Yes, love project farm. He also showed Pennzoil Ultra to be damn close to Amsoil, without the added trouble of going through Amsoil dealers to purchase. I would use Amsoil if it was available locally.
I recently purchased some amsoil products it was because every time project farm test amsoil regardless of what amsoil product it is it beats the competition every single time.

I've been using Amsoil for 10 years now it's the best in my opinion and I use it in my Subaru cars. I'm am a preferred customer of Amsoil.

In 2002, I purchased a GMC Sierra 1500 5.3 liter 2 wheel drive extended cab.I change the engine oil, rear differential oil at 500 miles. I had the trans drained and the coolant replaced at 42,000. All replaced with Amsoil products. I still have that vehicle. It currently has 234,846 miles on it. At 100,000 miles, I had a tech perform a compression test, he stated that all eight cylinders had "like new" compression. . Last year, I had that same test performed. The tech stated that all eight cylinders had very good compression readings. I've had several people take a test drive with me, allowing them to drive the truck. All are always amazed at to how well the truck runs and performs. I change the oil & (Ea) filter once per year. I have never seen anytime where the oil level required me to add any oil between changes. I still have the original window sticker in my file cabinet. To this very day, I continue to experience fuel economy numbers or 22.5 miles p/gal highway and around 16 city. Before I had that truck I had a 1994 GMC with the 4.3 V6. My wife and I put 267,000 plus miles on that thing and the only major fix was a trans converter and a few suspension parts. I use Amsoil in EVERYTHING! Lawn mowers, tillers, generators, garden tractors, chain saws, line trimmers. The list goes on and on. All you can say what you want about Amsoil. It has protected all my equipment for many many years. I am staying with what has proven to be the right shit to use.

I had a 1990 Nissan pickup truck with 667,000 before I blew a head gasket and didn’t use a drop of amsoil,which proves nothing, just like your statement

Ditto. 1981 Dodge truck/ 225 slant six/ 4speed O.D. 431,000 miles. Replaced one exhaust valve at 394,000 miles. Amsoil 10-30 from 65,000 miles onward.
I'm Australian, but I will say this... when an American company sets-out to beat the competition, they achieve it, on-time every time.
It's a shame they can't build automobiles like the Japanese.

American companies are not business of beating the competition by making better product. It's way more profitable to invest in advertisement than R&D or - god forbid - quality control. Patriotic card also helps them immensely - intellectually challenged drop everything and run to buy their [Mexico-made] crap.

I drive a 2005 Dodge Ram SRT-10 I have used Mobil 1 0W-40 per manufacturer recommendation. I switched to Amsoil 0-40 signature for the last 2 oil changes, last 6500 miles. The Viper V10 does not allow for extended service intervals. My average oil temp has dropped 10-15 degrees F and my coolant temp is down 10 degrees. Oil still looked nice when I changed it as well. Performance is the goal of my entire vehicle and Amsoil is delivering. I am a happy customer, just figured I would share.

I had similar results after my friend recommended to put Amsoil 10W-40 Motorcycle oil in my 2006 Vulcan Nomad, V-Twin 1600 motorcycle. I could not believe the difference Amsoil made. The engine ran noticeably cooler and MUCH quieter. Gears shifted better and the wet clutch felt great. I would have never believed that a simple oil change could make such a difference. Currently I use Amsoil products in all of my vehicles, motorcycles and even in my lawnmower and my Honda generator.
Amsoil gear oil seems to perform better as well. I have always noticed some wear particles on the drain plug magnet in my truck's rear differential. After switching to Amsoil Severe Gear 75W-90, there were very few wear particles on the magnet, definitely less than with Mobil1 gear oil.
As mentioned above, I have put Amsoil Small Engine 10W-30 oil in my Honda EU2000i generator. The generator runs noticeably smoother and quieter.
Amsoil filters are definitely build to high quality standards. My new 4Runner requires a cartridge type oil filter. Unlike filters made by the major competitors, Amsoil filters are built on a metal frame with quality o-ring seals on each end. It does not take a rocket scientist to pick the Amsoil filter as a superior product.

You are unfortunately misinformed. While dodge did offer a v-10 iron block in 2500 and 3500 that pig is not what I am referring to. From 2004-2006 the v-10 all aluminum viper engine was available in a ram 1500. All you need is a quick search Dodge Ram Srt-10, the fastest production truck ever made.
This is spot on. I remember a long time ago I was working on my Datsun 280z (yeah, they were Datsun way back then) and this guy stopped by and asked me if I would like to give Amsoil a try. Sure, why not and I never looked back. He told me to give it a try and if I liked it he would sell me some. The first round was free. Amsoil is so good they let their product speak for it's self. I saw better gas mileage and the engine just felt smoother. I was seeing no measureable wear and reached 290K miles on my 280Z and I wasn't kind to it, getting that many miles on a hard run car ........
And Amsoil is the only Synthetic that has data sheets proving it's better than other brands. No other MFG feels free to give out as much info about their product. It's very rare for anyone using Amsoil to fall back and use another brand once they try it. Their product sell's it's self You don't need tacky sales like putting this oil on the Oil filler cap ...

By the way, I've been using AMSOIL since the 1980's and I've never had a problem with any of its products.
Kendall is not “the cheap stuff” it is excellent oil. I used it with great results in everything I owned for 30 years. This includes pickup trucks, hot rods, boat engines and even roadrace bikes. 12 years ago I did switch to Amsoil, and haven’t regretted it, but I still have nothing but respect for Kendall.

Kendall for years now has been made by Conoco Phillips 66. Kendall sold it's refinery in Pennsylvania a long time ago.
back in the 70s, high school days Kendall was the only oil we used, but times change, Pennzoil platinum or Amsoil are way better today
No doubt, Amsoil is the best. But, if you change your fluids on time, and use a half decent oil, you should be good to go
In some cases yes that works. But heat plus shearing under load can vastly accelerate mineral oil breakdown. Category 4 synthetics, true 100% synthetics are largely unaffected by such heat. Today in our traffic and hotter climate plus engines designed to run hotter and burn cleaner mineral based oils and their additives break down much faster than in the 70's or early 80's. The environment they run within has changed a lot.

Royal purple is the one I don’t understand because outside of a high zinc content, it’s usually pretty shitty in almost every test. That’s the one I don’t understand why ppl buy it
You are wrong. Cheap oils, those that are just good enough are not.
I work in a fleet shop which is a mix of SUVs, light and heavy trucks where for year's has used a Good enough synthetic blend oils that are no longer good enough.
Mobile 1 is also used.
A well known additives company's oil booster is used as well.
They have failed in protecting the newer Gen of high tech engines.
Especially GDI turbo and non turbo GDI engines.
End result has been expensive failures directly related to those oils not being Good Enough.
Any oil that lacks the proper structure to withstand the stresses for which they are not formulated to deal with is NOT good enough no matter how soon or often you change it.
I ran redline in a rebuilt trans for 120k miles on a family and commute van. When the opened and flushed it, they found no noticable wear or particles at all. My mechanic drove it and said it shifted like new. It was an 1997 Astro van. Works for me.
I used Amsoil Signature Series Full Synthetic 5W-20 on a Honda Civic with 220,000 miles on it and had the oil analyzed by Blackstone Labs. The oil had 22,500 miles on it. The guys at Blackstone told me that wear was indicative of an engine that had 5,800 miles of wear. The last time I had 23,500 miles on it and had it analyzed, again using Amsoil Signature Series Full Synthetic with similar lab results. The guys at Blackstone said to try 25,000 miles this time. I do have to change the filter at around 15,000 miles because it will only last that long, while the oil lasts 25,000 miles. GREAT STUFF!!!

I put 396,000 miles on a 1989 civic in a little over four years using conventional oil - at that time, there was no synthetic oil even available so don't pray this purple god for doing something ANY other god would do.
I will start by saying awesome presentation.....well organized ,well edited and absolutley on point.
Some very important points to highlight and make are;
* There is little money in selling Amsoil yourself, some 30 to 35% can be gained.
* Conversely in in many cases lubrication wholesalers/retailers and quick lube shops make some 200% plus on the lubrication products sold
* It is more expensive than most "leading brands" up front.
* Amsoil is mainly purchased by people in the know. Selling Amsoil in many cases, requires employee education point of purchase customer educating, as well as selling techniques and processes.
* Most the general public doesn't give 2 hoots about listening to scientific foundational information, as well as testing and resulting emperical data. So its the sellers job to help it make since and illustrate the value of running Amsoil in terms the customer can and wants to understand.
* The only reason a shop sells Amsoil is because it is the best,and it is not cost based. Amsoil represnts the shop very well......Using and selling Amsoil illustrates the shop owners and their employees knowlege of the lubrication industry.....The shop and their employees have the inside track and are "in the know"! Obviously if the shop knows what's up with this, it must be representative of the rest of the business they do, it is good for the reputation..
* All who value their equipment should use Amsoil! Duh!
AMSOIL IS AS HONEST AS THEY COME!!!! I'm getting a 7.3 rebuilt so I called AMSOIL to ask what oil was best for break-in. The salesman told me to go with Motorcraft conventional definitely for the first and it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to do it for the 2nd oil change. This was so the rings were able to seal properly.
It takes an honest salesman to recommend the competition! After my break-in I'm going with AMSOIL.
Excellent true life experience. The 7.3 is designed for older lube technology, thus the break-in advice. Newer engines do not need the conventional break-in. Many engines come factory loaded with synthetic.

Jon Moore Actually those tests were the result of an independent laboratories that are responsible for testing whether or not oils meet the MINIMUM requirements. These tests are required BY LAW. This video is NOT disputing the fact that the other oils aren't "good enough" it is saying AMSOIL is better.
Furthermore, if they were trying to lie by omission, or exaggerate the truth, they would NOT have shown results where AMSOIL did NOT COME IN FIRST PLACE.

The best ratio of coolant to distilled water to give you the best protection against boil over and freezing is a mixture of 60/40 % coolant to distilled water. Any higher or lower mixture rate will not protect you any better than the 60/40 ratio. Don't forget to check your radiator cap since your radiator uses a pressurized system and requires a cap providing the proper pressurization. Please remember that your radiator coolant only does part of the cooling of the engine. A good part of the engine cooling is also performed by the engine oil.
The founder of Amsoil was a jet pilot during Korea and found out then the stress of moving parts rely on the best lubrication money can buy he started Amsoil in the 60s by the 70s he was the only synthetic company out there with a testing lab and I remember a popular mechanics magazine sold his oil through the mail by 1983 I came across a guy at work who sold amsoil he had their motor oil in his 1975 Chevy pickup and he had at least 5000 miles on the oil at that time 3000 miles on oil was the norm so the thing is they have been making strides in improving their oil and now they are the leader hands down way before BIG OIL came to play

I put hundreds of thousands of miles on a number of vehicles using mainstream - not top of the line - oil with no issues whatsoever.
Longevity is NOT the function of oil brand in its entirety, engine quality is at least as important. To make it simple for you, no matter what kind of oil you use in any ford, jeep, caddy, or suchlike, they won't last nearly as long as Toyota or even Honda.

I seen a channel where they filled up two lawn mower engines one with mobile 1 and the other with Amsoil then they drained both engines before running them the Amsoil engine seized up one minute before the engine with Mobile 1. They explained that Amsoil doesn't have very good surface tension so if you knock a hole in your oil pan and all your oil drains out mobile one will buy you an extra 30 to 45 seconds of film on the inside of your engine before it seizes up.
What you just said prices amsoil is actually better. They drained for the same amount of time but didn't show how much oil actually came out. Because amsoil has much better viscosity even when cold far more oil drained out vs the mobile 1. Almost a 1/4 quart difference in the same time period

Expensive, but lasts longer and no worries! My wife’s car has 105,000, when I put Amsoil in it the engine noise was completely gone! Made a huge difference in start up sound, and normal operation temp!

I realize this is an old video, however, Amsoil is the best without a doubt and according to Amsoils own testing in 2020 Pennzoil Platinum Ultra is the 2nd best - Project Farm concludes the same in his extensive hands on testing.

You know what is a excellent, reasonably priced ( occasionally on sale ) and readily available oil that well exceeds the minimum requirements. Pennzoil ultra platinum. Even looking at the same tests. It scores well on all tests. And the difference in the results between the top scores are minimal. I do not and will not extend my drain interval beyond the oem recommended change, no matter what oil or how much farther it is capable of performing. So for me, and I do believe amsoil is a great product, but factor everything in, pennzoil is probably a better choice when you consider value for dollar.
" better choice" is relevant to each individuals desire, goal and choice. For the best performance and protection, Pennzoil is not the better choice. For your personal criterium, it sounds like it is.

Amsoil appears to be the best oil in independent testing. But here is the problem, Amsoil is difficult to find, at least in the Northeast. I cannot find it in any local stores. Even when I search to purchase online, it is extremely hard to find. Amazon says it is out of stock. When I do find it, the price is $55 for five quarts of 0W20. In your own test results, you show that Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is consistently close in individual test results compared to Amsoil. Ironically, Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is difficult to find locally but it's price at Amazon is $43 per five quarts when purchased in 3 5-quart containers. I buy it for my car where my goal is to put in a top quality oil at a reasonable price.
Recommendation:
Stop marketing Amsoil as an elitist product and get it in local stores. Bring the price down to be more competitive. The Amsoil price is twice that of Mobil 1 Synthetic Extended Performance at the local Walmart. For the average daily driver, the Mobil 1 is a high quality oil at the manufacturer's recommended change intervals.
Pennzoil Ultra Platnum would be my second choice after Amsoil Signature Series.

Very interesting. I knew Amsoil is the best over 25 years ago. I had a 1988 Mustang LX with a 5.0L engine. One morning the oil pump seized. I ended up driving the car for 35 km ( 21.75 miles ), with no noticeable damage afterwards. Mind you I wasn't running the engine much above 2000 rpm. Is there another oil out there that you can do this with without destroying the engine?
I have no doubt that Amsoil is a good product and testing by Project Farm confirms that is the case. However, Project Farm testing is a long way off from ILSAC testing. Mobile 1 extended life and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum both holds current American Petroleum Institute (API) and International Lubricant Specification Advisory Committee (ILSAC) GF-6A licenses. Amsoil makes the GF-5 level, but has not participated in the advanced testing for GF-6A licenses. Amsoil keeps referring to tests done a decade ago (2013) as proof of their superiority but refuse to meet new standards witch tests that are far tougher than those required to make GF -5 levels. The reality is that many oils have now surpassed Amsoil in overall performance as Mobile 1 extended life and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum has proved by passing GF-6A testing. When Amsoil decides to put themselves to this test I'll take another look.
I've been a dedicated Amsoil and filter user for the past 15 years, whether in my car(and past cars/past bikes), Amsoil and filters have given me over 600,000 miles of exciting living!
The project farm results were amazing. Todd is about as unbiased as they come. AMSOIL was a clear winner.
Minute differences in the high end performance mean exactly zip. Pay half the price for another oil as long as it has the same rating and change it more often than the Amsoils of the world and you're better off all around. More frequent oil changes mean better lubrication and removal of sludge. Who wants dirty oil running in an engine for 25,000 miles just because the manufacturer says it can go 25,000 miles before it breaks down. That's just dumb.
Awesome! I have recently started using amsoil after a long break. I have always maintained my vehicles meticulously and done the required fluid and component changes on schedule or before. I've also try to use only the highest quality oil and parts. I've always use synthetic oil and transmission fluid, but what I thought was the highest quality wasn't really. Amsoil oil is and has always been the best. They put all of their information out for everyone to see unlike other companies. As you stated, it's not really surprising why. you're testing as well as other videos on here proof what is already known. Some people get bent out of shape if you tell them something is better than what they are using. I used to use mobil one exclusively, but they are not what they used to be. I have used many different synthetic brands from auto parts store s. In most situations as long as you change your oil every three to five thousand miles it might not make a difference, at least not right away. If however, you are running under extreme conditions, have longer drain intervals and want to maximize the longevity of your vehicle, amsoil is hands-down the best product to put in there. Seriously doubt any oil would help a chevy reach anything Toyota (or even Honda) can with standard oil.

@@corvairkid17 Hm... I have a 2004 4Runner with 230,000 mi that doesn't burn a drop of oil between changes. My 2018 4Runner - just barely broken in with 22,000 mi - doesn't burn a drop of oil either. In my professional life (I left the field 15 years ago so I only can speak for almost 20 years prior to that), I've never seen a single Toyota or Honda with oil consumption problem either.
Just used correct viscosity oil and change before recommend intervals. Cheap, change your oil offen. Like chicken soup, can't hurt. BTW I was Pennzoil Racing Director for 10 yrs (before shell) and worked directly with engineering dept.
I've been working on vehicle engines for over 40 years. Concerning the type of motor oil to use, all depends where you live, the type of vehicle you have, and the type of driving you do. The oils I use are Redline, Klotz, Amsoil, and motul. They are all excellent motor oils.
I've been hearing a lot about Redline lately, often recommended for my Charger.
I have used Amsoil signature synthetic oil since 1979. Amsoil signature synthetic is the best. Period for all engines, transmission, rear ends and more.
I would certainly use Amsoil motor oil if it weren't so expensive. I agree, "You don't have to wonder why"... LOL
But I will tell you why: Most consumers are budget-conscious and price is usually a major factor in the decision-making process. The cheapest Amsoil motor oil spec'd for my vehicles -- the "OE" line -- is $7.75 per quart. I can get Mobil 1 for under $3 per quart after rebate. Most recently, I purchased Pennzoil Ultra Platinum for $1.40 per quart after rebate. Yes that's right, PUP for one dollar and forty cents per quart. These Mobil and Pennzoil rebates happen several times annually. This means, so far, I can rely on this very inexpensive source of quality motor oil that meets all specifications and requirements for my vehicle. These oils may not be quite as robust as Amsoil. But I drive about 10,000 miles per year, and at a reasonable oil/filter service interval of 8.000 miles, I see no reason to use Amsoil motor oil, and absolutely not at 2.5 times (250%!!) of the price of Mobil 1 and Pennzoil Platinum. No thank you.
Amsoil, bring down your motor oil prices so we can have a relationship.
Anyone who waits 25,000 miles between oil changes is nuts no matter what oil you use. Oil gets dirty fairly quickly in older engines and that means friction. Do you really want dirty oil in your engine for 25,000 miles to save a couple of bucks? Any brand that meets the SN standards no matter what the price is fine. Pay half the price of Amsoil and change it every 7500 miles and you get better lubrication and removal of sludge.

Amsoil is cheaper than all your examples.
Using only their spin on filter with their oil you can go 25k before changing it.
Add on their bypass filter system then you only change when the lab report says to.
100,000 miles is nothing when using their system.
Tested at 1 year or 25k mile interval is how you do it.

30 years ago it cost more than $10,000 to do an in-frame overhaul on a Cummins NTC series engine, which was the most popular engine in OTR trucks. Over The Road. trucks plus lost income while that truck is not hauling freight.
No owner is going to gamble on destroying a high-dollar engine by using cheap oil or running oil that long without proof.

My k24 purrs like a kitten with Amsoil 0w30.Took a look inside while adjusting my valves. Cam lobes are spotless.200k km and the engine runs very well.I am a believer after so many years. Boggles my mind why people purchase a car worth 30 k or more and then cheap out on oil,the lifeblood of the engine.Regarding redline. It isn t really meant as a daily oil,especially in cold climates.Redline serves a purpose mainly for motorsport.That s what it s made for.I think it s also meant to be changed much sooner after really intensive use.The fact that it doesn t flow well when cold is not relevant for racing usage.

I began to use Amsoil about a year ago. And I have had nothing but good results.
I bought metric synthetic for my Yamaha R1. Best decision I ever made just saying....... Amsoil is number one it beats the shit out of royal purple. These videos on UA-cam that show it does not flow. Amsoil bet royal purple new and cooked on cold glow testing!
Great video now if only amsoil would put the damn product on the shelf instead of making people jump through hoops to find it locally.
Ask yourself why, if the product is so amazing, is it not generally available at popular retailers? I do agree that the lubrication products from the major companies, like Mobil, Castrol etc, are not as good as they are claimed to be, and in many cases are much inferior to some of the smaller independants, but Amsoil is mostly marketing hype. Check out a web site called Bob Is The Oil Guy, or BITOG, for actual facts and user experience. Also check out Lubrizol, the industry reference for information. Any engine oil that can be proven to meet the prevailing API standard, currently SN, will be more than adequate for the vast majority of applications. You would be surprised to find that many highly vaunted oil brands do not meet the latest SN standard, and are still been produced to SL or even older!! Personally I use Redline, Penrite and Motul. Never had a problem with any of those in 2 and 4 wheel applications, from road to race.

Back in the 1960’s our unit in the Army was selected as part of a test to use Amsoil Synthetec for one year and use the previous year as the base line. After one year our repairs were down, use of gasoline and diesel was less. About 6 weeks after the test ended we we instructed to use up all convention lubricants as they would be replaced with synthetics. The Army’s reason given to us was it lessens the dependence on foreign oil and longer service intervals and reliability! The cost we were told was about 10 times the cost of petroleum based lubricants. They proved it really was a fiscally sound reason to change over as the vehicles required less to maintain and the life expectancy was extended as well as readiness was increased. Yes, it was Amsoil in a different packaging! Basically Amsoil has been around for some time! It’s not a “Johnny come lately” to synthetic oils! It’s still expensive, but I may be wrong it sure works for me!

i run amsoil in my 2 stroke dirt bike known as the yz125 and i used to think amsoil would blow up my bike and wear my top and bottom end due to its low oil ratio recommending 50:1 but when i tried it my piston comes out looking almost brand new like ive only gotten 10 hours on my motor when i change the ring at 30 hours. ive used different oils and my piston had to almost be changed by every 30 to 40 hours now i run it 30 hours or watch closely at the compression to drop 5 psi i think it is and then i change ring and gaskets and run my piston another 30 hours.(60 in total) the oils i ran before was motul,caster927,and lucas(all ran at 32:1) and so far the amsoil dominator oil is my favorite. i also used the interceptor oil but switch to dominator and felt a slight difference of my bike having slightly more power band. right now i just put there transmission oil in it to. i only have one ride and look forward to seeing the results when i chngge the oil. usually in mx (motocross) we change our oil either every 8HRs or 4 to 5 rides. i dont have a hour meter on it YET so i go by rides and if im lazy ill just add another ride and change it then.lucas is a ok oil i never got to see what my bike looked like bc twice my bike blew up before i got a chance to do a top end. caster927 is my second favorite oil and has the one thing i like more than amsoil is that classic 2 stroke smell you would get at a supercross or motorcross event back in 2004 before the 4T bikes ruined it XD,. now performance wise and this was back when i was a beginner rider 2 1/2 years ago i felt it ran good and never had issues but when it came to parts like my power valves,they where all gunked up.it is a non synthetic oil but i liked it. now motul i couldnt tell you i only had it once and thats what i used when i first bought the bike back when i didnt even know how a piston worked so i couldnt tell you if you asked but over all amsoil is my fav oil. this is a oil mixed at 50:1 and running 12,000 or 13,000 rpm correct me if im wrong but ive never had any issues or complaints with it. till this day ive yet to blow a topend from running it hard or had any gunk when it came to doing my topend or any problems with jetting the bike and it running too lean. its either perfect or slightly too rich but over all my fav oil for a 2 stroke dirt bike. i dont ride 4t dirtbikes and seen what it looks like so i cant say anything about it but it probably works just as fine as they do in your cars or trucks. overall i have no complains in it and if you have a bike i recommend it too

I’m going to try it. Every test, commercial, etc. that I look at for Amsoil seems to be the better choice of oil for my bike. I have a 2006 softail with 24,000 miles on it that runs great. I for one agree that Harley Davidson‘s oil is crap. I want something better And this gentleman’s explanation, whether or not he sells it or not doesn’t make a difference to me. He provided information that I needed to make my decision so therefore I’m going to go to his website and order some oil for my bike.

I just tried Pennzoil for the first time and I'm blown away how well it did on the tests in this video. And I feel even worse about my decades of using Mobil 1. I've had premature engine failures, and I was thinking that I was running the "best". Engines are soiled by Mobil 1 as proven in these tests and my real life failures.
All the charts you show were developed/performed by the University of Wisconsin and paid for my Amsoil. Where is the independent testing.
Outside of Colleges, Universities, Government agencies(?) ... There is no such thing as Independent Testing. Somebody has got to pay for the reseach, test equipment, studies. At each step; there is "potential" bias to be accounted for which may or may not be useful for one or all participants in the study.
Pure research is just as cost prohibitive as are marketing, advertising, business profits and losses.
Who do you think is going to PAY for this testing? Somebody is going to just up and do this for free? I sure wouldn't. Amsoil had to pay a 3rd party lab. And if those test results were fraudulent, those other oil companies could sue the piss out of Amsoil for fake claims. BIG TIME.
Of course Amsoil would pay for it because they have confidence and pride in their product. Other oil manufacturers don't want to pay for it because they know they cant beat amsoil.

My family owns a construction company, we used to get Quaker State oil in bulk . After a delivery of the oil one season, we started our oil changes. Everything we sent out locked up! They screwed up the viscosity and had to replace 5 engines in our trucks! Semi trucks! That’s when I started paying way more attention to my oil purchasing! QS did take care of the problem, with no battle! Thank God!
Just loss of 107 engine due to oil failure, unfortunately they didn't, keep the oil, but I have seen the pic's on my parts. I was using amsoil
I have a 2003 Ford Mustang and I started to put in Pennzoil Ultra Platinum after seeing the video from Project Farm, but since then one of my lifters has been making noise. I used to run Redline and never had an issue. Maybe the lifter is going bad, maybe not. I bought some Amsoil today and should receive it in the next week, hopefully. Hoping it clears up the noise.

I think I'm switching over to Pennzoil, I've been using Mobil 1 but Pennzoil seems to be a decent all rounder in these tests and is about the same price as Mobil 1. Thanks for the info really helped me make that choice.

@ he might have gone over the top there, but he's probably frustrated from all these people being assholes. the guy is making a video and presenting facts and he's not the only one, there have been many others that you can look up on here showing proof that Amsoil is the best. A lot of these other companies won't even provide any information at all. If you use Amsoil you can send it out to a laboratory and get it analyzed on your own, don't take their word for it. I have done that and I run it at extended intervals and the stuff works. the frustrating part is when people get on here and just start bashing this guy for no reason other than their feelings are hurt because their favorite oil isn't comparing favorably. Meanwhile, there is no proof behind it, just bashing.
I have mobil 1 annual protection. My 150k 99 escort has 9k miles on this oil change and the oil is still extremely clean, which means either the filter is in god mode, or mobil 1 actually has reduced wear compared to other oils I've used, and I've used and tested alot of my own. Ive changed oil numerous times and wouldn't mind testing amsoil but it is much harder to find. Not saying anything about it, but for now, I'm with mobil 1.

I've got a 2017 Ram 1500 with the 5.7. At 30,745 miles, I put in Amsoil Signature 5W-20. After 200 miles or so, the occasional infamous hemi tick went away on start-up. The truck has a bit over 36,000 now and not once have I herd it tick. Am I sold? Yep.
My Ram's Hemi tick went away using Lucas 5w20. IMHO.

Careful of that, to make Amsoil more available at stores like that, it's typically their cheap version and won't do much better than the compared oils. It's much cheaper and it is made with a cheaper base stock, which is why it's so "cheap".
Since Amsoil is not available in stores, just use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. You can order it through Walmart online. Very affordable, and is as close to Amsoil as you can get without paying the huge price.
How is it a huge price? Do you earn $7.50/hr? If you can't afford $60/yr for an oil change, maybe you should re-think car ownership. Stop being such a tight ass.
If you have to change Pennzoil more often, and Amsoil is proven via ASTM testing to be better, it costs more money to use Pennzoil and have lesser protection. Why are you so much against Amsoil? What is wrong with you?
You're not really saving money because with the amsoil you can extend the service interval. You are doing less changes so the price comes down for the Amsoil. If you become a preferred buyer on their website you can get 25% off , lowering the price even more. Pennzoil and all of those other well-known synthetics are already going to run you close to 10 bucks a quart anyway. Are you really saving money?anyway saving a negligible amount on an oil change doesn't make a difference to me, I want the best for my vehicles. I guess it's a difference in philosophy. I'm planning on keeping my vehicles and I want to maximize their longevity, so I will buy the best product available.
@@Marco-fi6gv I'm sorry, but there's no way I'm going to run oil in my car over 7,500 miles. I don't care what anyone says. Carbon build up and fuel dilution occurs, no matter what oil you use. Period. I've been tinkering with engines for years, and I personally change my oil every 5,000 miles like clockwork. I've learned enough to know what problems occur when oil is used for too long, even if it's the best on the market. No one is going to tell me it's a good idea otherwise. Even if you change Amsoil every 10,000 miles, it is still cheaper to use regular PUP, QSUD, or M1 synthetics, and change your filters frequently.

Ive been using Royal purple for awhile and its treated me well. The thing is, ive read that Amsoil is superior to RP and I'm always willing to try something better.
The thing that concerns me is that ive noticed with RP when I go to start my vehicle in the morning, the oil gauge shoots up to operating pressure super fast which is awesome.
Can anuone attest to Amsoil being able to do this? Ive heard cold starts are rough on engines and the RP seems to negate that significantly.

It was a good video I love Amsoil I just recently switched from Mobil 1 because someone started carrying Amsoil locally it's the only reason I never ran it that being said I have 200,000 on my pickup truck from Mobile One never had a bad oil analysis so maybe Mobil 1 does have deals with manufacturers to run their oil from the factory but I think their oil protects second best of any oil out there Amsoil is better but if you can't get it locally like I wasn't able to mobile one is the only way to go.

So, if you want to drive down to a Local distributor, pick up a quart or two in person ... its not that difficult.
Once I found a local shop (NAPA - shops sell Amsoil and most stock all levels of WIX filters too) I just call them up, see if they have the version (Signature) I want, have enough on hand -then tell them I'll do a "will call". Never have any problems. If they are out - they will usually have them in by the next day... or send me to pick them up from another near by dealer.
I guess I could get on the distributor list myself - have a side business for my local car nut friends... except, I don't really try to talk people into using Amsoil... I figure, if they know what they want, great - but I really don't like wasting time talking round and round in circles for those who want to be convinced.
It is what it is... It took me several years to convince myself that it was worth the price. No matter how many people told me about it, I still didn't budge - until I got a car, with an engine worth keeping...since then - I've been a believer.

I've asked auto parts stores to carry Amsoil. The managers told me that they don't want to sell long lasting oils that keep customers away from their shops. That's why they do not carry it. I've asked car dealers to do the same and they all bitch and complain about the same thing. One dealershop owner told me that Amsoil is awesome oil, but then his service bays would be empty. If people can order on-line Amazon by the BILLIONS, why is it such a big deal to order Amsoil products on-line? Instead of bitching about it not being in the stores, just order on-line like the rest of us.

I would just run supertech full synthetic in that thing.
Where most people screw up is the thicker viscosity oils do not pump as well as the thinner oils. This is what wears your engine out.

I asked Amsoil what base stock they used in their XL 100% Synthetic. They said they didn't know. They should know and they should tell you.
Gary, Amsoil XL and OE oils use Group III base stock. Since this is a standardized product, they buy it from whoever can give them the best price on the quantity they need. To that, they mix in an additive package they buy from Lubrizol. There is nothing wrong with this oil, but there's nothing really special about it.

@@saganworshipper6062 The oil I’ve been using since 2015 is German Castrol, which is sold at Volkswagen dealers. I pay $9 a quart for it. If you don’t like your local VW dealer, Mobil 1 is very good oil. Either one is cheaper than Amsoil and at least as good.

I use Amsoil in all my cars. Not only engine oil but in all moving parts. Transmission, and differential. I use there racing oil in my Mustang.

Then my car start to over heat cuz i overlooked the damn coolant. Tranny went bad, motor is on the way. So i learned, motor oil can not destroy an engine, cabs use conventional and last half a million mile.

That's odd. I've read many times that Amsoil buys their basestocks from ExxonMobil.......
In the world of big rig diesel motors, Mobil Delvac Super 1300 and Chevron Delo 400 conventional oils were the first oils to reach 1,000,000 miles before rebuild. And today, it's commonplace for diesel motors to exceed 1 million miles using conventional oils produced by Shell, ConocoPhillips, Chevron, ExxonMobil, etc.
I've seen the top ends of several Detroit DD15 motors, ran on Delvac Super 1300 conventional oil, at 50,000 mile OCIs, all have been spotless. All of the motors I looked at had over 750,000 miles on the truck's odometers.
I don't doubt that Amsoil is excellent, but it's price keeps me away. As an Owner-Operator I'm confident the big name conventional diesel motor oils perform incredibly well.
However, if you'd like to donate an OPS and 10 gallons of Amsoil, I'd be happy to give it a try in my Detroit Series 60!

I've used oil analysis as my guide for decades. While I believe there is no "bad" oil, Amsoil has shown to hold up exceptionally well past the 20k mile mark. Data doesn't lie

Exactly why I use AMSOIL Products on all my vehicles as well as Lawn and Garden equipment including bypass Generator, Snow-blower and air compressors. The ONLY company that reveals the imperical data specifications on thier products. I simply don't trust the competition no matter how big and how great thier advertising is because they won't give me all the details... Why would you call something "Full" Synthetic when it's not "100%" Synthetic? Why won't they tell us the efficiency rating of their air filters to include beta ratio and dirt handling capacity? It's just marketing bullshit! I can get these details from AMSOIL. There only goal is to be the best in every product line and understand there are enough people willing to pay for those products. And the funny thing is after discounts and bulk purchases it's not much more than the competitors products who won't reveal the facts about what your buying.

The only oil that comes very close to Amsoil now is Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. I'd like to use Amsoil for oil but its just so expensive ....is there anyway to get it at a competitive price to the Pennziol Ultra Platinum which I get for about $25 for a 5 1.25 gallon jug(5 quarts)? The cheapest I've seen Amsoil signature is $52 per gallon(4 quarts). My Tundra takes 8.5 quarts of oil so that would mean over $110.00 just for the oil each time.
I'm buying a new car and starting all over again with Amsoil oil. That way my car can run for a million miles without a worry. Great video!

It's impossible to know who's information to trust
no its not... go to a machine shop and find yourself a Bridgeport Lathe, put a piece of round stock in it... not get two other pieces of metal(matching), put 1 drop of amsoil on one and 1 drop of your choice of oil on the other.. Next allow the piece of metal to drag on the rotating round stock without pressure added pressure from you for 60 seconds, now repeat with the second.. Next measure the wear mark. Now get back on youtube and enter the data you collected.
Wear test isn't the only test. I won't overpay for amsoil I used mobil 1 in a highboerformance Trailblazer ss with no issues.

I just ordered 4 litres AMSOIL 4-stroke for my Yamaha 4-stroke. I tried AMSOIL on my old'92 phazer ll 2-stroke Yamaha, it still runs to date. Know your oil, because it can be a day of a ride, or no ride at all. I'm not a mechanic, but I know what I need for lubrication for motor. AMSOIL
So there's an amsoil here in my country which is the 4t 10w40 not the metric, and it cost 40 dollars a gallon. I used it on my yamaha r1, do you think it good for sportsbikes??
TEOST test second slide graph does not include Castrol performance from previous slide, which has performed ever better than AMSOIL, you are thus skewing the perceived performance of the brand
Good observation. However, you seem to be making a global judgement based on just one piece of information. The slide simply shows the most popular 3 debated lubes. While Castrol might do well on that TEOST, it falls well below the overall performance of Amsoil. Claiming “skewed” results is highly exaggerated.

But I think you are missing the big issue with engine oil: contamination dust, fuel, and other dirt.
and in the engine oil world, they usually say: that short OCI with cheap oil is a lot better than long OCI with premium oil.

I have always used Amsoil in my motorcycle but none of the shops near me will stock it due to terrible margins I would pay a tiny bit more if it meant my local shop had motivation to stock it.
I ran it in my Harley. Amsoil is far superior to the Harley oil in every way. I loved my Harley, so I ran the best oil in it. Now, I'm too old to trust myself. No, I won't get a trike.
The best oil is the name brand that's on sale. The rest is hype.
Rejecting empirical science. The typical emotional statement from an uninformed cheap skate. Meaningless.
I won't live long enough or know that my car will to use expensive oil that will last 2million miles when all I need is less than 500,000 if at that.
Just get an oil with the same SAE rating like SN and change it every 7500 to 10,000 miles rather than 25,000 miles. It's not smart to run dirty oil in an engine for 25,000 miles. Plus, that 25,000 mile hype doesn't take into account the difference between highway miles and city miles. You can't wait 25,000 miles if you mainly drive in the city.
Project Farm on UA-cam tested a lot of different oil brands and his conclusion was that Amsoil was the best.
That's what got me to switch. Todd is a good dude and a straight shooter. Any time I've bought a product based on his recommendations it hasn't let me down yet. If it's PF approved, I'll buy it.

It may - or may not - be better than, let's say Mobil 1, but 2-3 times price difference does not justify [potentially] marginal improvement. From my - VERY extensive professional as well as personal - experience, a well-made (ford, etc. do not need to worry) engine lasts virtually indefinitely even with regular (non-synthetic) oil.
