vary a lot from person to person when it comes to having a positive experience with a windscreen coating 👍🏻
i think it might be too long winded a process for a person to try like ten glass cleaners.
i've been using Glaco Ultra for years.....The best for me....not only applying it on windscreen, but on all my car windows and side mirror...and it helps to prevent watermarks....
DX is easy to apply and is hydrophobic but made my wipers judder. I’be removed it now because it’s not fit for purpose for the front screen. Going to try a different brand.
For the test you've got to drop the temp down to copy a good old jank UK morning when setting off to work and it's wet and 5 degrees.
This is by far the best stuff I have used on glass. A real world test done over the past 5 weeks and 7000 miles in UK weather, the protection has all but gone now but I am very impressed.
Would be helpful to know which one you have, if it's all but gone in 5 weeks?
@@Nite-owl Its the Ultra, its not just the 5 weeks thats particularly relevant, its the mileage I have done in this time, some people would only do in 6-12 months.
@@delwynhobbs3548 Good to know. I have the Ultra on and I'm on around 2 months, but only roughly 600 miles. It's still acting like new for me. I replaced Angelwax H2Go with it as that wasn't particularly resilient. With my limited mileage I'm hoping for circa 8-12 months but in truth, if I get six months I'd be delighted, it's THAT GOOD IMO.
@@Nite-owl Yes it will do for at least 3000 miles, its brilliant stuff.
I’d like to see Gtechniq G1, their most durable one, and good old Aquapel, the “handle” you “crack” to get it going, in that test. 🤗
For testing... I'm thinking a cheap pillar drill with a squeegee / wiper blade fabricated so the drill spins it at low speed against a glass sample panel (about 6" square)
You could set a fixed height stop to ensure repeatable pressure and run each sample for a set amount of time...
You could even use the same setup for future videos with a polishing pad to test the aggressiveness of abrasives...?
ever since using glaco, i hardly ever need my wipers anymore.
John , I think Ombrello should be on your list of candidates. Easy to apply and lasts about 20k miles
Found the Ultra applies nicely and buffs out fine, but when you use your wipers you get a haze and see the strokes where you applied it. Waiting for it to rain to see how it is
So after being on the screen for a couple of days, you can no longer see the application pattern, and no smear with the wipers. This repels rain so well you don't need to use the wipers. Be interested to see how ice/snow react to it
Here's a thought . . .
Couldn't this be used almost as a ceramic coating on the whole vehicle after decontamination?
Glass sealants don't bond to clearcoat.
Many thanks for this great comparison video.
I hope you will include some ceramic coatings in your glass comparison i e. Gyeon View (not quick view). I look forward to seeing your next video.
Angelwax h2go has to be in 👌
Please try to include Wolf’s glass sealant in your test
Bought the one in orange bottle. Once dry, i had a mare of a time trying to buff it off. Couldnt move it unless i breathed on it then wiped it. Like trying to remove old fashioned t cut.?i got it, see you say use a damp cloth, i was using a dry one. Ill try again.
Hello John, do you think Ultra Glaco would be stripped by using Carpro Decale as decon wash. Planing on ceramic coating my vehicle but currently have Ultra on the glass which is performing very well and want to save it.
Thanks for posting. I just bought and used the DX. Could I repeat the process again in a few days? Cheers!
If u want to m8
Cheers!
@@ForensicDetailing
Hi Jon love your channel, been thinking of trying Glaxo for a while now after watching your vid will definately be giving DX a go. Also could you possibly do a demo about how to jewel polish your paintwork?
Cheers
Mick
yer to do a jeweling polish really you want to take an ultra fine finishing polish (Scholl S40 or Menz SF3800) on a really soft pad like a flex red or rupes white or scholl black waffle and just slowly do another polishing set. Its a lot of extra work for tiny gains but thats detailing for you. I think I have one in the tank on this.
@@ForensicDetailing Thanks for the quick reply . Just something new to try.
Very helpful video. Thank you.
Did you make a comparison video yet?
One to note for these my might be an interesting one for you to review is anglewax clarity.. it's a screen wash but maintains coatings on the glass.. I use a non anglewax coating and it's really good. And my partner who doesn't like coatings just likes it as it adds enough hydrophobics for keeping clear vision on big splashes. I really rate it as the maintenance.
yer its good stuff
Get an old photocopier, modify it, even comes with the glass!
Nice video. Temperature range for application ?
oh jesus I think like 7 to 25 deg should be ok mate.
Hi can you use this on privacy glass
Angelwax H2go love the stuff 👌
Me too great product
nothing on glaco, i binned my h2go!
@@PixelVogue I use the Glaco compound to clean but still have a bottle of H2go so I’m going to finish it before I think of changing
Use the h2go on the side windows, it’s the only way it lasts
@@andywalsh1185 the compound is the best cleaner ive ever used/ H2Go didnt last anywhere close to Glaco sealant. I applied my last coating around march still going strong
The glaco DX smells heavier like an Isopropyl though
Just watched your The Best Glass Sealant video and you didn't use the Glaco Ultra. I know it was 7 months ago but can you remember the reason you didn't use it in the end?
1 product only per brand, they chose DX.
@@ForensicDetailing Ah okay. Shame as I reckon it would have stacked up a lot better in the longevity department, and in turn water repellency.
I'm using the 2021 version of Carpro flyby fortè. It was hassle to install, it's performance is alright, not amazing like Glacò... in hindsight, I wish I had used Glacò, but let's see what the test brings, I'll be interested in the results. The line from the film.....was it Pink Panther? 😂, I'm probably way off
About to watch this but how does they compare to H2GO? H2GO was nice from my experience. Was using HDD Hydrology before and it didn't exactly do much, but H2GO on the other hand... mega
Coming soon...
I have put the Glaco DX on and the wipers are squeaking , do you apply yours to wipers.
I don't no
Have you tried Gyeon View?
Y
@@ForensicDetailing glaco is still better?
Hi, I have to be honest, I used this Glaco product 6 times now, all without suffering wiper judder.. terrible experience and would not recommend using it..
Been after Glaco Ultra for some time now. Any stores that will ship this internationally? My local Soft99 distributor doesn't carry any Glaco. I even checked ECP, but unfortunately they won't ship Glaco Ultra.
Find your local distributors here
map.soft99.eu
What about activation speed with Ultra? At about how many km/h does it activate?
DX more hydrophobic
@@ForensicDetailing Thanks. But which one activates quicker when it rains while driving?
Cel ce durează 12 luni se observă efectul la 90km/h.
Cel ce durează 3 luni la 50km/h.
Aceste indicații le dă producătorul!
Was there any ghosting with the ultra?
No the key is the dry buff with a proper glass towel to remove excess. If the finish looks good generally the results are. The danger is not dry buffing enough I think
Carpro flybyforte vs Glaco Ultra? which is better?
no idea not used the CP product
Carpro is awful to apply, wiper judder, needs curing, pain to remove. A rare miss from CarPro
Soft 99 glaco left my windscreen with lines on it that you can see when wet. Not sure why
You did not get the full coverage when making the film.
What about the freeze ? does it hold up ?
Tried Glaco DX, its average imo. Durability for me was 8 weeks, 2000 miles. Positives are no wiper judder on initial application or ghosting which is great. I do prefer HDD Hydrology and Angelwax H2GO, for me they offer better performance and durability and just as easy to apply
Dx is wearing out for me now I'm close to 4 months
I am going to try again
Maintain it with de glaco cleaner it top up the protection
@@ForensicDetailing will do, appreciate the advice mate
"If anyone knows of such a machine"
You're stood next to one 🤣
Lol
Like the product
No point in using Wipers if glass is coated?
If you are driving at least 40 mph, you would no need wipers
I love the ultra its brilliant
Iv currently got a glassparency glass coating on mine ordered it direct from the company in America, its great stuff I found out about it off pans channel. Might be worth am email to them John see if they'll send you a few for the test.
Do yourself and the world a favour by never watching Pan again.
I wonder is it any boint using both on the windshield first the 4 month bottle then the 12 month? and how is this product using on the other windows on the car? any point?
No m8 they need bare prep to bond
I have to say that this Glaco product, like most products that go onto any windscreens is bad news. Terrible smearing after using this product. I cleaned and reapplied and got the same results. I personally would not recommend this, or any similar product that claims to help disperse water from your windscreen. The smearing that you get from them just makes it harder to see , especially in winter. Stick to a decent glass polish and you won’t go to far wrong.
its all in the prep. Ive just applied both of these today. the glaco compound is critical. then the sealants go on, once its cured and the wet buff is done the final dry buff must get you to a clean clean finish. when you do that they work well. Then leave them alone. glass polish on its own will leave the glass totally hydrophillic. ill show you the difference soon with just glass polish in one section verus these sealants in real life rainy conditions and you can see if Im getting any smearing. another good tip is use a hydrocarbon cleaner like cleanser fluid on the wipe blades after you do this.
The Pink Panther
Rain x for over 20 yrs, proven and cheap windshield coating...
Love the Spanish opening....
You get that poop smell out of your seats? Lmao
@@NipponStiqqyPaint One word.....CAKED.....
I scrubbed the glass with the dedicated cleaner and put Glaco DX on yesterday.
The glass is visibly clearer and spotless, no hazyness and buffed off relatively easily with a misted damp microfiber after leaving for 7-8 minutes, as it was cold outside. Its definitely hydrophobic as we had a light rainfall last night and it beads up like a freshly waxed panel.
Now I'm getting horrendous wiper judder which is going to drive me mad. Any ideas before I scrub it back off and go without it?
this product reduces surface friction. I have it on mine with no judder. but maybe try new wipe blades.
@@ForensicDetailing thanks for the reply. The blades are Bosch and literally a few months old. I'll give it a wash just incase there is any residue left that I can't see and will keep my fingers crossed.
@@mattblackledge9068 Bit late to see this now so not sure if you'll see my reply but you gotta really go in with a microfiber you don't mind getting mucky and wipe the blades quite hard and even use clay on them, otherwise you will get streaking or judder yea
