    This is one of my favorite movies. Your right; Jamie is sweet but she isn’t a push over. That’s what’s so great about her character.

    So this is a favorite of mine. Something that I'm shocked no one brought up is the name of the movie 'A Walk to Remember'. I'm not sure why the decision was made to leave this out of the movie but in the book after she gets moved from the hospital to home care, she continues to get more sick and she basically becomes wheelchair bound because she doesn't have the strength or muscle mass anymore. When they get to the wedding she gets out of her wheelchair and manages to walk down the aisle which Landon describes as the 'Walk to Remember'.

      @@StephLeone The company I worked for from late 2001 to 2005 where we did all the Disney stuff we briefly went to movie press junkets. This was one of the movies I covered, so I saw this at a screening shortly before it was in the theaters. They have us little gift bags including the (tiny) book and soundtrack. I part of the radio group for the interviews,. All the radio people sit around a table or set of tables at a hotel and different film people get cycled in for 5 to 15 minutes and we all ask questions and have mics in front of them. I only remember director Adam Shankman, Mandy Moore and Shane West coming though. Mandy was as sweet as advertised and was upset that her online fan page had just reached the flame war stage and didn't know how to stop that.

    I have to say that I don’t think anything Landon has done is at all unrealistic or setting unrealistic expectations on people. Healthy and stable relationships have partners who respect boundaries, listen to their partner, and support the dreams of their partner. All of which Landon is doing for Jamie! I would not settle for someone who could not do that for me and I for them. Idk just my thoughts.

    • @StephLeone
      @StephLeone  2 роки тому

      Yes I agree that isn’t unrealistic and that’s what every relationship should be like. The part that I thought was unrealistic was him bringing flowers over every day to her house. That seems like an incredibly sweet gesture but I’m not sure how many people would do that in the real world

    We as Christians don't just believe in God. We feel Jesus' love, forgiveness, & power. The character of Jamie Sullivan is such a great portrayal of Christian Faith. I do not believe in pushing Faith down people's throats, I believe people should experience it on their own. Great reaction!

    Great reaction, I’m subscribing! You have to read the book, it’s better than this movie adaptation (which is modernized but I still love) It’s funny, you say in your review that stories like these give unrealistic expectations for romantic gestures, but I wonder if that’s true. Maybe I was a weird teen guy growing up in the US, but for my first love (and eventual wife) I performed several grand romantic gestures. For our first Valentine’s Day I had a rose delivered to her during each of her 8 class periods. On our anniversary I bought space in the school paper to tell her how much I loved her, written in Spanish because she was Guatemalan, and her French teacher (who also taught Spanish) brought it up during her class. I set up a surprise picnic outside her apartment for one of our first dates, and I honestly did many more during the 30 years we had together before she passed. So I think that stuff happens, but maybe it’s a learned behavior because my father has written my mom a short love letter every day since they’ve been married which will be 60 years next month.

    • @StephLeone
      @StephLeone  3 роки тому +3

      Thank you!!
      And wow, that’s amazing! I personally have never experienced anything like that. I think you’re right, it varies from person to person, but I don’t know anyone that had a partner that did a lot of romantic and grand gestures like that. I definitely think it’s based on the environment in which you grow up around though!

    It's funny you brought up the ponytail thing. In the dvd commentary, the director commented that the movie never implied that Jamie was ugly, she was just different. He said that Not Another Teen Movie (which came out a year before this) came out and made the point that, as in other teen comedies, they put a girl in a ponytail to show that they're ugly or a "loser" so it looked like he was doing the same thing here, but really it was just to keep the hair out of her face.

I’m sure you have seen this movie, but if not to do a movie commentary on Titanic. It is my absolute favorite movie ever! I like this movie because they didn't make the Leukemia the central plot that looms above our heads the entire movie. We were fooled to believe the theme is bad guy falls in love with Reverend's daughter. We got to know Jamie as if she was any normal teenager. Other movies that came after this just seem to make the illness a cheap tactic to lure the audience into watching a character slowly die. For instance, A Fault in Our Stars woulda still worked without the main characters being sick. They were just on an adventure to interview an author basically. A Walk to Remember cannot exist without the big Leukemia plot reveal.

Simba, along with Timone and Pumba, are goofing off, shirking any sort of responsibility, living carelessly and aimlessly. Then Nala steps in, disrupts the group, forces Simba to wake up, grow up, take responsibility, and achieve is full potential.

      My friend, actually God is the only one who can make you a better person, and not exaggerating, a saint, we can't on our own, He's the only one who can make us truly love, more than the romantic feeling. not just love good people who are your friends, but also love bad people who doesn't deserve it. and more importantly: love Him. Your desire of being a better person is the inspiration of the holly spirit inside you, but Jesus told us that our "flesh" is against the spirit, and that we must fight, pray to make our flesh obey us, obey our spirit, and if we're separated from God, it's quite hard, for not saying impossible, to be REALLY good people, in the outside with our actions, but more importantly in the inside, don't get discouraged by bad people or hypocritical people in the church, It's not God's fault that they acted like that, there are and have been many saints and such good people in the church in history, and the church I'm talking about is the one Jesus Himself founded in his disciples, the Catholic apostolic, there he left us his sacraments so that we can become one day saints, the confession and the eucharist.

    Christianity isn't religion. Religion says "do this to be saved". Christianity says "it's already been done, just accept the free gift".
    We've all done things that are evil in God's eyes, so we all deserve separation from Him (Hell). But because of God's love, he made a way for ALL to be saved, by sending His son to live a sinless life and then take the punishment that we deserve on the cross. He rose again 3 days later, showing himself to hundreds of people, proving his Divinity. The Bible makes it clear that all we need to do for salvation is believe in Him, and we'll recieve a new heart that desires to do good

    This was the movie that made me fall in love with Mandy Moore. But i haven’t seen it in years. And now it just seems really cringy and stagy!!! 🤭🤭🤣🤣🤣
    A recent movie I really liked is “SPONTANEOUS” on Netflix. It actually has an original storyline and very entertaining! And currently holds a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes 🍅!
