Mine locked up this morning, had no time to wait for parts. I cut that shaft looking thing off, used hammer, chisel and plyers to remove the insides. Greased the rear bearings, and now I've got an idler pulley!! Them old motors don't need any of that BS anyway
Those fins in there move in and out to create pressure, the stainless steel inserts came loose on mine and locked it up. Take the pump apart with hammer and chisel and break all the moving parts and remove. I think all I have is the drum spinning in there. Wasn't easy but I was back on the road in 45 minutes. It's been a couple months no problems.

You gutted the smog pump? Can you elaborate on how to do that?
