I’m hesitant to send it in for warranty repair because they’ll probably say it’s fine and then I’m stuck with paying the fee to send it in. $159 seems like a good deal to me right now anyway since it’s twice the torque.
Finally!!!! I was days away from buying a mid torque Milwaukee and I’m a Ryobi nut. Thanks Ryobi and thanks for the video review!! I definitely can’t wait to get my hands on this unit
I just purchased the P261; so far I'm very happy with that wrench, it does everything i have needed so far. The auto function on the P262 looks like a great feature.
I've been hoping and waiting for Ryobi to step up with a more powerful 1/2 impact wrench. My P261 is one of my most used tools, but it just doesn't have the power to break larger fasteners (like on control arms) loose. Looks like Ryobi answered the call. Definitely getting this when it comes out.

I have a P261 impact wrench and I was really hoping for a brushless eventually, nice to see Ryobi is listening to consumers. Nice review. I wonder if they have an angled impact wrench kinda like the P344 but impact and user assistable in the works.
Yes, it's great to see Ryobi expanding their brushless to the impact wrench line as well. They do not have a right angle impact wrench yet, but maybe soon. Thanks for watching.
Hopefully they come out with a true 3/8” compact that has a size profile close to dewalt’s atomic compact. I have no reason to add a 3/8” impact unless it has a super small profile and I don’t want to start buying different tools and batteries now that I have 4 ryobi HP batteries.
I'm really excited about this product. I was just in the market for a Milwaukee 2861 but I wasn't excited about having to buy another battery system and charger. I already have the ryobi 18v for my nail gun. I can buy the tool only and be ready to go! And I just wanted this in the truck for emergency tire changes and stuff like that while traveling across the US with my travel trailer. Not a mechanic and /or trying to make a living with this tool. Thanks for the great review!!
I've got the original single speed Ryobi impact wrench. It's one of the most used tools in my shop. I absolutely love it. Every now and then, though, I find a fastener that it won't break free. Based on your test, I think one of these new hotnesses is coming home with me...
I started with the 261 ... than added a 262 to the stable. 262 is TWICE the impact! Don't get me wrong, I still use the 261 for basic things, but the 262 is my go to! RYOBI also stands behind their tools ... my FIRST 262 had an internal failure about a year on from purchase ... I sent it back, and they shipped me a BRAND NEW one to replace it. I've slowly, but surely, transitioned all my battery tools to RYOBI over the last couple years. In fact, the only time I turn on my compressor is to air tires! lol
Been on the fence about moving away from the Ryobi platform. Currently have the P261 and it’s been good but there have been a few times I needed more breakaway force and had to pull out the air impact. I do a lot of automotive work. Now I guess I can stick with it for a while longer. Worst part is having to wait for it to hit the shelves now.
Upgraded from an older 18v kit. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv I independently chose the drill and impact tool, before I came across the kit.I like the 3 speed impact gun. It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.

Borrowed Friends Impact with 4ah batt. My SUV melted/welded on CV axle nut didn't budge after 24hr penetrating oil treatment. Next day at junk yard to find replacement parts, I Tested his impact with one shot of pb blaster on 4 different axle nuts. All zipped off no problem. After seeing this video. I bought one the impact plus 6 amp battery with 6 month to pay off. I never knew I needed this impact in my life till the CV axle replacement issue. 👍💯😍😂💲💰
I have the last model they made, but I'm very impressed with this new impact wrench. I guess I'll be buying me one when they are out on sale. I liked that review if you will. Nice way to tryout for accuracy on those numbers. Awesome, just awesome. 👍👍👍
I have this thing. You can feel that it is quality. It will obviously fall short of Milwaukee, but imo it doesn't fall short enough to justify me paying Milwaukie prices. The difference for a dyi guy like me is negligible. I also have the long neck ratchet and that thing is absolutely badass. Ryobi tools also accept batteries from whatever year you bought the tool or battery as long as it's Ryobi. I think that is really cool. Great brand. Some clever guys behind the Ryobi name for sure.
I wish you compared the dimensions to their 275ft/lbs compact impact wrench. Is there a way to know how tight we're getting the nuts with these Ryobi impact wrenches? How do we know how many ft./lbs. we're tightening our nuts? Do we need a separate torque wrench? Or does the Ryobi tool have some fairly accurate method for letting us know? Thank you 😊
I bought the 3/8 drive impact, then the brushless version came out. I was mad. But according to specs the old brushed version (220 ft lbs) is more powerfull than the new brushless (160 ft lbs). I also have the old brushed version of this 1/2 drive, now i know they are coming out with brushless version. I need to compare the specs of the two. Thank you.
I really enjoyed this review, but would you possible be willing to do a test with this exact impact wrench, but using a 3 or 4 ah one+ battery that is NOT the hp model, so it won't have the two extra terminals? I am exceedingly curious if my relatively new non hp batteries will run this well enough to spend the extra money for it over the 3 speed model.
I live in the Northeast and this thing tore right through those rusted hub bearing bolts , strut mounts, and axle nuts. Game changer if you have no lift to get leverage on those devils. I use the 4 HP battery.
Thanks for the review o went out a bought one tonight I had a old harbor freight one the batteries went bad and you can’t get batteries for them so. Thank you plus I inherited four battery es and three chargers from my father in-laws estate
Right on. Glad I could help. I will mention that this new HP impact works much better with HP batteries 3Ah and more. If the batteries you inherited are older and smaller, the impact may not work as well. Thanks for watching.
What is taking the PBLIW01B so long to show up for sale? It was announced months ago yet still isnt available.. that one has over 1000 pounds break torque.
I just buy this impact wrench in Ryobi char up event where you get a 2 Ah non-HP battery and a charger free. I'm impress that the 2 AH have no trouble for removing my lug nut. Before I still skeptical and always think spend more money to get on Milwaukee. but Ryobi sold me on that.
Powerful for sure. Would like to see that auto-mode just lower the speed to continue loosing the nut all the way instead of just stopping once it's loosened. Otherwise nice impact wrench.
It would be hard to implement such a design like that with a a variable trigger. What's to say you let go of the trigger once loosened? Would it only work in that ”lower speed”? While it's a good idea I can see why it's just not as practical
@@marcusmagnusson5102 online using Home Depot phone app. Funny when I searched "Ryobi 1/2 impact" I got a list, the add button was available. But if you click on the item. You only see a notify me button. Check often, stocks are limited at the moment, like me you might get lucky.
I guess DeWalt and Milwaukee will have to come out with a 700 ft-lbs+ impact now to up the game. Looks very similar to the DeWalt XR impacts that were out back in 2017. The auto mode looks pretty cool though. Now that HYTORC that you have for setting up the test is a super beast! Nice clamp holding down your test rig too!
what would be really helpful (as I am using it to remove car wheels if a mishap in the backcountry) would be to know if at setting 1, 2 what the torque achieved is? Hate to snap off studs when 50 miles in AND don't want 45lbf/ft either - - so I was hopeful this could replace carrying a lug wrench
That's not an accurate power delivery at all. These power modes are very random, and they change drastically based on certain conditions, including battery charge.
Sorry for this dumb question, but I was under the impression Amp hour indicated how long the battery would last. This video implies higher amp hour battery gives more power?
idk if you know but the old brushless ryobi tools had extra connectors on the tool that match with HP batteries. does this new line of tools use those extra connectors???
Am guessing this is why the borg has the 99$ impact wrench kits all over the place over the holiday weeks. Will now wait after seeing this video to buy a ryobi impact wrench. Thank You!!!!
I got the tool at direct tool outlet and it came with a charger and a battery for 159 plus tax brand new tool but the charger and battery were refurbished
Just received my p262 over the weekend. Tried using auto mode to loosen the lugs on my wheels but unlike the video, the tool kept running even after impacting stopped. It just slowed down but never came to a complete stop. Did I get a defect?
It's called a HYTORC LION Torque Gun. It goes up to 700 ft-lbs, but they have one that goes to several thousand ft-lbs. Thanks for watching. ua-cam.com/video/yALFkJz0iSs/v-deo.html
I absolutely give my ryobi HELL, never once had a problem with anything breaking (unlike DeWalt). The battery’s seem to last as well. If i have something large I use air. I’m glad to see them expanding the way they are. I’m slowly switching to Milwaukee, but I’ll have one of these!! Thanks brother Tim your the best! Keep doin whatcha do! 🤙🏻
Not sure what u mean. I’ve had Dewalt and The farm conditions have treated them like “Hell” all that dust, water, and mud etc. Never a single problem. I’ve also had ryobi and they also are durable as hell but they just don’t perform like my Dewalt even with big ass batteries.
In your opinion, for someone who does mild DIY mechanic work and modifications, would it be more useful for me to grab the P261 and P263 for $120 right now, or the P262 for $160? Currently have no impact wrench, so it'd be the first buy!
I would probably get the P262. You're going to need the most power you can get for your first gun, especially if you're removing lug nuts. Come back later and buy a more compact gun. Thanks for watching.
I had just purchased the Ryobi P-262 impact wrench for my home use. With a rating of up to 600 ' pounds I figured it would exceed my needs. Put a fresh 4 AH battery in it and tried to loosen lug nuts that were torqued to 150. No go so i loosened them and re-torqued to 150. Still no go. I returned the tool to Home Depot and got a refund. Now I wonder - did I get a defective tool??? From all of the YT videos, it appears that the tool is normally great.
That is pretty impressive. I just bought a new Milwaukee a month or so ago. Home Depot had such a good deal on them at $199 and they came with a battery, charger, bag, and the 3/8 ratchet along with a battery for that and the charger that does both batteries. My old Dewalt has had it. I have quite a few Ryobi tools though so maybe I will buy one of these too since I already have batteries. Maybe the Direct Tools store at the outlet will get some factory 2nds in and I can get one there pretty cheap just to have it. They have I think 2 different 1/2 Ryobi impacts already don't think they are brushless I don't know but they go on sale for $50 or so pretty often.
Thanks for this video!. I am thinking to grab one but i only have a 1.5aH battery. Do you think it'll be able to remove lugs on my car (all 4 tires) with it ? or will i def need to buy another battery?
Very impressed with the Ryobi HP impact Wrench. The only thing I don't like is the Ryobi warranty and customer service. I need five years like Milwaukee.

Got this one, just ordered the little guy and missed out on stock for the high impact kit...
Awesome tool. Nice upgrade by Ryobi compared to its brush 1/2 impact wrench.
It sure is. They've come a long way. Thanks for watching.
Just bought one. Still relevant today! So compact!
I have the last model they made, but I'm very impressed with this new impact wrench. I guess I'll be buying me one when they are out on sale. I liked that review if you will. Nice way to tryout for accuracy on those numbers. Awesome, just awesome. 👍👍👍
Thanks for watching.
Today is the day for your sale.
Thanks for the review. Have you done a video on the wrench that you torqued the nuts with?
Yes he has.
Thank you.
Thanks for watching.
What is that "LiON" tool you used to torque the bolts on? I have never seen something like that
I live in the Northeast and this thing tore right through those rusted hub bearing bolts , strut mounts, and axle nuts. Game changer if you have no lift to get leverage on those devils. I use the 4 HP battery.
I got one a few months ago and use it lots I love it I got the Ryobi 3/8 ratchet and love it also
Thanks for the review o went out a bought one tonight I had a old harbor freight one the batteries went bad and you can’t get batteries for them so.
@@Shoptoolreviews they are all 3ah and one is 6ah
Works great! Removed my wheels with no issues at all. Saves a lot of time.
Great to hear!
Before I still skeptical and always think spend more money to get on Milwaukee. but Ryobi sold me on that.
well done!
just got mine today - Memorial day sale
Im still using a 2020 model i have but that thing through hell it is a brushed one aswell its still alive
Keep using it if it works for you. No need to spend money for no reason. Thanks for sharing.
I am very interested for u to push this thing to the limit also im one ur new subscribers very entertaining
Powerful for sure. Would like to see that auto-mode just lower the speed to continue loosing the nut all the way instead of just stopping once it's loosened. Otherwise nice impact wrench.
Yes, that's not a bad idea. Some other manufacturers do this, but Milwaukee/Ryobi seem to choose the "stop" route. Thanks for watching.
Probably not allowed to do that as that's Milwaukees deal. Ryobi has to live in the shadow of big red.
It would be hard to implement such a design like that with a a variable trigger. What's to say you let go of the trigger once loosened? Would it only work in that ”lower speed”? While it's a good idea I can see why it's just not as practical
@@mukkena7453 it's how the Milwaukee works...
@@stevetekrv5791 interesting...
I just got mine yesterday, like it. 👍 HD$159
Awesome. Glad to hear. Thanks for watching.
where did you buy it?
@@marcusmagnusson5102 online using Home Depot phone app. Funny when I searched "Ryobi 1/2 impact" I got a list, the add button was available. But if you click on the item. You only see a notify me button. Check often, stocks are limited at the moment, like me you might get lucky.
I wonder if the power is the same with 2ah batteries compared to 4ah
How’s the nut busting torque when using the regular 1.5 amp and 4 amp batteries
7/8 A325 STRUCTURAL BOLT USED WE USED TO HAVE TO TORQUE AT 780 AND 1" 1050FT LBS, 3/4 WAS TORQUED TO 350FT LB
Awesome video. Going to buy one right now. I should say thanks but my wallet says you bastard.
I'm wondering if the P262 has those brushless tabs for the 3ah, 6ah, and 9ah brushless batteries...
Yes, it does. Twin tabs at the base of the tool for the HP batteries. Thanks for watching.
Once you have the batteries the Ryobi tool only purchase is a no brainer. I love the Ryobi tools.
Just bought one. Can’t wait to use it
Awesome. We hope you love it. Thanks for watching.
Am guessing this is why the borg has the 99$ impact wrench kits all over the place over the holiday weeks. Will now wait after seeing this video to buy a ryobi impact wrench. Thank You!!!!
Thanks for watching, and we hope it works well for you.
What do modes one and two do? Do they limit the torque or just limit the speed?
I was on my way to get the new Milwaukee but I got a lot of ryobi stuff when will it hit the market?
It should hit the market by February. Thanks for watching.
I'm super impressed!
Awesome, Thanks for watching.
Got the p262, cuts out after a couple impacts for no reason at all doing 95 ftlb lug nuts, anyone have this experience? Same result in all modes
Did I get a defect?
how much is that hytorc impact you using I want that one please give me price how much that cost ?
I’m really looking forward to the day the world can agree on using one system of units of measurement... Great tool!
You and me both! And, include standards on how they're measured. Thanks for watching.
What was the torquing tool you used in the video? How high will it torque something?
It's called a HYTORC LION Torque Gun. It goes up to 700 ft-lbs, but they have one that goes to several thousand ft-lbs. Thanks for watching.

So is this thing coming out anytime soon? Just curious... Can't find it anywhere..
Your digital torque wrench impact is pretty nice what kind is it
HYTORC Lion Torque Gun.

@@Shoptoolreviews thxs man great video I have the same impact but yours is nicer lol
I appreciate the kudos, more than you know. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Not sure what u mean. I’ve had Dewalt and The farm conditions have treated them like “Hell” all that dust, water, and mud etc. Never a single problem. I’ve also had ryobi and they also are durable as hell but they just don’t perform like my Dewalt even with big ass batteries.
I’ve had my DeWalt dcf899 and been used hard for 5yrs - never had a problem with it and it’ll take almost anything off. Only Milwaukee can better it
Hows Ryobi with the warranty. What's ur opinion between this one and the ridgid 86011
Hey, nice review. Is it better than Rigid Octane R86011B? Iam confused between these two. Wanna buy impact for home use to work on my vehicle
Do they sell it in US? I can’t find it at home depot website !
Yeah, meh, I'm not planning to wait much longer.
Supposed to be released in February. Thanks for watching.
What brand of socket you using for this Wrench?
It looks a lot like the Ridgid octane mid torque 620 ft lb and it has comprable stats I'm pretty sure that's what the innards are
Both are TTI so you're probably correct.
It does look a lot like the Ridgid impact, and yes, they're both made by TTi. Thanks for watching.
I wish I had one I wish I could find one with the battery and charger
They will probably offer it that way soon. Thanks for watching.
Just got mine at home depot today, came with a charger and 4ah battery for only $100...
Nvm I got the regular one, not the +HP
I had just purchased the Ryobi P-262 impact wrench for my home use. With a rating of up to 600 ' pounds I figured it would exceed my needs. Put a fresh 4 AH battery in it and tried to loosen lug nuts that were torqued to 150. No go so i loosened them and re-torqued to 150. Still no go. I returned the tool to Home Depot and got a refund.
Now I wonder - did I get a defective tool??? From all of the YT videos, it appears that the tool is normally great.
Do when do they become available for us customers? Feb got it thanks
Thanks for mentioning Direct Tools - I hadn't heard of them. You just saved me a bunch of money.
Thanks for this video!. I am thinking to grab one but i only have a 1.5aH battery. Do you think it'll be able to remove lugs on my car (all 4 tires) with it ? or will i def need to buy another battery?
1.5ah way too small. Use at least a 6ah, a 10ah is even better.
Very impressed with the Ryobi HP impact Wrench. The only thing I don't like is the Ryobi warranty and customer service. I need five years like Milwaukee.
Just purchased P261 from amazon. Still in return window so its going back for the P262 from Home Depot.
That's a pretty good choice. Thanks for watching.
What is the best socket set to buy for this tool? Anybody can help please?
Can I use these hp batters on my one+ battery charger?
Will it work with 24 WH batteries?
