I like how the kriges at first moved tactically and with efficiency even waiting behind the Astartes because they knew it would be pointless to die there but as soon as hes was in trouble they swapped from "tactility and efficiency" to PROTECT THE LORD CHARGE THE HARATIC!!!!!.
They literally went ballistic just to protect their leader against a literal human tank, this is why I love guardsmen and Krieg more than space marines, the latter are badass, but the Krieg are just regular humans going against all odds and still getting the job done for the sake of others.
Lasguns are great against space marine armor unless you're using hellguns or aiming for weak spots, but Kriegers tend to carry AT grenades or melta bombs so rushing the heretic astartes so that the explosives get close enough to kill it is viable. 10-20 Kriegers is worth taking down a Khornate berserker
@@Darqshadow This, the way I always found gets my friends to understand the Krieg mindset when they asked about these fanatics is that Kriegers think of themselves the same way we think of ammunition - how much is acceptable to throw down range is entirely dependent on context. Smol worthless heretics trapped in tunnels with one of His Angels of Death and the the boys in the platoon = no threats to the Lord Angel, follow him and clear rooms as he advances while allowing him to take fire, no objective worth spending lives on. Khorne Bezerker arrives = Lord Angel in danger of dying, Heretic Astartes melee specialist in close proximity, maximum threat. Platoon is to engage in combat, draw heretic away from lord angel, Hanz has the AT bundle to kill, His Angel is worth more than entire platoon. Hence, you get engagements like this, where the Kriegers go from single shots to mag dumping because the context has changed. Only the bullets are Kriegers
@rjhogan07 and oddly enough had they been able to kill the beserker without doing the suicide attack they would. Kriegers are painfully pragmatic, and I say painfully because to everyone else they're insanely hard to work with.
Without brain washing or sth like that the first day they would do something legendary and all die. Not best investment since they can do the same with 2/3 regiments.
i just saw 'Krieg' and thought krieg the psycho from the borderlands series... can you image if the 40k war hammer universe and the borderlands universe just merges? (and totally not cause of tannis messing with siren stuff)
@@maxgregor6858 agree with you there, it takes a long time of training and enhancements to produce just one Space Marine. You’re better off just doing some genetic mods on future Krieg’s men or much harsher training or new equipment for veteran Krieg Regiments. Their morale is unbreakable, in order to win against a Death Korps Regiment. You’ll need to wipe out the entire Regiment.
Whoever animated this did a REALLY good job depicting the soul, via the eyes, of the tank commander. In one sense, the tank commander is in awe & admiration of these strange gas masked men. But, in another sense, he clearly finds them vastly more frightening than the men who are TRYING TO KILL HIM.
i love how in any other universe, the people with perfectly functional ranged weapons charging into the big dude with the giant melee weapon wouldn't make any tactical sense, but these are KRIEG guardsmen so it is EXACTLY what they would be doing
I was always surprised by the amount of IG charges that end well even though they don't make any sense xD. When I was reading it it was always like: -open fire -melee (how the f... enemy got so quickly to them) but to be honest in many cases flanking/flamethrowers etc. helped a bit :)
@@maxgregor6858 Historically, charges against ranged positions had some field use, but were also potently effective in a psychological sense. In the era of muskets, for some reason, men would rather be shot with a .70 caliber ball than skewered with a bayonet.
Muskets are fairly inaccurate to the degree that they’re primarily psychological in nature, due to being incredibly loud and producing a large volume of smoke from the rough black powder of the day, which further means that any shot after the first is obscured. This is actually why so many people saw multiple battles despite living in an era when any wound could quickly become fatal. Fixing bayonets and charging just meant you were serious.
@@krayzoman That's kind of true. Out to a certain range, muskets were fairly reliable as far as accuracy goes. You could at least hit a man-sized area at a respectable range. The effects of smoke were nullified by the way soldiers formed ranks and maneuvered. You might not hit an individual soldier you aimed at, but you would likely hit something if you aimed at the mass of them. Studies over the years have shown that when push comes to shove, even trained soldiers were hesitant to shoot to kill, and that only a small percentage did so consistently. This trend continued through WWII. Training has changed since, but that's a whole other issue.
The last part in the underground trench is why I love Kriegsmen so much. They absolutely do not care, be it man or chaos space marine, they will fix bayonets and charge no matter who it is.
True story kreig trench warfare force with cav and armored reinforcements vs very swarmy 'nids back in 8th. 2k point game on a trench map. There are not words to describe how badly my bugs got slaughtered...
The thing is, they already had a plan, stall for time, arm the meltacharge, kill the Heretic, the astartes did not do anything unnecessary, he knew, he looked upon their ascendance to the emperors side. It is heart stopping to know that they were trained for the possibility to die in such a way.
Korpsmen: "With all due respect, my lord Astartes, we are _men of Krieg._ We are -expendable- meant to die." -Salamander: "Not to me."- Dark Angel: "Very well, guardsmen. Glory to the first man to die. *For the Emperor!"*

@@maxgregor6858 Its noted that of all the various planetary regiments, Krieg are the only ones where Commissars have to discourage suicidal charges precisely because of how they were raised and where they come from. To them, dying is the atonement for their planet's failure to keep in faith and obeisance to the Emperor of Mankind... Despite the fact that their planet was all but destroyed on the surface and a 400 years Civil War was fought to regain it in the name of the Imperium. Many of the men of Krieg are test tube babies. Its practically illegal in the Imperium, however, Krieg gets special privilege due to its morbidly lethal surface AND because its population sustainment is incredibly difficult. And with its Basic Training and rigorous quality check of Krieg troopers, many don't make it past the final qualifications, which includes sending fresh graduates to the surface to learn to fight and survive in inhospitable terrain. However, they're also incredibly tactile in their strategic and tactical acumen. They specialize in trench warfare and attrition. Which is why their morbid take on life, and their immense desire to die for the Emperor makes them so feasible a force for such environs of war.

@@maxgregor6858 I now want an animation with 2 space marines shooting during a last stance while discussing how bad the week was and they just want to go to the after-work drinks
I love how Kriegans are showed here. Especially the looks tank commader gives them. See, lorewise if Guard is joined with astartes, regular guardsmen have one of two thoughts. The run of the mill IG grunt will see astartes as demigods and will be happy that they are fighthing with him The ones that have a bit more realistic point of view on situation will curse the day they were born, as if IG is joined with Space Marines, it means the situation is REALLY bad and most likely they wont see the end of the next day. But when Death Corps of Krieg shows up, both of the above will be equally scared/concerned. As even you cant see faces of astartes, they have some charachteristics to differentiate from each other. Seals, pauldrons, helmets etc. Not the Kriegans. They will all look the same, with no faces, always moving effectively, in minimalistic way. Thats why Krieg mostly fights alone. As deploying them with most of the IG regiments leads to drastic morale drop for every non-kriegan. You know that Kriegans are messed in the heads, if Commisars are attached to their ranks to actually DECREASE their zeal. And for Commisars the only worse fate than being attached to Krieg units, is being attached to Ratling units (where their survival chance drops lower and lower by each day).
The best part is the fact that at some point there were experiments with mixing Krieg and nonkrieg officers and troops. In both cases officers had a lot of accidents and very high casualties rate :).
wouldnt you be happy the kriegans were there tho, since they normally get sent to the absolute worst of battlefields and are probably there to save your sorry ass and break the stalemate, some guardsmen might be more relieved to see a krieger than an astartes
@@heliosjollywolf9552 Considering how Kiregans wage their campaigns and war, not really. When Astartes are dropped in, there is a tiny chance that their tactical teams will end the fight by pinpoint attacks to the "head" of enemy. Yes, most guard regiments are being summarly executed or decimated after fighting along astartes, just for the safety. Well gasmasks as far as I remember were designed to look scary etc. plus you dont see the face at all and for example I have little problem when people are using sunglasses and I cant see their eyes which show emotions etc.
They are more depressed by how incredibly sad and suicidal all the Krieg are. Guardsman: hey man heard you guys won the battle with minimal casualties! Krieg: I know it’s horrible. We should have died in the field for the emperor!!
Yeah, the disregard for their own lives is a problem for morale when other Imperial Guard regiments are deployed alongside them. They are so zealous and raised/trained to want to crush the enemy or, seemingly preferring to die trying, that Commissars are assigned to platoons of DKoK, the only non Krieg natives in the Korps, to not inspire them with more zeal and to make them fight harder but to instead calm them down so morale doesn't suffer too much in other regiments.
i love the look that the Astartes give when the cavalry comes through and charges the Chaos Marines. They're like, 'hell yeah, these guys are fuckin' sick" Kriegers have to be like the Space Marine's favorite Guardsmen cause they just have no concept of fear lmao the Marine still standing just rolls with them and follows the charge while the guy with the gaping chest wound gives a thumbs up

@@Darqshadow
This, the way I always found gets my friends to understand the Krieg mindset when they asked about these fanatics is that Kriegers think of themselves the same way we think of ammunition - how much is acceptable to throw down range is entirely dependent on context.

-melee (how the f... enemy got so quickly to them)
but to be honest in many cases flanking/flamethrowers etc. helped a bit :)

See, lorewise if Guard is joined with astartes, regular guardsmen have one of two thoughts.
The run of the mill IG grunt will see astartes as demigods and will be happy that they are fighthing with him
The ones that have a bit more realistic point of view on situation will curse the day they were born, as if IG is joined with Space Marines, it means the situation is REALLY bad and most likely they wont see the end of the next day.

@@maxgregor6858 rule of thumb never enter a art duel with Krieg it never end well for any one.
@@chrishill3536 Yeap unless you are some kind of elite arty unit it wont end well for you :).
I appreciate the 15 minutes before this gets removed
Well for me much bigger problem is the fact that we wont get new ones. Of course unless you pay for Warhammer Plus ...
@@maxgregor6858 It's quite embarrassing that anyone could think that GW's acquisition of those fanmade animators would be any good. They simply wanted to get rid off competition for their Netflix and now previously free animations will be paid and animators bound to GW's will and restrictions.

Should be a badge of honor I suppose.
@@kilop206 Well why make good animations and a lot of them if you can simply make it the only available animations.
love how this underlines that humans do their share and marines are not the ends of all means
i am loving these guys more than the astartes. they are so human but fearless and disregard their lifes. so epic.
Everyone can be cool with power armor but only few can be cool with ordinary equipment and shovel :D.
There's something just so threatening about a Space Marine being in a squad of Krieg soldiers.
Yeap dont mix those 2 or you can die from "too much epicness" :)
How that isn’t just standard procedure by now, I’ll never know.

@@maxgregor6858 your welcome man. shes starting to get into 40k and fantasy slowly and agrees that Event Horizon is a 40k film in spirit. lol We will fight GW to the death and drown them in corpses like the guard does against the foul xeno and heretic. or...just I guess non violently make 3D printed models and host our own tournaments and not buy their stuff. not as fun as a bayonet charge or smashing some he CEO head in with a sledgehammer lol jk
@@warhawk4494 Glad to hear it but she got rly dark time for getting into 40k. We will all fight and 3D print until the Final Victory.
The Krieg trooper at 2:57 feels...nothing. No triumph, no justification, he's just doing his job. He's killed a heretic cold, a sniveling coward laid out before him defenseless, and he won't remember it three seconds later. He may be one of the dozens that falls in the next few minutes, he may live for sixty years, and either way, that moment means absolutely nothing to him. Just another day in the Death Korps.
Thats the effect of years of indoctrination that creates fanatics. Maybe the were some emotions behind gas mask we dont know for sure but I doubt it. He didnt hesitate a bit.
Krieger seeing a traitor marine: Finally, a worthy opponent! Our sacrifice will be legendary!
Nope it's just called monday for Death Korps :D.
Mad props for Sodaz for creating this, and Shame on GW for bullying him to remove the original upload. And trench shovel go chonk!
I like how they are perfectly willing to die, but they want their death to serve the Emperor; they're not just suicidal. When they are attacked in the tunnel by the emplaced gun, they don't step out of cover until the Space Marine takes out the gunner.
Death for death korps has to be usefull. Useless death is a wasted life/resources and thats unacceptable for Krieg.
Guilt. It's called guilt. None of the DK are suicidal, that trait is gunned down during training. It's guilt. Horrible, gut wrenching guilt.
@@fantochedollmaker7030 Yeap for rebellion ages ago.
"to die for the Emperor is to live for mankind." - some Krieg commissar I'm sure
wherever you are Sodaz-THANKS! you did a great job.

I love how the Death korps came in to the rescue. Units considered to be cannon fodder coming in to make the difference.
-"so,how many shovels do you need again?"
-"yes."
Entrenching tools :P
Just now noticed the 2nd charge of the calvary was cutting off even the retreat of the traitors, nice
Love how nearly invincible all space marines are. Like one took an armor piercing launcher round to the chest and still had enough energy to look up at the guy about to finish the job, and literally nothing other than "it would stop a heavy tank in it's tracks" type shells are going to kill them, the emperor approves
Well they get the best equipment and since joining the chapter they are the best their planet can offer. They have to be op :).

It feels so satisfying to watch. Everytime.
Its time to watch it 57th time :D
no matter the era of war. a cavalry charge is always awesome. i really enjoy the fact that this highlights the military training that they went through. to see that kind of coordination and tactics was great. no need for useless communication because everyone knows what to do. regardless of how powerful the enemy is their resolve to face it head on is amazing. no hesitation to do what needs to be done.
Poor Sodaz, his time with us was a gift. I hope that he starts making animations again.
Everybody would need a break after "deal" like that with GW and getting hated for job you didnt get in the end. I mean I guess thats what haters wanted but who knows how retards think.
The absoulute balls those krieg had to charge at a Khornate Beserker is insane
I come back to this vid every now and then. Still holds up!
Amazing piece by SODAZ, the entrance of the berzerker is why I love Khornate armies. Only criticism is a zerker would never leave an Astartes skull unclaimed before chopping up some guardsmen, he would die taking it if he needed to.
Well Dark Angel wasn't going anywhere so he could easily go back to him :)
Well that was cool. Chaos Marines just murdering all these Imperials and a few Astartes, when suddenly guys on horses with explosive spears charge in. I love it.
I have so much stuff to read up on as someone mostly new to 40k lore... everyday I find a fan animation that was taken down, I discover something new to learn about. Death Korps have such a cool aesthetic.
Thanks for the reupload, sucks it had to be taken down in the first place.
Reuploading it was my duty :) and yeah new policy of GW sucks hard but damage has been already done. Have fun exploring 40k universe :D.
Other Unit: *Retreats after 96 percent casualties, losing all commissars, the General, and even the priests who tagged along*
Kriegers: *Stares in utter contempt*
Kriegers: Where are you going the fun part is starting now.
This looks sick, imagine a AAA warhammer 40k MMORPG!! OMG All the factions you could select, the lore that is endless and pve and pvp possibilities.
Yeap add it to Marvel level movie and other wishes :D
@@maxgregor6858 oooo that would be amazing
Yeap it would but at the same time it would mean that Warhammer went mainstream and that mean also a lot of bad things.
I think I'd limit it to a faction PvP game akin to Planetside 2, but... well, bigger...
Of course, for that to work, you'd need to make gameplay changes that don't make any sense lore-wise, but that stuff happens all the time. They did do something similar with Eternal Crusade, but that barely has anyone playing it atm.
I always assume the regular guardsmen are creeped out by the Khieg
Well gasmasks as far as I remember were designed to look scary etc. plus you dont see the face at all and for example I have little problem when people are using sunglasses and I cant see their eyes which show emotions etc.
They are more depressed by how incredibly sad and suicidal all the Krieg are.
Guardsman: hey man heard you guys won the battle with minimal casualties!
Krieg: I know it’s horrible. We should have died in the field for the emperor!!
@@khairallahdh Yeap they dont rly get along with many normal regiments.
@@jager9198 I remember experiments with mixing commanders and soldiers of Death Korps and different regiments. Check the results xD.
That Khornate Berzerker was not fucking around. That charge through the wall was badass.

Yeap this for sure took more than few days to be made :D
Thanks for saving this animation from GW clutches.

i love the look that the Astartes give when the cavalry comes through and charges the Chaos Marines. They're like, 'hell yeah, these guys are fuckin' sick" Kriegers have to be like the Space Marine's favorite Guardsmen cause they just have no concept of fear lmao the Marine still standing just rolls with them and follows the charge while the guy with the gaping chest wound gives a thumbs up
Glad you used Firstborn, and more importantly my beautiful Dark Angels. Absolutely excellent.
Sure now we need only 20 vids to explain why Dark Angels were here. What they wanted to get/what they wanted to hide/who they wanted to interrogate etc. etc. :D
I thought they were salamanders
@@Bornst3ll3r Well They are both green but it's a bit different type of green xD, plus one are pyromaniacs and one are paranoic.
When someone screws up that isn't from Krieg usually the death korps have to fix the problem

Note: at the beginning, with the Cadians, the Astartes are leading the Cadians. At the end, with the Kriegers, the Astartes are FOLLOWING the Kriegers.

Only now am I noticing that the space marines depicted aren't Salamanders, but Dark angels instead.
Games Workshop will reap bad karma for antagonizing this great animator. For all of those animators. Sodaz was the one who did Warhammer 40k justice by creating this, and GW just had to jump in and shit on his passion for it.
Bad karma, bad faith.
Well its not the first time they do bad things. Honestly since the time they had problem with ArchWarhammer and warhammer in his name Im not surprised by anything.
Lol what? Sure GW asked him to take down the videos but they also hired him. It was a bunch of toxic war hammer fans harassing him that made him leave 40k completely
@@noobvannoob2286 It wasn't much of a choice, it was Sodaz himself who revealed that they were being given ultimatums.
