That is the biggest problem with platformers on DS - you had to include metroidvanias and run'n'guns to make somewhat decent amount. Most of pure platformers on DS are boring, or uninteresting, or too childish (no challenge whatsoever) and some are unplayable on that tinsy-winsy screen (Sonic speed is not suitable for 256*192). Only Mario 64 and NSMB were good in the genre. Lego games were somewhat fun. I also played Tak and Tomb Raider - they were meh-diocre at best. Funny thing I bought my DSlite hoping for a variety of good platformers. Ended up playing them mostly on PSP: Daxter, LocoRoco, Ratatouille, Secret Agent Clank, Prinny, Little Big Planet, Gurumin, Tokobot, Ape Escape, G-Force and such. Well, at least DS was the place for metroidvanias that gen. That's for sure.
Yep, I feel the same way, DS does have a ton of platformer games, but most of them are just so-so, only a few are really interesting, and I also don't really like the use of touchscreens in games. For me, DS is superior in the RPG genre.
