Evelyn. I am American born and bred. I have a father who was born and raised in Ghana in Accra. I have a mother who grew up in Aparteid in South Africa. My closest friends are all 50-100% African blood, from Ethiopia, to Kenya, to Côte d'Ivoire to SA. You are the content we have been looking for our entire lives. This is EXACTLY how my family acts, this is EXACTLY what they do and what they talk about. Almost an entire video about Jollof rice? Legendary.
I'm so happy that you can't even spell apartheid correctly. It deserves to be spelt wrong LOL. What a cool combination you are! Here's to our awesome continent!
Ghana never want to hear good thing Nigeria so ghana donot kidnap people abi about the lies you have answer Nigeria name chu chi bola and so on very soon God will put Nigeria enemy to shame
100% Africa's tech industry is lit. Out here sending money to each other via phones before it became a thing in the UK - that Mpesa life. Leaving for Morocco and Kenya next week!
53 facts! When you read about how the whole continent technically went mobile first and skipped the whole land line phenomenon due to infrastructure you really start to be like "WAIT A MINUTE WE OUT HERE!! WE DOIN IT!!"
Giiirrrrl you know MARRIAGES HAVE ENDED because if jollof rice. Its not JUST rice. 😆😆 I'm not African just surrounded by the motherland. I have seen fights because of it.
This video had me dying! I'm half Nigerian, half Ghanaian, but American born. Let me tell you, the arguments I witnessed growing up over which parent made the best jallof... hey! 😂 (And then they tried to make me and my siblings pick sides...😓) 🇬🇭🚻🇳🇬
when will this war end? regardless of where the rice is from, when it's cold....they both be tasting like miniature bullets. love not war man, love not war
I got my dna back a few weeks ago and found out most of my african heritage centers in Nigeria.... I was so excited to find out where I'm from 😊... so I'd like to go there someday. And Tanzania. Oh, and your locs beautiful, Evelyn ❤️❤️
I'm Zulu, and live in KwaZulu-Natal South Africa. I would love to visit Ethiopia, Congo, Zambia & Kenya. Especially Kenya where I can flex my Swahili & Gikuyu lol
I am a Zimbabwean third culture kid so I'm neck deep in the motherland lol. Applied for a Nigerian visa in April at the consulate in Harare...that was an adventure lmao. A lifetime of visa application experience and I was still never ready lool
The Rice argument HILARIOUS!!!! Now add Trinidad vs Jamaican vs Puerto Rico and then Uncle Bens vs Carolina......I swear wars can be started over someone not cooking that rice right. Continued blessings Evelyn you are a treasure
I love how the Jollof competition lasted day after day, lol!!! So awesome they have the event in an African country. I feel you though on the visa thing.... Love ya' Evelyn my internet cousin :)
Evelynnnnnnn!!!! Your videos give me LIFE. And with the day I had today I needed to LOL so thank you providing me with many LOLS. Botswana and Rwanda are the dream! I live in Nairobi right now so I think it's more realistic to visit Kigali instead of Gaborone but it's in my mental vision board! I hope you're doing well! - Khadija
I did the DNA ancestry test and found that I am 36% Ghanaian and 15% Nigerian a bit of Cameroon/Congo alone with a percentage of Senegal, so I would definitely like to touch down in Ghana and like to check out my cousins in Nigeria. Once you have the test done your inner being just go nuts. I was repping Ghana in my home even before I knew of my lineage with a statue of Ghana. I was look up how to make Jollaf rice , and saw you video an it piqued my curiosity with my on going study and search of knowledge in the culture. It been fantastic knowing.!
Good on you for helping make this conference happen. It's important. Also, the rice battle was hilarious and every time you slip into an African accent, it cracks me up.
I've never been, but I want to go to Morocco, Madagascar, Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa. If everything goes as planned I'll be one of those countries within the next year.
I'm going to Senegal for my first Motherland visit next week. I'm so excited and just trying to be open. I'm sure my expectations vs reality will be way off. Thanks for the video. You brighten my day as always :)

You ALWAYS manage to make me LOL!! And, thank you for being one of a handful of Vloggers who show the true, realistic, everyday lifestyle of a Vlogger.
I've been to Nigeria more times than I can count. I totally understand what you mean by how the people talk to you out there. I hated doing those flights.
I love her channel too. I came across her channel 3 years ago. I enjoyed this vlog. Haha Ghana jollof all day oo. I can't wait to try other Jollof rice. So far I have tried Senegalese, Nigerian and Ghanaian. I definitely agree that Africa is left out in a lot of conversations.
I agree about Africa being left out of conversations...Tanzania represent! My ancestry is Tanzanian and I have been to South Africa, Egypt & Sudan. I plan on going to Ethiopia and the end of the year.

South Africa....Egypt...Kenya...and from the looks of it Nigeria too! 😊 Haven't done the whole trace your DNA roots yet but I'm sure once I did that would also add a few places to the list. Until the next one! I gotta turn my notifications on for you linda, dang!
My first trip abroad was to South Africa, and the travel bug has bitten me several times since. Thank you for sharing this wonderful experience. You're right. Africa as a continent gets left out of the conversations around social media and technology. Africa as a continent is changing, countries are building bridges and cultural connections, and your blog is part of that. And I can also relate to the travel visa struggle. The same problems occur for India.
I have never applied for a Visa for Nigeria but I know the struggle is real...trying to get a Visa for China left me speechless! You look like you had a ball...the Jollof rice wars are hilarious! This event sounds amazing.
Amazing video! I'm so happy you were able to share with us. I've never been to Africa. But definitely want to go. I'm looking forward to visiting as many places as I possibly can.
