Good thing the Russians are NOT supplying the Taliban with anti-air and anti-tank missiles. Wonder why? The Chinese had no problem selling anti-tank weapons to the Syrian rebels so why not the Afghans? That kind of stuff would have ended US involvement in Afghanistan years ago. Something fishy about that and the fact NO ONE is talking about it.

Based on the condition of the HMP, it's possible it's guns were not at full power when it shot Ahsoka.

When things crash they take a lot more damage than what is immediately visible.
Hence why cars are often scrapped after wrecks

Nah, the LAAT/i is the HIND, right down to the cockpit styling and internal troop bay, this is its own thing.
Considering how the HMP was based off of early LAAT concepts, I think we can safely say that they’re Both hinds! ;D

This is what I like about Star Wars: it makes subtle references to real world events. Perfect example: Umbara being the Star Wars version of Vietnam.
I'm sorry, did you just call Umbara a 'subtle' reference to Vietnam? Because it really isn't. Not trying to disprove your point, but you may want to pick a better example than Umbara.
Derek Zhang is right. One reason for this is because the umbarans have more advanced tech than the Republic, unlike the Vietnamese who had inferior tech.

The shot that hit Ashoka might of been weakened, just a fraction of a normal bolt, probably even weaker than a blaster, as the ship was dieing.

Based on how you can see the would on the front of Ahsoka's shoulder, I'm guessing the bolt had just enough power to go through her shoulder, but not cause any extra damage.

This is the coolest, most evil looking ship, and the fact that they are close to sentient beings are terrifying. Awesome.

Unfortunately I don't think an HMP could survive without a huge amount of support, CIS craft were fairly fuel needy to begin with, and I doubt its experimental nuclear kind was at all easy to get a hold of...
@@DonaldWWitt But the AI could survive without fuel right, even if they powered down if they weren't scraped shouldn't the droid itself technically still be able to survive. I could imagine one sitting dormant in a forgotten separatist holdout for decades.

I deadass thought you were going to say “above and beyond the call of duty” because yeah it’s a droid. It’s a sentient being that deserves to be maintained, valued, protected, used constantly, rewarded, and eventually petted lovingly on the nose.
This Droid Gunship is actually my favorite and I feel like it actually rivals that of the clone Gunship
While I was watching the aerial battles during the second Avatar movie I couldn’t help but imagine how the humans would have fared if they had had the HMP gunship in their arsenal.

I think that the reason for the medium laser cannon not taking out Ashoka was that the main payload was blown up, so it might have damaged the cannon itself, making it less powerful.
if it was a smaller blaster, yeah. But the HMP is used against Starfighters.

As yes, the HMP Gunship. Without a doubt one of the CIS's more deadly mechanical toys alongside the Commando Droid, the Homing Spider Walker, the Tri-Fighter, the Hailfire and the Defoliator Tank. Also, it seems you haven't done a video on the Nebulon-B Frigate yet, which is kinda surprising given how iconic of a ship it is. Do you think you could do a video on the classic rebel ship sometime in the future?
I find it so fascinating how the writers for The Clone Wars bases some of the episodes off of actual historical events. Ashoka probably used her ample supply of plot armor

This Droid is definitely my favorite gunship of all Star Wars even more so than the Republic Gunship and I love to see this again in the sequel trilogy! Its small size and multi-purpose makes it very versatile in war and what destroyed brain if you're afraid by itself without a pilot and be a terrifying figure in both land in space! It also reminds me of the gunships from the Terminator movies; and with the red eye feature and it's terrifying Effectiveness ,I think that's where the idea came from!

@@MetaNerdzLore I could only imagine fighting them in-game. They would probably be fought in missions where you're piloting aircraft(like Vultures in CW). It would been fun to fight Octuptarra Tri-Droids too.

Not bad a design. Though placing the fuel tank and missile RIGHT on top of each other is a clear design flaw. I'm gonna assume that the reason Ahsoka was able to just brush up a mid-laser cannon shot its cause the cannon itself was far from an effective state after the crash. Honestly, its a testament to the engineers that it was still functional enough to let out a weak shot at all.
Surprise the ray shield triggers with the thermal detonator and rocket launchers. Ray shields only deflect energy bolt like blasters and such. Projectile based weapons aren't suppose to be effected and just pass right through with no issue.
You mixed up particle and ray. Its specifically stated to defend against objects and energy respectably. Individually or both can be colloquially called deflector shields.
For cost saving measures, it likely only has a ray shields since its very uncommon for non-energy weapons to be used on the battlefields of Star Wars, for some reason.
It possibly has a light particle shield, just enough to shove the detonator away before it exploded to lessen the damage taken, not enough to counterthrust against a full rocket. Or it redirected its repulsors up to knock the grenade away and the shield triggered because part of the explosion was thermal energy.

All weapons sold separately.
Possibly the shields only 'light up' because an explosion happens inside of them, and its actually the gunship's metal plating/armor that makes it impervious to thermal detonators.

I kind like the droids being able to talk its adds for interesting dialog. I like in the movie a how B1 battle droid complemented on a dwarfs spider droids shooting skills as if it were a dog. I also enjoyed the B1s insulting each other from time to time or not listening to there command droids. Like at one planet hunting down yoda and his clone body guards I said stop and then subordinate says why. We won't fit in there and the subordinate is like yes we can and then tells his AAt drive to push on only to crash into the coral style barriers and then gets thrown out of his tank cupola. Then the command droid says next time listen to orders. Or B2 being controlled by yoda shooting his allies don't shoot I am having a serious malfunction and they still shoot him anyways lol. I could just picture the Gunship saying okay here are boys I comeback late to pick you when the jobs done. Or if you guys don't stop arguing i am turn around lol. So what if its less scary. The clones are very serious and not many of them have alot of humour but they are suppose be close brothers in battle so they have to depend on each other. Wheres Droids being even more expendable and programmed they are more or less co workers than battle brothers so it kinda to be expected in seeing this kinda nonsense at least with B1 and B2 battle droids. Its funny listening to high pitched noises to the vulture droids to lol.
The nice thing about modular emplacements is that what is put on it is usually aftermarket buys meaning there goes two of your laser cannons and your missle launchers leaving you with racks for droids engines cooling vents, a repulsorlift and your 5 medium laser cannons though those dual medium laser cannons have the same lighter punch when their shots don't converge on one target hence why they're fixed together they will even have reduced range when not traveling together. Similar gun emplacements are used in the Rebellion and are put on z-95 headhunters so when your bolts hit the same place the bolts penatrate deeper into enemy armor. Han uses this to great affect in the Han Solo triliogy (the book series that spawned the Star wars EU) when he defends the people fixing his ship from the corporate sector authority.
The reason Ahsoka survived that medium laser cannon is because of this special Jedi ability called, PLOT ARMOR. It’s a very rare Jedi ability that only some rare Jedi can tap into.

I think the canon lost power but ashokas top half would be no more either way. The only thing that saved her was her immense plot armour

It sounds ike the ship itself is only 60,000 and everything else has to be provided (fuel, weapons, and sensors). Which is actually a pretty cool idea as every planet is different and the weapon options on each are different. It's a logistical miracle.
Not to mention that it didn't need life support systems like other ships.

Looking at the comparison image at 2:36 I find myself wondering how in the heck does an ARC-170's wings not snap off during even basic acceleration. They look to be attached with nothing but metal toothpicks at the wing roots.

Yea I found it pretty ridiculous that Asoka was able to survive a DIRECT hit to her heart at close range from a medium laser which could take out a small vehicle in one hit but she is barely scratched.
It was probably a low-power shot, considering the droid had just been shot down moments before
@@nickfury1279 It's still a MEDIUM laser, magnitudes more powerful than even the heavy rifles carried by the clones. Had it been anything smaller sure I could let it slide but even a lower power shot from a medium laser would easily kill an unarmored CHILD.
@@Nidhoggrr You have to remember this thing was quite heavily so the power delivery might have been malfunctioning
I think the Droid does indeed have sentience, as do most if not all the CIS units. The droid's reactor was heavily damaged, so it may have had just enough power to move it's cannon and fire one incredibly underpowered shot before it died.

But how do they fly in space without any thrusters? Also, I hope we get them as playable vehicles in Battlefront 2.
They have some thrusters on the back of the disc, but really it's only in Battlefront we see them in space to my recollection, and that game made the V-Wing into a bomber.
Almost all repulsorlift vehicles have thrusters for forward movement. The repulsors are only used to provide counter-gravity lift.

It's more likely that Yoda used force to change the direction of this shot.
I mean, Im not a programmer, but I don't think there were any unknown factors (lasers aren't affected by wind (I think)) that could prevent the ship from calculating a perfect shot.
@Krzysztof Suswał its possible either it was damaged when it fired or was intercepted right before it fired, having the laser go in a different direction. yoda might not be able to stop something that powerful BUT i dont really know how much it would take so... not going to rule it out.

luv, luv LUV! this droid from the CIS! -I can imagine a handful of these being good security and base defense (one of the better things the CIS produced and one of the things I'd be after as far as post-war tech)
I would say the true tell was the reaction one of the ships had to the first one blowing up. It looked surprised as it flew back, almost "jumping"

8:50 It's possible that the Separatist made a specialized hyperdrive ring for the gunships. Also, I think the empire made a mistake in decommissioning them. I think they could've used their versatility in a variety of battles to give them the upper hand, or at least some variant of it.

This has been my favourite droid/spaceship as soon as I saw it. It looks so menacing it has so much firepower and the scene from 9:23 -9:24 looks so badass.
