Thanks Peter. No one wins in this nightmare, especially the sons. They will always wonder what their lives would have been like if dad was still here. That emptiness never goes away. Shame on this whole family to care more about personal agendas instead of the innocence of children.
Wendi is a lawyer, so its not surprising that she has been able to protect herself. I believe she was aware of what was going to happen, and was a part of the conspiracy, but she knows enough to isolate herself from most of it. Driving to Markels house, seeing the police presence but not inquiring why -- or even checking on her kids -- is a HUGE red flag. The fact she asked if she was "a suspect" in the police interrogation before they told her about Markle -- another red flag. Sure hope IF she was part of it, they can find enough evidence to prove it.

Regarding the argument of committing the murder prior to getting paid. Both parties basically argued the shooters went to murder a man without first being paid a dime. The difference was you either have to believe the shooters would commit a murder after being hired to kill and get paid later, or the shooters took a chance and committed a murder in the hopes that they would get paid later while trying to extort Mr. Adelson. Which sounds more reasonable?

And to add insult to injury according to KM, CA was the one that placed the package of cash in the back of SUV. Soooo.... I'm glad Georgia made that point. I think her team heard your podcast that day. That was an excellent point which would resonate with the jury.
I agree with you on the prosecutor today. I thought she had a strong closing argument, but it wasn’t flamboyant or aggressive. I thought the defense did a good job overall as well. The case against Wendi is stronger than you think. She didn't just have knowledge, she actively participated. There are a few things that necessitate her involvement, especially if we take it as a legal fact (based on the four convictions) that: Charlie Adelson hired Katie Magbanua to recruit someone to kill his brother-in-law; she solicited Luis Rivera and gunman Sigfredo Garcia, who did kill Dan Markel. Wendi was necessary to know Prof. Markel was leaving town on Saturday, and that he was at the gym that morning. She was also needed to know what sort of car Jeffrey LaCasse drove and when he was leaving town for both the attempt _and_ the successful murder. Perhaps even more importantly (and with less possibility of ambiguity as to motive), Wendi had to break her television _before_ the first attempt, and leave it unfixed for a month until it was used as her alibi for the time of the murder. She is also the only person that could have caused Katie to respond to Sigfredo that she knew the murder had been done. It wasn't in the news or around the community, but Wendi had pulled up to the police tape and subsequently talked to Charlie, who then called Katie. I think Georgia has been holding off on digging into a few questions that point to Wendi; questions like asking Rivera how they knew to stalk Prof Markel at the gym, or asking Katie how she knew the murder was successful.
@9babyblu maybe because what she said on the stand couldn't be used against her? I think that's what was said at the beginning of her testimony. Georgia may be waiting for more evidence that wouldn't have anything to do with what she said on the stand. I don't know though, that was just my theory.
Also don't leave out Jeffrey Lacasse was literally setup to take the fall for the murder except for the fact at the last minute left early on a planned trip to Talahassee. It doesn't matter what the Defense throws his way; because Jeffrey has truth on his side his reactions r 💯 believable which is in contrast to Wendi. Why did Wendi tell Jeffrey Lacasse about Charlie's attempt too hire a hit man to murder Dam Markel in 2013? Before telling Jeffrey about the attempt in 2013 Charlie hired a hit man, Wendi first told Jeffrey that she had lied during her first deposition from Dan Markel. When Jeffrey reported said statement to the police during his interview the olive look into Wendi's statement & it turned out to be untrue. I believe this was done as part of the setup; hoping Jeffrey would be a top suspect (as Wendi believed that Jeffrey would be passing by Dan's area at the time of his murder) & then Jeffrey reports both serious statements made by Wendi & the police find the 1st statement to be untrue & the 2nd story Wendi told Jeffrey would be his word against Wendi! Again Wendi is purposely made to look like a victim. Plan mostly would have worked if Jeffrey wasn't already in Tenessee at the ti.e of the murder, thank God. Lastly, who would even mention their brother and parents could be a person that would hire a hitman. This sh I w how hiring a hit-and-run to get your way is & has been on your mind for a while to be able to think that way. Thanks Peter for your commentary. Happy Sunday! 😊
Did Charlie Adelson hire Katie Magbanuah to recruit Sigfredo Garcia and Luis Rivera to 'kill' Dan Markel or to 'rough him up'? Or did Katie Magbanuah make the decision to up it to 'murder' because she knew it would make her more money? Reasonable doubt. Luis Rivera and Sigfredo Garcia followed Dan Markel to the Daycare Center and then to the gym. No one had to tell them about the gym. Jeffrey LaCasse surmised that he was possibly going to be a suspect, after he heard the testimony and evidence. This case was precipitated by Wendy Adelson, who had a personal motive. And was based on the words of the known liar and manipulator, Katie Magbanuah, who had financial motive. Charles Adelson was definitely a co-conspirator. But he was also played by his sister and his ex-girlfriend. Just like he had always been played by his mother.
People vote too expediently based upon emotion and not logic. I would never convict someone based on circumstantial evidence only. I read a lot of posts on these podcasts and it’s frightening how many people purport a verdict without the trial even having commenced.
Amen, I would rather 100 guilty men or women walk free than see 1 innocent man or woman be wrongly incarcerated. Not the other way around. Beyond all reasonable doubt. When jurors talk about how the defendent smirked and didn't think they showed "remorse" sitting expressionless during the trial, this is the problem with women jurors. And soy boy jurors
@@jenniferb2864 I believe that people vote based on emotion versus logic and evidence. If that wasn’t the case, cases that are purely circumstantial wouldn’t result in a conviction.
To answer what so many people asked about juror names: yes, in Florida, since juror names are public record (unless ordered by the court), they are frequently referred to by name by the Judge.
Some judges call jurors by their juror numbers but the court documents will have the juror names regardless if they are mentioned in trial. Some judges require defendants to remain sitting due to security reason. Note how Charlie was sitting in hard chair without wheels which is SOP for defendants in criminal cases.
Blackmail implicates guilt. Why would you blackmail an innocent person? An innocent person with no dirt on them would never submit to blackmail. He thought he was being so clever by making it pointedly clear he was never blackmailed. The story he stuck with though was even stupider; a complete stranger who is actually linked in evidence to Catherine his girlfriend decides to demand money, in INSTALLMENTS no less, or he will pin a murder on him. Lol.
Hit men that hired themselves.... that one hits home. Along with his ongoing relationship with a GF that is "extorting" him. And Wendys drive past the home graphic on the day. That's a difficult one. Interested to see what comes next.

The wildest part is KMags passed up full immunity and decided to plea innocent. I’m lost as to why she would do this other than to try and protect her X?
You were remarkably balanced for the duration. Too many deified Dan, but I do understand the opposite - demonizing the Adelsons. Their collective complicity is obvious, even tho it seems the case against Donna looks best. Rest in peace, Dan. Extra angels of comfort to his loved ones.

I really hope they get Wendi. I think it will be based off the text messages, which imply she was definitely a part of it. "So sweet" etc.
Good breakdown Peter⛳️
Why do you think Georgia was holding off on asking those Q or digging further? 🤔
@9babyblu maybe because what she said on the stand couldn't be used against her? I think that's what was said at the beginning of her testimony. Georgia may be waiting for more evidence that wouldn't have anything to do with what she said on the stand. I don't know though, that was just my theory.
@@M-Marie89 I was just asking out of curiosity. It baffles me that this swine princess reaps the rewards with zero consequence.
I love the phrase "extortion lay-away plan". Anyone else kinda giggle when you hear it?
Yes. It was funny
Love this!!
Agree that's a powerful illustration
Wow I didn’t realize that Peter was a student of Professor Markel! Wow😮
I missed him saying this. I heard him comment on a super chat but it seems like he mentioned it before?
@silverDraco yes someone asks Peter “what was Professor Markel was really like” at 10:01 & Peter answers the question :)
@@shanrshan1 thank you. I rewatched later last night and saw that.
People vote too expediently based upon emotion and not logic. I would never convict someone based on circumstantial evidence only. I read a lot of posts on these podcasts and it’s frightening how many people purport a verdict without the trial even having commenced.
Do you think that the jurors don’t weigh up all the evidence as it’s presented through out the course of the trial?
Amen, I would rather 100 guilty men or women walk free than see 1 innocent man or woman be wrongly incarcerated. Not the other way around. Beyond all reasonable doubt. When jurors talk about how the defendent smirked and didn't think they showed "remorse" sitting expressionless during the trial, this is the problem with women jurors. And soy boy jurors
@@jenniferb2864 I believe that people vote based on emotion versus logic and evidence. If that wasn’t the case, cases that are purely circumstantial wouldn’t result in a conviction.
So true.
To answer what so many people asked about juror names: yes, in Florida, since juror names are public record (unless ordered by the court), they are frequently referred to by name by the Judge.
Peter….. WOW….. can’t believe that you had Professor Markel as your law professor. That is sad and I am so sorry!!
💔
Florida got it 💯 correct
Some judges call jurors by their juror numbers but the court documents will have the juror names regardless if they are mentioned in trial. Some judges require defendants to remain sitting due to security reason. Note how Charlie was sitting in hard chair without wheels which is SOP for defendants in criminal cases.
Why won’t CA say “blackmail”- he adamantly says it was “extortion”. How does the difference help defense? What is the difference?
Blackmail implicates guilt. Why would you blackmail an innocent person? An innocent person with no dirt on them would never submit to blackmail. He thought he was being so clever by making it pointedly clear he was never blackmailed. The story he stuck with though was even stupider; a complete stranger who is actually linked in evidence to Catherine his girlfriend decides to demand money, in INSTALLMENTS no less, or he will pin a murder on him. Lol.
Well, didnt get by because he was a "doctor". Justice 🎉🎉
Hit men that hired themselves.... that one hits home. Along with his ongoing relationship with a GF that is "extorting" him. And Wendys drive past the home graphic on the day. That's a difficult one. Interested to see what comes next.
Thank you Peter for always breaking down these trials and hitting all the important points. Also thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to do all this. I hope that you and your family have a blessed day.
Thank you for your support!
I’m glad for Dan Markle and his family
Guys life was on the line and he sat in jail for a year plus, but he comes out smirky and sarcastic... doesn't give a good look
Ohh so sad I missed this! I checked so many times to see if you were live, or if one was scheduled. Thanks for covering the case!! It was a wild one! I think the jury could easily see through the wild story contrived by the defense. Still, very sad to see someone who had everything throw their life away and someone be the victim of such brutality for nothing.
Just now watching, can't wait for what peter has to say. 😊
He'll flip on Wendy for a no prosecution deal against Donna when she's indicted. Payback for throwing him under the bus to the cops.
The way he looked when Georgia read her statement he looked shocked so he didn’t no everything she told to her ex and cops he was not happy
Thank you Peter for zeroing in on good and not so good points , from both State and Defence, it makes perfect sense when you explain ..
I was not familiar with this case at all .. I didn’t realize Dan requested supervised visits with his boys and grandmother Donna … that’s pretty scary ! I guess Dan knew Donna was not all there … very sad …
Yes!! The thought of supervised visits made her Furious..the hearing was set to be held 2 weeks after the murder happened
The wildest part is KMags passed up full immunity and decided to plea innocent. I’m lost as to why she would do this other than to try and protect her X?
I love how you always say, “ What’s up?”
I agree with you about the judge❤
You were remarkably balanced for the duration. Too many deified Dan, but I do understand the opposite - demonizing the Adelsons.
Their collective complicity is obvious, even tho it seems the case against Donna looks best.
Rest in peace, Dan. Extra angels of comfort to his loved ones.
Thank you Peter❤ I now pretty much go through you to watch everything you cover that interest me. I don't like it without you explaining things for us to understand ❤
Thank you for your support!
I wonder if they’ve put the other Adelson family members on the no-fly list. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Donna trying to get out of the country. None of them could even be bothered to come see the verdict of their son/brother.
Something you said made me think of this little poem: “Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive.” Sir Walter Scott (1808)
Thanks for all of the untangling you have done with this case. Vicki
An Emergency suspension of Charlie’s license to practice dentistry was issued on 11/9/2023. He would not be able to practice dentistry in prison. Harvey retired his license in February 2022.
Thank you Peter for your insight and coverage of this case. Great job, as always!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Luis Rivera seemed like most honest
