That said my biggest issue with the film is the attempt to weaponize the xenomorph. Sure you can drop a bunch of huggers on your enemies home world or base but after the xenomorphs wipe out your enemies you still have to destroy them, which would seem more difficult in most respects since they’re near perfectly adapted killing Machines that when destroyed produce highly acidic blood that destroys their surroundings
Well, we never saw the weaponization of the alien fully realized, partially thanks to Ripley's efforts, partially thanks to the Alien nature. Ideally, we would figure out a way to adapt to the use of Alien BioWeapons, probably through some sort of genetic immunization. Oh, are you a responsible, upstanding, tax-paying member of society that always votes WeyYu? Here's your immunity vaccine. Are you (not that)? Here's your fucking egg, sucker. The narrative of the trilogy is that Ripley stopped them from being able to do this.
Well thats where their orignial lifespan comes into play. Ridley Scott mentions in the commentary that the alien was dying inside of the shuttle at the end. Ofcourse the sequels went in a different direction. My headcanon is that the Space Jockeys/Engineers did design the Xenomorphs to die quickly but they mutated to bypass that limitation. Perhaps thats why they hibernate, otherwise they would die really young.
I saw AvP while I was living in Japan. At night, mobile billboards would cruise around Tokyo. Mobile billboards were just that, billboards mounted on a truck (Japan loves doing this) but the AvP billboard were a cut above the rest. They'd cart around these larger than life-size statues of the alien and the predator about to duke it out. It was awesome!
I love Sigorney Weaver as an actress. Especially when she sleeps above the covers... 4 feet above the covers. Lol. No but seriously, awesome review of an awesome series.
In the scene where his stomach explodes, they didn't tell the actors it was going to happen so the shock you see from them is 100% real. The one you see who passes out actually does faint.
Honestly my biggest disappointment with the AvP movie was the fact that it was present day instead of in the future and having Colonial Marines getting caught between the Aliens and Preds. That would of been an epic throw down on the big screen.

He forgot to mention that when John Hurt started seizing on the table before they changed to the special effects they didn’t tell most of the actors so when he was screaming, that was real terror. There was one mistake in Aliens, the soldiers asked if this mission was another bug hunt. Suggesting soldiers had been sent to kill something not human before. I always wondered what they had hunted and why it was never mentioned again.
Here's the biggest mistake about Aliens: its existence. I don't care if I'm in the super minority on this, but Alien never needed to be turned into a completely unnecessary franchise.
H.R. Geiger was a genius. His work turned my stomach by being too high quality. He has the distinction of being the only artist whose ever stylized one of my nightmares. I had a nightmare about having a painting of his that was cursed. What I actually saw was street lights in a parking lot but in the dream it was an HR Geiger style painting of a city with glowing dots that showed up when it was amping up the evil
One of the things that I love most about Aliens is that the space marines are depicted as actually being competent (much like Dutch's team in Predator). They are obviously outmatched and their fates are all but sealed, but atleast they put up a real fight instead of just being insta-fodder like most other soldiers in "survival" horror movies.
I can't help seeing Ridley Scott not taking anything seriously, making stuff up here and there and then struggling to keep a straight face at us for getting too deep into it.
I worked at pinewood studios in the stage that the queen alien from aliens was shot in. Sadly the stage was knocked down in around 2012 just before redevelopment and Disney moving in.

What I liked in Alien was that ominous sound of a heartbeat that plays in certain scenes which basically tells the audience that this character is about to die.
This is great! Freaking love this as much as your video game reviews James! Idk, just something about your delivery is so chill and laid-back, it's a delight to listen to 😊
That scene in AVP requiem where the maternity ward patients have aliens put in them is one of the most horrific and gut churning scenes I can remember. Those women were alive for their babies to be eaten out of their womb for an alien instead.
to answer your question about the Facehugger in Alien 3, it could've been a Royal Facehugger. It can lay two alien embryos in two host. One queen alien and one drone to protect the queen.
Alien is my favorite in the franchise. I just love the beginning of the film. All the sounds and ambience really immerse you and really lure you into the world of Ridley Scott.
The special effects in "Aliens" are absolutely incredible for 1986. That movie holds up today and then some. Has to be my favorite sci fi movie of all time.
BTW, Joss Whedon also created Buffy The Vampire Slayer (story of the original movie, creator and showrunner of the TV series) and Angel. Those were great!
I always thought the engineers messed up by creating an highly uncontrollable and resilient bio weapon like the xenomorphs. It makes their later characterization as this unknowable super-race a little silly

"It's not a sequel or a prequel, it's just a story happening in the same universe" ... Yeah... and given it's before Alien in it's own universe... it's a prequel... Prequels and sequels aren't thematic, they're stories happening in the same universe as another story. At best Prometheus is a spin-off...
Capitaine Creps Or a dragon, actually, just imagine how badass it would be if the xenomorphs impregnated other mythological creatures, it wouldn't make sense, but I would pay to see that sort of stuff

I don't remember the alien from Alien 3 coming from a dog. I remember it coming from an ox...and now I just found out why. I watched the director's cut.
And also as an extra "twist" in Alien: There was nothing to indicate that Ripley would be our hero. The strict no-nonsense lady that follows quarantine protocol is not who you'd expect to be the sole survivor.
Wait, I thought the the android was only programmed that IF alien life was found it was to be brought back at all costs, not that the entire missions was to get the alien eggs?
I'm almost certain everyone knows this. But metroid is Nintendo paying homage to Alien. Examples are both Ripley and samus having the DNA of thier antagonist fused with thier own. The creatures attacking the face. And the ultimate: Ridley from metroid is named after Ridley Scott

Terrible screenwriting and dialogue. One of many reasons Ridley appears to sabotage the franchise into Disney’s hands
Honestly, I could help but wonder if the crew in Prometheus was intentionally picked to be inept so when Old Weyland shows up, he and his men can easily get rid of the crew if necessary.
"1986 - Back when they took time to make sequels" Tell that to Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street.
I know right? Lol
What's wrong with f 13th 2 and nightmare 2?@@leonzaduncan2438
Friday 13th 4 and Nightmare 3 are arguably the best in the series
Really James?
@@NinjaKurosai Nightmare 4 is just as good as 3 for me. I feel like Friday the 13th got the shaft as a series
Rest in peace Bill Paxton, Sonny Landham and Kevin Peter hall.
And Bolaji Badejo
And John Hurt !!
And Harry Dean Stanton
And Yaphet Kotto
Much love James! You’ve kept me entertained for more hours than I can possibly count.
I'm glad Alien Isolation bumped the ever-descending Alien curve in a better direction.
The Alien 3 directors cut makes much more sense than the actual theatrical release.
It definitely redeems the film.
Not a bad film at all.
This was great! I got hooked on AVGN years ago and now Monster Madness is a household name during Halloween. I wish you guys would do more 12 Days of Shitsmas to watch with family and friends during Christmas. Doesn't have to be AVGN doing video games. Can be shitty toys too. Like the Christmas Wish catalogue episode. Awesome work guys!!
Man, it sure is entertaining to listen to you, James.
He forgot to mention that when John Hurt started seizing on the table before they changed to the special effects they didn’t tell most of the actors so when he was screaming, that was real terror. Also the guy in the Alien suit was seven feet tall, gangly, and African and Scott spent a lot of time showing him how he wanted him to move.
In the alien universe, the android series are in alphabetical order: Ash, Bishop, Call, David.
FUCK!! Awesome notice!
was* in alphabetical order... before Walter came along
@@MoshTMA I mean I might be f@cking crazy, but I think w is alphabetically after d, so it's still in alphabetical order. Or I could be completely wrong, the alphabet is hard 💁♂️
very funny, but E comes after D, and W comes after V.
@@MoshTMA can ` wait letter K .........
There was one mistake in Aliens, the soldiers asked if this mission was another bug hunt. Suggesting soldiers had been sent to kill something not human before. I always wondered what they had hunted and why it was never mentioned again.
Maybe Starship Troopers exists in the same universe. The movie is from '97 but I'm pretty sure it was based on a novel from the 60s
Maybe "bug hunt" is just a metaphorical term of a very easy mission
It’s not a mistake. It’s just letting you know these guys have fought aliens before, just not these particular aliens.
Here's the biggest mistake about Aliens: its existence.
I don't care if I'm in the super minority on this, but Alien never needed to be turned into a completely unnecessary franchise.
“Bug Hunt” is just a military expression for a dumb mission. Kind of like a Snipe hunt.
Alien= Best horror movie ever made.
Aliens= best action movie ever mad
Castle Both are second in those respective genres for me.
Best action movie ever mad? What the fuck
^ Right, we know Aliens is a masterpiece but atleast talk some sense
I love both movies, but can't agree with either of those labels
Well alien is my fav horror movie but predator is not only the best action movie but the best movie (in my opinion)
I love how James refers back to old 50s and 60s horror films. It's a great way to show where the Alien filmmakers may have been inspired.
You totally made me wanna watch Alien. Again!!
You totally made me wanna watch Alien again, mate, if anyone did...
I can't help seeing Ridley Scott not taking anything seriously, making stuff up here and there and then struggling to keep a straight face at us for getting too deep into it.
giorgiomx, that's what George Lucas shurely does.
Yes I also thought about him ha ha
I worked at pinewood studios in the stage that the queen alien from aliens was shot in. Sadly the stage was knocked down in around 2012 just before redevelopment and Disney moving in.
Ripley looks like Danzig in Resurrection. Can't stop seeing him watching it.
Haha yeah I always think the same thing
nah, she looked hot in that movie. loved her attiude.
I’m so obsessed with seeing James review stuff
If someone asks me: "So, what do you think of the Alien movies?"
Me: "I love those two movies!"
😁👌
Edge's Dragon alien 3 assembly cut is legit
Can't wait to see James' opinion on Alien Covenant... a huge letdown IMO
He liked AvP and also liked Terminator 5. His opinion isn't really worth much IMO. He probably loves Covenant unfortunately.
StrokeMeYouInsolentHumanCuzIAmACat His opinion is worth as much as anyone elses, by nature of opinions you cannot have a better or lesser one than anyone else
Ah, i thought the original poster said 'James Cameron's opinion :/ I do care what James has to say however.
StrokeMeYouInsolentHumanCuzIAmACat so it's unfortunate that someone enjoyed something that you couldn't?
What I liked in Alien was that ominous sound of a heartbeat that plays in certain scenes which basically tells the audience that this character is about to die.
"OOOOOOHHHHH GAAAHHHD!" -Lady from Alien
You mean Lambert?
+@@razburry8001 Thank you!
This is great! Freaking love this as much as your video game reviews James! Idk, just something about your delivery is so chill and laid-back, it's a delight to listen to 😊
“That’s predator. If you haven’t seen it... see it.”
Good idea.
That scene in AVP requiem where the maternity ward patients have aliens put in them is one of the most horrific and gut churning scenes I can remember. Those women were alive for their babies to be eaten out of their womb for an alien instead.
That must be the best and most memorable scene for that movie; I still remember that as well, and I too thought it was real horror.
That's some fucked up shit I like the most from that terrible movies. well represented of rape
They mostly come at night......mostly.
to answer your question about the Facehugger in Alien 3, it could've been a Royal Facehugger. It can lay two alien embryos in two host. One queen alien and one drone to protect the queen.
Alien is my favorite in the franchise. I just love the beginning of the film. All the sounds and ambience really immerse you and really lure you into the world of Ridley Scott.
The thing that I like about these reviews are that they don't feel hyperbolic and simple. Keep up the good work.
Please do a review of Alien: Covenant, James. I really appreciated this video and the new movie was much more intense than Prometheus.

P P
It's awful.
4:28 He did a cameo in Spaceballs as the same character 😂
We need a review of alien romulus right now!
The special effects in "Aliens" are absolutely incredible for 1986. That movie holds up today and then some. Has to be my favorite sci fi movie of all time.
Mike, I actually applauded when you said the best SXF are done in front of camera. From one film student and buff to another, quality vid bruv
Avp has the best looking xeno's up to that point. The under ice pyramid was cool. I think it's underrated.
Wish they hadve upped the rating though
"Increases her basketball skills"? Being a werewolf has that effect too! Have you seen "Teenwolf" (the Michael J. Fox movie, not the Netflix series)?
BTW, Joss Whedon also created Buffy The Vampire Slayer (story of the original movie, creator and showrunner of the TV series) and Angel. Those were great!
I believe Arnold’s arm is stuck in cogs at the end of T2. I always thought that was going to be the tie in to a third terminator.
You're description of Prometheus was EXCELLENT.
I always thought the engineers messed up by creating an highly uncontrollable and resilient bio weapon like the xenomorphs. It makes their later characterization as this unknowable super-race a little silly
I love the gloom of alien 3. When it snatched up the warden is one of my favorite images
jay yarbrough the movie was horseshit.
Thanks for the upload Mike! Absolutely stoked every time my notifications show a new cinemassacre video! Hey Mike, ever play XEXYZ on NES? Had the game as a kid and I've never seen anybody show it any love on UA-cam
Funny you ask that, I actually talked about it in an old Top 10 video I made. You can see it here ua-cam.com/video/bXWgk4ooE0Y/v-deo.html
Thanks for watching! -Mike
FLvol23 gamesack show on UA-cam
Hey Mike I saw that video a couple years ago when you made it! I guess I forgot all about you including XEXYZ because I just watched it as if I'd never seen it! Thanks for the reply!
kuantum ka thank you
One of my favorite games that use the xenomorph as an end boss is conker's bad fur day ........ I Wish James and Mike would do a review on it one of these day
Its been 90 days since I dicovered avgn
Ive been binging on evrything cinemassacre since
Keep up what is probably the best thing on youtube
You deserve the youtube oscar for your content
Keep up the awsome work
Ive seen prometheus loads of times and never realised it wasn't set on LV426
"It's not a sequel or a prequel, it's just a story happening in the same universe"
... Yeah... and given it's before Alien in it's own universe... it's a prequel...
Prequels and sequels aren't thematic, they're stories happening in the same universe as another story. At best Prometheus is a spin-off...
At best, its a piece of steaming shit
Except that the next movie just showed that it was a prequel
thats like saying any and every movie in comicbook universes are prequels and sequels to eachother.
@@davidigleniec2483 Yep. In other words , he's incorrect.
I would like to see what happens if a face hugger lay a egg in a T. rex
Capitaine Creps
Or a dragon, actually, just imagine how badass it would be if the xenomorphs impregnated other mythological creatures, it wouldn't make sense, but I would pay to see that sort of stuff
Capitaine Creps chickens.
or a squirrel
Would have to be a baby rex. But would be nuts. I like it, guy
Brilliant. Alien v Jurassic park. Write to speilberg immediately. Ugh.
Bill Paxton, the actor who has the 'game over' line, is the only actor to be killed by an Alien, a Terminator and a Predator.
oh man..oh man...this made 5 years ago but UA-cam just recommended it to me just today...but glad it did.
Awesome video, man....i really enjoyed watching this.
Thanks for making this, appreciate it...and you're funny without acting and saying funny shiet...lol...just stated a fact(s)
I love your videos. Every time you talk about a film, it's as if I'm speaking with my dad. You two are both a lot alike.
Directors Cut of Alien 3 is a million times better than the standard version
It's a masterpiece IMO.
Ross TheNinja A millions times better and yet still not very good
It's called the Assembly cut. The director David Fincher had nothing to do with it
There isn't a director's cut of Alien 3. Stop lying, please.
Ross TheNinja I wish they stuck with the dog instead of an ox. It seriously doesn't look ox shaped.
awesome good stuff thanks Mike and James
Thanks for watching! -Mike
Wacky-Alien32 Haha, that game was some fun shit. Especially with the expansions
Sign this petition or I'll follow you home and kill your dog.
I don't remember the alien from Alien 3 coming from a dog. I remember it coming from an ox...and now I just found out why. I watched the director's cut.
"what do you think of alien 3?"
"i love alien isolation!"
A3 is underrated
@@rufussamsquanch_6547 I kinda agree tbh
Alien 3 is a decent conclusion to the saga, give it the credits it deserves pls. Also Alien isolation takes place before Aliens :b
A3 was great. Alien Isolation is just A4
It's so interesting to listen to James. Good luck on 3 Mil Subs. been there since the day one
No you havent. I have
And also as an extra "twist" in Alien: There was nothing to indicate that Ripley would be our hero. The strict no-nonsense lady that follows quarantine protocol is not who you'd expect to be the sole survivor.
Wait, I thought the the android was only programmed that IF alien life was found it was to be brought back at all costs, not that the entire missions was to get the alien eggs?
Please do a play through of Alien:Isolation :)
James - I saw “Alien 3” in the theater as a kid too. My friend and I were so disappointed. I watched it again last night…still just an OK movie.
Holy shit James!!! You said Monster Squad...That brought back a lot of 80's memories... Thanks man
