My mom makes them very different and they're hella good, but Iike how her mom adds garlic, onion, and chili to here masa, I think it would make the tamales flavorful and colorful. 😋😋😍
catreese82 ha ha my mom and dad would say that to me when I made something delicious now my husband and kids say that and he is white it sound so strange in English
I wish I had my mom so we can make tamales together 😢but she is my 😇 in heaven I miss her so much it's always a sad time for me around Christmas time 🎅🎄😢🙏
Esmeralda Sanchez Same here. We always made tamales growing up during the holidays. And she always had me make pumpkin pies. So I continue to do that. It makes me feel closer to her. I hope you can replicate whatever recipes she taught you.
No podía faltar el “ya te puedes casar” recommendation My momma doesn’t add Chile to the masa. And she runs the Chile through a strainer to get rid of seeds, make a smoother mole
If I see someone say hey this is the one way you make “Mexican” tamales one more time imma lose it. There’s many ways to make “Mexican” tamales and it depends on the region of where you live and what style of tamale you want
I lived in Oxnard California and was taught to strain the chili and never put tomatoes in the chili. Best days of my life being taught to cook old school by Abulea Ornelas
The mitu moms should have a tamale battle 😂 like every mom make their version of tamales with the way they serve them and the type of Chile they serve it with and then have the office choose which was the best.
When you folded the corn leaf from the bottom first that will make your tamal break when you open it. It Should be the sides first then the bottom so they don't spill. Well that's my opinion. Because your way will have the leaf in between the meat.
What about manteca?! (Lard) You can't make tamales with out it, if you don't want to use it you can always use any vegetable oil. Otherwise the tamales will be very hard
Ohh that's so interesting. I've always seen my mom wrap the pointy end of the tamale out and only use only leaf. (I mean I always help her make them so never knew there's different ways of making them)
HELLO. First generation here. Here to represent for Oaxaca! Every part of Mexico does it differently. Theres not a single right way to do so. We fold the corn husks differently and cook the meat differently. And set up the masa and salsa different too.
All my life I thought tamales were like Chilean humitas but now I realise they look the same on the outside...but they're hella different on the inside😂 #quierohumitas ❤
Buena suerte!
I don’t really like tamales anymore because on Christmas we made like a hundred of each flavor because you now a true Mexican always eats tamales every Christmas
People now a days..... can’t even talk to your mother in her native tongue! All she did to get you, to where you are only for you to forget your roots! It’s a damn shame, that you can’t even learn or speak Spanish to your mother correctly!!! What?? You’re too good or white so you have to speak in Spanglish !!???!?
Dennis Marroquin why are you trying to shame her for the way she speaks to her mother? You are clueless of the circumstances she grew up with and if anything like mine, words are lost in translation or in school. Clearly she understands it and try's to speak it so instead of giving her shit give her props for trying
Drina Ramirez trying is one thing, being ignorant is another. If she was trying she would ask how do say this or that, or maybe she would’ve tried in those 18 years of living at home!
Oh boy. Someone always has to play the race card. Who cares? The purpose of a language is for communication so if they are able to speak to each other, why care?
Dennis Marroquin i 💯 agree with you. It’s a fucking shame that now in days people barely speak their native language and just communicate with English while their parents aren’t talking in English
I mean props to you, great video! I’ll be trying to make these for Christmas, but there’s a point to what I said. Too many people now a days are too embarrassed to speak Spanish or be Hispanic
My mom makes them very different and they're hella good, but Iike how her mom adds garlic, onion, and chili to here masa, I think it would make the tamales flavorful and colorful. 😋😋😍
Depending on what part of Mexico you from, my moms from the north and my dads from the south
Ya te puedes casar 😂😂 never will get old with our mothers saying this to us after a triumphant culinary execution 😂😂
catreese82 ha ha my mom and dad would say that to me when I made something delicious now my husband and kids say that and he is white it sound so strange in English
I wish I had my mom so we can make tamales together 😢but she is my 😇 in heaven I miss her so much it's always a sad time for me around Christmas time 🎅🎄😢🙏
Esmeralda Sanchez haha that's sad
Awe my heart goes out to you and your family, god bless and you and have a safe day (:
Esmeralda Sanchez Same here. We always made tamales growing up during the holidays. And she always had me make pumpkin pies. So I continue to do that. It makes me feel closer to her. I hope you can replicate whatever recipes she taught you.
when the mom said "ya te puedes casar" i related on so many levels. my mom says that any time i cook lol
The last part, “Me congelas uno” was mexican af
“Ya te puedes casar” 💀
"No thank you" 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It is nice to see the different ways other regions of Mexico make tamales. My mom makes them different and it does take time to make all of them.
My momma doesn’t add Chile to the masa. And she runs the Chile through a strainer to get rid of seeds, make a smoother mole
TO MY NON MEXICANS: TAMALES HAVE DIFFERENT WAYS OF BEING MADE THIS IS JUST ONE OF THEM
If I see someone say hey this is the one way you make “Mexican” tamales one more time imma lose it. There’s many ways to make “Mexican” tamales and it depends on the region of where you live and what style of tamale you want
thedeppresedlife Del Carmen hey this is one way you make Mexican tamales 😂😂
My mom makes tamales way diff from this video. She's from zacatecas. In a way they're all similar (mexican) but also unique.
hey this is the one way you make “Mexican” tamales it's different than the way i make them.
thedeppresedlife Del Carmen lol that's so true
Thank you
Thank you for leaving your mothers phone conversation in the vid. I love it! Reminds me of my abuelita.
This is by far the best video(its fun and I love how she calls her mom for help!) on how to make tamales I've seen so far!
Always interesting to see how others make their tamales.
I lived in Oxnard California and was taught to strain the chili and never put tomatoes in the chili. Best days of my life being taught to cook old school by Abulea Ornelas
Omg thank you for this video! Awe your mom is the best 🇲🇽
I miss my moms Tamales ( in heaven now), but this video is helpful and easy to understand. Thanks for sharing this with us.
The mitu moms should have a tamale battle 😂 like every mom make their version of tamales with the way they serve them and the type of Chile they serve it with and then have the office choose which was the best.
You forgot to strain the chile!!!!!
I literally called my mom and had the same conversation yesterday! This is almost exactly how she makes it.
Tamales are kind of like Puerto Rican pasteles 🇵🇷
Tamales has never been one of my favorite food but after her mother explain the recipe I'm going to try more often
I love this. I just volunteered to bring tamales to a party this weekend too :D
Love Mexican Tamales 😍🇲🇽
Depends what region cause in Veracruz they make tamales de hojas de plantano so in Mexico there difference types of tamales.
Aaron Hernandez yup, in Puebla they make them mostly out of corn leaves since that’s abundant where my family is from
My mom is from San Marcos Guatemala and makes her tamales con hojas de platano as well
Thanks for posting! My mom was looking for a good tamales recipe.
I'm just wondering what part of Mexico us she from? Obviously different parts of Mexico tamales are done differently
🙌💓😳🙊👰
Buen respuesta😘
"No thank u!"...
Smart woman!

no kidding! always manteca, but i think she used premade masa.
Gabriel Sanchez not always. My mom uses melted butter. They come out fluffy and delicious.
You guys should so this for every countries’ tamales
Merida Viñas yes I agree 🙌🏼
I agree as well !
Tamales are life. Lol
Nice video idea!
finally i can my own tamales when i move out
Lmfaoo "yo de tonta me ire voluntaria" that's what every Mexican women says 🤣🤣🤣
Ohh that's so interesting. I've always seen my mom wrap the pointy end of the tamale out and only use only leaf.
(I mean I always help her make them so never knew there's different ways of making them)
HELLO. First generation here. Here to represent for Oaxaca! Every part of Mexico does it differently. Theres not a single right way to do so. We fold the corn husks differently and cook the meat differently. And set up the masa and salsa different too.
The best tamales. Nothing else compares although they try.
then you haven't lived sir!
And the lard? How much do we add to the masa?
My mom would’ve gotten so mad if she spoke in Spanish and I responded in English “te estoy hablando en español!” 😂
DARN IT NOW IM CRAVING 🤤🤤😫
This makes me think of me and my mom. She's Mexican and speaks to me in Spanish while I speak to her in English.
Where can I buy Masa flour in Australia?
So delicious!!! Saludos desde Alemania =)
I wish my mom was able to tell me how to make things in exact measurements like that 😭 gracias, UA-cam!!
To keep the masa soft add cooked rice to the masa.
I see we make tamales differently, for me this Is wrong but everyone does things differently
All my life I thought tamales were like Chilean humitas but now I realise they look the same on the outside...but they're hella different on the inside😂 #quierohumitas ❤

if this girl can make tortillas too I am marrying her.
😍😍

My mom uses 2 pork head for our family
Gracias
Laura Marvo puedes comprar masa preparada

There is alot of ways to make tamales ay de dulce ay de rajas con queso ay de chile rojo chile verde ay huechepos alot alot
My mom left me so I have to buy mine from my aunt
If this is the white hermosa girl from perolike, then that's her grandma not her mom cause her mom barely speaks a few words in Spanish.
You put the masa and meat with a spoon but in mexico it's all with hands
me ofreci.....ingredientes... sal... pimienta..
I thought every single tamale had the same preparation, but different ingredients. My bad :v at least Hondura's tamales are made in a different way
Them tamales look dry they need to add some lard and they need to strain the chile so that you don't get seeds in the meat and Masa
disappointed in the premade masa...

But guatemalan tamales is where its at just sayin
amen mama! they do take longer time because of that masa from scratch! so good though!
the way they make tamales in southern Mex is like in Guatemala and they are my personal favorite !
The Fish they are good but nothing will ever replace my love for Mexican tamales
