That's actually the sword from his vintage cross-sell art. Love it. It's really a shame that every single reviewer has had a stuck visor. With thin and sloppy paint apps, There STILL being an issue with the hip pegs, and now totally unexpected issues like this, these guys are going to have to work really hard to keep consumers of this line.

Different how? Every image I see on Google of the cross-sell art of Tri-Klops pretty much shows a sword with a silver blade and a gold handle and hilt with etchings. If this isn't the sword, it's damn close.

The Filmation figure appears much taller than the original classic figure.
Very cool figure, and he looks great. But the issue with the visor is something you would expect out of a retail figure that doesn't cost as much, given the price tag for these club figures, I would expect these issues to be taken care before they are released. It sort of shows Super 7's inexperience in dealing with big lines. Thank you for being honest and showing this so other collectors will know what to expect.

For the amount of money these things cost, the fact you have to do that to the visor because of Super 7's mistake is just unforgivable!! That's just ridiculous. I won't buy it because of that! They should have made sure that the head did spin before going to retail! WOW! It's truly amazing how much toy companies have fallen and have gotten so lazy with their quality control!!.... wait,.. no.., not amazing... Sad!.... Just Sad!

great review of the filmation-designed character! the blaster included with the figure was featured in the episode "eye of the beholder."
I found a faster way to get the visor off is the “hot bath” method - I microwave a Pyrex measuring cup full of water for about five minutes, then soak the plastic for about one minute. The visor pops right off; the next trick is to clean off residue on the knob, and add a lubricant before putting the visor back on (I reheated the water for about a minute). Had opposite problem with Fang-Or; fang head would not stay on, but I popped it in the freezer for about 20 minutes, and afterwards it fit on the neck leg nicely and also looked less waxy/glossy than before.
Q: What would be a good shade of acrylic green to get the figure closer to the cartoon/MOTUC version?
@pixeldan do you think we’ll have to deal with this head QC with the Man-E-Faces?? 😟 for him it would literally break my heart if you can’t see any of the other faces.

Since the rotating part at Man-E-Faces is internal and not external like here, I don't think the part can be inserted while it's not cooled down or dried because then the paint job would be messed up completely. Super7 should have learned their lesson here.
All Super 7 is doing is a quick cash-grab before they lose the license.Brian (head demon of S7) has such a pissy attitude toward fans. His apologies are so hollow. He knows a company with integrity would replace all of their defective products, but he has NO intention of doing it.

Upper torso looks great for me no bulky oversize side lats.... I've used the hot water technique to pop the visor off... Despite the issue i really like this fig

I suggest that owners find a plastic hobby prying tool called a "spudger". It is softer and slightly flexible to avoid damaging plastic or rubber toy parts, but still strong enough for you to get some leverage on it.
Man your are braver than me. I’m worried I will chip or break mine if I attempt to get that visor loose.
thankful to Super 7 for keeping the line alive but yet again they have QC issues on key points of action figures that shouldn't be issues at all... Super 7 is making it a bad habit to not only make changes without explanation but acting like the fans who are paying tons of money on these figures are too demanding. You can't force people to buy 4 figures at a time and give them flack and figures with paint app and other issues like loos joints...
The “Forced 4-Packs” are terrible. As soon as they announced that I decided not to buy. And I’m very glad I did
I love the filmation figures. It’s just so hard to find them. And on eBay it’s ridiculously expensive. Why not just make it available to the public from their own website and with a good quantity. If they run out of stock, then make some more. Please Super7 and Mattel.
It's not unreasonable that they don't want to take the risk of carrying stock for something that appeals to such a small niche market. Tons of other collectible lines function the same way.

The reasons they gave for the neon green colour sound a bit bogus to me.
Maybe the original cels were a different shade, but that's not what fans want.
This line is not living up to my expectations so far.. 😕
It’s almost like Matty never left.
My worry is not really about doing some work to make the visor spin (that can even be fun to a certain extent), but the fact that when the visor is reattached it won't look as much in place as before. Mind the gap ;)
Mine only took like 2 mins i just blow dryyed away from his head on high rotating him and then i lifted from the front it popped off clean i waited a min and just pushed it back down on his head and done no screwdriver, nice and neat. Actually my favorite from the filmation line.
I'm sure some of them probably have less paint clogging the mechanism. Some probably have more.
I actually love this figure . I fixed mine with a dryer and took his visor and was very easy. And mine figure did not had to much paint inside his helmet, I used hair dryer and a very small screwdriver proper for toys and now it works perfectly .
Is it me or Tri-Klops torso looks different compared to the standard MOTUC torso ?

Many flaws with this figure. Looks good though. But main flaw... I still haven’t received it yet. It’s painful to see a review video of a figure I paid a year ago and still is not in my hands yet. :(

I actually think there needs to be a do-over on that figure to fix that visor. Shouldn't have to practically break the toy to use the action feature. But great review!!
Man, they really effed up on that green color. Heard they were going for a lighter shade but it came out too bright. I would've left it as is. Ah well.

Great video! Thank you! This was a pretty darn cool figure, one of my favourite characters, and now my Classics Tri-Klops finally has his "Cross-Sell Art" sword.
I think Super7 gets an unfair amount of stick from their haters. Instead of just saying "Boil Tri-Klops' head for a few seconds to free up his visor, then go boil your OWN head," they made a whole new run of fixed Tri-Klops replacement heads, packed them in specially-printed envelopes and sent them out to everyone. It was, by far, NOT the least they could do, but it was definitely the RIGHT thing to do, and they should get credit for that.

What removal of gimmicks? I've collected all of the Super7 figures so far and haven't seen a removal...
From Super7's perspective, I'm sure these horrendously defective failures aren't issues - they just add 'extra play value' to the figure as you try to repair it. Indeed, perhaps they should advertise the Filmmation Tri-Klops with the following tagline: "Can YOU repair Tri-Klops? Can you be the true MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE and save the day? DO you have THE POWER?" ;)

Marcelo's Toy Room Yes. THAT is how much #Super7 cares about the customers they’re already rooking by forcing them to buy 4 figures at once to get 1 you actually want. And 12-15 months later when they finally ship, they’re garbage toys made as cheap as possible and sold for insane prices via a crazy online store that tells you to... do normal stuff! Like BREAKING the figure you’ve already overpaid and waited absurdly too long to receive. And the shmuck Brian is so obnoxiously disrespectful and brazenly blasé about screwing people over in that #PixelDan #NYToyfair video...
Woody I’m sorry, I’m in the same boat. I (me, myself) see this as a quick cash-grab before their contract expires. The MOTU license will surely revert back to Mattel if the 2019 movie actually happens. S7 can’t handle a big-budget global movie toyline. So Mattel will take control again several months before the movie in order to have real toys on real shelves in real stores at fair prices a month or so before the movie premier. S7’s window is closing, they’re panicking, switching factories (after touting the fact they were going to use the same factory MattyCollector used).

Have to be honest, Super 7 seem like amateurs. Mattel had issues too, but it sort of seems like everything Super 7 has put out so far has had issues.
Snowmation The Hawke I got is a mess. Her hip piece is miscast and one of the ankle joints has way too much play, it practically rotates freely. On top of that, her hands are way too soft and her arm joints are way too weak to hold her blaster. Super7 need to really step up their QC.
BFBeast666 Same. I got two Hawke's so I could display one as Hawke and the other as Delora. One is a wobbly mess of joints; and the other is missing the extra head.
They are obviously out of their depth.

Not sure if someone has said this already. But would work much better if you dunk his head in boiling water for about 10 seconds. Just boil a. Kettle and fill a bowl up. Will stop any warping at the same time

It won't. The plastic won't get above 212 and it doesn't melt at that low a temp. Boil-and-pop is so much better than the hairdryer or heat gun trick.
Call me crazy but I don’t like having to FIX a BRAND NEW figure straight out of the package.

ingealcocer No. I'm an action figure customizer and have never had an issue or damage from doing this.
Ok, here's what I'm not understanding here, It takes Super 7 half a year just to release a wave of figures so why are they rushing with wet paint that's causing paint to rub off on the weapons and the figures, As long as it takes them to release I think they need to chill and let these figures dry.. and then they can let them sit 5 more months before we get them. We should see Karg's wave 2 sometime at Christmas.. haha
Well Dan, showing the problems with the visor and paint apps certainly brought out ALL the gripers. Can't blame them, though. At $40 a pop, the visor should function right, straight out of the box. The paint? Big fat hairy deal. Not a biggie. It was strange how the video part made the color look fine, but photos made it look NEON green. I will have to buy the figure on the secondary market, in order to see if the naked eye sees what the video sees, or what the photography sees. I'm sure all the gripers will be scalping theirs at a ridiculous 2x the price, so I may have to pass if I can't find a decent scalp.

DannyBoy7783 Yeah their vinyl stuff is bizarre. I'll admit imnpretty deep into geek culture and I have now idea what they are from and what they are supposed to represent.
the vinyl stuff they put out are all pretty much art/kaiju toys from different artists homaging japanese toy companies from the 60s and 70s like bullmark, marusan and nitto. they are weird because they are designed by artists (usually) that are influenced by kaiju based movies and tv shows like godzilla, gamera, ultraman, kamen rider, and giant robot animes from the 70s like mazinger and earlier ones like gigantor. they make them because the owner of super7 (brian flynn, not sure of the spelling) is a huge collector of the original toys from japan and im guessing of the newer stuff too. super7 started out as a magazine about all things japanese vinyl and kaiju related, they didnt get into making there own toys til later. i have been into this kind of stuff since the 80s but to someone who is not initiated into the niche culture of vinyl art toys and kaiju toys i can see why it would look really weird but there are some very cool figs out there.
For the price they sell these things for one would think the quality would be unparalleled, unfortunately for the MOTU customers including myself I’m very unhappy they got the licensing for this line.
I'm not defending the issues these figures have had, but in reality it was probably this or nothing.

He is a cool figure, love the cartoon style simplicity on the Filmation line, pitty his head has issues turning and the green a little bit too bright, but they all look amazing together as they did in the classic cartoon series 😍☺ awesome review ☺
Aaron Clarke Nothing personal, but I have to disagree with having an “oh well” attitude for a figure that cost a LOT of $, shipped about a year late, the visor you need to fix yourself at risk of destroying the figure, and a green that S7’s Brian essentially said “Just deal with it.” I wouldn’t take that kind of trash from any store or any brand new purchase. Super 7, as people are finally realizing, are terrible at making toys.
Bryan Stradley Totally understand your disappointment, and agree that for a adult collectable figure that has a high price and has dedicated fans, they should have got them correct before releasing them and listen to the motuc fans ☺ still love the overall design, just needs some fine tuning ☺😊 I have not purchased any from super 7 yet, and only have the figures sold through Matty Collector ☺
how do you screw up Tri-Klops' gimmick like this?
Ok. I think I am done with Super 7. I got this wave and ALL of them have had issues. I can't pop off Hordak's arm to swap the canon arm. I'm not gonna risk breaking it. Man-at-arms' left boot pops off very easy. I had to cut some of the extra plastic on the peg so that the boot would peg in properly but also added clear nail polish to tighten the joint. I really hate that they removed the thigh swivel on Teela making her less posable and hate ALL the neck ball joints on all of these. They don't pose well at all, only left and right and feel like they will break over time. I also hate their reason for making this color choice. I don't have the original Classics Tri-Klops. Same with the Ram-man. I missed out on the original version and hate that they gave us an orange colored one. And now I have to use the hot water trick to make the eyes swivel.

Bummer... You can dig up a Mattel Tri-Klops from 5 feet down in a school play ground sandbox from the 90s, originally 'lost' after years of play in the 80s and still work him.

Dan is great, and his videos are terrific. But he needs to really call this out for what it is: a shocking failure on Super7's part and an insult to all paying customers. There is simply NO excuse for this visor problem - NONE AT ALL. This is an inherently defective figure, and Super7 owe every pre-ordering customer a REFUND. No question.
And Dan needs to be more aggressive in criticising such concerted indifference to paying customers. He no doubt has to strike a balance in order to maintain his relationships with various toy companies, but he owes a greater debt to his UA-cam audience and needs to be candid in his reviews in order to remain a legitimate critical voice in the toy collecting community. Dan veered close to becoming a corporate shill in this video: his unchecked condemnation of this figure, and Super7, should have been far more decisive here.
Dan's style has never been overly critical. He's always been more centered on running down features and pointing out any issues so that people have information with which to make their own choices.
He certainly didn't gloss over or shy away from the visor issue, he just presented it in a factual, as opposed to critical, manner. I'm pretty sure anyone who watches the video can decide if it's something that bothers them based on what's shown here.
And this is why I don't collect modern masters figures a lot of them look amazing and figures you can't ever get in any other line but the price point waiting a year hoping the figure has good qc and paint it's just too big of a risk for me

His torso is not the standard He-Man torso. A bit thinner and less built.
Hot water is the best way to heat up the figs, leave them in a glass of hot water for a few minutes then get it fixed! Been using the technique since Stratos wings.
As bad as some of these are, I'm too much of a MOTU fan to not get them. As per Dan not really going all out on the QC issue, he can't say anything too bad about them since he has 'ties' to Super7 and Brian and He-man.org. I've pre-ordered 3 Tri-Klops and only got 2. They gave me an extra 'Hawke'. I've emailed Super7 about it. But chances are, I probably won't get that 3rd Tri-Klops since I'm sure they've ran out of it and hence they packaged another Hawke it its place.
I really don't get the notion that he was somehow "soft" on the visor thing. He broke down the actual issue in great detail. What would be the point of going on a tirade against the company after that?

John Rhodes demand a replacement. Letting them get away with this now just means they’ll keep doing it.
Just my opinion, but I don't really see why it has to rotate when it's essentially a display piece.

He admits they screwed up, then basically says “tough luck! We’re not giving replacements or refunds to the few (few?) unhappy customers.” He’s a serious jerk about it! I wouldn’t say that about someone if I didn’t mean it. It’s in Dan’s “Official” walkthrough with Brian, not the first quick-look Dan did the night before. I’ll try to dig the link up!

Super 7 is not doing a good job by the way, no wonder why WB did not want to continue with Thundercats line.
The Classics version looks terrible, the visor doesnt match the vintage figure at all. The new filmation one seems to have serious build quality issues and the buck is far too similar to He-Man but at least the figure looks ok.
What's up with his loincloth? Looks flat and without any sculpt unlike the ones on Beast Man and Trap-Jaw.

Do NOT pry the visor with a screwdriver or anything. I never use the hair dryer technique. After watching this video, I just held the figure's head under hot water to soften the plastic. I thought it would be tough after watch this video. After two quick soaks of hat water from the sink, the visor swiveled very easily with no damage. I had to pop the head off the ball joint for more leverage for twisting but that's it.
Why would u want to rotate his head. Just keep it like a statue
Each of Tri Klops eyes has different powers. Not being able to turn his visor is a huge problem. It would be like being unable to swap Trap Jaw's mechanical arm weapons.
It's fitting the eyes got stuck on the animation version of this character because Tri-Klops needing a blow dryer, probably stolen off of Beast-Man, to unstick his eyes sounds like something that would happen on the show. Thanks for the video, Dan.
