  • Marmalade pay tribute to "The Band" & "Crosby Stills & Nash", two big influences of the Marms during the "soft rock" late 60's early 70's period.
Again, part of a live UK TV Showcase in 1970. The original group were nearing the end here - they look a bit tired, and, frankly, a bit bored!!
Apparently they had to keep sound volume to a minimum as it was a tv studio performance - very early UK colour tv - all their earlier b/w Top Of The Pops performances including "Reflections" & "Rainbow" had been wiped, as a general policy of the BBC .

Incredible performance by one of the most overlooked and underrated bands of the era. Kids, this is how you did it back then...you plugged in and raw talent was either there in your face or it wasn't. No electronic digital hoo-doo to hide behind...The Marmalade was sheer, real, analog power and massive harmonies naked and out front. Read the lyrics to "Reflections" and be blown away by the intricacy of the structure and the fact that two very young men were capable of such depth of writing. It will never happen but this band should begin the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...say in place of Whitney Houston. Good grief. Take me back to my old home...

Incredible! Does anyone know how great these guys are? No auto-tune, live in your face TV cameras and they don't miss a beat or a bad note. True talent. RIGHT ON AND ROCK ON, MARMALADE!

They were not only versatile in their music but also instrumentally. Add Deans voice and what have you got? An incredible band. Made my teenage years with their music.

I think their drummer is really good. Love the colourful clothes, fashion, at the time.

Junior Campbell was probably one of the most innovative guitarist, at his time in Scotland and the UK, not recognised for his ability in the late 60 to 70 era. He made wonderful guitar solos in Marmalade songs.

Bored?. I don't think so. Brilliant stuff. Such an underrated band. Reflections is quite simply one the greatest pop songs ever written. And one of the most beautiful.

No - I dont think they look bored - 50 years on - this is brilliant stuff - polished and professional - all of them at their very best in my opinion.

The reason Marmalade affected me so much is in 68 I had lost my brother in 🇻🇳, Woodstock & who could forget the horrible news of the murdered of Sharon Tate. We had great music. It wasn’t about that Marmalade was from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 we here in America 🇺🇸 felt that music and their song “Reflections of My Life”, and the war in Vietnam 🇻🇳 all that didn’t make it home. The Marmalade’s I felt was just one of those groups in music that bings all those memories back over 50 years later. No music today compares in the music industry. I also felt that they didn’t truly get the recognition they deserved but I wouldn’t trade those memories for any of the memories in the 60’s. The Marmalades deserved more. But they left their mark on my life and I say thank you 🙏 to Marmalades

They really wanted badly to progress after the hit period but the audience wouldn’t let them, just wanted to hear the golden oldies. Guess they didn’t get the suitable gigs. This happened to quite a few other “pop” groups of the late 60’s such as the Tremeloes (changed name to the Trems for a while) Love Affair (changed name to LA for a while) but it never worked for them either. Check out the Marmalade album “Songs”, absolutely brilliant, criminally overlooked record.

I found Marmalade again on U Tube only about a month ago. I had forgotten how good they were and diverse. Reflections of my Life was the one I remembered the most and now I can't stop listening to it, as well as the live recordings. It puts today's music to shame.

They were one of the most exciting bands I ever saw perform live and not without huge credit to the singer Dean Ford who not only sang amazingly but also showed how much he loved performing. He still has the most incredible voice and recording a new album. Go Dean. You really are still an amazing voice.
