This is intended as a test project to see if I can achieve the results I want in Blender before proceeding to bigger projects. I think this test was successful. I'll finally start work on the project I said I'll work on since June lol
I'm aware there's some jankiness here, but I accepted it to just move on to the next project.

A pleasure to work with you brother, looking forward to compose more music for what's coming next ;)
Fine work as always brother
The music was flawless my man :)
"Darktide" comes pretty close. Not exactly the same, but it gives me hope for the future of WH:40K games for the first time since the original Dawn of War.
@@brandonmorrell4340 I agree. I hope it’s the foundation for a future imperial guard game
Good job the content is always consistently improving. Your fan base is well earned please keep up the hard work, we appreciate it.
If only we got a large-scale Guardsman FPS with this level of quality, action, and fun.
Hasn't we just got Darktide?
@@quangnguyentrung647 It's not a dedicated Guardsman game, it's Inquisitorial Penal Legion stuff with a bunch of other factions mixed in.
@@mantha6912 You can still play as Guardsman only party tho.
9 different variant of Lasguns and 9 different variant of Autoguns and all of them are good is quite a lot for Imperial Guards
@@mantha6912 And I don't think there's any other faction thrown in.
There's like only the Penal Legion and the Inquisition for the Imperium and the Nurgle Cultists.
Even the Ogryn, Zealot and Psyker is not something unusual in a Guardsman army either.
@@quangnguyentrung647 I think they meant something more akin to Call of Duty or Battlefield than Darktide's horde-slaying action.
"The heretics are in a good entrenched position, I'd rather avoid a frontal engagement"
The guardsman: "Hold my lasgun"
No, the dude needs his lasgun. He'd say "Here, hold my corpse starch."
More like "Fix bayonets."
This is whats insane about the guard. Like the death korps of kreig mission when the cadians get ambushed. You can see them CHARGE, not run or walk foward, but charge with the sergeants getting them to move. Same here
Kreiger would run straight in no cover and start playing whack a mole with their shovel against the heretics 🤣😂
@@soundwavezero1897 and die several times over... there comes a point where bravery is ultimately stupidity
Somewhere, GW is going rabidly feral, foaming at the mouth and clawing at the walls, because this fantastic piece was released.
Oh God I hope so, those corpo bastards.
Yes
Hardly. Just their lawyers getting hard-ons over more billable hours protecting legitimate IP. But don't let me get in the way of your ignorance-fuelled hate-boner.
I thought they basically suspended all fan works? Like what they did with Astartes and Sodapops sfms?
@@fireemblemistrash75 They will send out "Cease and Desist" notifications aplenty and the creators will take their work down voluntarily.
Can we just admire that Guardsmans trigger discipline.
It’s such a small detail, but it adds so much realism. So many animations (and models) just completely lack of, which is incredibly frustrating to me. I’m just happy that the MkVI kit’s bolters have proper trigger discipline.
Commissar: You think lasgun power packs grow on trees Guardsman?
Guardsman: SIR, WHAT IS A TREE SIR?
Commissar: A bolter round to the head if you keep creeping towards that heresy!
I really like that he used his hands to pull the pin on that grenade instead of doing the Hollywood teeth pull. I saw a video a while ago that said you'd actually really damage your teeth if you pull a grenade pin like that.
These guys clearly from Cadian
Cadians might not know how to read or write, but God-Emperor dammit, they sure as hell know how to fight.
I was minutes away from going to sleep before i noticed this beauty of an animation.

I really love seeing gaurdsman actually being shown as the heros of the imperiums that they really are instead of just lol xd cannon fodder for daemons and xenos before the astartes can get around to doing somthing.
It's easy to forget that compared to a majority of the imperium's mortal fighting forces (PDFs) They are the elite few. Only the mind boggling scale of the Imperium makes them cannon fodder in comparison.
@@jere479it also depends on homeworld, for example: cadians and kriegsmen would be committed to the point a commissar would find little use or even the opposite of what they are required to do (ciaphus Cain excluded).
Then there’s penal legions, I imagine the commissars don’t get a moment’s peace in those
Can't even express how much i missed the sfm era of 40k. god bless you and the emperor protects
Holy crap the amount of intense energy in this scene is incredible
I wanna see the guardsman tank hits with his flak armor next tbh
yeah it reminds me of that sodaz video about kriegsman only way shorter and no context.
Man its honestly cool to see a new fan warhammer 40k animation in a long time
Especially one that didn't get C&D'd but GW Legal. I swear they destroy everything they touch.
There have been others, they seem to be fine as long as they're not monetised
GW is the reason we can't have games besides rts and strategy. There are only like 3 good Warhammer shooters, and every fan project goes to fight in the gulag to see who doesn't get copyrighted
@@jhenxou4721 and we harldy have survival horror and city building sim games to
@@jhenxou4721 tish tosh. Gw is so very Liberal with their gaming license the only reason we don't have warhammer shooters is because nobody wants to make those.
Also the animation shenanigans is partially the fandoms fault. They demanded that gw start making animations and since they are now in the animation industry they kinda have to protect their ip
I absolutely love how snappy and full of intent the movement is; like a soldier, no movement or action is wasted, and the stylized polish to the whole short is phenomenal, really makes it stand out to other animations I’ve seen.
Well done
Exactly, sure the average guardsmen is nothing compared to a lot of things in 40k but they're still competent soldiers who are highly trained
@@mizzy8655exactly. They’re not superhuman but they’re still (overall) highly trained professional soldiers. Too many depictions show them as pondering conscripts and not you know……….actual soldiers
@@Blajammer you know that there are millions of poorly-trained conscripts in the Imperial Guard, right
@@guerrillavanilla no lol, people think so because of the meatshield meme.
Conscripts are never part of a IG regiment. IG regs are tile to the Imperium, picked from the vet ranks of the planet's Planet Defense Force. PDF is the meatshield and noob wave.
@@maxiejohnson8356 dude "Conscripts" have been a mainstay in Imperial Guard armies for decades in tabletop and "whiteshields" are a real thing in 40k lore. It's incredible how little supposed 40k "fans" know about 40k
40k fps idea:
It takes place during the fall of Cadia, you play as the imperial guard, trying to fight off abaddons black crusade. However unlike other games where when you die once you restart at the last checkpoint, you respawn as another guardsman, this can happen 15 times before you fail and move on to the next mission, inbetween missions you are shown a quick cutscene of a general’s eye view of the battle and the ground you have either lost or taken back
Helldivers 2?
15? Cadia had billions strong guard regiments stationed there. Much, much more in PDF. Here, key alteration. You can respawn as many times as you want and it won't make a difference.
When I hear street to street fighting in Imperial Guard lore this is what I think about.
Excellent job!
Beautiful. Really captures just how obscenely well trained your average guard veteran is.
F*** them and may they choke on their overpriced tools
This is a Cadian Shock Trooper; they aren't your average Guardsman, they're the gold standard to which the rest of the Militarum aspires.
Yes, including Catachans. They would do anything to fight alongside Cadians...
... Or anyone, really, so long as it gets them away from Catachan.
@@sebastianrubin7476catachans use "cadian" as an insult. They consider them a bunch of city boys.
THAT GRENADE THROW IS SO SATISFYING OH MY GOD
Months later this is still one of the best animations I've seen.
animation looking real smooth
This dude is next fking lvl.. im astonished by how awesome this is
The angles and framing you've used in this are so dynamic in this. Really puts the audience in the action with the character. Excellent work!
god I love seeing guardsmen as the competent fighting force they are, rather than weak and expendable
Man, Guardsman being competent at their job is just so refreshing.
there are trillions of them some of them statistically end up being veterans
The punchy sound effects of the bolters/lasguns and the way the bullets whiz and crack all around is so realistic and well done, really looking forward to the next one
Absolutely agree! Phenomenal, snappy sound.
Sidenote: I think those are definitely stubbers/autoguns.
Ladies and gentlemen, he’s back with as incredible work as ever!
Can we just appreciate that in any action movie the guardsman would have risen to full hero style pose after the heretic was shot and nodded to the sniper. While here he was hunched checking for any more targets and only after confirming that the coast is clear he gave his thanks. Good man. Loely detail
give that guardsman a medal for taking out those filthy heretics most beautifully
Absolutely stunning mate, keep up the great work!
watching your krieg video and then watching this is such a shock, like they're both so good, but where the former felt pretty standard, this is just dripping with style and uniqueness.
Remember - just because he's a normal sized human wielding a flashlight, doesn't mean he can't blow your brains out.
*Breathes a sigh of relief*
"Sector is clear- NOT CLEAR NOT CLEAR!"
Just got off Darktide, but now that I watched this, I'm pumped to get right back in. That was really intense and awesome.
lmao same
That las fire is probably the best ive heard coming out of any 40k game/movie
Agreed
Well darktide lasgun sound is pretty dope tbh, but this one is good too
Love it when medie portray Guardsmen as the professionals they are, instead of helpless buffoons waiting for Astartes to save them.
That lasgun sound is so good, that harsh crack sounds so much better than most of the other animations I've seen that just make them with a more "pew pew" type sound
Once again proving fans can better animate 40k material than the animation studios hired by Games workshop.
Your alive! And you brought us an amazing animation!
It's rare to show the Guardsmen as actually being competent.
I think that's something a lot of people forget. It's not that Astra Militarum are trash. It's that they're up against some of the craziest bullshit monsters the universe can imagine. That's why there's space marines, after all.
Like Picard once said(I know, heresy to quote Star Trek in a WH40k discussion): "It's possible to make no mistakes and still lose. That is not weakness. That is life".
Describes the Imperial Guard perfectly, I think.
give that guardsman a medal for single handily taking a enemy position with next to no backup!!
Shit man, this is BLOODY AMAZING. NOW WE NEED A FULL-BLOWN FILM OR SOMETHING FELLA
This and Astartes are definitely the highest quality 40k animations out there for different reasons, well done!
My favorite part of this animation. The GUARD won the fight. Not tanks, not artillery, not psykers, not chance, and most importantly not space Marines. I love the astartes but i love my flashlight lads and ladies too and they need to be shown for the heros they are.
every time i se such high quality 40k animation i get sad knowing that GW quite literally hates people who make em
they DO NOT deserve such talent
A fantastic trial animation to show us exactly what you can do. I am really excited to see this expanded and see what stuff you can bring to the table :)
People often forget among all the space marines and crazy alien races that guardsmen aren't just cannon fodder, they are elite units, the best of the PDFs who have the ability and the ambition to stand against the galaxy. One has to remember that not every planet is like Krieg or Cadia where the entire world is based around military service and everyone is trained for the guard.
Now this looks like a well-trained guardsman! I've imagined the guard very differently, like using soviet style human wave tactics.
Incredible! Well-trained and motivated guardsmen units could definitely operate at this level, especially the famous regiments raised from worlds with a lifelong military culture. Although this would be towards the higher end of peak guard capability. Imagine what Kasrkin would be like as the elite of elite human units. Completely justifies how slick space marines were portrayed in Astartes. Equally there’s a huge spectrum down to poor conscripts, tragic meatshields and space marines who drill less and brazenly rely on charging superhuman walls of concrete at the enemy. Truly a delight thank you!
this kind of animation is what GW took from us, never forget that
Bro,
Amazing work!
i really hope you continue to do cool Imperial Guard animations! Its such a under-animated faction of the 40k universe in terms of showing them actually being useful (not just pointless cannon fodder before the Space Marines come in and hog all the glory as the only ones being worth a dam).
I remember a story (but cant remember the name of the book) of division of guardsmen fighting alongside the Salamander marines against a chaos invasion/uprising, and the guard where like the mini-battle brothers in the battle. I cant for the life of me remember the details but it had stuff about how the Salamander marines would go out of their way to save the Guardsmen fighting along side them, and the Guardsmen did the same. The Salamander marines even gave the guardsmen like honorific mentions and stuff when talking about the battles. In the end, they salamander marines even stuck their neck out an opposed other marines (I think the templars if I remember?) to stop them from executing the surviving guardsmen after the battle since the commissariat (or inquisition?) wanted the guardsmen purged since they fought demonic beings and lived. The Salamanders ended up taking them under their protection as like part of their regimental soldiers to protect them.
Anyway, that would be a cool ass one for you to animate. Just an idea :)
That might officially be my favorite laser sound
It's wild that they're likely to lose all that ground they just took, and everyone in this will be dead, because one Chaos Marine swept through.
So good that people are standing up to GW.
The animation of the movement reminds me of SODAZ's works.
Fast, heavy, really emphasizes the weight of the character and what their carrying.
Shame "we" bullied him out of our community for having accepted a job offer
This really goes to show the Guardsman as an elite soldier.
This could be like a very fun choices have consequences game. The first part when you are charging you can choose between to take cover or continue to charge which you get killed so you choose to take cover, then when you are in cover you can either choose to peak or move to the other cover in which peeking can get you killed, and then when you are in the second cover you can choose to throw a nade or peek out too which throwing a nade would make you progress.
GW's Headquarters Speaker (in demonic voice): He's here.
Cadians don't question their orders, they just see them done.
Bro, this looks like an episode of love death and robots. Really well done!
In a world where you got immortal demi-humans and giant space monsters, tactical skirmishes between regular soldiers like these seem few and far between.
Nothing wasted, pure storytelling through 'show, don't tell'. Majestic.
Hottake, Guardsmen and Kriegers are Oftentimes More badass than Most Space marine Chapters
This guardsman has fast reflexes. And the sniper has good aim.
At last, the guard are shown to be a competent fighting unit.
Finally the guard doesnt die in five seconds
0:05
Some guy has you targeted with a machine gun and is constantly shooting at you what do you do?
Guardsman: *immediately takes a look*
Run straight forward to a fire line and the enemy can't shoot you, and it turns out they actually can't shoot him, must have been their helmets blocking their view.
My man had the Emperor's protection with him, must have been a veteran of 20 hours of warfare as well.
well you're already producing animated content better than GW will ever allow.
I would love a game roguelike where you ae a guardsmen tring to survive. If you die you start the run again. You can have a career and maybe even become commissar.
now imagine a show with this quality about guardsmen in wh40k.
Now that's awesome! I like how they cleaned that enemy position. Quick and cooperative. Not even calls for cover ect they were fluid in reading the situation. Beautiful work
Showing Imperial Guard as competent and skilled? Amazing. Really fluid animation and just good to look at. Better sound design than everything on WH+ combined
I love the springy way the characters move, if it wasn't for the citizen faces I would have had no idea this was sfm
Great work making this small gunfight interesting and exiting to watch, down from camera positioning to the constant yet easy to follow movement.
Great now look what you did I want a 3rd person 40k shooter where you play as a guardsman, and it has to be as high quality as this now
Amazing, just amazing.
I really like that the Cadians using double shots and react competant.
Well done.
The planet broke before the guard did.
Excellent lasgun sounds and slick animation!
My faith is my shield,my fury is my sword. The Emperor protects!
Being in a 40K battle would be the coolest 10 seconds of your life.
The fading heat glow on the barrel of the las was a great touch.
This is literally what I feel like whenever I play Helldivers lol
Very snappy and nice, there's hope for this community yet.
That's probably the most decorated guardsman in existence.
This guardsman truly has Emperor's protection on his side.
The Emperor need not protect those who are fully capable of protecting themselves and others. These guardsmen are just what the situation called for.
It's nice to see proficient guardsman rather than them just being cannon fodder memes, great video.
Remember, each regiment is the best of the best an entire planet can offer, cause if they start tithing shitty troops the planetary governer is gonna get the french treatment
*Now this animation does the imperial guard justice, showing that they are competent in wars*
*Good job friend I will watch your progress in the warp and cheer you on*
👍
I LOVE how you add realism with the hot muzzle after firing. Good job!
Look at that, a guardsman absolutely killing it. Well done!!!
I love how you animated the Laz bolts flying past our hero guardsman
Finally someone taking the guardsmen seriousyl. Very nice. Don't see that often outside of Sodaz animations.
You are by far the most visceral, and tactical in your gunfight animations than any other I’ve yet seen. I love your animations
Very impressive side jumping, however his is in a life or death situation during a frontal charge. Great video short. Well done. Legend.
Loved the facial animation at the end too.
Very nice to see that more 40k animations have lasgun sounds that aren't reminiscent of "pew pew" and closer to a "crack"
Trigger discipline, way he holds his weapon. All superb.
That guy is so good he survived the 15 hour expectation
The Imperial Guard needs more love...
i am straight up impressed by the jump in quality and ability you have shown over the years. Please take your time and enjoy your work! Because the results are wonderful.
Nice work, Guardsman! Emperor's light behind you.
A short masterwork.
I love how intense it is. The amazing musical score really enhances the experience.
I wanna compliment your use of a close camera angle, as it creates a narrow, claustrophobic POV fitting for the life-or-death scenario, as well as the actually good looking facial expressions.
Movement looks fluent and bodies carry momentum. With one exception, I feel that the Guardsman stops too fast and too cleanly after vaulting over the barricade at full speed.
To sum it up, this half a minute short is of higher quality and of more passion that most of GWs bullshit.
Keep up the resistance, brother.
May the Emperor bless your soul.
thats a lot of 3 from the heretics and a lot of 4s from the guardsmen
I know i commented before... But i just had a mental image of how this would look on the tabletop...
Cadian player rolls for the charge, and make it in.
The Traitor player fires overwatch, and manages ti score a hit, which wounds, and the model fails the save.
As part of the charge, the Cadian player uses the grenade strategum, and gets two Traitors in the blast. In close combat, they finish off the two wounded models.
They then consolidate, but the opponent tries to hit back, but fails to hit. In the following turn, the Cadian player finishes off the last model of the unit, and secures the objective, netting more victory points in the Cadians next turn.
