Great video thank you! 🤗 Was looking for a simple step by step video and this is perfect for us novices👍🏼 This is the 4th time my plates will have been changed but the 1st time doing it myself lol 😅 Wish me luck! 🤞🏼
Great, step by step instructions and explanations (how to tell if there’s grease on the plate , by how the water forms on it 😀). I’m off to fit my new plates now 👍🏼 cheers
I tried heat gun and wd40 and the adhesive won't budge in some places. I would literally have to be rubbing at it for 6-12 hours to clean it all off. Using heat gun was dangerous as it softens the paint too much and if you are really working hard to shift the adhesive it pulls at the paint too much and can pull the paint off the metal.
Fabian Dee that’s why I didn’t use a heat gun. However I have used a hairdryer in the past as you can change the heat settings so could be worth a try? You can actually use petrol to remove glue but don’t use a hairdryer or heat gun if you do (for obvious reasons 😂)
@@proffesionalretard there seems to be a sweet spot with the heat to warm up the adhesive and anything above that whilst the adhesive might not feel that much hotter, the paint underneath will have warmed up too much. I was able to peel the adhesive off very slowly on one strip but spraying wd40 onto it made this impossible as you couldn't grip it at all. Hairdryer is for people with hair I assume? Yeah tbh ripping paint off my car is not really funny. You're a Hemel dude then??
I did have the heat gun on the lower setting and was holding it 9 inches away and checking regularly the temp with my hand in front of the body and on the paint itself to be careful but evidently I did it slightly too long in one place. The benefit gained from heating it before that point was fairly minimal anyway.
@@proffesionalretard I was just having a giggle 😂 The end result is perfect. Do the sticky pads keep the plate attached securely or can water/rain etc loosen the number plate over time?...I just bought a brand new Mazda MX-5 and trying to figure out best way to attach plates.
@@blurayffan66 as long as it’s automotive grade double sided tape it won’t be affected by water. Since doing this there’s so many better ways of removing the tape residue. I’d buy a dedicated tar and glue remover to be honest. Best of luck with yours!
@@proffesionalretard Thanks for the feedback. I like the clean look you achieved. I may end up going for one of those black plastic 2 piece jobbies you see on German cars. I like how they slightly reduce the amount of the yellow plate (or white, as here in Spain) that the frame covers up. Not sure tho. 1st world problems! 🙂
Windex or rubbing alcohol are good to remove the oil as well!
damon stelly yes! I used WD40 because it's readily available!!
how to to replace nummerplates with poprubberts
Yeah, if you don't drink it all.
.
Excellent. Thank you. My son bought a cherished plate and is expected at my house within next 30 minutes to fit to his BMW 4 Series
Thanks to your video. My son and I changed his reg plates. No stress 👍
I came for the plate but stayed for the car… beauty 😍
Great video thank you! 🤗

Was it just me or you smell the wd40 when it was sprayed?
Don't we all
"Now hands that do reg plates can feel soft as your face, with mild green.., Fairy Liquid."
Doing this today. Good demonstration, thanks.👏
Haha!
Many thanks, worked a treat! My paint scraper came in handy for the more stubborn areas!
Glad it worked mate! I think they designed numberplate tape specifically to be hard to take off 😂
@@proffesionalretard Oh Yeahhhh!! :)
Thanks for posting, great car!
It was well satisfying for some reason specially when he washed the plate... Lol ASMR
Where do you get double sided tape from ?
The shop.
Cheers mate I hate the number plate shape on my db9 will it look better with a rectangular number plate?
XxCATdestroyerxX I’ve not seen a DB9 with a rectangular rear plate to be honest 🤔
Kerb_appeal Alright cheers mate I'll just see how both look
excellent video, all the small details are in place, many thanks!
lefterisiam glad you like it, Thanks for watching!!
Have you ever known the plates to fall off as there not screwed to the car? Thanks.
Hi, so sorry for the delayed response. Ive never had that issue. Hope that helps!
Thanks for posting. How long did the sticky tapes last? Water and fuel from the roaf on a rainy day can lose the stickiness.
These strips are designed for numberplates so last for a long time
@@proffesionalretard Have you got a link for where you bought the strips?
@@rvk8402 you can buy them from Halfords
@@proffesionalretard Thanks mate
This looks like a lengthy procedure, I will just hammer my number plates in place with some nails.
recon forsales that works too 👌🏻😂
I like! Keep it up!
cheers!
Great video man delighted I know how to change my plates now
Tasty, I like the style and detail shown here.
The cleanest most sparkly number plate in the world 🤣
Brilliant Thank you.
You just wanted to show us your Aston Martin
Richard Bradbury if I wanted to show a the AM I wouldn’t have made a 4 1/2 minuet video about numberplates

Awesome video! very informative!
thanks!
never knew you could attach plates with double sided tape! But wouldn't it fall off at some stage???
Get Automotive grade double sided tape, it's especially for registration plates, I have some for mine :-)
Even Halfords stock it...
can i please borrow your car for this weekend please ? cheers
Boota Yoo hahahah!!
Wtf nigga go buy or rent 1 dont beg for it
@@Aryan-tz7zk Its a joke
Just to try out the plates!!!
cheers that helped
There is a product called Sticky Stuff Remover which is much better than WD40 for removing the old sticky pads and I mean MUCH better.
Ye, I was trying to do this with household products. Best thing to use is a tar/ glue remover such as carpro Tar X
Wish it was that easy. Everything I try I can't get my front plate off
Try heating it with a hairdryer or a heat gun on low heat
Why do you want a car.....you've got a helicopter, I can hear it..??
Someone who is as OCD as me lol
Apply the tape on the plate rather than the car
Yes, makes perfect sense
Might as well have used water to get it off
Jesus !
After all that, he put it on squinty !
;-)
(Actually, good video.)
