- We put the new RIDGID R86012 up against the Snap-On CT9015 and the RYOBI P262 Mid-Torque Impact Wrenches. All three impacts are powered by 18-volt batteries, the RYOBI and RIDGID include 4Ah, while the Snap-On wears a 5Ah version. Each delivers power to a 1/2" anvil through a brushless motor and variable speed trigger.

Drill- Packedge in typical box, came with a tool bag (added bonus), two batteries, one charger, drill, and driver. Two words "plenty of Torque" ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv well I guess that's three. Nice upgrade from current setup. Has belt clips, I don't think I will be using those. Driver and drill were bigger than what I expected but it is an upgrade from the current setup. For the money I would say that this is a great setup for Professionals and DIY/Weekend warriors.

Definitely agree. I got the p262 with 3 batteries charger and bag for $214 after tax then I got the 3/8” extended reach ratchet with a 4ah battery for $135 so $350 for what would have been $1400 if they had the snap on label. Ridiculous.
How is it that fair of a test if he didn't show Ryobi doing the 650 test ??
Have many Ryobi saws, lights, drills, impact and trimmers/blowers, Love them all! Battery interchange is what first sold me, son is on board with Ryobi tools now
even though ryobi didnt hit 650 ft pounds its still a great buy, if your working on cars 600 ft pounds is enough to get bolts off
For just taking wheels off a few times a year, do you think the Ryobi mid torque is enough or should I get the high torque?
I'm an avg DIYer for my cars and home and my Ryobi tools have yet to fail me after many years.
As an average diy as well, ryobi gets the job done for the cheapest price. Plus, for what you’re paying you get pretty good quality especially the hp brushless line
They also have some other good items in the system besides the usual tools, like lights, hand vacuum, and inverters. The whole family uses those all the time, and that saves needing to use other types of batteries.

Innovation and competition is key and Ryobi and Ridgid challenge each other to bring the highest quality at the lowest price point. Ryobi's 1/2" impact wrench is the next target of my affections because Ridgids color scheme doesn't match my eyes.

found a deal on Amazon for the RYOBI P262 bare tool at 89.99. went with a knockoff 9ah HP battery with good reviews for 49.99 as I already have a charger and a few one+ tools lying around. Works flawlessly for the price I couldn’t be happier.

Honestly, good industrial design is a sign of good processes, manufacturing capabilities. Rarely do we see “ugly but good” in today’s world. When harbour freight looks to have put more effort into their over-moulded batteries than Snap-On I find it interesting. It shows there isn’t as much cost in making a device look good as there used to be. The Snap-On batteries I’m sure have a quality ABS lower half on that battery, but I still wouldn’t want to drop it.
Snap-On is coasting on name with a tool performance like that. 🤷🏻♂️

I've been using the heck out of some rigids for a few years and have no complaints at all. Recently added the high torque with a 4ah max output battery for $200!
I picked up the same deal a month or so back. Octane high torque and 4ah max output for $199.99. Great tool!
You guys should see if you can find the 3ah octane for those bad boys. Supposed to be the best battery for them. Ive found them on facebook market place and amazon. Havent grabbed one tho cause i still have the first brushless impact before the octane and works grest for me over 4 years now. Not a fan of ridgid drills and recips (never had luck with longevity, my bro either) but their impacts and other tools have been great

I picked up the Ryobi P262 kit, tool, 4hr battery and charger from Home Depot for $242 with tax. Shipped to store in a few days. Charged it up. Took lug nuts off boat trailer with ease.
I just bought the battery kit with has the charger, a 2,4, and 6ah batteries and the p262 for $199!

Ryobi kicks ass when we compare overall alone with price tag. I've just purchased 2 4hr Ryobi HP Batteries at Home Depot for $99 bucks. Ryobi is the best mid range gun. Anything needed above 600 lbs of torque, don't go for 650lbs, get the one used in the video that bro didn't do a review on 😂!!! Great video👍🏾🔥
@T'Real, The Ryobi is a solid mid-torque impact for smaller fasteners around 500 ft-lbs. The Kobalt NG mid-torque spanks the Ryobi, which are generally in the same price range.
Been using the Ryobi in construction and auto work for over a year ,just make sure you get the higher powered battery never had a problem
I have been really liking the Ryobi series since I got a grinder with two batteries and a charger for only $99 a couple of years ago!
The only real downfall is the bulk and weight with some of their stuff. The batteries are huge. I’ve had lots of their 18v stuff for years and only killed a sawsall and impact driver after years of use, those were both the old blue ones. No issues with the green ones so far.

I'm watching this video right after watching your other video of the 1/4" impact driver's. Both the Ridgid and Ryobi were able to remove 450-500ft/lbs with that 1/2 socket adapter which blew my mind....these dedicated 1/2" guns seems to be struggling.... very odd testing.

It's all about value for the money for me. My tools don't make me money so I need something that's going to do what I need around the house. I don't pay for bragging rights.

I just bought myself a Ryobi set last Christmas after a lot of research and knowing that I'd mostly gotten by fine with a Craftsman Nextec 12v set for the last 10 years or so. Except for one battery and one drill giving up the ghost... The Craftsman set is still chugging along and I still use it for small jobs that don't really need 18 volt power.
Did I want the Milwaukee or the DeWalt? Of course... I like to splurge too. However, I have 12 tools and six 4aH batteries for the price of a five tool set on either of those brands.
I repair heavy equipment,dozers,excavators,graders,loaders etc and for cordless,my chests have Ryobi & Rigid 1/2 High & mid torques,Ryobi 3/8 impacts extended reach 3/8 & 1/4 ratchets heat guns & many other tools by the 2 brands.. I use 6ah ryobi battery & 4 & 6ah rigid batteries..Used daily with zero fails with both..Guys with their snap on stuff try to bash the green & orange & I just laff..They know whats really up,when Im spinning pad bolts off rails etc & their snap ons are tucked in their drawers!!
At Home Depot for $199 you buy the Ryobi HP Battery kit with 2AH, 4AH, 6AH batteries +Charger and get the P262 for free. Not a bad deal at all. Bought it today along with the long neck 3/8 ratchet. I'll add a PBLIW01B in a few weeks if needed. I'm getting to old to manually ratchet everything just doing simple brake jobs and other car repairs at home. Plus, this should shorten the time greatly.

Have you done a test on the Ryobi high torque? I’d love to see a video of what that can do against day Milwaukee and snap on high torques.
I've got this exact model Ryobi with 4.0 Ah battery . Verry happy with it . Takes off some major bolts / nuts off . It's got plenty of powere . I tested it at first , tightening tire lug nuts wirh it by checking with a long breaker bar and it was very tight with it being in auto mode

Hey Tim, is there any chance you can test Bosch's new FREAK GDX18V-1860? Per the manual it says up to 275 ft/lbs of breakaway torque. Looks like it could give the much pricier Snap-On a run for its money

I also got this with a $5 discount on top so $206-207 after tax. It was supposed to be online only but I got it in store went back to get the same deal with the pblrc25 extended reach 3/8” ratchet but they wouldn’t let me. After waiting over an hour to talk to a manager I got the ratchet and a 4ah battery for $135 a spectacular discount for the piss poor customer service and waste of time they put me through. But for 4 batteries 1 charger a bag and 2 great tools I paid $341 but if they were crap on tools I would have paid $1400!?!? Efff that noise. These ryobi hp auto tools are killer.

Perfect timing am looking for a 1/2 inch upgrade but basically for changing out summer/ winter tires so no need to break the bank for a tool that sits in the drawer for most of it's life

Most of the "stubby", compact, or sub-compact 1/2" impact wrenches have enough power to remove lug nuts on passenger vehicles and trailers. Anything that delivers at least 175ftlb should be enough for most passenger cars and light trucks. When you get to the heavy duty commercial trucks and trailers, you might need more for lug nuts.
Where the extra power makes a difference on lighter duty vehicles is on some suspension parts where rust is likely to be a factor, and on some crank bolts.
You can get the last generation rigid octane ones that they're closing out for real good prices at home Depot now. I have plenty of power just hard to find the octane batteries which really give him a boost. But for lug nuts it should more than do the trick

If that’s all you need it for a corded impact would do the job. This makes sense for going beyond lug nuts.
On your first test of Ryobi 262 how come it broke 600 in 2 seconds ? Just curious.
I've been in the automotive and heavy duty transport industry for over 35yrs. Tool Trucks benefit from instant gratification, pay a little bit every week for 2 or 3yrs, to that fancy new tool, and go back work. Either one of the much more powerful, and far less expensive box store brands can be had for approximately 3 to 4 weekly tool payments. So, save your money and buy the Better option.
I think the ryobi is the winner based on balanced power throughout its 3 settings!
Actually this test is so inaccurate on so many levels. 1st what’s the model # of the Snap on (so we can check its specs) 2nd what batteries where used on the Rigid & Ryobi (Octane for Rigid & HP or their newest High Performance Lithium +) sounds Like TTI wants mechanics away from Snap On. Honestly Snap On been milking it for Years. Impact Wrench king is Milwaukee true, tried, & tested. However, Snap-On will outlive them all.

@@chillstep4life the Ryobi with a buried it trust me it puts out literally 810 ft lb of torque I have this and the rigid the rigid gets about 625 and then the snap-on is right at about 290-300 and it's four hundred plus dollars

Snap-on cordless power tools were great 15 years ago when they came out. They haven't changed not advanced any since. Most other cordless tools are way better than Snap-on and yet snap on is still the most expensive by far. Hard to beat Ridgid power tools, especially with the LSA!

Right now at Home Depot (07/06/24) the rigid R86012 is $150 for two 4mah Max batteries and the charger. Not bad at all.
I used to be a very pro-Rigid tool buyer because their products are good. But I would take that 'Lifetime' waranty with a grain of salt. They lost half of my registered tools when they supposedly changed their system. I found that out when I tried to get the lifetime battery replacement for a drill. They said they didn't show it in their system. I decided to check on my other tools and many were no longer in their system. They also said there was nothing they could do to clear this problem. All this after buying a their table saw, miter saw, multitool, sanders... Quality tools, but a company I no longer trust.
That’s ashame buddy, I have all my ridgid stuff documented on Lsa status and have printed off copy’s. I know you shouldn’t have had to do it but you can never be to safe as these tool are an expensive investment. I’m and hvac tech by trade and use my stuff religiously.. they are going to choke on that Warrenty 🤣

If all you are using it for your personal vehicle, then either ryobi or ridgid is great. Personally I like the milwaukee m12 1/2" stubby for my SUV.

There are a couple of things I would like to point out.
First is the batteries. Snap-on had a 5A battery and the other two had 4A batteries. The Snap-on should have done better given that it could have drawn on more power. Not in this case.
Now Ridgid and Ryobi have larger capacity batteries available. I do know Ridgid has a couple of different 4A batteries, a 6A Octane battery, a 8A battery, and a 12A battery (this one I do not own at this time). Most of them will increase performance on most Ridgid tools (you do have to check what works best together for your job).
Second item is how comfortable it is to hold the tools. I have good size hands and tried several of the brands to see how comfortable the tools are to hold. I went with the Ridgid. Good length and and not large in diameter for the grip. The Ryobi with its battery style has to make the grip shorter in length and larger in diameter.
Never understood why someone would want to get Snap On power tools. Yeah their hand tools are amazing but power wise everything I've seen from them is mediocre or leagues behind and of course extremely expensive. Same reason people buy crap like Gucci I guess 🤷♂️

I've always been told that Ryobi was just junk and your wasting your money but I said screw it it's such a good deal it can't be that bad. Very surprised with it, It out performs one of my old Husky air impact wrench.
What is that torque gun? I want one!
What I need to know is the torque the Ryobi will tighten TO in each mode. Everyone either focuses on breaking torque or just max overall tightening torque.

I feel like that is because tightening with reckless abandon is less useful than knowing how tight of a bind you can get something out of. What are you tightening so much?
These tighten almost anything more than enough. If your worried about torque you should use a torque wrench anyway not just pull the trigger on an impact and hope for the best
Ngl from a design point, the Snap-On looks cheap. I like the design of the Ryobi best, and their performance has come a long way. Performance of the Snap-On is laughable.

I’m really just speculating, but I bet that TTI is really just more experienced at making these sorts of tools. Snap on’s poor button isn’t from trying to be cheaper. Their designers just don’t have the same experience at knowing how buttons work and feel with different types of assemblies.
I bet TTI tries a lot harder to save pennies, but their industrial designers know what dome buttons with adhesive membranes vs micro switches vs a button on a PCB with a raised extender and a spring built into the plastic mold feel like.
(The Kobalt battery I just disassembled had a small button on a PCB. At the other end, there was a sticker with a raised dimple. In between them was a ~1cm long piece of plastic that was part of the main battery housing. The plastic housing provided all the spring tension. It would take a lot of experimenting with different designs to get that to feel right. Injection molds are $$$$$, so you really want an expert to do this who’s done it many times before, or else you’ll just keep trying over and over…)

I mean Ryobi and Milwaukee are made by TTI and I'm not positive but believe Ridged is as well considering it's a carbon copy of M18 Fuel Gen 2 Milwaukee mid torque impact wrench, or it's a copycat of internals and housing.

I've got the kobalt XTR half inch and the quarter inch and I've got it up to 1,289 ft pound loosening and 887 fastening and it will out perform my Milwaukee 1400 it's amazing!

Can you use the standard 2.0ah battery on the ryobi to see how it compares to the 4.0 for me? I want to see if the 2.0 is up to the task
If I use anything smaller than a 4ah it's performance is weak. So I would say use 4ah or better.

The 891 is a hog ring model, 892 is the ball detent model

Are you sure they are 140 and not way more after a visit to the tire shop or quick lube? Same model? I never take my cars to those places any more because they’ve always came back way over torqued.

Are you using a 4ah battery or larger battery? Ryobi recommends using at least a 4 Amp hour battery.

For what I’m going to use it for, the 4 amp battery will be fine.

Snap one use to be king of the yard but now they’ve got people so loyal to the brand that there slowly getting closer to black and decker quality. Which is a real shame because years ago you’d be proud of owning snap on.
You forgot the years warranty on the Rigid or let’s just say you didn’t mention it. You’re going to have to tighten up.

Ryobi didn't fail the 650 because you didn't try it and it did handle the 600 just as well as Rigid also you seem to cut the Ryobi off way faster on mode 2 while letting the Snap-On run way longer. i have seen a ton of people reviewing Ryobi and seems most of them are eager to quickly cut Ryobi out faster. I have all my tools in Ryobi and I have had only two of them give me problems and both of those tools were the smaller battery ones. If you have a problem with any Ryobi contact them and they will help you if they can. IMHO

Snap on makes great hand tools. Some of the best. But fanboys get blinded by that and think their power tools are just as good. Nope. Leave the power tools to the companies whose main focus is power tools
