Jamie’s father was protecting Landon from Jamie as much as he was protecting Jamie from Landon. His wife died same as Jamie is going to. He knew what Landon would go through being a young man in love with a terminally ill woman and watching her fade away because he lived it himself. He’d lost his love. He was trying to save Landon from that heartache. I find Jamie’s dad to be a great fatherly representation in film.
i agree. especially if you consider how close landon got to jamie's dad after her death. it was nothing to do with landon and everything to do with jamie being sick.
Yes and after you find out about her being sick it makes so much sense why he told her to be fair to him and that's also why she told him to not fall in love with her.
This movie is my favourite Nicholas Sparks adaptation. I always cry when Jamie walks down the aisle at her and Landon's wedding, and when her dad later says that Landon was Jamie's miracle.
@lynnesears6254 I hear you, but by the time you see any thumbnail for a movie we’re posting, the video has already been filmed and edited. It takes about a week for us to make a video so there’s no way to spoil a movie for us once it’s announced - Sam
Mandy Moore was the voice and singing voice for Repunzel in Disney’s Tangled. Maria has a really good ear when she said Mandy sounded “too Disney princess” when she sung in church!
I met Mandy Moore years ago in Hawaii. She was so nice and she’s always been gorgeous. Got a photo & got a cd of hers signed. She’s an incredible actress especially in This Is Us tv show & this movie. 🎥 📺
My favorite thing is that at the end of the movie Landon goes to med school and then 2 years later Shane West (the actor who plays Landon) joins ER (medical tv show)! He became a doctor really quickly! haha
The Notebook is the one usually everyone goes on about but A Walk To Remember is one of my favourite movies of all time. Definitely my favourite Nicholas Sparks adaption. I love it so much. I saw it with some friends in high school. We hadn’t read the book then but we all thought it was going to be a teen rom com. So when it starts to get serious.. we were all thrown for a loop. When Landon and Jamie dance outside her room on the balcony… I was crying so hard at this point, practically howling that I completely didn’t hear him propose. Then when the wedding starts… it just set me off bawling all over again. Never cried so much in a movie in my life. But a good, devastated, cathartic cry. Just a beautiful story. ❤
9:03 Sam's right. It is a stupid punishment that could easily lead to misery and problems for others, but the motivation is something at least. A punishment designed to help someone grow rather than aiming tor misery. 13:15 this though, is a horrible decision. Why would the teacher do this? Forcing a kid to be around others but that kind of forced socialization pretty much always backfires, its not fair to the kids that actually give a damn, and just generally wrap my head around it beyond "plot." 12:04 we actually had almost an entire row of self exile tables in our 9th grade cafeteria. There was enough room that once everyone was seated up with friends two thirds of the row was left since people didn't want to sit there with it being near the lines. Those of us who didn't really have people to sit with or who didn't want to be at their usual spot at the moment (people who had friends but were fighting) just naturally spaced ourselves out there. At first I was sad about always sitting there but embraced it as getting homework done and just resting the often times I was sick was easier. 29:38 both your ideas were better as gifts
Literally a perfect and wholesome movie, including the son and father hug cause we really don’t get much of that and the way it ended was also perfect. Happy you two got to watch it and happy you enjoyed it 💕
I’m already sobbing. Not seen this in years. My friend put it on during a sleepover and I knew nothing about it so the plot caught me way off guard. The book is set further back in time if memory serves (I read it after) but this is a decent adaptation.
Great reaction, as always :)) About the things you were talking about, like Mandy singing from the top of her lungs, maybe the softness was on purpose? Like since her character is sick, maybe she doesn't have that kinda energy or lung volume anymore? Maybe they wanted to emphatize her fragility. Have you guys watched The Longest Ride? It's also an adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks book and i really like it, especially because we follow two different time lines, one in the past and one in the present.
Quite a few moments that hit hard in this movie! There’s a couple things about the execution that I don’t love but I do like the premise a lot and I love all the things Landon starts doing for her. Shane’s acting really stood out to me
It never fails...i cry every time I've watched this movie so i don't watch it in its entirety anymore but i enjoy watching others watch it😊 i still get choked up but i don't bawl like a baby😅
i love this movie! i think its also a pretty solid book to movie adaptation. It's so sad how in the book, when they had the wedding how Jamie was a lot more weak by that point and she was in a wheelchair but wanted to walk towards Landon down the aisle. Which for some it might not have connected until they got married why its called "a walk to remember"
This movie was so special to me growing up. I related to Jamie a lot being a PK. I also made my own list of books I should read and made one of my goals to get married at the same place as my parents. I recently showed my bf and he said I see why this was ur favorite lol Also rewatching i didn't realize how abusive that one guy was to his girlfriend
This is my favorite nicholas sparks movies. I am always amazed of how mature the story and themes are especially since it is a young adult/new adult film. Cinema therapy constantly discuss two words on their channel, “accepting influence”. It is nice seeing how Landon accepted Jaimie’s influence which motivated him to be better. He did not have to change everything about himself for her. He was a good person, but hanged out with the wrong crowd. While Jaime was static, she did accept Landon’s influence as well when he pushed her to try new things. I also admire how strong willed she is in her values and who she is. The other two favorites are the best of me and the last song, but I really need to be in the right mind set (which is hardly never) to watch “a walk to remember” and “the best of me”.
Oh no. How could you guys remind me that this movie existed? Now I’m gonna be looking up clips and crying the whole week 😭 Honestly though, it’s nice to see this film get some well deserved love ❤️
I love this movie sm, read this and the notebook around the same time and I like this one more. What makes it sadder is this book being based on his sister but I recently watched this again and it never gets old so I’m happy to se you two reacting to it☺️
Yeah, I assumed it was a mix of that and acting choice as she isnt meant to be a professionalsinger with this just being a school preformance. Like in love actually they (supposedly) dirrected the actress to sing a little worse because she was so talented they worried it would come off as fake to the audience.
Look at the guy in the background in the caffeine seen in the red shirt. He was pushed really hard. He was actually pissed. That was very real. We focus on Landon and Mandy Moores character leaving. Its just an interesting detail that most people miss.
Oh, and the guy that they pushed into the water, that's a clown. He fell in water from a height of about 20 feet, and spends several months laying in the hospital. If I was a classmate of theirs, I'd go to the hospital and pull him off that bed. LOL. I would've just walked into that room with a camera, and the monologue would've been something like, "Dude, you fell in water. I've seen people fall from higher up on solid ground and recover faster. Get back to school."
Another awesome movie commentary! Always enjoy chatting with everyone in the chat premiere! I always appreciate how Sam & Maria talks and responds with everyone, it makes it even more special. :) Looking forward to next time and see what you guys react to! Love and support asssss always! :)

Good thing they've already seen the movie or there would be no surprise in how this one goes. Called a spoiler....and I agree with your feelings.

its worse in the books.... I remember making the mistake of reading that part at college in the library during lunch and crying i was so embarrassed
Mandy Moore was the voice and singing voice for Repunzel in Disney’s Tangled. Maria has a really good ear when she said Mandy sounded “too Disney princess” when she sung in church!

I avoided the Notebook like the plague when it came out. Maybe it's time I watch it
ugh. I cried all over again. Such a good movie
Nicholas Sparks said the book is based on her sister, like Jaime succumb to illness & met her Landon who helped her go through it.
Oh, I love this movie and I cry every time, every time I rewatch it. So glad you're reacting to it.
Us too. I never saw the movie, but I did read the book when I was a teenager and it was really good - Sam
Every. Single. Time.

Literally a perfect and wholesome movie, including the son and father hug cause we really don’t get much of that and the way it ended was also perfect. Happy you two got to watch it and happy you enjoyed it 💕
Nicholas Sparks wrote this book to honor his sister who died similarly to Jamie
I’m already sobbing. Not seen this in years. My friend put it on during a sleepover and I knew nothing about it so the plot caught me way off guard. The book is set further back in time if memory serves (I read it after) but this is a decent adaptation.
Same for me. Def a number of moments to tear up and some real good representation of how to handle things in certain situations - Maria
Great reaction, as always :))

Gotta remember girl has cancer could be why she didn't belt parts of the song the character physical couldn't
Yeah, I assumed it was a mix of that and acting choice as she isnt meant to be a professionalsinger with this just being a school preformance. Like in love actually they (supposedly) dirrected the actress to sing a little worse because she was so talented they worried it would come off as fake to the audience.
Also, Mandy Moore isn't much of a belter. Not when she was a pop star and not when she was Rapunzel. She's no Elsa, but I do love a soft voice.
Look at the guy in the background in the caffeine seen in the red shirt. He was pushed really hard. He was actually pissed. That was very real. We focus on Landon and Mandy Moores character leaving. Its just an interesting detail that most people miss.
Nicholas Sparks based Jamie on his own sister who died of breast cancer.
Oh, and the guy that they pushed into the water, that's a clown. He fell in water from a height of about 20 feet, and spends several months laying in the hospital. 25:40 pretty simple, Mandy Moore doesn’t have a strong belting range.
This is one of my absolute favorite movie. I am so there for the commentary later. Maybe not in live but after!!
Glad you're psyched 😊 Hope you enjoy it! - Sam
