Filmation doesn't get enough credit, they took a line of figures that all shared the same 2 basic molds and made each character look discrete and memorable, in the toy line He Man and Man At Arms are basically the same mold with different heads and armor and in the show they look completely different
So glad you opened yours cos I'm really struggling with taking mine out of that beautiful packaging so thanks Dan you're the man and awesome review as always you seemed a lot more pleased with this guy also mine isn't anywhere near as shiny as yours and many other pics I've seen online so it might be worth a mention that if they aren't under studio lights and they're just on your shelf under normal light that they may look just fine, anyway I've waffled on for to long love ya Dan keep on keeping on!
Isn't the inclusion of the axe and shield supposed to be based off of his his animated appearance in the 80's toy commercial? Oh, plus the Faker eyes actually glow in the dark! :)

I like so many people, had to miss out on the original Mattel releases of Filmation Skeletor and He-Man. I have to say, that I'm glad of it. I always hated the ankle joints of the Filmation figures, and seeing a comparison of the original and the Super 7, there's a different quality to the head sculpt that I think looks better on the newer release. I prefer the colors of the boots, loin cloth, and sword. They are more accurate to the cartoon colors. I dont get all the hatred of the Super 7 version, mainly because I prefer the improvements such as the loin cloth portion and ankles. But also, I noticed the difference in the head sculpts and paint apps in that last comparison shot, and see the Super 7 version has a slightly more stout jawline. It actually looks more filmation accurate to me. The only downside I see to this figure set is in the laughing He-Man sculpt, where his mouth isn't painted red/pink. But it isn't a problem for me, since I've been accustomed to paint deco touch-ups and kit-bashing since the 1990's Matrix film figure set. Reading the previous comments, I fear that all of you nitpickers are gonna cause this figure line to get cancelled before we see more Filmation characters released. You may want to give them a chance to improve before you just defecate over this line. Thank God I still have a chance at getting my hands on a Filmation Sorceress and possibly a Teela, as well.
All in all, great review. I enjoyed the Ultimate Skeletor review, and am looking forward to getting my order of these two figures in the next two days.
I have booth. This he man and the ultimate skeletor. Dislike the glossy plastic and noted i am no the only one. But is my first and new he man figure since 80s so i am very pleased of it. Thanks a lot pixel dan!!!!!!
The Super7 one looks so much better.
The robot head is actually not faker but rather a robot decoy heman man at arms had drive the attack trak when a bad guy blasted it..then you saw the robot driver have that face

Just got my Super 7 He-Man and Skeletor, and they are actually pretty good figures. The plastic is a bit shiny, but not as much in hand as it was in this video, so not a problem. The plastic doesn't feel as cheap as alot of you were making on, in actuality, the swords for He-Man and Skeletor feel alot sturdier, and there was no boiling water needed to straighten anything out, like I had to do previously with some of my Matty Collector figures. I much rather prefer the weapons plastic this time around. The ankles aren't as loose on this figure, as they always were with the previous He-Man figures. They're pretty set. I'd say. Having the figure in hand, the head looks more Filmation correct than the Matty Collector headsculpt. I'm sure many of the previous commentators will disagree, but one only needs to be objective and look at the side profile. Super 7 did their homework and the profile on the sculpt is a proof of PERFECT rendering. One needs only look at the animated He-Man walking in profile, during many points in the show. Hope you guys give this one a chance while it's still on the secondary market, because there is alot to like here.

Great video. About the sword's hand, can it be changed with the mattel one?
If you were to heat up both figures' arms with hot water or a hairdryer, you should be able to pull the hand out from the arm. If Super7 and Mattel used the same connector pegs then it would be a simple matter of swapping them over and replugging the hands in. If this figure has revised or different pegs however, you wouldn't be able to do it. x
With some skill and know how, you could probably mod it, but it would take a fair amount of work.
Hope this version fits in the windraider , I ordered both not thinking he might not fit in the classic windraider
Hey Dan, the Faker eyes glow! It's not just paint flair. Pump some bright lights on it for a little bit then cut the lights out!
even if they didn't. one could get a glow in the dark clearcoat paint. and just use a fine tip brush to add a glowing accent themselves if they are going to open it at all. just a point I was sharing
so what? did u wanted led lights inside their eyes? shhhh
All super7 toys are resculpted to mimic the og mattel as much as possible. Even Lion-O’s hair sculpt seems like the same mold but it was actually a remake based in the original mold but have been microscopically been altered to stay within their copyright limits. If u look at ANY of these figures with a 3-8+ magnification then you will see the size, sculpt and shape differences.

I replaced the Super 7 head with Mattel's as that i see it resembling the Filmation series more.

I'm honestly surprised you don't just disable comments Dan, but I respect your decision to encourage open discussion. Even if most of the comments continue to discourage folks from these figures.
My order should be shipped out today or tomorrow and I will form my opinion once I have it in hand to see just how solid or not the quality is. I was not disappointed with The Sorceress I got from Super 7 last year and am eagerly looking forward to the rest of the offerings this year. Those Movie versions are quite impressive, and if I didn't already have the Filmation Wave 4 Classics on Pre-Order I'd jump at the chance to snag them as well as I've always wanted Movie Skeletor and He-Man in my collection.
That being said this review was highly informative. And very well constructed. I can't believe people argue that Mattel is better when clearly their earliest attempts with those awful looking ankle joints are indicators that Mattel had flaws in sculpt decisions just as much as Super 7 seems to suffer from at times. Everyone complains that Super 7 is worse and yet I can't help thinking that if not for Super 7 Mattel would have completely canceled the subscription series a few years ago and Masters of the Universe Classics would have ended long before we got any of the awesome figures we've seen in the past two years.
There may be paint problems, or plastic issues due to the glossy appearance of the figures making them a lot more shiny than some may care for, but they are still representing the series we all loved and grew up with and giving us toys of He-Man, Skeletor and the rest to continue to support so we aren't faced with the same problems currently plaguing G.I.Joe. (After all Hasbro is no longer producing G.I.Joe toys so technically G.I.Joe is a dead toyline. At least MotU and PoP is still represented by figures to collect and enjoy.)
Thank you for the unbiased informative review. Despite the QC issues which dishearten some you are still approaching these figures in a professional and entertaining manner and I look forward to Skeletor's review next.

Truth is a subjective term and you are using it to defend an argument which makes no logical sense. In truth I was referring to the completely vitriolic and toxic negativity spreading around Super 7 simply because of QC issues which 'shouldn't exist' but do because these are toys being manufactured at cost and QC issues are bound to affect a larger number of the product in question when they are made to order ALA the subscription method Super 7 relies upon to fund said manufacture.
I do not expect perfection from any toyline I collect. I see Super 7 as a smaller company with less power to make the factories sit up and take notice when it comes to paint issues. Changing plastics is a necessary evil when the costs to produce same begin to rise. So the glossy unpainted plastics do not bother me entirely.
When it comes to breakages I have heard nothing but good things about Super 7 offering replacements which tell me they have decent customer service.
If you wish to bandy comments such as cheerleading about as if it's some kind of insult, by all means continue. I don't collect toys to discuss the fundamentals about how excellent a company is when it comes to manufacturing them. I collect toys to display cherished characters from my childhood and enjoy them as they are meant to be enjoyed. Nitpicking them all to death is a useless endeavor and trying to change the minds of the masses by bandying about such ludicrous ideas as boycotting a toy company because of changes in manufacturing is a supreme waste of time.
FWIW he's responded to comments I've left in the past, as well as reacted to other comments of mine as well. I think it's probably just a case of him not having the time to go through all the comments for every video.
This. I'm not saying Super 7 hasn't had QC issues, but I don't think some are being quite realistic when it comes to a small company producing an extremely niche product. I'm sure Super 7 is aware of the same issues everyone else is, but they also have to deal with the logistics of production as they stand at this point.
Obviously, it's a personal choice whether or not somebody feels these figures are worth the price, but if you want new MOTU classics figures at all, this is what they're going to be.
He-Man looks like he's ready to wrestle since he's covered in baby oil. lol Joking aside if you missed out big time with Mattel's version than this version is right up your alley.

It's so subtle and looks kinda cheaper but I think I actually like the Super7 facial expression more?
Eye brows are also painted better on the super 7 figure same shape as cartoon and eyes look better.

$20-25 was actually how much it originally cost, but it sold so fast that it's in small quantities with inflation reflecting that.

Well you have the right to spend more than 200$ on ebay for the Mattel version and his horrible ankles...
Yeah dummy but the extra charge here is that you won't find this figure just about anywhere. Even if it was at $20. A bunch of toy collecting assholes would buy this and resell it to you got the same price.

Know what? Applying the alternate head, and assigning this figure the role of Faker, then the glossiness becomes, not only palette-able, but makes sense. If it's a robot of He-man then the cyborg skin should look "less natural", right? At least this what i'm telling myself .... (Super 7 can now do their Peewee Herman impression when he hits the curb on his bike, flies in the air and rolls up to his feet. "I meant to do that.")
I have both the Mattel one and this new Super 7 version, and honestly I like both for different reasons. The ankles on the Mattel one may look awful, but they have that rocker joint that gives you extra posability. As it is, the Super 7 one tends to have one foot firmly on the ground, and the other slightly off. The new version has a better face though, and those extra accessories make it worth while. I also miss the wrist tilt from the Mattel version, but I'm not going to try and force them apart just to see if they can fit since I don't want to break either one. I also don't like how pointy the upper part of the legs are. Often times when posing it, those tips will poke out around the loin cloth and look weird. Also on mine, the head doesn't want to tilt down and stay down. He is constantly kinda look up a bit and it bothers me. Not sure how to fix that.
i bought this figure, the chest rig tabs are glued, the left one on mine was not clipped in the package and does not stay in place, it will have to be glued, very pricey, this should have been in the $20 to $30 range. i also have the Ultimate skeletor and thankfully no issue with that one other than the price.
I'm sure a big factor in the price is the fact that the production runs are limited. They don't have economy of scale, so it costs more to produce, meaning a higher price point to the consumer without necessarily having higher quality.

S7 lied.they stated late March as their shipping date but now changed to mid to late April.

What? The super seven wrist joint doesn't move to accommodate the sword pointing up in the iconic pose? I actually have both. But they're still in boxes. This surprises me. Kind of irritates me. A simple thing. Kind of a main thing I'm guessing too many
Mine came with the paint on his chest logo all scratched. Paint mistakes all over. Mattel gave me a refund

Although I wish there was a rope or Bola, because it appeared frequently in the show 😊 And what I'm really looking forward to are: Tella the formation figure and The Movie Version of the Shredder 😊🙏
I really hate that Super 7 put the sword sheath on the WRONG side. At least Mattel's version can swivel. I had to take it apart and modify the sheath so that it angles to the right. I also see that your neck joint is angled to the right instead of straight.
If you watch the cartoon, the sheath is actually shown on both sides.
Yet it was never unsheathed with facing the left. At least Mattel's version swiveled. Nope, this is just sloppy and careless on Super 7.

I click always on the like button before I watch a video even if I stop watching it after few seconds (happens often with music videos - not my kind of music but the like stays) .
I normally watch in a year over 3000 videos and asmuch I remember I have disliked in the last 5 years not more than 10 videos (the reason was often the persons in the videos had spocken bad about other persons or was telling lies) .

Damn. The head on the Mattel version looked derpy as hell. I didn't realize how bad it was until you put them side by side. This head is definitely better. Also, from the back of that packaging it looks like Prince Adam's skin and hair is tan and dirty blonde colored like He-Man instead of the pale skin and light blonde hair from the cartoon. Wtf?
Got this guy too since I missed out on the Mattel version. I really wish the packaging was collector friendly. Super 7 really failed in that aspect and I believe due to laziness regardless of what Brian said. Also I'm not a fan of the glossy plastic. The hand hinge should have stayed the same as Mattel's too. Overall, besides the ankles, the Mattel version is superior. I hope S7 is reading these comments.

I have both versions, and this new ultimate He-man doesnt even come close to the original version from Mattel! The Super 7 version is way too glossy, the head sculpt is different and definitely not as good as the original sculpt, the plastic has that weird transparent look especially on the face of the figure, the articulations are not as good and the colors are also different and not as good as the original...the only thing worth buying from the Super 7 version is the extra accessories, besides that its not even close to be as good as the Mattel version

You probably dont own the original to say so ething like that, because believe me you would see the difference if you could hold them both in hand, the Mattel version head sculpt is easily the best! And te extreme glossy look to the figure is so weird, and why does the face has that semi-transparent look to it!? Its so distracting. And why did they removed the extra articulation on the wrist? We cant display the figure in his iconic “By the power of Grayskull!” pose anymore! Theres definitely more problems with this figure than just the cheap plastic...especially when we are paying an extra $10 compared to what Mattel was asking, and we had better figures with much higher quality with Mattel! Super7 should hit it out of the park every single time at that $35 price point! Just look at NECA, i dont know if you own the 1990 movie TMNT figures, but thats how you make high quality figures, they are simply incredible, and they are only $22 !! Its unacceptable to have such low quality figures when we pay $35 for them, Super7 should be ashamed, they have no excuses
Trash/junk is: the ugly pants of mattel, the horrific ankle joints of mattel and the small eyes (and cross eyed) of mattel. So I prefere ever the Super7!

I know that Mattel has better colors, right hand with correct articulation for the "by the power of Grayskull" pose and is not as "glossy" as Super7. In addition, the Super7's sheath is on the wrong side, ok, I agree! But the simple fact that Mattel has ugly pants and horrible and still loose ankles (the figure falls forward and does not stand up well), that is enough for me to prefer the ULTIMATE. I'm sorry, but it's my opinion. And finally, despite the well painted face I don't like Mattel's little eyes. And that other people also say in other reviews. But ok, everyone has their own taste and I will not argue with anyone else. God bless you all! 😃👍🏻

The S7 version has bags under his eyes. He Man might actually be as tired of S7 milking the variants like we are
The only thing i find better on Mattel are the dark colors. But: the ugly pants, small (and cross-eyed) eyes and the horrific ankle joints of Mattel are totally junk/trash. And so I prefer ever the Super7.
I love how he comes with Alfredo Alcala's prototype battle axe and the different heads but that's probably the only thing that I loved about him. What I hate is that (again) super7 put the sheaf for his power sword on the wrong side again. Just like they did for holiday He-Man, the shield is to big, the colors suck for his weapons and the joint for his hands are horrible. I'm disappointed but he would make a cool faker for my Mattel He-Man. Great video like always Dan.

The heads on both versions look very rough.
Any idea if the boots from Super 7 model can transfer to the Mattel version so we can have the best of both worlds in one figure? (no crummy ankle hinge)
Actually Dan I think the robot face is not faker but the version of He-man built by Man At Arms from the episode "Disappearing Act" but still a cool add on for the figure.
