I was let go just Friday and even though I knew the job wasn’t a good fit for me... I still cried like a baby. I think it’s just a mentality we have built in most of us to cry even though we know deep down it was for the best. No one likes to get fired, we want to leave on our own terms, not theirs. Here’s to the next chapter in my future!
Just got fired and I’m owning it. I use the word fired with my family and friends and terminated with potential employers. Be open and honest about it. I just had an interview yesterday and the lady goes… It happens… I don’t really care about that, let’s move on. And I’m probably getting an offer in the next week. Don’t let it stigmatize you. I can empathize with this young man. I also suffer from depression and anxiety. I’m getting help on that but I can tell you that when things are good, they’re good with me. I need to work on when things aren’t good. I’m partially to blame for being fired and if you can’t take ownership of some of that, you need to look back in the mirror.

Thank you so much for your post. I was fired today. Like you, it was also partly my fault and also like you, I struggle with anxiety and depression + CPTSD. I feel like I really let myself down and am really down on myself. Unfortunately, I won't have any references from this job and I don't know what to do. I really liked the work itself and the people I served. I've just had waayyy too much stress in the last 12 months. My mom died last year and since then it's been one thing after another rapidly like dominoes. I got overstimulated, anxious, angry and depressed and blew up at my coworkers who have similar mental health issues. I just don't know yet how to talk about this in an interview. I don't want to lie and say that I just quit on my own. 😥

I lost my job 5 years back... Started something of my own. However, still I cannot forget that traumatic experience. I am not sure how I can erase that experience.

I got fired a week ago from one of my two jobs, and aside from losing my health insurance, i feel just a huge sense of relief at the idea of never being BOH again, never having to interact with certain people again.

I got laid off because I was getting replaced by a new automated system. I was all smiles and understanding. Till I drove away from the office. I then started bawling my eyes out. However I do think it's a blessing as I drove extremely far and barely saw my family and friends because of that job. Just a little lost to be honest but I'll find my way

I lost my job (of 11 years) 6 months ago. I was optimistic, clear and driven for the first 4 months. After no success with job applications and interviews, I started a flower business (my dream for the last 10 years). I received brief, sporadic moments of progress but tonight, I've consumed all of my savings and my bank account reached -$183. I worry about my next meal and about the upcoming bill that will be declined. I'm heartbroken and scared.

This is great. I got fired for reporting damage to a vehicle for Amazon. And because we drivers are contracted and not a true part of Amazon our individual company owners can do what they want with us. It’s been a few months and I’m still angry about it. But this really helps. Working for a boss who thinks his employees are “disposable like paper cups” isn’t good for anyone.

Summary: Losing financial stability sucks, but losing your soul is way worse. Life is hard, and people around you can either make it harder or easier for you. 3 things that can help: 1. Find what ignites your passion and purpose. If you can’t find anything, try new things! 2. Find a therapist. Your friends and family might always be there for you, but they can’t help you overcome some of the mental block/challenges as a professional therapist could. 3. Surround yourself with people who can and will lift you up. Either those who keep you inspire or those who support you even if they’re not 💯 sure what you’re going through. The best of luck of all of us out there who lost our jobs and who still have a flame of passion inside, no matter how small. We got this! 🔥

I got fired the day before yesterday because I confronted the manager for wrongfully accusing me which btw he mistook it for a disrespect and developing an attitude. But am happy because I let myself fight my own battle
I work thru a temp company, where I spent over 6 months working for the same company. Welp.... Last week they chose not to have me back. :/ I don't know why, and I can't talk with them, I can only talk with the temp company. It sucks... There's other temp work out there, but I had friends there and knew what I was doing and was close to having enough hours put in there, to be hired by the company itself... I was unfairly fired by a toxic boss in September. I never gave up looking for another job and yesterday I had 2 interviews one of which ended up hiring me on the spot! I’m about to lose my job in the coming weeks. I’ve hired a lawyer and he is helping me get at least what I’ve earned. Had no alternative after my boss cornered me.She harrased and bullied me for four years, suddenly tells me I’m going to be put on a Performance Review with no prior warning at all (99% of those end up in termination), which conveniently would happen just before I’m entitled to get a bonus. I couldn’t say anything about it as I was an overseas sponsored worker, so I kept it all inside until my permanent residency visa came in the mail, and then I just lawyered up and I’m fighting for my rights. I can’t wait for this to be over and be free from that boss, but I am afraid of being a failure after since I’m not going to leave on good terms and that will impact my employability

It's been 9 days since my last employment. I come back to this video and hear "I was fired on the 5th of January" my birthday. Then I get fired on my birthday of this year. I guess I should see this as a birthday gift to PUSH myself to do what I actually want to do for a living. Every time I see 3️⃣3️⃣ I am reminded of what I need to do. I am *UNEMPLOYABLE* like many of us are. The thing is to keep up that encouragement and motivation going in such a harsh world we live in. To keep pushing forward because no one is going to save you except yourself. As I apply to job after job after job, I think to myself...This is ridiculous, this is no different than a freelancer hunting for animation/art etc. clients... I also got fired. The agency that placed me may fight my unemployment. But I saved a little that will last me a few months, so I have some cushion. If still no jobs after, there is always food delivery :)

I think it’s just a mentality we have built in most of us to cry even though we know deep down it was for the best. No one likes to get fired, we want to leave on our own terms, not theirs. Just got fired and I’m owning it. I use the word fired with my family and friends and terminated with potential employers. Be open and honest about it. I just had an interview yesterday and the lady goes… It happens… I don’t really care about that, let’s move on. And I’m probably getting an offer in the next week. Don’t let it stigmatize you. I can empathize with this young man. I also suffer from depression and anxiety. I’m getting help on that but I can tell you that when things are good, they’re good with me. I need to work on when things aren’t good. I’m partially to blame for being fired and if you can’t take ownership of some of that, you need to look back in the mirror.

Thank you so much for your post. I was fired today. Like you, it was also partly my fault and also like you, I struggle with anxiety and depression + CPTSD. I feel like I really let myself down and am really down on myself. Unfortunately, I won't have any references from this job and I don't know what to do. I really liked the work itself and the people I served. I've just had waayyy too much stress in the last 12 months. My mom died last year and since then it's been one thing after another rapidly like dominoes. I got overstimulated, anxious, angry and depressed and blew up at my coworkers who have similar mental health issues. I just don't know yet how to talk about this in an interview. I don't want to lie and say that I just quit on my own. 😥

I got fired a week ago from one of my two jobs, and aside from losing my health insurance, i feel just a huge sense of relief at the idea of never being BOH again, never having to interact with certain people again.
I was fired last Friday and found myself getting lost in thought of how am I going to pay my bills and continue doing what my purpose is when financially I couldn't sustain it anymore. This video was truly helpful. Thank you Alec Fischer.

I got canned today , moving forward
I got laid off because I was getting replaced by a new automated system. I was all smiles and understanding. Till I drove away from the office. I then started bawling my eyes out. However I do think it's a blessing as I drove extremely far and barely saw my family and friends because of that job. Just a little lost to be honest but I'll find my way

Great talk. I just tendered my resignation letter today , being with the company for 15 years, since there is no other option, got pushed out. I know I will be okay even though I haven't been sleeping mostly due to anxiety, but I know I will be fine as long as I tell myself that I can handle it, that job is not my life...

I lost my job (of 11 years) 6 months ago. I was optimistic, clear and driven for the first 4 months. After no success with job applications and interviews, I started a flower business (my dream for the last 10 years).
I received brief, sporadic moments of progress but tonight, I've consumed all of my savings and my bank account reached -$183. I worry about my next meal and about the upcoming bill that will be declined. I'm heartbroken and scared.
I hope and pray that things have improved for you since you posted your comments. I relate very strongly with your words. Trying to remind myself that it gets pretty dark before the sun rises but it always rises (just lost my job too.)
This is exactly what I needed to see. I just went through a tedious interview process and when they heard I was previously dismissed all the good work and professionalism went out of the door - people make mistakes and people can change. These things should not be held against you. I am so inspired by your story! Thank you. I will try to remain true to myself, and recognize my self-worth! I am worth it. I am valuable.

This is great. I got fired for reporting damage to a vehicle for Amazon. And because we drivers are contracted and not a true part of Amazon our individual company owners can do what they want with us. It’s been a few months and I’m still angry about it. But this really helps. Working for a boss who thinks his employees are “disposable like paper cups” isn’t good for anyone.

Summary:
Losing financial stability sucks, but losing your soul is way worse. Life is hard, and people around you can either make it harder or easier for you.
3 things that can help:
1. Find what ignites your passion and purpose. If you can’t find anything, try new things!
2. Find a therapist. Your friends and family might always be there for you, but they can’t help you overcome some of the mental block/challenges as a professional therapist could.
3. Surround yourself with people who can and will lift you up. Either those who keep you inspire or those who support you even if they’re not 💯 sure what you’re going through.
The best of luck of all of us out there who lost our jobs and who still have a flame of passion inside, no matter how small.

I got fired the day before yesterday because I confronted the manager for wrongfully accusing me which btw he mistook it for a disrespect and developing an attitude. But am happy because I let myself fight my own battle
I work thru a temp company, where I spent over 6 months working for the same company. Welp.... Last week they chose not to have me back. :/
I don't know why, and I can't talk with them, I can only talk with the temp company. It sucks... There's other temp work out there, but I had friends there and knew what I was doing and was close to having enough hours put in there, to be hired by the company itself... I was unfairly fired by a toxic boss in September. I never gave up looking for another job and yesterday I had 2 interviews one of which ended up hiring me on the spot! Never doubt yourself, visualize what you want and deserve in an employer, apply apply apply and realize theres always something better!

I’m about to lose my job in the coming weeks. I’ve hired a lawyer and he is helping me get at least what I’ve earned. Had no alternative after my boss cornered me.She harrased and bullied me for four years, suddenly tells me I’m going to be put on a Performance Review with no prior warning at all (99% of those end up in termination), which conveniently would happen just before I’m entitled to get a bonus.
I couldn’t say anything about it as I was an overseas sponsored worker, so I kept it all inside until my permanent residency visa came in the mail, and then I just lawyered up and I’m fighting for my rights.
I can’t wait for this to be over and be free from that boss, but I am afraid of being a failure after since I’m not going to leave on good terms and that will impact my employability

I just got fired and it's my fault , I was feeling scared and anxious after going to the doctor for one day, and since one day of kind of not going to work got me so scared, I then didn't go for 5 days ,the the same cycle of doubting if I'm good enough or just thinking what people will think, got me. It's been 9 days since my last employment. I come back to this video and hear "I was fired on the 5th of January" my birthday. Then I get fired on my birthday of this year.
I guess I should see this as a birthday gift to PUSH myself to do what I actually want to do for a living. Every time I see 3️⃣3️⃣ I am reminded of what I need to do.
I am *UNEMPLOYABLE* like many of us are. The thing is to keep up that encouragement and motivation going in such a harsh world we live in. To keep pushing forward because no one is going to save you except yourself.

Here's some motivation. U still have some time. U r not 60. My neighbor got fired when he was 50 around christmas 🎄 and his bday! How cursed is that?

Take guts to admit u got issues. All humans do. U r not like my neighbor Cuong. He was arrested 2x for his rage against his supervisors! Then he got fired around christmas 2012! Sought revenge and retribution, lost 2 court cases to his employers, & lost thousands of dollars to attorney fees! The misery doesnt stop here. He doesn't go out unless necessary. No job.
