When I was 24, I was hired as employee #30 at Facebook. I got 0.1% of the company → today that would be worth close to $1 BILLION… but I got fired before I ever “vested” my stock. You’ve probably seen the movie The Social Network… well here’s the real story 🙂

you reaffirmed my suspicions that facebook and zuckerberg are awful.
You just casually said you came up with the “what’s on your mind status idea 😦😦😦”. That’s huge
It just a simple idea anyone could've thought of.
@@empnadajhhh9469 well many people thought of it, only facebook successfully implemented it. If you think that idea was some sort of a genius, you probably are too young to know what hi5 was or are too naive.
@@busimo It's not about it being a genius idea its about the impact
@@TheDividendExperiment did you actually read the above comment?T The guy's amazed because of the "idea".
@@busimo I *think* they are amazed that he casually came up with something that has had so much impact
An Entrepreneur and an Employee mindset are worlds apart. You cannot exist as both. That’s the reason Noah was fired from Facebook.
Yep
Really?
I’m an entrepreneur trying to work at Facebook.
@@willdov what do you feel makes you an entrepreneur?
This sounds like a very good summary of the video hahaha!!
This is a man that is humble, not flashy and truly giving. Thank you, Noah, for inspiring me.
I am Desi, and do not like Asian. Haha. You work Tech?
thank you for this video
Thanks Atozy 🙇♂️
69 likes i wont break the balance
@@noahkaganmaybe don’t leak company plans to the media and you wouldn’t have been fired 😂
"Didn't go to Harvard and Stanford"
Oh fr?
"I went to Berkeley"
Bruh.
It wasn't as prestigious then as it is now. But yeah, it's kind of an oblivious statement.
Yeah funny comment. I also went to Cal and it’s of course a massive feeder into Silicon Valley. Like Stanford, but not as good :)
Yeah exactly
Lol yeah
"My backup is to work at Intel"
Can't relate
Intel is trash to work at though.
My backup was also making chips.
At chipotle
Uncle Noah is a fucking blessing for the upcoming entrepreneurs. Period.
Didn’t expect this to be so raw.
Although this must have sucked at the time, it's awesome seeing you connect the dots in hindsight and realizing that everything happens for a reason.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I got let go of two of my jobs because I also wanted to have my own show. I am also exceptional in the beginning but with time it becomes obvious I want to run my own show and I have a hard time “scaling” with other people’s companies.
Noah, you can't imagine how incredibly grateful I am for all the inspiring videos you put out here and I must say that this particularly video is the best for me because you completely let us into one of your most vulnerable past experiences. Thank you for all you do.
Your pace, your points, your impeccable intuition towards what your viewers would/should want to see next is incredible - you are just one dope axx dude.
Thanks for being vulnerable enough to share your story! It has a lot of lessons, that we could all learn from.
You the GOAT man! Much respect - been following you for +10 years and always massive value 💰
I just started following you not too long ago Noah and really like your videos. This hit home for me because I was fired about 15 years ago and not sure if I would have got into business if I wasn’t fired. Gotta say, I don’t think I could ever go back to working for someone. Things have really paid off these past few years. Thanks for sharing.
I watch a lot of Noah’s vids, this one was the best. Felt so human and authentic.
Man this was such a good video! You can tell it was therapeutic for Noah, but man you can see the pain of that whole termination experience to.
Love this video. Thank you for your honesty. And honestly, the lessons you learned while at Facebook were priceless and worth way more than the $100M's you were about to get. The message you're sharing is more enlightening than you think, because you are actually paying it forward. #NoRegrets #BelieveUnYourself and Always Be Creating.
Bro this was epic. Been fired twice myself for similar issues so really feel it. Great wisdom and honestly
Hey, Noah! I know that this was a hard video for you to make but I think that it's one of your best videos! (Although, to be honest, all your videos are pretty good.) But this one was your most honest video and you were willing to be vulnerable and show people that even the King Of Tacos goes through bad times. Thank you for doing it. I hope that you have a wonderful day!
great video and great edit as well! thanks for sharing Noah
Thanks amigo
This video was so inspirational. I'm going through some tough times careerwise, and it's refreshing to know someone had a similar problem. Well done on your achievements and I hope we all get to that place soon.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I somehow recall and carry around all the times that I got fired. We carry the lessons with us. Thank you for building a path for us underdogs.
Noah, you’re so f-ing real it’s soothing. Out of all the people that I have ever stumbled across online you are among the most genuine and courageous.
I really do hope to get some tacos with you one day. And when it happens, tacos on me!
Thank you for sharing. I always learn something useful.
Love the honesty; it goes a long way with me.
I almost skipped this video... I am glad I did not - it ended up being one of the most inspirational videos I have seen in months. I actually took a different lesson than the ones you listed - I was able to look inward and realize the real motivator for me is building and scaling and should delegate the rest~! - Thank you for the inspiration!!
Content on this channel has so much value. 1 million subs couldn't come sooner.
Thanks for sharing this story Noah, very grateful for all your inspiring lessons for entrepreneurship. :)
That's honesty. You're brave talking about it out in the open. I gotta still muster up speaking about mine. A lot of learning for me. Thanks.
What an amazing and insightful video. This was in my recommendations, and I'm floored to hear your story and your down-to-earth self
Let me translate this for you because he's still vague in the video. Noah was fired because he didn't integrate into someone else's vision. For those of you out there that understand what this means, it's a tough pill to swallow. He's a rebel. And that's why he was seen as a "liability." Been there done that. But Noah's got something 75% of current startups don't have: honesty-to-a-fault. For these types, It's rough going in the early days of their career, but when they find the sweet spot, it's flowers for everyone. Bless up Noah ☝️ I see you. 💹
I mean, to be honest, he didn’t get fired “because he was a rebel” he got fired bc instead of focusing on his actual job and purpose of being there, he wanted to be famous, which is ok, but it’s not why you hire employees. There’s no need to glorify it. He just wasn’t doing his job
@@chrisharrisglobal LOL what makes you think I was glorifying it? I'm speaking from experience here that I've unfortunately done the exact same thing. Live and learn.
am I correct that it wasn't integrating with the vision of Zucc?
and he SUED them
If you read Noah's book, the "liability" comes from the fact that he leaked information to the press and bypassed the marketing team. On top of this he also used his position for self-promotion. The great thing about Noah is that he shared his whole journey so that everyone can learn from his experience.
Your story is beautiful. Thank you for sharing!
Hey Noah, remember everything happens for you, the universe works how it works!
I‘m grateful for your channel and you and I’m really impressed by what you have done and you are still doing!
I can see you on the top, can you?🙌
Thanks for posting Noah, always wanted to hear the full story... btw @1:22 ...is that Ramit in the back?
One of the best things i heard so far. It's hard to move on but, hope can keep you moving.
Great video, Noah. Super vulnerable story, thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing about how you were fired from Facebook, even though it was emotionally difficult for you to talk about. That really resonated with me. Too many people only show the good side of business and not what they learned from when things went south.
Love the inside story. I get it. I was pushed out of a company I helped build for similar reasons. Although over time you know it was the right move, you're still a little pissed off about it.
Great video Noah. Wow appreciate your honesty and straight forwardness. A lot of lessons to learn.
I stuck to the end and it was totally worth it :) Big challenge, big lesson...cheers mate !
Great video Noah, thank you for always sharing!
I've heard bits and pieces of this story but this video was definitely the best explanation of it all!
It's amazing that this person can go through such an emotional heartbreaking journey and not act bitter. While he can act angry and just talk shit about Mark, he actually shows admiration for him. You can tell it's painful for him, but he used the experience to grow forward rather than show resentment.
Wow this was so great and the journey was worth it. Life is what really happens when we are busy doing other things. Now you can look back and said, I made it and that was stepping stone or however you want to call it that made a huge impact. Thanks a million for sharing!
Noah, Simón from Costa Rica here. Í have being following you since you showed Up in Ramit Brain Trust, and dude, its being a blast! You are a gift to anyoone's journey, and this video is a clear example why, THANK YOU!
I am so happy that he speaks slowly in that video!
Very inspirational and you being vulnerable to share your feelings makes the thought of jumping into my dreams less scary... thanks Noah
TY For sharing!
Thank you for the honesty
You are a Great Guy Noah, So brave of you, to do this video. Everything happens for a reason!
Greetings from Ireland, can't wait to see you in Europe for that bike trip. I will join you along with many others I am sure! 😉
Noah, I love your podcast. Your videos and your heart to help others. Thank you for being generous with your content.
This man is a gift to us all. Thank you Noah!!
Great inspiration bro! Life is a journey. We all have different paths. Thanks for sharing… see you at the top!
👏👏👏 You have to have guts to make this video. Thanks Noah.
Thanks for the story @Noah Kagan!
Great story, thanks for sharing Noah
Absolute fire dude. You are an inspiration!!!
I loved your story and the open way you shared it. Thanks, Noah!
p.s.happy to subscribe to your channel. You put out good sh&t!
It's not easy to share a personal story especially if you're not proud about it but you did it, Noah. Good to know you're doing so well now. Thanks for sharing!
Noah, great video. Probably the rawest I've ever seen you---thank you for sharing that with all of us and thank you for the great tips and suggestions. The universe does work in very mysterious ways.
I stumbled across this video by accident while looking for something else. ;) I truly appreciate the honesty, authenticity, and sharing these hard-earned lessons with others like me who have been through something similar. I saw this at the perfect time as I have founded 2 companies in the past year and am getting used to this incubation phase as a creative entrepreneurial leader who was pushed out of someone else's box. Thank you for this.
You know what sucks about this video?
I have been doing the same thing in trying to create my own show while trying to show respect for those I work for and I'm kinda tired of getting kicked in the teeth.
My main passion project that I think is the real problem that needs to be solved has once again got blown up by life and unfulfilling day job needs, and I really just want to go sit in a corner and wait to die because I have no idea what to do with myself if I drop this project and am all out of pivots.
And now you make me want to get back to work on it.
Thanks for always being real Noah
Felt that, thanks for sharing this Noah!!!
Amazing story man!
Thanks for making this video, Noah. Brave AF
Great video and message. Thank you for sharing this experience with such a great attitude
Dude what an amazing and Unique experience and an insight only you could give, because you were there.. thanks for sharing your story and thank you for all the entrepreneur inspiration and knowledge!
Excellent video Noah. Thank you for this man
Thank for your sharing this story! This was really really cool, also super inspiring
Excellent, one of your best videos, thank you for sharing. Alan
This is an eye-opener for me.
I worked at a company that was really good but was put under a new manager who hated me and made it appear I was messing up so he could get me out of the company and place his friend in my place (I basically dealt with the mailroom but also worked on imports and exports). Now, I have multiple sclerosis and thought my mind had been going bad but after I was "fired" I found out from an old colleague that the manager was fired because they found that he was sabotaging reports to get others fired so he can replace them with his own.
My depression left me once I found out but when it comes to being in a job I am still not trusting at all. I honestly have a big distrust in people now.
Authentic video. Thanks for sharing. You were young and had dreams. They screwed you. Glad you recovered. 50% of people in same situation probably never recovers and live ruined forever. Many smart people think they own the world and owe others nothing. They only care that they win whatever situation they are in and take every chip from the table. These people don't care about sharing unless it means they get something from it. Maybe there is a higher consciousness that will give these people justice in the next realm.
Ohhhh they clawed back the shares! I never realized that after all these years. I’ve just had my 401k match clawed back from another digital giant. Bad policies.
Thank you for sharing 🤩
Thanks for posting this video!
Thanks noah!!! Love this
Thank You for the video Noah!! Truly Inspiring…
I loved every last bit of this and I have to say that as much as you believe you aren’t doing that well I consider you incredibly gifted just like you consider Mark. You are just a few personality types apart and that’s ok.
Hey Noah, I really like your videos man ( even though I don’t like FB🙃) Keep ‘em coming. Having worked in the valley and in tech. I had developed a certain dislike for the snobby Silicon Valley types . But it’s refreshing to see how you take a “keep it real”/ no bs approach to relating your experience working at FB.
Thank you for the video! Love your content from one Noah to another
What an amazing story and life journey, truly inspiring!
Great input, Noah. Thanks for sharing
Love you, Noah!
Loved this personal video, Noah!
Thanks for sharing your story
Thank you for this amazing content!
Thank You For Sharing Noah 🙏
Thanks, Noah. Love the cool background and setup. (Just one suggestion... Your background music is too loud. It was hard to hear you.)
Great story. Facebook grew rapidly fast. Interesting to hear about Facebook and the early days.
loved the video. being at facebook in the early days must have been incredible. Also, like the t-shirt, where did you get that from?
Great video. Thanks for sharing ♥️
I always wanted to know. Background music was awesome 👌
Very inspiring story...thanks Noah
Thank you Noah for this video
So interesting, I believe If I was put in the same situation I would have made the same mistake, I think the answer would have been to be extremely devoted until your vesting period ended - at least.
"Bad experience make us better " Thank you Noah. Love from India.
Thank you for your brutal honesty. I appreciate and learn from it. I like how realistic you are. I was let go of a job after 22 years 2 years ago and it still bothers me and I am allowing it to affect me till today. After this, I promise to let go and say fuck it. thank you for opening a new door for me. It just has taken two years to walk through it.
Everything happens for good. We will miss great from Noah if he is still in Facebook. You are doing billion times great 👏👏
Nice story. Thank for making the video. What I don’t understand about Facebook is when you report hacked accounts that try to add you, they just send a message saying the accounts are okay and they don’t do anything. Why do they keep the fake spam accounts?
