In the book, Jamie is super uncomfortable with wearing clothing that isn’t more conservative so I think that’s why she didn’t show her dress until the show. As well, the kiss was a surprise! It wasn’t supposed to happen. Landon was just really overcome with emotion and just decided to go for it. Jamie was actually mad at him for it because it was her first kiss!
They changed a lot of things from the book like jamie’s dreams in the book she just wanted to get married also landon took her to homecoming and jamie originally asked him to partake in the play the flyer thing never happened and landon did not name a star after her. She never got angry at landon she just turned away and they never kissed she used to be comfortable in this kind of clothing and mostly they spent time together in the orphanage and the first scene of the movie is not in the book. Overall a lot was changed for the film adaptation I personally love the movie more because it gives jamie was more dimension than she had in the book, landon’s actions are understandable and there were things that happened because of which they fell in love it wasn’t out of the blue, plus they did a great job with the actors
Oh absolutely. Every time I see this movie, my heart just squeezes with tenderness. How she doesn't fix him, but inspires him to become better is poignant to this day; it's what a good partner should be. But with The Notebook I'm like, "People consider this a model couple? Why? This is hella wrong."
@@cupcakedoce956 ? Do you mean about The Notebook? I'd have to re-watch to point out all of the issues with their relationship, there are too many to name by memory. From before they even become a couple there's just so much toxic behaviour
This is my favorite Nicholas Sparks story too. I remember in the books Jamie was so weak she had to use a wheelchair to move around towards the end because it was difficult for her to stand. That's what made her walking down the aisle the walk to remember because she endured the pain just to walk down that aisle, and I'm pretty sure she spent the rest of the ceremony sitting down.
I know right! I came across this movie when I was only four years old and I fell in love with that scene. She looked like a princess in that scene, I fell in love with the song "Only Hope." It gives me such nostalgia
A Walk To Remember brings back so many childhood memories for me. It’s just that my mother used to watch this movie a whole lot way back in the day. Because of that, this movie still lives in my mind, rent-free. How incredible. I can’t believe it’s almost been 20 years since this movie was first released. Now I feel so old. Despite being only 20 years old.
The thing about the movies that came after A Walk To Remember with a theme of the protagonist slowly dying is that they make the terminal illness the central theme that drives the movie. The thing I love about this movie is that they deliberately hid that detail from us. It is not even higlighted in the first half of the movie. I remember the promotional trailers then for this movie didn't even give away that major plot point of Jamie's illness because they want the audience to be shocked by the reveal. I also like how they don't highlight Jamie as this terminally ill person. We fell in love with Jamie because of her dreams, ambition and talent. We fell in love with Landon for his redemption arc. We also like how the minor characters evolved in their own little way. Beautiful direction and writing. This is the best tragic love story for me. Ironically, this movie should have ended on a sad note but that monologue from Landon at the end made me smile. "But our love is like the wind. I can't see it but I can feel it."
Oh my god this movie destroys me every time I watch it. It’s so good. I totally agree this is definitely the best Nicholas Sparks movie, I don’t care what anyone says.
Thank you so much for reacting to this! I love this movie so deeply and I literally sob every time. That ending line “Our love is like the wind, I can’t see it. But I can feel it.” Never fails to make me sob. And I love your reflection at the end. I think some people just take this movie at face value and see it as just another chic flic. But it has so much more meaning and truly depicts a beautiful story of young love. And showing how men can be emotionally mature and grow. And I agree this definitely is the best Nicholas Spark movie adaption. But I also think The Last Song, Dear John, and the Notebook are right behind it. Thank you so much for watching it and can’t wait for the next video 💕
This is my favorite teenage movie :') I was 12 when I watched and I remember crying a lot, "Love is like the wind, you can't see it but you can feel it"
Great commentary Stephanie. Love the book and the movie. I gave the book to my daughter for her 13th birthday. I want her to believe that there is true love. I love that the book is a tribute to Nicholas Sparks sister who passed just after the release of the book. He gave her a copy of the book but she never read it, she didn't want to know the ending. His sister was Jamie Sullivan . Thank you and well done.
This movie is the true NS icon, I never understood the fame and love that Notebook gets, the relationship in that story is so toxic. The characters are unlikeable. Now this one, the main couple are adorable :)
A walk to remember > Notebook! I don't watch a lot of Romance movies but here there are in order: 1. A walk to remember 2. About time (this one could be number 1 as it is my favourite from all the films, but something about a walk to remember can't be beaten) 3. Titanic 4. Notebook 5. Five feet apart
I've been waiting for over fifteen years for a love like that! This movie was a staple at my Church Youth group, I feel like I saw it at least once a year for a period...
So with the play, i don't think it really has a plot in the movie. In the book it did tho, it was written by Jamie's father and was a Christmas play about his own struggles with being a father and overcoming them from what I remember, though it's been years since I read it, just going off memory.
Yes. From what I remember, the play in the book was about a man who lost his wife. When he was at his lowest, an angel appears and teaches him that he still has his daughter so he didn't lose everything. But I feel like they made up an extremely different script in the movie cause with the dialogue they kept using I just don't know how it fits
@@amphitritemists4595 ye it is completely different in the movie, i remember reading it somewhere, probably wikipedia or somewhere else on the internet. I think it was a mix of modernizing it and also time constraints that had them change the plot of the play.
@@WolfWarrior623 yes i read on the wikipedia that they didn't want to deal with the whole "is Jamie's dad a good father" subplot to save time for the main plot of the movie
This is always my favorite all time love story. It's ending is not bad cause their love proves everything. Even they did'nt lived together for a long time. Their love will still last forever🥺❤️
I love the music video that is in the extras on the DVD. I believe it's called "Cry" Mandy Moore sings it. My interpretation of that video is showing what Landon and Jamie did that Summer before she passed. It also shows a little of his life after she passes as well. The Star scene is also a fav of mine but really my fav scene is when Jamie tells Landon she has Leukemia. I fucking lost it as a Teenager while watching this movie. I literally cried for like 2 minutes lol. Shit broke me.
I love love love this movie so much I grew up watching this movie and it's part of my childhood it always will be it is my number one favorite movie that Nicholas Sparks has created The Notebook is good but I love this a lot better thank you so much for this video
I also watched Nikita for Shane West. Now I watch other things for Maggie Q. And still also Shane. Chloe from Lucifer! Glad you knew that. Lol your reaction is my inner voice during this.
It's you watching Nikita for me! It's one of my all time favorite shows, and I think it's so underrated! I am in love with Shane West as Michael in that show. 😍
Stephanie, the play they rehearse for here, reminds me of our days on stage. I'll never forget the performance you blessed the world with. Betty Sue, that delicate damsel, a simple waitress in that old western play we put on at the retirement home all those years ago. But, Steph is reading this comment and definitely wondering 2 things. First, is this Derek guy on drugs, or commenting from a psychiatric clinic? Second, does he know where I am, or how to find me? LOL. I'm leaving this lengthy comment, because Stephanie doesn't know who I am yet. However, knowing what I know about her, she may currently be getting the spandex, or the leather jacket. It's anyone's guess. God bless you Stephanie, I'm a new fan, but will be sure to watch more of your content.
If this makes you cry....watch Listen to Your Heart. It took me three tries to even finish it cause I couldn't stop crying. But thats also attributed to some other things....
the kiss is not on script, as well as the line "your beautiful", and they don't need to show the details of some parts of the movie like dress rehearsal stuff, it is unnecessary.

Once the kiss happens, you just wanna see Landon and Jamie in every scene. Wouldn’t you agree?
I’ve seen this countless times and never once noticed that Jamie was literally displaying her book to no one and that just made me crack up! 😅🤣

"I can't with his mini-smoulder."
Smoulder? You sure you not getting this confused with another Mandy Moore film?
I kid of course.
This is the only movie that actually melts my heart. Maybe there's still hope for me 😅
I am pretty sure they were not supposed to kiss in the play. He improvised because he fell in love with her right then and there.
