    hello~ it's doomandoo•_•
I made a sweet and fresh lemon jar.
It's good with cold soda water as lemonade or with hot water as lemon tea.
It's great as a gift as well!
    {{Ingredients}}
    10 lemons
    baking soda
    coarse salt
sugar (1:1 weight ration to sliced lemon)
    containers (jar)
    {{Recipes}}
    1. put a jar upside down to a pot when water starts boiling.
    2. when the jar is full of steam, take it out and dry it completely.
    3. rub the lemons firmly wit coarse salt.
    4. wash the salt away with water.
    5. rinse again with baking soda.
    6. pour water on lemons with baking soda still on them.
    7. leave the lemons in water for 10 ~ 15 minutes.
    8. wast the baking soda away by rolling the lemons on hot water.
    9. Slice the lemons as thin as possible.
    11. remove the lemon seeds and throw the bits with lemon pith.
    12. weight the sliced lemon.
    13. prepare the sugar with same weight.
    14. put sliced lemon in a bowl and add sugar in 3 steps. (But leave some)
    15. Mix sugar and lemon after each step and leave the mixture on room temperature for 30 minutes.
    16. put the sugared lemon to completely dried containers.
    17. Use the remaining sugar to create sugar ceiling and seal the container with wrap before closing the lid.
    18. mature it on room temperature for a day and extra two days inside a fridge.
put gloves on when rinsing as coarse salt may hurt your hands.
bitter taste may come out when too less sugar is used.
lemon pith and seeds make bitter taste so make sure you removed them.
I made it more thick so that I can add it to yogurt.
you can always add less sugar.
Dicing apple too much may remove texture from the jam.
Add little bit of cinnamon powder at a time until it matches your taste.
remove any water on tools and containers as it cause mold.
    enjoy!!

All lemons are imported from Korea. Therefore, a lot of chemical additives are exposed, a cumbersome process is necessary.😭

    Frequently Asked Q&A
First, let it ripen at room temperature for 24 hours
and put it in refrigerator for 48 hours
(How long can you keep it?)
If water or saliva doesn't go in,
you can keep it in the refrigerator for 3 months
(If you don't like sugar)
Lemon jar is eaten many times.
So there is not much sugar in a glass of lemonade
If you need to add other ingredients instead of sugar,
you can use honey or stevia.
But honey has a strong taste, so the lemon scent can drop.
and Stevia is less sticky because of its thin viscosity
*Can be used with brown sugar
    **When it tastes bitter**
    1. If there are seeds left, it tastes bitter.
The process of removing seeds completely is crucial.
    2. Lemon with a lot of white skin tastes bitter.
If there are more white parts than other lemons, it is also a good idea to remove the skin and make it.
    3. The baking soda used to clean the lemon tastes bitter if it remains in the shell.
If you wash it with baking soda, use a brush to wash the lemon last.
You can make lemon syrup that doesn't taste bitter.

I will peel them and eat the wedges like an orange or just cut it in half and squeeze and eat all the juice with some salt and oh man is it good. An all time fave. Actually, I dont have any in the fridge so in going to go to the store right now because Im drooling lmao

      1. Rinse lemons well.
      2. Scrub them with mixture of salt and baking soda and let them sit for 10mins.
Meanwhile, sterilize your containers using the method she showed.
      3. Then, take water and rinse them really well using clean towels.
      4. Cut them thinly. Discard all seeds.
5.Mix lemons and powdered sugar in 1:1 ratio and cover with plastic until sugar dissolves.
      6. Transfer them to sterilized containers.

This is one of my favourite videos, I love citrus fruit and never really knew how to store them. I have recently ordered some lemons from an organic (bio) farm, when they arrive I will have a crate full of lemons. Do I still need to clean the lemons with salt and baking powder if they are organic and not covered with wax? Or is it a good idea to clean them of any contaminants anyway? Those jars of sliced lemon that you made look amazing, anyone would be delighted to receive one as a gift! : )

    • @rainbowsnake1108
      @rainbowsnake1108 4 роки тому +7

Yes other wise bacteria and fungi will develop. The high concentration in sugar makes an hostile environment for the microorganisms that's why honey doesn't go bad nor jam. The minimal amount of sugar needed to obtain a microbeless jar is about 50% of fruit and 50% sugar. The best is to put more than not enough. I hope I made it clearer.
