What oil filter do you use on your vehicle? Let us know in the comments down below and we may test it in a future video😉
I think it'd be nice to test some oem filters like the Toyota or Motorcraft. That and the Autozone filters since those are the most common where I'm from
You should test the k&n hp oil filter specifically. They are marketed as a better filter than the last k&n you tested.
AMSOIL
Mann, Bosch, Mahle or Knecht.
The best affordable is my moto. I've used purolator boss for 10 years. I'm amazed at 6 k miles how clean oil is. Nissan rogue
The purolator boss has good flow characteristics and exceptional filtering efficiencies. This is my favorite of the bunch.
Many people don't realize that Purolator, Wix, and many house brands (ie. Napa, Carquest) are all owned and manufactured by Mann-Hummel. So it makes sense that those 3 were very close to each other in most of the tests. The Purple filter was the only really different one.
Thank you for the info and for watching!
The royal purple ones are made by the same guys that make the Mobil1 filters, top notch stuff!
Wix was it's own company until recently
Is Mann-Hummel the German company that I heard bought Wix fairly recently? Probably is, because before the buy-out, Wix made oil filters for NAPA and several others parts store house brands........plus this new video proves they have the same identical components inside the filters. If this is the case, it's good to see Mann-Hummel is keeping up the quality of Wix filters. By the way: before the buy out, I had an Amsoil rep tell me over the phone that their own Amsoil brand oil filters were also made by Wix. Amsoil had only Wix and their Amsoil branded filters available to purchase on their website, and people are paying a little extra money for the Amsoil branded filter, which is identical to the Wix filter, lol. At least the Amsoil rep was being honest about answering my question.
I recently noticed that the Mobil 1 filter I bought recently looks identical to the Purolator "Boss" that I had on hand from last year. The old Mobil 1 does not look the same.
All 3 filters in the size that fits Baby hemi in Jeeps.
Up in the league with Project Farm with this level of comparison testing with better visuals. (I also recommend testing OEM oil filters, I know that Honda for example such as the A02 and 15400-RTA-003 have felt/cardboard end caps with no wire backing. I just checked the Toyota N1 spin on filter as well and it’s fairly rudimentary in it’s construction, at least in appearance)
Thank you so much Kevin. PF is amazing and very thorough. Glad you enjoyed our video, a lot of work goes into making them. Appreciate your support!
And torque test channel
@@BrandRanksSeriously though, please do oem stuff too.
High praise. Todd would be proud.
@@middleclassthrashoem vs different oil filters
Just barely watched the first video and thought, “man, I’d like to see the Wix filter tested.” Then bam. This video is 3 hours old. Awesome.
🤣🤣Glad the timing worked out. We've tested many other filters, but we're waiting on lab results. There are a couple of Easter eggs in the video showing others we are testing. 🧐 Thank you so much for your support.
Would love to see a Denso filter in here too! They make a lot of OEM filters for many manufactures.
👋 Thanks for watching and the suggestion, we will include several OEMs on a future video and at the end of the series, we will see which filter is the best. Thank you for your support!
@BrandRanks
It would be good to mention the actual manufacturer of the oem filters being tested and test the manufacturer's matching filters along with the oem. A lot of people don't know that oem's don't build filters but they do spec them. The manufacturer filter doesn't always match the oem filter exactly.
😂no... I know people that work at denso
it's Denso.... it's solid
@@BrandRanks Thanks, but you better thest the oil filters which are having the steel particles in the thread from the factory thread-cutting , because the factoryes did Not properly clean the threads !!! I have tested the Mann, Mecca, Wix, Filtron, Fram, and some other , But they Alll had the metal particles in the thread, which Are Directly sucked into the engine and into the bearings, thus Damaging the engine !!! ! !!! The Only Two filter factoryes , which did Not have those steel particles in the thread, were old Mahle filters (because some new ones are from China) , and Bosch filters . Now, please, do some more testing, 2 Disclosure this Deception of the Bad factoryes , which most of the mechanics are still Not aware of it. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your support!
You guys deserve many more subscribers. Your testing rig and methodology is impressive! 👍🏻🖖🏻
Thanks you so much for your kind words! Comments like yours keep us motivated. Thank you for supporting our channel.
Really upped the game this time. Though would still like to see the used oil test again. Real oil with real particulates.
Too goofy
@@heartysteer8752 I really like the standardized particulate. It means they are able to repeat the same test without worrying about differences in used oil.
Why? This entire channel is a rip off of Project Farm. Nothing original
I think getting oil to the engine is key so flow rate is super important, and getting that oil cleaned comes in second for my priority list. Some oil is better than no oil.
Agree, some flow is better than none, that's why most filters have that bypass valve so your engine won't starve. Again, thanks for watching appreciate your comments.
Really great video. I like the amount of effort you guys put in to ensure the testing was as accurate as it could be with the equipment you have. The subtle humor was a great addition too. Keep up the great content. I've been using Wix XP for years.
Thank you so much Jim! Really appreciate you words and support. A lot of effort went into this and it means a lot to hear you enjoyed. WIX XP did pretty well. As long as you keep up with maintenance, all these filters are great.
I work a retirement job in an auto parts store and often recommend "Project Farm" and "Car Care Nut" (for Toyota people like me). Now I have added this channel.
Awesome updates to the rig and procedure. Really appreciate getting to actual filter performance - in particular particle size filtration efficiency.
Would love to see Amsoil, Napa Gold (or WIX equivalent), AC Delco Ultragaurd Gold, Purolator One next. Plus would be nice to see a repeat of Fram Ultra Synthetic, Mobil 1 and K&N.
I’m sure this testing already takes a lot of effort but repeatability would be interesting (both for skid and between different filters of the same brand).
Keep up the great work. You guys will be huge.
Thank you so much for the kind words. Really appreciate you writing this. We are going to be releasing several videos with several filters so make sure you have that notifications turned on so you don't miss them!
It's almost unbelievable how good this video is for the sub count. I've always wondered what makes a "premium" filter more expensive and I'm really impressed that the Purolator was able to filter out the most particles while still being the least restrictive. That's a big win in my book.
Thank you so much for the kind words! Yes the Purolator was impressive, still tops the chart even after two more videos. Make sure to go check them out.
I switched to the mobil 1 filter in your last video and would like to see that one tested on the new rig. Thank you for the quality videos. You guys deserve more subscribers!
i think the Mobil 1 and the Purolator One are basically the same filter.
I've always used mobile 1, been getting 500k miles out of my CJ-7 engines
@abraham3981 no they are not even close to the same. Mobil One oil filter is synthetic blend while Purolator Boss is fully synthetic. Mobil One is rated for 30 microns and Purolator is rated for 20 microns. Smaller is better.
That being said I personally have been using the Mobil One oil filter for 20 years or more now. It is a great filter, but not the absolute best.
@LeadStarDude I was comparing the Mobil one to the Purator ONE not the Boss.
@@independentthinker8930
258? 👍🏾🇺🇸
Great video! Never thought the Purolator would win since I've always found it to be a reasonable cost for my Acuras. I'm surprised you didn't include the Mobil 1 since it won the last competition though. Either way, great job on the video!
Thank you so much for your kind words. As you saw, we made a lot of changes to the testing procedure to ensure it is repeatable. We will be testing the Mobil one and other in future videos and at the end we will see, which one wins!
I've been an oil and filter nerd for 25 years. Keep it up and more videos coming!
Wow... This is awesome! Thank you so much. You have no idea how much it means to us. Your support is greatly appreciated! Thank you thank you thank you! We will definitely continue with the testing.
This is exactly how oil filter tests should be. There are hundreds of sites that just cut the filter open and say look it doesn't look good so it must be a bad filter. You guys actually put science behind your tests.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Really appreciate the support.
Dude, where has this channel been all my life? I love drinking moderately while geeking out on things well beyond the point of being practically applicable to my life. This channel checks all those boxes quite well for me. easily one of my top 5 favorites now. Wix XP? ITS FOR ME!
So glad to read this. Made my day! Appreciate your support immensely and so glad you enjoyed. Hope you have a great day! -JP
Based on your previous oil filter test, I'd like to see where the Mobil 1 would rank among these filters. I've been using either the Mobil 1, Wix XP, or Purolator Boss. Consider doing an oil test too. Great job!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed. Agree, like you saw we changed quite a bit, so for fairness, we will be retesting the mobil 1 and many other filters so we can have a final tally of the best oil filter. make sure to subscribe so you don't miss it. Thank you again, for the support.
Mobile 1 and Bosch.
I am a Mechanical Engineer so I absolutely love your methodology. But I do feel like there is a trade off between flow rate and capacity/performance. What I mean is that I think that a more restrictive flow rate filter media will usually by nature give a higher capacity and a better performance. So considering that if, IF, you consider all four tests have an equal weight you can then add the results together, and the Boss comes out on top with a score of 7.
You are obviously more experienced with testing than I am, so please don't hesitate to respond to my 2 cents worth.....LOL
I also appreciate the tear down and review of all the filters and I agree that it is also an important factor.
Awesome a fellow Mechanical engineer! Yeah there is normally that trade off, but in our FRAM video we found that filter material is also very important, cellulose tends to be very reatrictive and you can get a better filtering performance and better flow with synthetic media. Thanks for watching and supporting our channel! And yes the Boss would come on top actually after all the videos we've done so far they still are on the top even with a 50 percent weight on filtering performance.
Thanks for the response!! Very interesting. I didn't even think about weighting the different results differently, but that is a great point. And it was just my 2 cents worth that I weighted them the same. That sounds like pretty conclusive data. Can I assume that ranking is also compared to your other video with four other filters tested the same way?
I know this is a totally different test, but is there good way to test motor oil?
Again, I so greatly appreciate your testing methodology. There are so many auto part consumable products tests on here that make little sense, but your makes total sense and was a great and interesting watch! I will be watching more of your videos, Thank-you!!!
Sheepish grin...LOL.....Today I changed the oil filter on my 2006 Honda CR-V and installed a Boss based on some other (decent) reviews I watched before yours validated my decision.
Awesome work. I use purolator Boss and Wix. You all confirmed my purchases. And also to never buy Fram or ROYAL Purple. Keep up the great work.
Thank you so much Matt! Your support is much appreciated and glad to be of help.
the sense of humor and good info from these vids is too awesome, thanks!
Thank you so much for your support and watching. So glad you enjoyed!
This is very useful -- I like how much effort is placed into the testing methodology!
Please keep testing a wide variety of filters from many manufacturers with this new rig -- like Mann, Hengst, Denso, K&N, Fram, Amsoil, etc.
Thanks for all your hard work!
Thank you so much for the kind words. Really appreciate it. It means a lot to hear than the work is appreciated.
Great video guys! Would love to see a comparison of OEM filters such as Motorcraft, AC Delco, Toyota, etc compared to the top performing name brands.
Thank you so much @vg3430. Lab tests are underway for several OEMs. Thank you for the suggestion and the support. As a small channel, it really means a lot to us!
Yeah id love to see the AC Delco one specifically, ive always heard good things so thats what ive always used.
It is said frequently that engine wear is due to particle sizes less than 20 microns, as they are small enough to fit into engine clearances (this is easily searchable online). These are the hardest particles to filter out. If you could point this out and maybe test for these smaller particles then your videos would be even more helpful in the future.
Personally I have been running Fram Ultra filters as they have tested well in independent tests, and their stated efficiency (filtering ability) is the best I can find at 99% at 20 microns. But Fram has recently changed the construction of the Ultra filter and I do not know if it is as good now as it was before.
There is a new Fram Endurance that states is for an even longer OCI of 25,000 miles, but I have seen no independent testing of this model.
Recently I have been buying Champ XL filters from RockAuto as they are cheap and manage to have the same high efficiency ratings of 99% at 20 microns, they seem like a bargain.
If you guys could test these filters, and any others that you find with good efficiency ratings it would be very helpful. Testing filters whose companies state up front that that they are not the best in filtration (with stated lower efficiency ratings) and quality is not helpful when we are trying to figure out who is the best. Thank you for all the work you have done to improve your testing and I eagerly look forward to your videos in the future.
Hey Morris! Thank you so much for the kind words. We left a couple of easter eggs throughout the video of oil filters that we are currently testing and at the end of the video you can see a sneak peek of the Fram endurance. Next video will be an all out test on the FRAM filters so we can compare to these. I personally run the FRAM Ultra and have had no problems so I get where you are coming from. Thank you for all the support. Hopefully these videos do well so we can continue to make more videos.
he didn't tell us where to buy that 10 micron filter
Northern tools... But not meant for engine oil only hydraulic oil, plus the thread on that is enormous.
You can also check out diesel fuel filters like for semi trucks or aftermarket pumps like AirDog and Fass. Donaldson P551315 is 5micron at 98%. Wix 33528 is 2 micron at unknow %.@@BrandRanks
Great video. You know what would be cool. A low budget shootout. Like if I want to spend $5-$7 on a filter not $13-$17 what would I buy. Your testing would be super helpful. Maybe Wix standard, PL standard, maybe OEM like Honda or Ford Etc. Just a thought. Thanks for the hard work.
This testing was definitely more thorough and scientific!
Now we will need to compare the results of this video to the filters used in the other video to have a real scoreboard going.
Nevertheless this was a great video and I look forward to more in the future!
Thank you so much for the kind words. Appreciate your support immensely. Given we changed several things in the rig and the testing method, we will be testing some of the ones from the first video as well as many other filters in future videos. Again, thanks for your support
Sure, more scientific; however, I'd still like to see the used oil test kept. Real oil with real particulates, not lab dust. Used oil is not going to have the same characteristics as new oil. And the metal particulates are going to have differing shapes and profiles than lab ground and graded dust.
@@heartysteer8752 what you're saying sounds good.
But if the filters fail using industry standard dust (that is designed to mimic the charactistics of typical particles)
Then I don't see how using "real world" examples would show anything more conclusive than what has already been shown.
Due to the fact that actual engine particulates break off at different rates (and shapes as you said), there's no way to duplicate the same test using the same amount of "real world" debris.
The laboratory dust allows tests to be more consistent between filters.
Otherwise the results could be skewed based on what kind of particulates were used for a particular test.
I think these results are more useful than the random results that can be generated by "real world" examples. 😁
@@heartysteer8752 It's funny - some people just don't realize how ridiculously stupid they are - the "lab dust" is literally made to model differing shapes and profiles, that's the entire point of the "lab dust". Also, if your engine has big enough particulates where the shape actually matters then *you have far bigger problems* then your next oil change.
cdn.standards.iteh.ai/samples/63386/9a1bcaa0d6df4330b7b4dd7af9cbda75/ISO-12103-1-2016.pdf
I have been using wix filters for 8 years now. I used to use fram until I watched a video comparison, your video proves the point of the previous one.
Thanks for watching, we will be testing FRAM filters soon.
Awesome video! Would love to see the filters from the first video re-tested with the new rig!
Hey Michael, yes we will be testing the mobile one fram and KN along with Many others. We will be doing a video series. Next video will be FRAM. Thank you for the support.
And would like to see the used oil test again. Real oil with real particulates. Not lab dust.
@@heartysteer8752 The "lab dust" is a far better test, there is a good reason he stopped using the used motor oil - the ISO standardized dust is controlled and the contaminant size follows a set standard (which you can look up), there is no physically possible way to create a whole bunch of the exact same used motor oil to be compared back and forth - this is because the contaminants in used motor oil are going to vary on driving conditions, oil temperature, settling, additives, engine state, intake air quality, etc. Using ISO standardized dust eliminates those concerns and gives you a far more useful baseline to compare against, you just can't have any control with used motor - this leads to bad data.
TL;DR - Relying on used motor oil to monitor contaminants and filtration capacity is like relying on your finger instead of a thermometer to tell what the temperature is outside.
THIS is how you do an oil filter test! So many people think cutting open a filter and looking at the number of pleats is a measure of quality but you guys do actual, valuable tests. Thank you!
Thank you for the support and for watching!
One thing I consider with my filters is the check valve strength. I use an oil accumulator in my system and I need it to not leak back when pre-oiling the engine. My cheap OEM filters performs WAY better than much more expensive ones.
Maybe as a future filter test you could test the results of the STP Extended Life S45008XL and the PPE 114000650 for those of us running the 2.7L Turbo-4 and 3.0L Duramax? They're both replacements for the wimpy AC Delco PF66 filter. The STP goes for about $10, is rated to filter 15 microns and has a built-in bypass valve. The PPE filter is rated for filtering 10 microns, has a built-in bypass valve with a magnet and is physically larger offering more oil capacity. But it goes for $27-$30 depending on where you buy it from. I have the PPE filter and am giving it a try for my next oil change. But if it doesn't work out I'm looking at the STP as another offering to try. :)
Man I always forget I'm subscribed to this channel, but happy every time a video comes out. Very proud to be considered a day 1. Yall deserve every bit of a million or more subs in the future. Good looks.
Hey Ozzie! So glad to see this comment. Appreciate your support from the beginning. Glad to have you with us on our journey! Hope you have a wonderful day!
Wix also makes Orillys house brand Microguard filters, same filters but about 30% less expensive. Microguard Select are Wix XP. We have used Microguard for years on a fleet of 14 trucks plus personal and employee vehicles. The cold fluid restriction shows why you still need to regularly change engine oil and not go 15k or 20k miles, it can cause the bypass valve to open sending unfiltered oil though the engine so you want good clean oil. Even more with some people who think heavier oil is better, recommends 5-30 but they use 20-40, causing excessive drag hurting power and gas mileage. Plus possibly overloading the oil bypass valve causing high oil pressure at higher rpms when not warmed up.
Agree oil should not go that long without changing. Thanks for sharing and watching
Do an updated one with Frame, Mobile 1 and K&N! Best video on the Internet. Informative and not annoying. Thanks
Thank you so much for your support! Yes, this will be a video series and we are currently testing many oil filters and at the end we will be able to compare them all.
@@BrandRanks Cool, you guys will be up there with project farm in no time!
Thank you so much for the encouragement and support!
It's a fringe case most likely, but another thing to keep in mind is that not all bypass valves are created equal. I know the Mopar filters for the Viper specifically have a higher pressure bypass to keep clean oil flowing longer.
Love the testing guys. I’m subbed. Can’t wait to see what the Orange can does and please put it against the standard Wix. Also the OEMs like Honda/Toyota/Ford

Amsoil is most definitely on our list for this series. Thanks for watching!
Loved the black eye after using the buddy's toothbrush to clean parts! Excellent production values on the tests.
Great video. I would have like to see the tests completed with several of each filter brand, just to remove any production discrepancies.
I do industrial hydraulics, for us 15 micron is the testing particle size which has a limit of 20 counts. We use 5 micron filters to do a flushing loop to clean the oil and will let it run until the fluid has had a minimum of 50 passes through the filter.
Nice! You were very thorough with this test.
Thank you so much! It means a lot that you enjoyed
Excellent filter tests! Thank You! I've only owned old toyotas & hondas with high mileage but I've ran Wix XP for the last 5yrs, and they seem to run very well with those high mileage cars. I still change the oil every 5k mi. regardless. Keep up the incredible job! We appreciate all Your efforts!

Please consider adding Baldwin oil filters to your future testing. Many fleets run Baldwin. From what I've seen, they are constucted very well.
Thanks for the suggestion! Planning on testing it soon. Appreciate your support!
Have used Baldwin for years for personal and race car
Nope junk
Donaldson Blue is a synthetic media filter as well. They don't build those for light duty applications but they do build them for some diesel pickups. It would be interesting to see how the standard Donaldson filter would match up to these synthetic media filters. Donaldson builds a top notch filter.
Hey, Thanks for watching! We looked up Donaldson filters, but where unable to find one that was a similar size/replacement, so it would not be a fair comparison, but if videos do well, maybe we make a series on just diesel and heavy machinery oil filters. Thanks for the suggestions!
The best filter company no one ever heard of
@wallacegrommet9343
Donaldson is a huge company. Look it up. They are very well known in the ag and industrial world. The Donaldson Blue line, synthetic media, is mostly found for medium and heavy duty applications. The standard Donaldson line covers most everything. In ag, industrial and heavy truck, the majority of oem air filters are Donaldson. In ag, and I believe in industrial, many of the oem hydraulic and fuel filters are Donaldson. You can find the Donaldson logo in small print on a lot of these filters. I doubt if any other company exceeds Donaldson's filtration capabilities.
I would like to see an oil filter test with race filters (Moroso Racing, Wix Racing, Fram Racing, Ford Racing AND the Wix XP as the “standard” filter for comparison.
Thank you so much for the suggestion, we will look into it. Appreciate the support!

See my Boss vs Tokyo Roki post. Your driving pattern may be different from mine but my UOA's showed no difference in my Subaru.
I just tried my first AMSOIL filter along with AMSOIL signature series 5w20. Sounds very good combo.
We need a graph of allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the filter you guys tested.
Once we finish the oil filter series we will. Thank you for your support.
In case anyone's curious, the vendor for the dust doesn't seem to publish their prices but the current price for medium test dust standard reference material direct from NIST is $549.00 for 20 grams. For reference, this is almost exactly half the price of 170 grams of NIST peanut butter at $1,107.00.
And, yes. NIST standard peanut butter is a thing. And, yes. It is my preferred reference point for pricing.
Would love to see the original filters retested on the new rig so we can compare. These videos are exceptionally good!
Thank you so much. We will be resetting some of them.

I worked at Wix in Gastonia,NC, 40 years ago in the Information System Department. That made filters there and Dillon, SC. Back then, they made filters for Wix, Napa and Purolator. They also made many other brands. Always been a quality product. Today not sure on the Purolator, but still think the Wix and Napa are still being made there.
Agree, many are made by the same manufacturers. Thanks for sharing. Appreciate you watching!
Sad to here the Gastonia plant is being shuttered.
This is awesome! Been looking for information like this for years. Subbed and shared.
It'd be nice to see a common Motorcraft filter like an FL-400s or an FL-910s. I pretty much run Motorcraft filters on just about anything I can get them to fit on even my lawn mower.

Great job guys. Thanks for all of your efforts. You've earned my subscription. I look forward to seeing more tests. Maybe Napa Gold vs regular Wix vs similar competitors.
Thank you so much. Glad you subbed! Your support is extremely appreciated. We will definetly be testing those!
This is something to think about the new Silverado pickups when the 5.3 engine and very high oil pressure and 8 quarts of oil these are very fuel efficient engines the oil is ACDelco as well as the oil filter and 20 weight oil
Terrific testing. I use the Motorcraft FL910S oil filter which is the OEM equivalent to the 4 filters you just tested with your 2.0 test rig. It would be wonderful if you could include the Motorcraft FL910S oil filter in your next test as it would build upon the work you just did. Plus it is what people would naturally look for as a comparison.
Thanks!
Thank you so much! Yes currently planning on testing the motorcraft. Hopefully this video does well so we can fund it. As a small channel, we have a very tight (non existent) budget🤣 Thank you for your support!
I love this. But I'm in Australia and never seen any of these brands in my auto shops

This series is a real service, thanks you for your service. I’d love to see the top aftermarket up against all the major OEM, may be tough with your rig
@mikechristensen1285, comments like this one mean a lot. We plan to test OEM filters soon. Thanks for watching and keep an eye out for that notification!
Great info! Well in the last oil change in my '22 Subaru Crosstrek running Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30 and a Fram Ultra oil filter. I did an oil analysis/particle count with Blackstone Labs. Here were my results. I'd say the Fram Ultra is superior in terms of filtration which is most important to me.😎
>70: 0
38-70: 1.6
21-38: 16.2
Thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed! Great data to compare, appreciate you sharing. Let's see the FRAM results on the next video! Thank you again. Make sure to sub so you don't miss it. It also helps us a lot as a small channel.🙂
@@BrandRanks I've been subbed for a while now. Can't wait to see more videos! Can you also test an Amsoil oil filter next time, along with the Fram Ultra? Surprisingly the Amsoil filter is a little cheaper than the Royal Purple....😳
So glad to hear Steve. We are definitely testing an Amsoil filter, but that a little earlier in the process than the FRAMs, so we will release those first. Unfortunately these lab results take awhile, but luckily, we have kept everything consistent, so you can compare across videos.
Napa filters are made by Wix/Mann+Hummel. That's why they're identical, have the same part numbers, roughly around the same price depending on what version of the Napa filter you want to buy (ProSelect (lowest price), Gold (equal to a regular Wix), Platinum (highest price)).
Thank you for the info and for watching!
I’ve been using the Boss for a few years now. 👍🏼
It's almost criminal that a channel doing testing with this level of rigor has only 20k subscribers (at the time of this comment). Just added my own.
Thank you so much for watching! Appreciate you support immensely. Hopefully one day we will grow and we can dedicate ourselves to this to bring you even more content. Comments like yours motivate us and encourage us to keep going so appreciate it! Hope you a have great day.
Much awaited test video, it has been a while guys
We know.... Unfortunately, we are not able to fully dedicate ourselves to YT, we are a pretty small channel and not generating a lot. Hopefully one day it will be able to sustain itself and we can quit our jobs so we can make more consistent uploads. Thank you for coming back and supporting us thou. It is much appreciated.
Truth is, there are many vehicles out on the road that don't get their filters and oil changed regularly / use generic brands and as such and they have hundreds of thousands of miles on their engines. Enjoyed the video.
Keep it up boys, this channel is going to blow up.
Thank you so much! Appreciate the support immensely!
OEM comparison would be great to see compared to the top rated oil filter(s) tested so far. AC Delco, Mopar, Motocraft, etc. other than that, these videos are great. New subscriber earned!
Thank you so much. Glad that you subscribed, appreciate the support. We will be doing several OEMs!
Yes. But Mann-Hummel manufactures different levels of quality in their filters. Purolator stands out as The best.
Ya'll addressed all my concerns about your initial testing procedure. I feel like this time, ya'll are actually providing information that can help in picking the best option for an oil filter. It' doesn't look like you can go wrong with the Purolator Boss or either of the top end Fram's. They kinda fall in line based on their cost. I've been using the Fram Ultra for years, and you guys confirmed that it's a really good filter for the money.
Ive been looking for a oil filter brand to mate with my Pennzoil Ultra Platinum oil. Project farm sold me on the oil. You sold me on the Purolator Boss. Just order a couple for my next changes on my vehicles.
Awesome! Glad to hear that we were able to help. Thank you so much for the support!
I always check project farm before i buy anything! I too switched to pennzoil after his videos. I used to run wix, but theu are no longer american made, so im switching to purolator
In realistic, real world use, I think the Wix and Puralator filters are comparable. I understand in measured performance they differ but for those of us that actually do a good job changing oil on a regular basis, they both perform well enough to prevent particulate related damage to an engine. Lets face it, the most important part of filters (other than no cardboard in them) is regular, not extended, oil changes.
Agree, oil change intervals is way more important! Thanks for sharing and supporting the channel.
Would love to see a SuperTech (Walmart) filter tested. I believe they’re manufactured by Champion. So I’d love to see a Champion, K&N, SuperTech showdown to see if their cheaping out on the SuperTech.
Thanks for the suggestion. We will be testing several other filters.
That was a real good video. Dont change your style, you got that real world user feel.
Thank you so much for the kind words and for supporting the channel. It means a lot to read this
Great video again! Thank you. The filter performance of the OG Purolator (pure oil later) is amazing, as is the royal purple, but Purolator wins the other tests too.
Thank you so much for watching and supporting us!
Napa is made by Wix, so I'm suprised there's so much difference between the two. I use Mobil One filters and oil.
It could be due to many factors, one may be the bypass valve that we mentioned. Thanks for watching!
Actually Mann Hummel makes most oil filters for Wix, Purolator, Napa Gold, and MicroGard.
Before I watch this I want to say the boss is my favorite because of the material it’s made from and it’s strength. I’ve done thousands of oil changes in my career as a mechanic. I hope that I’ve chosen the best before watching the video results. Hopefully I was right
You were right.👍But there are still many filters to test so make sure to subscribe so you don't miss them thanks for watching!
Great effort guys! Much more scientific than previous one. This series is gonna blow up. It already is. When you run out of oil filters to test (yeah right), get into testing diesel fuel filters.
Anyways, can you please include a different length version of the same filter? Sometimes you can install a bigger filter than what car manufacturer tells you. I'll give you an example:
XG3614 and XG3600
Hey, thank you so much! Appreciate your support immensely. Those are Great ideas! Thank you!
Just subscribed. Love when people like you test product to see whats gimmicky and whats legit
So glad you subscribed! Thank you for watching and supporting the channel.
Thanks for taking this oil filter testing to the next level.
Of course, always looking to improve. Thank you for watching and supporting us!
I was thrilled when I saw this pop up on my recommendation. I see a lot of people wanting the Amsoil filter, but it’s literally the same as the royal purple. I cannot wait for the Amsoil fan boys to find out that their filter is restrictive. 🤣 Great video, can’t wait for the next
So glad the algorithm worked! Thank you so much for watching and supporting the channel!
O hell yeah! Love these vids!
So glad you enjoyed!!!! Thank you for watching and supporting the channel.
Very nice! Subscribed for future content. Would love to see MANN, Denso, Beck Arnley (typically some sort of OE), Mahle, Hastings…. I’ll think of another dozen as soon as I hit send. Going to watch the first video now to see how SuperTech did!
Hey! Thank you so much for watching and supporting. We will be doing several more videos with this new rig! Including several OEMs (as long as they are comparable)
This channel is only going to keep growing. Keep up the great work guys.
Thank you so much. It really means a lot to hear these encouraging words. Appreciate your support!
This is one of the very few channels that I've subscribed to all notifications.
That is awesome to hear @ryshask. Glad you enjoyed. We appreciate your support immensely!
AcDelco, K&N Racing & Moroso filters are what I use!
Thanks for the suggestions and for watching
For what it cost, change your oil every 3.5 / 5000 thousand miles it does wonders for the engine
Great to see this series is back! Keep them coming. Thank you!
Yes!! Thank you for your support! More on the way.
I’m glad wix done well I’ve used a lot of them over the years. I found your first filter test much easier to understand. Thx for the tests.
Great job on this video series, please do more like this. Hope to see the mobile one oil filter tested on this new rig. Also please do factory Oem filters from Toyota and Honda too!
Thank you very much for watching and supporting the channel. We definitely plan on testing some OEMs, unfortunately there are no cross reference Honda's for the filters we are testing and the thread is also different, so if this series does well and we get enough funding we may do another round of metric threaded filters/ racing filters/ by pass filters etc. But first need to grow the channel so we can fund it
@@BrandRanks Sounds like a plan!
1st video I see from you, 5min in and subscribed
So glad to hear! Thank you so much for watching and supporting the channel.
I have run only purolator filters for years
Great product! Thanks for watching and supporting the channel.
Thanks for stepping up your testing. I have been an AMSOIL dealer for 44 years. I like the fact that Amsoil shares test data. Understand your use of the different oils for cold and hot flow rates. I have no idea of the oil flow rate of IC engines, little 3 cylinder to big block V8. You may want to find that data to bracket your flow testing. Would like to see a Amsoil filter tested. Thanks for helping me to continue to learn at the ripe old age of 79. ron
