Really appreciate your videos. I either have a nostalgia blast of long forgotten games or discover a new gem I've never played before. Thanks for pointing me in the direction of Shining Soul!
You should grab the sequel, all the rough and questionable edges(choices) in design on this one have been improved upon in every way, it's the refined quality version of the pairing so finish this then take the upgrade.
Feels like SEGA would make even more money if they just remastered Sonic Advance 1-3 and Sonic Battle in a collection but with Quality of Life features. Don’t know why they don’t rerelease these games on current systems.
@@gjergjaurelius9798 They should be able to edit the ROMs if they do their own collection. The legal issues are only when they are to use the ROMs as is (i.e. Virtual Console or NSO) since they have the THQ logo in front for the Western versions.

Shining soul always felt like time machine to me. I used to kill just a few enemies and time would skip 10 minutes. Now as an adult, I can't play it as I don't have much time... Damn you, theory of relativity.
Yo, GT Transformation is incredible! I went back and replayed it the other day for the first time in years, still holds up as great brawler, the extra characters are fun too
Robotech: the Macross Saga got a re-release on switch a couple of years ago. I own the original GBA cart and I gotta say... it's not very good. the only mode your veritech fighter needs to use is guardian. Fighter mode takes damage when you hit the stage ceiling or floor and pretty much kills you instantly, which makes it worthless in most stages, a problem which Guardian doesn't have. The battloid mode has its niche moments but it's severely hampered by poor mobility so most of the game is just you in Guardian mode. There are some isometric stages where you take control of one of the non-transforming mecha to destroy landmarks but they become tedious quickly. Luckily, there aren't many of them. On the plus side, the music is taken straight from the TV show, which is one of the best things about it.
I remember Dark Arena being advertised as the first FPS game on the GBA & while it had bad animations & no music I still enjoyed playing it for what it was back then. It was a solid FPS experience on the GBA & not bad for a first attempt.
Pretty much missed all of these. I'll have to get into one of them sometime, currently working on a few others. Never finished Golden Sun back in the day, that's one of the games I'm trying to find time for. I'm like ten hours in.
Im playing boktai 1&2 on a emu handheld theres an option in retroarch to max out solar light but when i play the game i cant recharge the energy how can you make it work on emulator
Most Boktai ROMS comes with a patch built in to allow sunlight. Try holding the L or R buttons down, and pressing left or right to adjust the sunlight.
_Wade Hixton's Counter-Punch._ Please, consider tossing that in one of these. It's a fantastically quirky _Punch-Out!!_ clone that plays well, is tons of fun, and _oozes_ charm! I swear, they had plans for it. Maybe it'll get an HD remake, someday. _Also, not to be rude, but is your voice AI generated? It kind of sounds like it…_
I was just going to say that but had to check the comments as surely someone noticed that :) The remaster apparently isn't great but honestly if it goes on sale for like 5 bucks, it should be worth to have fun for a few hours.
The only thing that reminds me of Shining Soul on NDS is Soma Bringer. Both really remind me of Diablo. I play these kinds of games more than I can count. Really recommend Shining Soul 1 and 2 if you like action rpg that is.
hey man, do you ever plan on doing older pc games no one talks about like "Shogo Mobile Armored Division" i spent a few good years playing this with a friend that passed, wish more people talked about it. its mulri player was out of this world for the time, you had mech suits matches, you had smaller soldier fights, you had this unique cross map grapple hook, it made the game play very different then foot soldiers
@@thatvideogamesshow please do "One Must Fall," such a good arcade fighter, for DOS comouter systems I believe. I used to have the shareware version and played it so much. Its a bit aged nowadays (looks like snes graphics) but the quirky story and fun mechanics never get old.

This list shows us that game developers over-rellied in super simplistic and ugly prerendered backgrounds and/or characters when making games for the Gameboy advance, instead of using detailed and animated sprites for the backgrounds and in some cases the characters. If they had the intention on just using prerendered backgrounds, they could have at least made them very detailed like those in the Playstation one final fantasy's or resident evil's, or just use detailed sprites like the genesis and super Nintendo games used. So many gba games look ugly because of it, unlike the genesis and super Nintendo.
Topsy-Turvy was called Universal Gravitation in Europe to avoid brand confusion with Topsy & Tim. Okay, that might not be true. But do you have a better theory?
Is fine that they're stuck. This make the library unique. Every generation should have their games stuck on it. glad the DS and 3DS has dual screen so is more complicated to port their games.
Literally any other console besides GBA or 32bit or lower would be better. 90% of the good NES, SNES and Mega Drive games have been ported, the other consoles between the N64 are mid and everything after is interesting. GBA is so easy to emulate and play on your phone its better and easier to find and test your own games this adds nothing for collectors or people interested in the topic since piracy is so easy for these games, same as the retro games before the N64. Personally every time I see someone mention the GBA i audibly groan, it has a lot of good games but it feels like other consoles dont get the same nostalgia. Also the GBA had a fuck ton of games ratio wise it works out, but so many games suck or are just mid for it.

You can setup the DS4 controller to emulate the tilt function by using the Visual Boy Advance emulator.
