I am 42 years old. When I was 18, I was arrested and served 22 months in prison. It was hell. It's always noisy. fights all the time. ignorant people. You are treated like an animal by the guards. You feel alone 24/7. It's been over 20 years but I will never forget it. I couldn't imagine going from a father and millionaire to life in prison... and all over my sister's ex-husband.

Ok so, when many of the news outlets say that they think Charlie “did well” on his cross examination, IMO they really mean that he did a good job at staying calm, not getting defensive or rattled by Georgia, and he was obviously very familiar with the literal evidence of the case.
BUT, regardless of that, he did NOT come across as credible, he was not honest, I did not find him likable, and his story combined with his so called circumstantial evidence, was so ridiculous that it was insulting.
It appears the jury felt the same way.
Charlie and his cohorts can’t distinguish between the two. He lacks the ability to self reflect and realize how he appears to the majority of people. Did he stay calm? Yes, did the prosecution seem like she was frustrated at times? Yes. But that doesn’t change the facts of the case, or that your story was outrageously false.
Edit: I wrote my comment halfway through the video but I kept watching the video and near the end TLYK said it nice and simply, “you can do a good job on the stand and still lose if they don’t believe you.”

I've gotta laugh at how people think people from rural areas are slow. They talk slow, they take things slow, but if anything, that leads to them processing their thoughts better, not worse, and fakery and legal brilliance won't sway them. I say this as a NY metro guy who went to college down south and learned much to my surprise how these people are a whole lot smarter than people think due to stereotypes.

This is one of the best commentaries and discussion about the jail calls!! Finally got a chance to watch. What's readily apparent is the complete detachment from reality this bizarre family possesses. I have no idea why I am surprised, but now it makes sense, as you watch the trial, you could see Charlie so calm and 'smirky' and I recall thinking wow, I believe he thinks this is going in his favor! This phone conversation totally affirms this for me. They are snarky and selfish which are not crimes, but explains a lot. I find them whiney and entitled. They are so wrong if they believe it was anything short of a fair and just verdict based on the facts presented!

But having a lack of empathy for his children is not okay - most people when we are watching things like this forget that most people start attacking the entire family and his boys have NOTHING to do with it - and maybe with the right community surrounding them and supporting them - they will have a better chance than if he was out in the world. I CERTAINLY am of this opinion and they are better off without their grandmother, grandfather and their aunt should NOT be allowed to be around them. If he was remorseful - this would be a different take and maybe he will have some hard lessons where he will learn he is not top of the food chain and will need to quit being a wanna-be thug. I doubt it because prison is not about change and making things better. I wish after these sentences all the energy of hating on these people could go to the support of Dan's family and children and make it a non-issue that he is sentenced and done.

I'm in Connecticut, but I hadn't heard of the Markel murder until after Donna was arrested. Since then, however, publicity surrounding the Markel murder/Adelson cases has been off the charts. So much so it may be difficult to find unbiased juries for Donna's and eventually Wendi's trials.
Charlie's biggest problem was his inability to accept how much evidence there was against him. A related problem is that he thought having an answer for everything helped him when he needed a believable answer for everything.
As for Donna's & Harvey's concerns, I don't see how anyone can be deemed to be "totally innocent" based solely on a defendant's testimony.

I’m utterly obsessed with these people. The evidence was overwhelming for the state and his “truth,” was so bizarre. It was like a puzzle and his puzzle didn’t fit at all and whats more bizarre is Charlie can’t even admit that his story regardless of being his “truth,” sounds absolutely far fetched and doesn’t align at all, if he would have at least agreed that it sounded crazy, but “true,” he still would have been founded guilty, but MAYBE he would have got a little more credibility. But, I disagree with Peter on the online trend, all I see is he’s guilty.

I think CA's attorney did an excellent job of making Charlie & his family believe that Charlie was not only going to go home that day, but that he was actually innocent of his charged crimes😅😂! It doesn't matter if he does 'well on the stand' if he is in fact GUILTY beyond a reasonable doubt. We didn't get to hear or see everything that was put up for the jury to consider....

  • @ozzybloke-craig3690

The problem with Lawyers is that they look through the eyes of a Lawyer, they cannot look through the lens of a Juror, because they are so twisted and complicated in their thinking due to being in it, dealing with cases, juries, etc. a Juror looks through the eyes of the everyday average person. That is why only Lawyers are saying Charlie did a good job on the stand. He did in the way that he was calm, and all that. But you do not do well on the stand when you constantly lie and the Jury sees through it. When it is an obvious lie, the Jury will see that. A Lawyer thinks they wont. Lawyers view of the outcome is always skewed and affected by biases due to their position. That is why the public knows best when it comes to outcomes, and why you saying Charlie did a good job on the stand Peter, is expected but very wrong as we saw by the result.

I still can't believe Janine Driver, FBI profiler doubled down that Wendi was telling the truth, at the police interview because she showed open palms. What about covering her face, crossing her arms, downward palms, hyperventilating, nodding yes/no when it's the opposite etc etc?? I know that fake crying, I did it when my scumbag father died. I covered my face because I was actually laughing and happy that he was finally dead.
In the police interview, Wendi mentioned that the security company had an alert of security breach at Dan's house on the 17th Jul, THE DAY BEFORE! Wendi also drove to the crime scene and still no panic, or concern that something could have happened to Dan or the boys? What a load of bull crap! I think that security breach was a "trial run" for the hitmen in case they had to go in the house to kill Dan.
The reason these 4 Addlesnarks thinks they are innocent is this:
For those who eat meat, do we ever think about the slaughter of the chicken/cow/pig etc?? NO...right? It's the same way the 4 Addlesnarks think they are innocent, they paid for someone else to slaughter Dan, get blood on the butchers hands, and in their narcissistic minds, it means it's something they are not involved with....it's something distant, something not to think about. Because none of us think of the butcher, we only enjoy the meat.

I’m stunned that anyone thought Charlie’s testimony went great. He was smart mouthed, nonsensical, smirking, glib, illogical, arrogant, cold, and extremely unlikeable. His testimony made his defense all the worse. The fact that Charlie attempts to attack Ms. Georgia Cappleman’s brilliant, cogent, logical closing shows how delusional this man is. As Georgia reminded him in her cross, “I’ll do that in closing.” And she sure did. She knew exactly what she was doing. She’s had years and two trials to present this case.

I disagree with Peter that Charlie did a good job on the stand. When a person is telling the truth, sometimes they have to take a moment to think about things. Sometimes they say they’re not sure. Sometimes they agree with a cross examination question, even if it makes them look bad. His story was so ridiculous and so rehearsed, and so guided by his attorney. It was complete BS from start to finish.

His conversation with Katie at the restaurant was impossible to explain away. He was arrested straight after the audio of that meeting was enhanced, and for good reason.
He is angry the jury couldn't find reasonable doubt. He thought his story was plausible and he sold it well. Too bad Charlie, everyone saw through you.
