Best motor of the big blocks right there.
I’m working on my EFI 460 this week too. Just doing my for a reliable work truck. Keep up the work. Ready to see it in the truck!
Thanks, you too!
Keep up the good work. I hope all is well with you.
Let's go!!! I love that the videos are back Richard they're great
Thanks brother! How's your project going? You have a giant turbo installed yet?
@@dickysgarage7120 just got out of some bad-decision debt lol, we'll see how my tax return looks and I might see a big turbo in spring, over 300whp easily
Your neighbors shouldnt be too upset. I tuned my 600+ hp roadrunner in driveway with open headers. At least you have "mufflers" on yours.
No video in a long time, hope you got something good for us
Pretty cool man.
Sounds good.
Any update on this 460 install love the channel
I love turning dinosaurs into sleepy gas
Awesome
Badass
Nice video I plan on rebuilding my 460 in a f350 first tine. Just learning about them and apparently there weakness is the rods are to long so the piston doesn't come down fast enough to suck in fresh AFR. Second low compression a low 8 to 1. Next the intake valve is a to small by making it bigger it assist in grabbing around the cylinder well. Next the intake runners are way to short. Lastly the ignition is just enough to light it off. I can understand why Chevy took off. And any Ford hi performance you need née heads
This build I'm putting in a bigger intake valve. Port matching. Cleaning up the exhaust. And of course bee hive springs and née hardware. And a duel plane intake. Holly sniper. Also LS coil on plug with MSD ls. And née 10:1 pistons. Good set of NHK plugs. Awesome video thanks
Do those 460s not need the bellhousing atached to mount starter like a small block
No update.. is this guy still alive?
Can you powershift the zf5? I got a super clean low miles 460 waiting to be warmed over and dropped into my stepside stickshift. Can't believe more people don't do this. Subscribed
Put a short shift kit on it.
The sniper likes an open plenum..
Missing your videos I hope everything's okay
Hi there. Looking to do a similar swap with a 460 in a tenth gen f150. So you recommend a front or rear oil pickup? Thanks
Curious as to what you ended up with for a DCR with that cam??
Sounds great I wanna swap my 400 in my 1977 Thunderbird for a 460
Rebuild the 400 , big Cleveland check out Richard Holdener on UA-cam 400 build.
@@williamrose8944 Thanks will do
The 460 will drop in might be cheaper way to go
I have questions? How did you get it to fit motor mounts exc
What mounts and oil pan are needed to put a 460 in a lightning
How TF did i miss this vid drop??
Do you have any HP & Torque numbers? Looking at doing this for my 1996 Bronco Lightning build.
Did you ever figure out why it was cutting out? My truck is having this same issue. I was thinking it was fuel pressure.
What was your compression ratio on this engine? I have a efi 460 and want to hop it up a little but still run cheap gas because it is way to thirsty to be feeding the high octane stuff 😅
Compression Ratio 76cc 13.7:1, 82cc 12.8:1, 91cc 11.6:1, 97cc 11.0:1. This is the info I found online for these pistons
What kind of headers are you running on that
Hi to everyone. I have an original high compression 460 in a 1969 Lincoln Mk III. I need to have the engine rebuilt and am going to restomod my Mk III instead of back to stock. I dont know if I should keep the engine with the stock heads or go aluminum heads. I plan to go the stroker route to 545 ci. I also dont know if I should have EFI or carbs. I do want a drivable, enjoyable car, so I guess around 10 to 1 compression so I dont need race fuel. Any opinions are welcome please. Should I keep the iron heads, or go aluminum? Should I go EFI or carbs? I like EFI cuz easy starting of course. Which stroker kits are the best? I have seen Eagle and Scat at Jegs and Summit. Thank you
how did you mount the starter on the engine stand?
I’m looking to do this to a 2010 f150 4x4. Any help? I have a 95 f350 to use for parts.
I know this is an older video, but what mufflers are you running on that motor.
those big cams on a tight LS do not work well with fuel injection. The low vacuume makes the ecu think its under a load and will over fuel.
U got it bro !!!!
Depends on the EFI system and whether the person can program it.
Maybe take out the big spacer. Sounds like it over compensating by adding more fuel
How does that sniper EFI work? Is it still multi port sequential or is the fuel injected through the sniper efi throttle body? I thought those were designed to replace carbs. I have a 97 f250 460 and would like to upgrade the throttle body with an air cleaner. Is the Holley sniper EFI master kit good for this? My main question is, how can I upgrade to the Holley sniper efi throttle body, while keeping it multi port sequential? Is that possible?
You are correct. These snipers only replace carburetors. To the best of my knowledge the efi on the 460 was batch fired with the exception of 97 cali/maf systems. Holly does make a system that can run multi port it but it's big money.
Holly makes a throttle body just for that type of setup! Looks similar to the throttle body injection system but has only throttle plates , map sensor and idle air control and an interface module to work with the eec 4 computer. I watched a video on UA-cam about it. Multi port is way superior to throttle body injection. And is more fuel efficient.
@@randallcarney1216 You're absolutely right. To be honest now that it's cammed with more compression the factory ECU isn't getting it done even with the MAF. I'm currently gathering parts version 2.0 with a 100% tunable ECU.
I'd like to get a 429 and put 460 efi on it.
Wait isn't the sniper pre and the injectors irrelevent... I'm lost
Waiting for part 2 ?
Did it work with your factory injection want to do similar build on 88 f250
Yes and no. It's drivable but way down on performance.
What’s headers are those
did it ever learn to idle?
Do you plan on adding turbo down the line
Possibly. I gapped the rings for nitrous/boost just in case. I bet with just a little boost it would be rowdy.
Not enough rotating mass to keep that big boy running when you let off! Missing the clutch/torque converter and additional rotating mass
How much was the motor with all the mods?
Could I run it with stock efi setup not the sniper?
What ever happened with this build?
Did you run 87 or 93 with this setup?
What mufflers are thos?
You think you can hook me up with some 460 parts it's for my dad's f350 he passed away before he could rebuild it. Would be awesome
Wish you were my neighbor
I would go terminator x max instead of a stock ecu
Should have ported
2 years, radio silent :(
Need a bigger carburetor
Carburetor... where we're going we don't need carburetors!
