The floss worked for an even harder situation than your demo, where the tape was hidden behind a large flat clock and so the tape wasn't accessible. Loved this, thank you!
Right. When it’s had time to bond literally nothing gets that stuff off except for brute force. And “rolling” it like he says only gets a thing surface off at a time and really fucks up your fingers after awhile.
Steamers are great for softening the glue without the risk of overheating like a heat gun. That’s what they use to remove window tint and clear bras from car paint.
Thanks. I was afraid that I'd crack my windshield trying to remove my dashcam with the "lever" tool they included for removal, but the idea to use dental floss is brilliant.
WOW. Thank you so much for sharing, I'm in the process of moving and I've been trying for days to remove one of my prized pictures without damaging it or tearing the pain off the wall and this video did it for me, I used dental floss and OMG it came right off. Thank you so much for sharing.
This was very helpful. Using the dental floss was great. After getting the plexiglass down, I’d like to add that when the mounting tape on plexiglass is too thin to pull a rubber eraser is helpful both to get enough to pull and to remove it!
To remove that little bit of leftover; use the same piece you removed but is still clean/sticky. Stab the leftover part. Sometime a quick stab works, sometime a slow stab. This stuff, and others, stick better to itself than to other things. Price tags, stickers, tape. It doesn’t work all the time but is always the first thing I try for it is the easiest. Works best on hard/slick surfaces
Reducing the amount of adhesive also makes a difference. Reduce the stickum by 50 percent and in most cases the camera will stay on just as well. Or change to velcro type sticker.
If you put a full stop after the word "fresh", I wouldn't have to look at what you wrote a couple of times in order to get it. Sorry, maybe that's because I'm not a native speaker!
Good show thanks I put it in the wrong spot but I wasn’t thinking the other day. I should have put it where I initially wanted it to go. Always go with your first choice.
I just did the thing with the floss too. I coincidentally have the same camera. It is 4K but really the picture quality just is not what I would expect. It is chock full of compression artifacts and any frames extracted may as well have been paintings!! Anyhow it surprised me how fast the floss got it off. It took almost no effort to get the floss to separate part of that adhesive. I am aware that the foam tape 3M makes is legendary for being so durable. I don't know the full scope of products they do make but 3M is for 3 Ms. They are in Minnesota and do mining and manufacturing. 3M just seems to be an easier name to remember. Try to make everyone remember the long version and it might not catch on as well as the shorter 3M that is so easy to remember that nearly everyone has heard of it. It is as ubiquitous as IBM, a short catchier name for a company behind most of the computers we may be still using to this day.
I have 4 pieces of 10 inch tall stainless steel off of a box side I had to use a putty knife and just started cutting behind it sill trying to get it off the part I have been using alcohol and cut along it with a very sharp putty knife
thanks 4 the good vid. so, u think i can even remove it from the dashboard trim? 5:27 unfortunately, this malpractice still lives... and is done by a *LOT* of manufacturers. :(
Please, how to remove the dash cam sticker from the rear window where the thin heaters are, without breaking them? Unfortunately, someone put the rear camera without an electrostatic foil/sticker.
watch ammonyc's videos, i think he pours hot/warm water on it while pulling on it, seems to work for him. now the residue, that's some other thing. good luck. :)
Take this video with a grain of salt people. 3M adhesive that has had time to bond and been applied over many years does not come off without brute force. Goo gone doesn’t work either. It will only work once you’ve gotten most of the adhesive off and you’re left with a very thin layer at the bottom. Then and only then will the goo gone eat it away and it will come off.
Masking tape is too weak. Use packing tape , get a piece or wad of it and rapidly and forcefully dab the residue. Ive done this for years on many things. You could try letting it set on there for a bit 1st I guess , I've never tried that.
Never knew that was a thing until today. Got my thumb all scrunched up rolling a piece of adhesive. Steamer and goo gone for the second one worked flawless. If you have brush attachments brush the hot adhesive off and use the goo gone for residue.
I'm sorry but it doesn't work that way you can remove it by sliding a plastic tool in between the glass and the double-sided tape easy to remove can you demonstrate it on a car on top of a clear coat
Thanks, Gus Fring.
LOL, 😂 like minds... 😮 Respect to B. B.😵👍🏿😵👍🏿😵
The floss worked for an even harder situation than your demo, where the tape was hidden behind a large flat clock and so the tape wasn't accessible. Loved this, thank you!
It worked magic. I had a very strong adhesive tape on my new Samsung phone. This trick got it removed very easily without any mark. Thank you do much
yeah its a lot easier when it hasn't been on there for 5-10 years
No kidding. He stuck it on there 30 seconds ago.
Right. When it’s had time to bond literally nothing gets that stuff off except for brute force. And “rolling” it like he says only gets a thing surface off at a time and really fucks up your fingers after awhile.
or in my case..30 years
Echoing others here, had dash cam on for 3 years, and this method worked great, thanks!
First time I've seen this channel. This guy's terrific.

Hmm… I have one of those with a scraper tool. I may have to try that instead of the heat gun. You are correct. The heat gun could warp the part.
Thanks. I was afraid that I'd crack my windshield trying to remove my dashcam with the "lever" tool they included for removal, but the idea to use dental floss is brilliant.
Great to see you Brian, haven’t seen you since cnet days , you always cracked me up. Hope all is good. You are a professional. Cheers from a fan.
Applying tension to looped dental floss with one hand while applying minor pealing force with the other hand worked for me! Thanks!!

Wow I use to watch this dude do car reviews in iTunes CNET back in 2012. Nice to see his face again
Lovely tutorial, so smartly done. And great theatricality in the presentation too - entertaining!
This was very helpful. Using the dental floss was great.

Could you do a top 5 things that we in the states are waiting for to be okayed, like side cameras instead of side mirrors, etc?
Excellent. Great tutorial that provided exactly what I need. Thanks a bunch!

Goo Gone can damage non-glass surfaces. De-Solv-it is much more forgiving. A Hair Dryer & a Scotty Peeler (metal or plastic) are also helpful.
WD 40 works great to. And a single edge razor blade will not scratch a wind shield.
Just the video I needed to see. I wanted to know how to remove tape from dash. Thanks!!

You’re the best dude! Great video
This is an amazing tip! Thanks so much - worked like a charm.
Coconut oil is a fantastic adhesive remover. Coat it and give it a few minutes then scrub with a paper towel
Nice submariner Brian.
I just wait for a hot summer day and that's it
love these tips and tricks videos, so useful.
Thanks so much. You really relieved my frustrations.
Great job. Although something to keep in mind is that it is fresh, the longer the adhesive is, the more work it will take to remove it.
If you put a full stop after the word "fresh", I wouldn't have to look at what you wrote a couple of times in order to get it. Sorry, maybe that's because I'm not a native speaker!
masking tape trick works for me as long as you do it in a very high frequency, low amplitude stick and pull
Good show thanks I put it in the wrong spot but I wasn’t thinking the other day. I should have put it where I initially wanted it to go. Always go with your first choice.
I bought a car with that old school gps circle disk attachment and it’s an eyesore that I have yet to remove. Thank you

😂
You didn't dip the straight razor in a rain barrel and bang it against a curb like Brandon suggested, though.
🤣
"The perfect tutorial does not exi..."
Oh wait it does
I have 4 pieces of 10 inch tall stainless steel off of a box side I had to use a putty knife and just started cutting behind it

No way
Gus Fring showing us how to properly remove 3m tape
Omg thanks so much works like a charm
Does the tape glue adhesive damage the dash in the long run?
A car trim tool works just as well, and won’t mark scratch anything.
Depending on location, use a heat gun set on low. It helped me on a mirror
Thank you worked perfectly
Funny, you learn this when you have to do it ♡
thanks 4 the good vid. so, u think i can even remove it from the dashboard trim?
5:27 unfortunately, this malpractice still lives... and is done by a *LOT* of manufacturers. :(
I just use a rubber wheel like a giant eraser instead of using the drill. Much safer on the paint than the drill.
Please, how to remove the dash cam sticker from the rear window where the thin heaters are, without breaking them? Unfortunately, someone put the rear camera without an electrostatic foil/sticker.
Nice! Thanks Sir!
Very useful and helpful thank you
Well at least I know my red 3m won’t fail anytime soon
😂 facts
Cooley for President!
Does this work on a dash? I want to mount my dash cam on the dash but don't want to permanently ruin my dash.
amazing
What about using WD-40?
Very informative
What happens if I apply adhesive to the windshield without cleaning the windshield with rubbing alcohol?
My dash cam is too havy and it's doesn't stay in plase. What should I do?
I have an old clear bra might be 10+ years old falling apart discolored too that I'm dreading to take off. Looks awful.
watch ammonyc's videos, i think he pours hot/warm water on it while pulling on it, seems to work for him. now the residue, that's some other thing. good luck. :)

Thx drop France 🇫🇷
Thank you very much.
Off course try this after a week!
This is very helpful, thank you
Thank you
What if I stick it to tinted windshield? Will it tear off together with the tint film?
Probably, your not supposed to tint front screens.
i have metal phone holder that i wanna put on my wall well this work for that jw
Try a decade 3m tape tanggalin
Well... let's see if this works on my leather dashboard. Would love more advice if any one else has it for removing that crap off leather.
Those only works on a fresh tape ...try that with many years old tape. It will never work.
simply use fishing wire
Very well done video!!!
Not the 3m tape I used
I got 30 pound tape I used for my spoiler and I can't get it off
Any luck ? I am going to re-do my spoiler as 1 of the anchor has failed
At 2:20 the floss was not between the pad and the glass.
“Uh oh we got one that can see” 😳😎
Wish I saw this before I ruined my dashboard!
electrostatic cover first

Just let it sit in the sun and your dash cam will fall off
After 50 years
Use Gel nail polish remover. Just make sure the surface is made of glass not plastic. Feel free to Call me genius 😌
heat it with a hair blow dryer and it will come right off lol. heat it before you stick it to make it stick better.
All things in the universe lead to floss
Heat gun!
Goo gone is great. WD40 is even better. Just let it soak in and there's no sticky stuff in the world can resist it.
Cool
cooley 😎
add a hair dryer or heat gun and make it easier..
he shows how to remove tape with nothing on it. lol
Who else get blistered thumbs as they watch this
Never knew that was a thing until today. Got my thumb all scrunched up rolling a piece of adhesive. Steamer and goo gone for the second one worked flawless. If you have brush attachments brush the hot adhesive off and use the goo gone for residue.
