I love the irony of Alan’s book. Talking about how his father wanted to force him into business with him and how horrible that is while doing worse to his own son.
Childish behaviour. And frankly, I suspect it was Jen's idea to do that. Alan was weak-minded, pliable and oblivious but she was a manipulative egomaniac that poisoned Alan's mind over the years so he does what she wants. He was kinda a victim himself, in this whole family mess.
"My son has a great deal of resentment against me, and I don't know why." My jaw literally dropped. This reminds me of that documentary about his dad, the famous criminal in Australia and how his own father did not even trust him with inheritance. Shows so much what kinda person this guy is.

My bf doesn't have the best relationship with his dad either, and it's bloody hard to watch the person you love consistently crushed by the figure that's supposed to build him up :( I can sympathise with how angry Wendy is on Danny's behalf.
I think the reason David lashed out at Danny was because he just had so much built up frustration, and it's a shame because Danny is a very capable expeditor and manager and David is a good chef, it's really Gen and Allan's attitude that likely caused them both to just bottle up their anger, and this was the last straw for both of them
They were both under so much unnecessary stress that I'm surprised neither of them straight up decked the two "owners" in the face. And Alan has the gull to complain about his own father while he's destroying his own child.
