I would like to share a story about Ari and this video: Last weekend in Monte Carlo 2023, he landed with an helicopter on SS3 and I was honoured to see the stage and chat with him for some time. At some point I mentioned to him how he was (and still is) an inspiration as a driver and also as a human being. I also do rallyes (in Portugal) and his career and life had an impact on me since very early age and this video synthesizes what Ari is about. Talking about the video he said to me: "You know, I didn't even know the video existed, and some years ago when I saw it for the first time tears came to my eyes. I don't even know the guy who made it, I know he his finish and I would like to meet him one day." Ari says in the video: "We all are given gifts, god-given gifts and talents" Ari's driving talent gave us goosebumps but Antti also gives us goosebumps with his videos, because he is also a poet - a Poet of making racing videos. Thank you both 🙏 I wish one day you two meet
That's an absolutely lovely story and it's great to know he's well and out and about. I've recently been watching Amjayes2 which has some excellent footage of Juha Kankunnen? and others. Really like Juha and Ari and the other Finns and Scandinavians. Which is slightly unusual for an Englishman who should like Burns and McRae etc. Thank you for sharing. Best wishes from the UK.
This gave me a real lift, nothing to do with rallying. The man himself is an inspiration to make the best of what you have and experience in life. They should show this to kids starting out. Belief is a powerful thing.
Walter once said Ari drove even/bit too fast some times.. He said that is the reason he was time to time way too fast for others. His limit was that much higher, but it eventually got him... It almost took his life. You can drive on the limit for only so long..
same, his words are actually super inspirational. and not just for young rally drivers, but his lessons on life seem pretty valuable in general. He has a wonderful mindset :)
Bloody awesome. This weekend many people (incl me), were lucky to share a moment with this great man, a true ambassador of our loved sport of rallying and a true gentleman who speaks with such clarity of life in a motivating way. We need many people people like him.
Someday i will be a rally driver! Even though I have no money and no one in my family cares or supports me to be a race car driver i know i will be one! My love for rally is indescribable and no one or nothing will get in the way of me becoming one! Cheers
Hyper X Pranks Cheers man! Best of luck to you, and your career! hope to race against you one day! whats your name? just in case we actually do end up racing together
What an amazing video about an amazing man. Very privileged to have seen him perform on many stage and rally. Him and Toivonen for me the greatest of them all. Thanks to all involved in putting this treasure together.
Possibly the best tribute video I've ever seen. The final part and the ending quote are just stunning. Thanks Ari for these moments. And thanks Antti for wraping them up so beautifully.
It's amazing to watch mr. Vatanen. He looks like your regular school teacher. Very calm, soft spoken man. Then you watch some of his driving footage and you're convinced that this guy is a complete lunatic. LOL. Hell of a driver.
Yesterday I have the opportunity to have a conversation with Vatanen before the start of Rally spirit in Portugal where he was invited to participate with an Escort Cosworth. I was waiting for this moment for more than 30 years but it came finally. He is, in fact, a great driver but also a great man and at the same time, a simple person. Long life Mr. Vatanem was my final wish to him.
He just put my thoughts as words. What a great man, gentleman. Sometimes I feel sad how our world is turning upside down, it really hurts how humankind is destroying itself. But when I drive there is only that moment, every else just disappears. Just like in music, when you hear that perfect symphony and all your worries just disappear for that moment. "Life is all about entertainment." And with these words I say, I will be professional rally driver someday. -Kiitos Antti upeasta vdeosta.
I cry'd a bit , I cannot subdue the passion I have for this sport I cannot give it up and I cannot stop and nothing else makes me truly feel alive it's the only thing that doesn't just feel like going through the motions to me. Don't you give up either Antti you deserve to make it there eventually.
Driving that car is more hard than people can think... Its Peuget 205 turbo 16v 350hp 400 nm and weight of 980kg when we add that it was 4wd and that car own weight is lightweight.
"You cannot measure one's life in seconds or by number of places on the podium, you measure somebodies life who's in the public eye by the impact he makes on people, how he touches people, people feel, and if people don't feel anything, they don't remember anything. Results only don't make people feel, but if you live it as a person with flesh, and blood, and you always go for it, you encourage other people to go for it in the various stories in their life."
Saludos
He was one of the best rallye drivers ever, sometimes too fast, but always a crazy driver,i have seen him on many rallyes. Nice memories... And a great video..thanks
Ari Vatanen told me to watch this today!!! :D Then he signed the bonnet of my peugeot 205 gti :) BEST DAY EVER ;) Great video too, i see why he recommended it to me.Great bit about the Peugeot
Look at 13:16-19 min in. He almost drop the rear wheel over the edge ... car control or luck? - Your call, I know what I think having watched Ari Vatanen through the 80's & 90's
No; that`s car control, instinct..and a small amount of luck! I was lucky enough to witness some of "Harry`s" escapades in the UK.; from Rothmans Escorts through Mantas, T16`s et al...That natural car control, bravery and self belief, I have only seen equalled by Henri Toivonen and Colin McRae...your call back ;-)
That was put together really well, made me forget about the over censored WRC of today, that i just cant watch anymore (after the 1600 turbo rule, and all the other stuff that's stops people being creative).
MrGreenAKAguci00 you have to consider, when Ari drove the pikes peak, more than 50% of the road was loose sand and gravel and also no road barriers what so ever, so in a sense his time i untouchable! Loeb drove his time on good condition tarmac and barriers all over.
ruffe90 I do consider this but time difference is massive and the car itself stands to great Peugot tradition in pikes peak. Plus the fact that Loeb beat previous full asphalt time by minute tells something. btw I preferred full gravel course too. :)
I remember first time I have seen the film, that´s one the end of this video, where he is c.h. in peugeot. Hardly anything, back then, can make me go wow. And this guy does, it was more like flying, I was so impressed, couldn´t believe my own eyes that something like that is possible, I was astonished.

Great story 😊❤️ Ari is one of a kind. A humble maniac. Best wishes from Finland 🇫🇮✌️

The final act of the film is just amazing.. The voice over from Ari about Life, fits perfectly to the footage of him driving at Pikes Peak
@Nicholas Fouch the old guard were real men, plain and simple.
Yes
"you miss out quite few victories........but you never have a boring life....." what words :)
He is such a great speaker, his message about living life and making an impact on people is simply magnificent.
Walter Roehrl what a gentleman when he was talking about how fast Ari was
***** You do, however, understand that he simply couldn't say "yes" to that question, right?
It would be right up a PR disaster.
***** Aris car was better at that time. it doesnt mean, that walter was superior. he could still push his car harder to equalize the difference
+Dražen Budiš but you can see in his eyes how he really thinks Ari is something else like he is
Walter Roehrl in many parts of his carrier was insisting Ari is a faster driver. Its so nice :D cause they are both amazing
Walter once said Ari drove even/bit too fast some times.. He said that is the reason he was time to time way too fast for others. His limit was that much higher, but it eventually got him... It almost took his life. You can drive on the limit for only so long..
Not afraid to admit that I become very emotional when watching this wonderful tribute. Beautiful.
same, his words are actually super inspirational. and not just for young rally drivers, but his lessons on life seem pretty valuable in general. He has a wonderful mindset :)

Might as well follow his example, that's what I wanna do
Best 14 minutes of my life
Vatanen is my favorite driver of all time. And he is a gentleman. Brilliant human being. Thank you for the video Antti.
Someday i will be a rally driver! Even though I have no money and no one in my family cares or supports me to be a race car driver i know i will be one! My love for rally is indescribable and no one or nothing will get in the way of me becoming one!
Cheers
+Josue Garcia Go for it. Never let up. If you've got the dream, you've got the destination.
Arno du Toit thanks for the words mate! And i wont stop until i make it! I dont want to do anything but racing.
***** thank you so much! Really means a lot! Even if im 92 ill still be racing if i can haha! Cheers
+Josue Garcia same man! it's gonna take me money, effort, and everything I got but I believe I can do it and I believe you can also!
Hyper X Pranks Cheers man! Best of luck to you, and your career! hope to race against you one day! whats your name? just in case we actually do end up racing together
This made my day...and the days, that will follow.
What an amazing video about an amazing man. Very privileged to have seen him perform on many stage and rally. Him and Toivonen for me the greatest of them all. Thanks to all involved in putting this treasure together.
Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.
Possibly the best tribute video I've ever seen. The final part and the ending quote are just stunning. Thanks Ari for these moments. And thanks Antti for wraping them up so beautifully.
Thank you Antti! The world needs more people like Ari.
Respect. WRC genius and a gentlemen.
His driving and spoken words were the same, pure art
It's amazing to watch mr. Vatanen. He looks like your regular school teacher. Very calm, soft spoken man. Then you watch some of his driving footage and you're convinced that this guy is a complete lunatic. LOL. Hell of a driver.
the moment with Brother in Arms of dirait straits is just magique

"Driving is like music, it gets to you. But you need a good piano". Ari Vatanen
Peugeot. All good.
Pikes Peak's section is THE perfection. Great work as always
I could listen to Ari and Walter talk for days. Nicely done on the vid.
There is not many alive sportmen that i like to shake a hand with and pay my respect to. Mr Ari certainly on the podium.
My 3 saint sportsmen would be Ari with Ayrton Senna and Pavel Bure somehow. Thank you for the inspiration in my life. Forever in debt to you guys !
Thank you Antti. This video ...changed my life.
I had the absolute pleasure of meeting and shaking the hand of Ari Vatanen today ! what an absolute legend !
Grande Antti.
Te sigo hace muchos años. Tengo todos tus videos guardados porque son pequeñas obras de arte, sobre todo los de Toivonen.
Un abrazo.
The essence of life in 15 minutes! Thank you Antti, you and Ari made my eyes water... :'-)
All old and young hopefuls should watch this.
I cry'd a bit , I cannot subdue the passion I have for this sport I cannot give it up and I cannot stop and nothing else makes me truly feel alive it's the only thing that doesn't just feel like going through the motions to me. Don't you give up either Antti you deserve to make it there eventually.
Randy Marsh Being slightly over the limit is the only true freedom
1:16 "Dear God!" :-)
My personal favourite moment in the history of rallying :)
Ari Vatanen - " Group B was the pearl of my life"- What a legend...
I think that was Timo Salonen.

Great driver, great human being, great video. Thanks for this gorgeous piece Antti!
Thanks for posting the greatest video tribute of the flying Finn!!!
Driving that car is more hard than people can think...
Its Peuget 205 turbo 16v 350hp 400 nm and weight of 980kg when we add that it was 4wd and that car own weight is lightweight.
Your work with these videos is fantastic! Love them, you capture the spirit of racing very well :)
How have I not seen this until now. What an extraordinary driver and another fantastic video by yourself
Antii you really are a genius.
One of the few best of all times.
Not only the best rally driver, also a greate man. Thanks you Antti for this wonderful vid.
I love watching your videos such as this one. Many days that were initially not pleasant were changed after watching these.
Antti has made some brilliant videos over the years, but I think this one maybe the best
"You cannot measure one's life in seconds or by number of places on the podium, you measure somebodies life who's in the public eye by the impact he makes on people, how he touches people, people feel, and if people don't feel anything, they don't remember anything. Las mejores manos de la Historia de los Rallys . ARI VATANEN
Just glorious. Lessons about life. What a man. Who just happens to be an incredible racer. And Peugeot! Thank you!
"Yes you lose some victories, but you never have to lose in life..."
Ari Vataannen hill climb dance Specialist , i Love it!!

wow i never thought ill get this much deep thoughts from a rally video :D
Saw him at Autosport International today. What a gentlemen, so awe inspiring. Amazing video, to reflect a great man.
Got chills.
Spettacolo questi sono piloti!!!
Awesome these are drivers!!!!
There is something poetic about facing death with a calm demeanor race after race.
Ari, you truly are a driving god, thank you.

He has a beautiful way with words and a beautiful out look on life. Badass video about a bsdass man!!! Nice work man👌
A great guy. Very mindful
He was one of the best rallye drivers ever, sometimes too fast, but always a crazy driver,i have seen him on many rallyes.

And a great video..thanks
Incredible video, thank you for making it!
Ari Vatanen told me to watch this today!!! :D Then he signed the bonnet of my peugeot 205 gti :) BEST DAY EVER ;) Great video too, i see why he recommended it to me.Great bit about the Peugeot
Vatanen was probably the most talented rally driver of all time.
Nice edit Antti
Incredible, thanks for this again. Keep it up man you give the motor racing community something to aspire to.

this guy is my hero!
What a magnificent video!!!
love watching Ari :)
Ari + Escort = Magic
Ari + Escort + The best R'n'R song Ever = A Piece of Heaven
Look at 13:16-19 min in. He almost drop the rear wheel over the edge ... car control or luck? - Your call, I know what I think having watched Ari Vatanen through the 80's & 90's
The most impressive thing I saw in a rally is followed by "Oh my God" quote by Ari's co driver. That stuff is magic it was done by pure instinct.
No; that`s car control, instinct..and a small amount of luck! I was lucky enough to witness some of "Harry`s" escapades in the UK.; from Rothmans Escorts through Mantas, T16`s et al...That natural car control, bravery and self belief, I have only seen equalled by Henri Toivonen and Colin McRae...your call back ;-)
Brilliant tribute video.
nice video, great driver indeed, especially those great days of group B cars.
Ari is one of my favorite drivers.
Great video , Ari was always one of my rallying heroes , still is .
Wow. Just, wow. Beyond amazing.
I Always thought you where the best, and the best style of driving.
Thanks
Omg this made me cry
Gracias Antti por otra fantastica obra de arte!
That was beautiful and inspiring.
A masterpiece 👍🏻
That was put together really well, made me forget about the over censored WRC of today, that i just cant watch anymore (after the 1600 turbo rule, and all the other stuff that's stops people being creative).
but there is brand new Peugot t16 which in hands of Sebastien Loeb set the best time ever in Pikes Peak so yeah there is still hope.
MrGreenAKAguci00 you have to consider, when Ari drove the pikes peak, more than 50% of the road was loose sand and gravel and also no road barriers what so ever, so in a sense his time i untouchable! Loeb drove his time on good condition tarmac and barriers all over.

Thanks again! Antti!!!!! another amazing vid
Awesome video about an amazing man, and his outlook on life!
Another piece of art.
Thank you so much!
Ari,you will always be the best in my opinion...
Thank you Antti i cant tell you how much i like these vids
Fast as a plane on a dirt road... holy s*it
absolutely insane what was happening in group b. legendary
no matter the car... he simply make it
Thanks Antti!!
I remember first time I have seen the film, that´s one the end of this video, where he is c.h. in peugeot. Hardly anything, back then, can make me go wow. And this guy does, it was more like flying, I was so impressed, couldn´t believe my own eyes that something like that is possible, I was astonished.
God bless you for making those videos Antti.
Antti has never produce anything but masterpieces...!!!!
