Cool fact the guy who played Jason in part 4 is considered the Jason with the heart of gold. The scene with the woman practically naked on the boat actually had the director leaving the actress out in the cold. She complained she wasn't feeling well but he didnt care. Finally the actor playing Jason said that if he didnt lay off her he would quit leaving them half way in without a big guy to finish the Jason scenes. This made the director listen and go easier on her.
Pretty sure it was Ted White who played Jason in that one.
Whoa thank you for sharing that.
you got anymore of them cool or wholesome facts?
That`s all it takes to have a heart of gold?
That`s both pathetic and terrifying..
@@afrog2666 should be the norm, pretty unfortunate to think that it took the lead actor telling the director he would walk to ensure that actress' basic worker's rights.
Jason vs Michael : they just stand there on opposite sides of the street staring at each other for two hours.

This comment is seriously underrated !

So, a Twilight remake? One year necro FTW!
As a kid, I remember trick or treating and walking up to a house that had a strobe light in their front yard. I saw what I thought was a full sized Jason prop on their front porch, but then it started walking towards me. Each time the strobe would flash he'd get closer and closer to me as I backed away. Turns out it was a dad dressed up as Jason trick or treating with his kid, but I'll never forget the fear I felt.
I had something similar on Halloween when I was around 8 or 9. Except it was a guy dressed as Scream's Ghostface. Sitting in a rocking chair on his porch. I thought it was just a decoration. Walked up, knocked on the door and said Trick Or Treat. Suddenly Ghostface springs up out of his chair and rushes towards me. I naturally get spooked and book it off his porch, down his lawn and a few steps across the sidewalk. Ghostface easily catches up with me and drops a bag of microwaveable popcorn into my bag. Gives me a thumbs up and zooms back to his rocking chair.
That was a memory I thought I had forgotten. 😅
@@RobiticDuck that’s cool, too!😁👍

I dressed as Jason years ago. Felt so scary but it was awesome!
I love how he just walks up and just kicks over the guy's boom box
Guy: exists with a boom box
Jason: “The f*ck kind of movie do you think this is b*tch?!”
"Fuck this Boom Box specifically!"
Too many people to kill in a city, not enough time.
I guess Jason is mad at the MPAA for butchering him.
When i go past people walking around with speakers in their pockets or phones blasting rap music .........i remember what Jason did & i have to remind myself ......"I`m not Jason"
I like how Jason's skills as a killer kind-of evolves over the course of the series. In Parts 2 and 3 he's a bit goofy and you can tell he's more vulnerable and inexperienced, but by Part 6 onwards he's an unstoppable monster with much more confidence and intimidating presence.
Character development
Probably cuz hes A zombie with supernatural abilities and strength and not jst Human with Deformities.
Ofc hed be different
Kane Hodder knew what he was doing as he was playing Jason more than once.
I'll grant you Part 2 for your argument, but not Part 3. You should watch that again and note the differences in the character's body language and behavior.
@@zyriuz2 was going to say that be hodder
Fun facts about Tom Savini, he was originally supposed to be involved with the original Night of the Living Dead but was drafted to Vietnam where he was an army photographer which is where he got his inspiration for his effects. He had to photograph dead bodies in various states of decay and with various injuries. So when he has to do effects for movies he's really just recreating what he already saw in real life. Also because he missed out on the original he got the chance to direct the remake of NOTLD in 2000 where the MPAA struck again cutting effects to avoid an X rating
Night of the Living Dead remake directed by Savini was 1990 🙂

Jason runs as a human. Once he becomes a revenant he walks.
Thats how I see it.
Its reflected in the latest game too, certain jasons can run but the later ones dont except for 1 i think
@@oh-not-the-bees7872 parts 2, 3, 4 and 5 Jasons all run but all the others (6, 7, 8 and 9) dont, meaning that yes after Jason became undead he lost the ability to run
He ran in Freddy vs. Jason though i dont think they specify what he is then.
@@goodfilmsstudio9906 he's a Revenant a Spirit that seeks revenge
Freddy v Jason is in a realm of its own, with different rules
Jason actually does have an ongoing motive throughout the course of the franchise. For killing every body (besides seeking revenge on the death of his mother). He actually does have a trigger that sets him off. Sex and teenage hijinks. Jason blames those particular traits for his drowning.
>sex triggered him
Holy shit, Jason was an incel.

Well the kids (or young people) in the camp were responsible for his death and the employees of camp crystal lake didnt rescue him because they were busy making love. it does make some sence

OHHH. Jason is a fundamentalist christian! It all makes sense!
Just a thought on part 5... the killer is the father of a special needs child who gets killed from a lack of supervision. Seems appropriate to me sonce that's what happened to Mrs. Voorhees

I've always loved whenever James makes these funny noises. It's something I've always done myself whenever I'm watching movies or playing video games.
Fun fact: After Jason died, Pamela sabotaged the camp on several occasions, trying to get it shut down so no one else would have to die. Killing two people (the ones in the intro) was a last, desperate attempt to get the camp shut down, and it worked. If the camp had stayed closed after she started sabotaging it, no one else would have had to die, other than Jason.
Making sure nobody dies by killing people?
Why can't I think of a name? Earlier attempts at sabotage didn’t involve murder as far as I know. She still seems to have been enough of a nut to assume that ALL teenage counselors would be irresponsible enough to let kids die, so she thought the body count would be a lot higher than what she ended up with.
Casey Miller the driver at the beginning mentions fires and bad water, I assume those were her attempts at sabotage
Violet doing the Robot in her room is one of the best scenes ever filmed.

They made the same movie 9 times now that takes talent. Man I haven't laughed so hard in a while. I don't even know why it wasn't that funny. Just the way he said it.
Very Norm MacDonald kinda delivery, RIP.

I've heard it plenty, mainly from the debt collectors. I still owe 407 payments of $19.95 on my 3D TV. They broke my knees twice already but luckily I'm undead so that was more of a mild inconvenience then a serious injury.
Like he says in the video, 3D seems to run in thirty-year cycles. I guess this last one ran its course. 🤷🏻♂️
I saw this movie in 3d at the theater and had to laugh. There was a scene where the camp counselor was shot by an arrow and you could see the arrow sliding on a string in 3d.

I can relate. I was born in 1984 and sneaking into the living room to try to get a glimpse of Jason in action was tough, but when monster vision came along it was my gateway drug. Thanks Joe bob👍
I never understood the hate behind Freddy vs Jason from critics. Like do their brains not comprehend the fact the Freddy and Jason duke it out to metal music? It's a brutal, awesome fantasy that no one thought would ever happen. That's why it's one of my favorite movies of all time.
Freddy vs Jason was fucking dumb and should have been better.
Lowell Deepnya Like does your brain not comprehend that the focus was not on either Freddy or Jason? Not to mention the obvious bias towards Freddy.
I just wish it was darker of a movie. It was too goofy and had shitty high end actors for its time. They were teen idol actors, but didn't have great talent. Also....Kane Hodder...enough said. I'm not saying it was a bad movie...it's highly entertaining. It was written well enough to be great but the directer had terrible delivery.
@@jesselewis8247 Hate to make a sinking ship argument but what was intelligent about the 15 years of sequels that proceeded? It's a film called Freddy Vs Jason, that's kinda dumb from the get go no?
I personally didn't give a damn about the plot or the actors used. Jason and Freddy going at it is what mattered and while the film took a little too long to get there, the fight was awesome imho. Looking forward to Jason vs Michael Myers
I just had to say that yes, part 5 is cursed. I bought the movie on VHS when movie stores were getting rid of VHS for DVD. And this movie killed 5 vcrs before I had enough.

I've always liked part 7. It's more or less Carrie Vs Jason.
I did too...I actually thought it was because it was basically Carrie vs. Jason, that Jason probably showed more emotion in part 7 than he did in any other film, IMO.
Although the "hockey mask zombie" Jason was cooler, I personally think that the "burlap sack-wearing crazed woodsman" Jason was scarier. Anyway, it's nice to see these all together!
evanstone9 Yeah, sackhead Jason was a terrifying look
evanstone9 not really he looks like a rejected Klan member
@@theitfactorjameswheezer2852 Sackhead Jason reminds me more of the chainsaw miniboss(Dr Salvador) from Resident Evil 4.
The necronomicon was in 'Jason goes to hell' because it was originally planned for the Evil Dead series to be brought into Freddy Vs Jason, in a sequel if I remember correctly. With that movie obviously teasing Freddy vs Jason at the end as well, they were basically setting up a whole shared universe YEARS before Marvel was flooding the market.
I believe the exact idea was continued via a graphic novel with Ash Williams taking the protagonist role fighting against both Freddy and Jason, though I've never read it myself. Budget? Licencing? Those both seem likely, though maybe it could also be that Freddy Vs Jason was the more anticipated match up with two well known horror icons, with Evil Dead not being anywhere near as popular as either series at the time.
Wait, seriously? What's the name of the graphic novel? I fucking need that in my life.
I wished James mentioned that 9 and FVJ were graphic novels. Because part 9 at a stand alone movie, it didn't make sense to any casual watcher. But had they known that the Friday the 13th universe also shares the same Nightmare on Elm Street and Evil Dead universe. It makes sense why all the crazy shit can happen. Supernaturally.
Not only the Necronomicon, but the knife they use to kill him was also the knife from Evil Dead, the Kandarian Dagger. Which does explain why it's the only weapon able to kill him, since it's the only thing that can kill Deadites in Evil Dead with a single stab.
Wrong...it was in there cuz the shithead director was a fan of the dead movies, he did a tribute and cuz in his continuity butchering mind he thought it would be cool if jason was a deadite...watch a few documentaries.
they cant ther to old now
Freddy VS Jason had a budget of 25 million dollars and they spent 20 million on blood.
Makes sense. The makeup was cool though.
Damn it sucks how they censor so much of the kills when they put a lot of effort into them
that doesn't make sense, there lots of violent 80's movies
how about the fly? the blob? the thing? were any of those censored? if so, I'd hate to see what they looked like BEFORE
I totally agree
@@louche2388 they didn't want to fetishize killing
At one point, my own grandmother actually dressed as Jason and sat in a chair outside of her house and scared the kids away.

Did she do that during Halloween or everyday?
i love how part 2 has some of the cast go to a bar and never come back lol so they just go to the bar and that saves their lives :)
Been a big fan of Friday the 13th movies for as long as i can remember. Thx James for all you do.
Just a fan-theory, but I always thought that Jason drowned and died in the lake, which his mother then obsessed over for years. Then, when she was finally beheaded, some of her blood leaked into the water, carrying with it her insatiable hatred and awakening Jason's spirit in Hell. He then returns to his body when he becomes so enraged he claws his way back into the mortal realm. His mother's hatred gives him a much stronger form (nearly invincible) as a way to carry out her revenge; but beneath it all he's still just a boy (hence the ending of Manhattan) and can't survive without her fury fueling his otherworldly curse. This would further justify the bizarre link between him and his mother (like why he would drag her severed head all that way in the sequel) and why he keeps coming back.
I dig it
"Awakening his spirit in hell" but why would he be in hell he was a young innocent kid with learning difficulties at the time

I always find it funny that now-a-days, most people when they hear Necronomicon, think about Evil Dead. Forgetting or just not knowing that the name Necronomicon came from H.P. Lovecraft. Which makes it all the more hilarious that Kingdom Come: Deliverance included it in the "historically accurate" video game.
What's even more funny. People believe the necronomicon to be real. How religions get made I guess.
It is real like the ark of the covenant.
The concept of the Necrinomicon isn't By LoveCraft though. Just the Name. There have been plenty other versions of "Book of the Dead" before. (Like 1800's old)

I've always wanted to have Tommy come back (preferably with Feldman playing again) and have them do another take of older Tommy fighting Jason. In the aftermath of Logan and now Halloween '18, I'd further like to see them have older Tommy meet Tina (obviously a different actress from the original) and become her mentor and have them both fight Jason.
The movie could be a celebration of the best things the series has done and poke some fun at the worst, all the while being as fun and insane as any installment has been.

Well, The Humane Association of the United States is the actual PETA equivalent in cinema. They monitor the treatment of animals in movie industry and give the "No animals were harmed..." certification in movies.

In general, how do zombies have super strength in the media? Their muscles are rotting, they should struggle to move, let alone tear down doors!
The best theory I've heard is that it's normal human strength, but without inhibitions or self-preservation instincts holding it back. "Mad mans strength" is a real thing, so it has some basis in reality, even if it is way over-the-top most of the time.

As a kid seeing the VHS cover on the store shelf, I thought it was just that. Very disappointing to realize what it actually is. I would have loved to see him in hell, fighting and killing demons. Hell can't even handle Jason so the devil says fuck it and sends him back to Earth. Oh yeah!
SwedenSpeedway From part 1-8 they are all conected Jason "die" and on the next movie we see how he come back but after Jason goes to hell they fuck up continuity. How the hell he goes from an obese child on the sewers of New York to be chased by the FBI on cristal lake?
maybe the plot could be that jason gets sent to hell and someone is fucking him over and jason wants to fuck him up. Personally, I rather have Thom Matheson come back as Tommy - check out Never Hike Alone on UA-cam which is a fan film for Friday the 13th fans.
I wasn't allowed to watch these kinds of movies. My best friend had 3 older brothers who HAD seen them, so we got little trickles of information from the "adult world."
We would chase each other, taking turns being Jason and even dressed as him for Halloween several times. All without seeing a single minute of the actual film.
This went on for years. I like to think the image/myths we built up of Jason exceeded that of the actual character
Head canon: Jason is the same as the kid from the end and was resurrected by his mother's vengeful soul as she died. The aging thing is part of that.
The concept of becoming a fan of something without even having seen it is so interesting.
I also was "into" Jason stuff, despite never getting to see the movies.
Same thing with NHL players, over in Sweden we never got to see any NHL games more than a few highlights on the 2 minute sports news, but we had hockey cards, and everyone had their favorite players, just based off the cards and hockey video games.
Got this recommended on Friday the 13th, 2020.
Well, there's a reason Jason actually runs in Parts 2-4. It's because technically, he's still sorta alive. In Parts 6 and beyond, it's pretty clear that he's undead, and Part 6 is where he gained his supernatural abilities. It must have been foretold that he would come back from the dead. Considering the films share the same universe as the Evil Dead series, and the Necronomicon was actually found in the old Voorhees household in Part 9, it's pretty clear that he's actually a very powerful Deadite. He can't actually die. Any time someone does succeed in knocking him out, he comes back even stronger in the next film, as per the enchantments placed upon him by the Necronomicon.
This all being said, I'm really pissed off that they cancelled the new movie just because their crappy Rings movie bombed. Nobody even likes "The Ring"! What their fans really wanted, was the new Friday film, and they canned it to show their ignorance and malice.
FoxMageMagus the Merck was put there by the reporter all of that was put there by him
FoxMageMagus wait it was canceled??? What the fuck!
So he actually should be dead in all of them.
FoxMageMagus people like the ring
@Ivan Bujger of course, but NO ONE ON PLANET EARTH wanted a fucking sequel to that.
Me and my friends used to sit with Jason masks and homemade machetes, watch these movies and cheer Jason on :D Love these, brings me back to my childhood.

20:34 "Saturday the 14th didn't sound as catchy" ….. There is a slasher spoof I saw as a kid , and it is called …. "Saturday the 14th"
Friday 4 was meant to be the last movie of the jason saga, & & meant to replace him with Cory Feldmen, hence why 5 was so...Yeah, but the ending didn't go over well. Also, Friday 2 could've been like how they planned Halloween, where the series was meant to be an anthology, but in both cases, people wanted their super killer back.
Honestly I really enjoyed part V and think it would have been really interesting to see Tommy becoming the new “Jason”
"The book from Evil Dead is in thi movie!" It's also in the comoc of Freddy vs Jason vs Ash.
Not the real necrocomicon the news guy planted it 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
" now im done with friday the 13th, time to move on " (its alwase sunny intro) friday the 13th planned for 2020
Could be good... I mean, Halloween 2018 looks good.
I feel like the real villain in the Friday the 13th movies is the npaa
Jason Voorhees runs like a Welshman..
Lol
Well I never
Happy Friday 13th everyone.
There's a starman waiting in the sky screw you
let's all not forget to check the back seats of our cars today.
Oh shit it's actually Friday the 13th
dun Dun DUN~~~
Friday the 13th IN OCTOBER no less!
Why does everyone, even Joe Bob, think he killed the dog? The dog is back at the end as stress then tension relief before Jason's jump scare. It's just a random dead thing in the woods.
When you think about the chocolate bar guy and his dad are a neat little parallel to pamela and jason
Jason was filled with evil mold that finally grew around his small bones over time. Not human. Only Hate.
Evil Mold huh
Imagine that
This and Halloween series review is the best I've ever seen!
I can imagine Jason thinking every time he's electrocuted to -death- life, he just thinks it's another Monday morning. So he gets his uniform (Hockey mask) and gets to business (murder)
Call for "Just Another Manic Monday" montage.
Jason: "Ugh, time for work"!
I like to think Jason is like the Pyro from team fortress 2 and the mask makes him see rainbows and fairies when in reality it's all gore and bones
Just a case of the mondays I'd say
It's the most wonderful timmeeeeee of the year!! Happy Friday the 13th!!!
After watching the Blair Witch Project the day it came out, I told one of the friends I was with that the style of film(later named "found footage") would be perfect for a Friday the 13th film. I still stand behind that statement. It could be visceral and it could be 80s af - which is the era they need to take the movies back to. These slashers just don't work anymore with all the tech available to people nowadays.
lol it wouldn't work
@@joshuawidener8407 It might if done well.
@@nasbukhari696 a found footage Jason film? Lol
@@joshuawidener8407 Maybe.
@@nasbukhari696 its an intriguing idea
Don't get me wrong
