  • How to: The Reverse Ponytail Unicorn Haircut with Reality Show personality, Leslie Birkland.
Layer your own hair when your hairdresser is not available or you just need a quick trim. Brush your clean straightened hair upside down. Grab it to make a ponytail in the upper portion of you forehead. Make it as smooth as possible. Wet hair is recommended for wavy or curly hair. Cut 1/2 - 1 inch of the end of the ponytail for a quick trim. If you desire a shorter layered cut repeat the 1 inch process several times. Avoid taking too much off on your first attempted.

You never show the back of the haircut, no one wears their hair pulled to the front constantly.?

Well, first you need actual hair shears to not damage your hair and cause more split ends. Point cutting also helps soften the harsh cut lines for a smoother finish

Nice. Wonder if the scizzorsk was sharp enough. I heard beautician on internet say using blunt scizzors gives split ends. Is this true?

What is the difference between cutting downward and straight? Thank you.... really wished you would've shown the back.

I think it will make your hair more like a V shape since the hair you're cutting shorter is the hair from the front while the top of the ponytail the hair from your heads backside is.

@@JilianFJones I got a pixie in November. The unicorn haircut ruined my hair.

@Scape Goat it was all uneven, thankfully I have big curly/wavy puffy hair. So it wasn't as bad. But when I went to get my pixie, hairdresser said my hair was all uneven.

I’m a dude and since I’m 16 I’m long hair dude. I went to the stylist a couple times before I was 20 and it felt never good after. I don’t know what it was, I just felt like they styled me the way they wanted and not what I wanted. Yeah too young to know it for himself… well idk. Then the next 5 years or so in my 20s I just never went to a hairstylist again. Just later with 27 I was at one cool salon in California. She cut a lot but at least I was happy with the cut and it’s style. Now I’m 33 and tried this for the first time. My bangs are always longer than my other hair it’s so annoying. But this worked very well even with totally out of shape natural grown hair. And I have curly hair at the back of my head don’t know why. It’s super weird. And the reason together with the to long bangs I had a bad hair day for the last years everyday. Lol I just always wore a tail or a men bun thingy. Sorry my English is not the best, greets from Germany and thanks for the easy peacey lemon squeezey tutorial. 😁🤙 edit the 2nd: this must be the oldest and best haircut in human history. Simple things are the best. But a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds. I mean why did it take me so long to search and look into diy haircuts. Guess I thought I knew enough already and it’s silly to do. So I walked with my quite fearful but smarty pants mindset around for all my life. Huh I mean haircuts. I knew the stylist would screw me over for the experiences of the past, well or it’s super difficult to find a good stylist so again negativ mindset. Do it yourself, but I’m am man I dint cut hair. But man do repair things and are handy well. Yeah but me with my own hair. No I’m smart enough to know that I don’t w at to end up being one of these I cut my own hair failures. Fear again. Now look at this. It looks great. Well foolish consistency / fearful minds. Thanks again.

I have my husband trim my hair for me, so the salons closed do not lead me to drastic actions. He sets out a glass of wine for me, I take a seat on the stool, get caped, my hair combed out, center parted, sectioned behind my ear on each side and pinned up with hair clips. He trims the bottom layer of my hair, then he lets my hair down in increments to trim each layer with his sharp hair shears. He does this as this allows him to cut a manageable amount of hair. If you try to cut through too much hair at once, the blades of the shears push the hair before it cuts, leaving it uneven. My best friend visited to watch hubby trim my hair and she asked why he didn’t just put my hair in a ponytail and cut it all at once. When he explained it, she said that would be like cutting through several pieces of paper. She said she had considered doing the ponytail haircut, as she needed a haircut and hated going to the salon. Hubby explained to her that given her very fine hair, that her ends would look very straggly. She thanked him and as he finished up my trim, and was taking the cape off me, she said, “I’m next!” I nodded and hubby said have a seat. He trimmed about an inch and a half off her mid back length hair as she asked. When he finished, she inspected his work and was pleased. She asked if she could book her next appointment. I told her she could let me know when and I will arrange it. I like my ends full as I wear different braids, so I would not want straggly ends from all the layers.
