I do the same with lemon peel except i don't do the whole salt/soda treatment lmao, I usually just soak them in water first for about 30 min. So the salt/soda thing is good if your concerned about how the oranges were grown. Remember yall just cause produce is labeled "organic" doesn't mean its better, sometimes its been grown with MORE pesticides than regular produce!

Just made them last night with Cara Cara oranges...the red interiors kept their color with the orange rind. Put them in the convection oven at 150 degrees for 6 hours. Beautiful and they taste great, thanks!
I watched this and saved it for when I went to the orchard to pick oranges. We have a massive orange juicer which cuts and crushes the to get the juice out of them. Today I decided to use the juiciest bits left and see if this recipe will work with it. I replaced the corn syrup with agave syrup as I can’t seem to find corn syrup here in Portugal. I think it will come out wonderfully. Thanks for the super recipe.

My own lazy way : Eat the orange normally, cut the skin to bite size, boil it low heat with sugar water for 30 min to 1 hour. Basically candied fruit peels. The leftover water (if any) will have bittersweet taste and smells good, I usually just drink it or just put it in my room as a kind of aromatics.

The skin of fruit is very very bitter naturally so since this is essentially candied fruit peel, I'd say if you want it to be sweet dont skip it. If you dont mind the bitterness, skip it

Yes you can store it even more than a month..if you want a healthy version just buy a dehydrator machine slice the orange and put it in dehydrator and wait until it is totally dried..i made dried fruit before and it was good.. taste like healthy candy...
