Your going down a rabbit hole that twists and turns and goes miles ,,, the Gambler and the Choir leader , Dolly can make dogs sing in harmony … Baptist Style 😂 ❤❤ 🎄🎄🎄 😇. 🙏
@@patrickweber9914 I won't argue with you, but she stepped on his foot, you can clearly see it! If you can't see it you might want to get your eyes examined! Thank you for your reply!
What an excellent description of Dolly Parton. It's hard to find anyone more lovely and sassy than Dolly. These two had such beautiful chemistry and harmonization. They were dear friends for many years. RIP Kenny 🙏
SheWrits, I was just saying I always secretly believed Kenny and Dolly might have had ' something going on". I know they probably didn't, just good friends, so I guess it was more that I secretly hoped they did
What a lot of people don't realize is that Dolly was on local radio from the time she was a little girl and early in her career she was doing hours of unscripted radio shows, and she already had it but it really developed her ability to adapt in live entertainment situations, so when she says excuse me Kenny, and do it again, it's her natural skill set to just ad lib as needed and keep the show going. Another person who had that skill was Betty White who did 30 hours of live unscripted TV a week in her early career hosting early daytime TV. So for both ladies, it always feels like they are just having a conversation with you.
Kenny and Dolly did many duets together. Check out others: You Can't Make Old Friends, Real Love, I Will Always Love You. She stepped on his foot and said, "excuse me Kenny" They were best of friends til the end. RIP Kenny. Check out Kenny and Lionel Richie's duet of Lady. True friendship. Make sure to play the intro before they start singing. Kenny tells the story of how the song was written. They recorded this song together, sang it at this show and in concerts. The Bee Gee's wrote this and Kenny and Dolly recorded it in 1983. Apparently the song was originally written for Diana Ross in R&B style and later reworked for Kenny and Dolly. I really enjoy your reactions. 👍
The Bee Gees wrote this song and Kenny Rogers was going to sing it. When kenny Rogers was going over the song the Bee Gees and Kenny Rogers thought they needed Dolly Parton to make it a Duet. None of them knew how to get in contact with Dolly. One of the Studio guys had Dolly Parton's Phone number because she had come into the studio earlier that Day. When Dolly heard she had a chance to sing a Bee Gees Song with Kenny Rogers she was excited. She heard the Song and loved it immediately. Dolly and Kenny went on to have a Lifelong friendship. The Bee Gees have also performed this Song.
Dolly accidentally stepped on Kenny's foot. She sang "excuse me Kenny" without missing a beat! You should watch their live version of "We've Got Tonight." That performance really shows their playfulness and banter! 😆🥳
This song was written by Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb, also called The Bee Gees. It was originally written as an R&B song but they changed to fit the album they were doing for Kenny called "Eyes That See In The Dark". All songs on this album was written by one or more of the brothers and they also collaborated with the Gatlin brothers on one of the songs. In the bginning of the recording of this song it did not go so well, and in the end Kenny said to Barry, let's drop this one it is not working. At the time Dolly were recording in another studio in the building and Barry convinced her to try this as a duet with Kenny. This just show how good of a producer team Barry, Karl Richardson and Albhy Galuten was because this ended to be one of the most succesful country songs of all time.
Listen, I’m not a music fan at all but I’m 53 years old grew up in the 80s and I love Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton they are the ship! This song is the shit
*The mess up was that she stepped on his foot! That's why she said "Sorry, Kenny!," not because she forgot the words. Go back and look! They were best friends until his passing. And yes, there was a studio version that hit #1 on both the Pop and Country charts in 1983, and won several awards.*
Kenn I always secretly believed Kenny and Dolly might have had ' something going on". I know they probably didn't, just good friends, so I guess it was more that I secretly hoped they did, they were such a great duo
Dolly did a great song with Tammy Wynette and I think Loretta Lynn. Silver threads and Golden Needles. A lot of Opry stars walked in and out on the video. This is 1 of my favorite duets- Kenny and Dolly!!!
The way you described Kenny as "James Bond" and the way you described Dolly's singing as a beautiful conversation are some of the best way to describe them that I have heard.
Oh my goodness! YES You crystallized the thoughts in my head that I've never been able to express verbally. SHE SOUNDS LIKE SHE IS JUST HAVING A CONVERSATION WITH YOU. BUT SHE IS ALSO SINGING
Bee Gees's 'Islands in the Stream (2004)' sample of Pras feat. Mýa and Ol' Dirty Bastard's 'Ghetto Supastar (That Is What You Are)' | WhoSampled. This was written by The Bee Gees as an R&B song. On March 10, 2009 when Maurice Gibb appeared on the BBC Breakfast programme, he explained that it was written for Marvin Gaye, however it was recorded instead as a duet by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton with the Gibb Brothers also contributing vocals. The Bee Gees performed the song themselves on their 1998 live album One Night Only. Peace out.
I adore Dolly, like I'm obsessed and your description of her singing as if she's talking to you is a perfect description. Her singing is just so pure and not forced at all ever.
Love that you loved this! This song is just so beautiful to me. Written by Barry and Maurice Gibb!❤ It’s funny how music truly transcends race and age. I could tell by some of your reactions that you know a thing or two about music. But you’d never know that I’m almost 60, saw Drake and Metallica in the same year and was in 6th grade when “Rapper’s Delight” dropped. Still know every verse.💜
... yes, it was a REAL song. The single was released in 1983. It hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, Hot Country, and Adult Contemporary charts in the USA and Canada. It was the first single released from Kenny's album "Eyes That See In The Dark". However, the song is not included on the digital release of the album due to copyright issues... Dolly's record company at the time, which was RCA Records, now owned by Sony, will not allow the song to be released on Kenny's album now, which is currently owned by Capitol Records.
Oh, it's been sampled. Prazwell from the Fugees, Mya, and ODB sampled it for the song "Ghetto Superstar" for the soundtrack for the film Bullworth. Also, Kenny Rogers not only allowed Wyclef Jean to sample "The Gambler" on his 2nd solo album(Ecleftic), Kenny actually appeared and vocalized a bit to go the song that Wyclef used the sample on.
AB, a fun duet is Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn “You’re the Reason Our Kids are Ugly” Those two had several duets. “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man” is another one.
When i was little my mom and I used to watch the Dolly Parton show. I always loved her end of show song 'Love is Like a Butterfly' but the one that always got me was 'Me and Little Andy" so sad!
This was one of many songs they performed together. She also sang with other artists. Here's one as a trio with "Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris - The Sweetest Gift" all three are country royalty now, but this performance is when they were closer to the beginning of their careers... Like your sense of humor, thanks for sharing👍
Hey AB! Want to hear another great Kenny collaboration? Check out "HOME FREE feat KENNY ROGERS" in "CHILDREN GO WHERE I SEND THEE" Mr Rogers asked Home Free to do the song and video with him. Watch after the video is over for the backstory by Mr Rogers! It's Awesome! Sending love from your Home Free Home Fry in South Georgia!♥️😀🍟
OMG I just discovered a duet they did before he died called 'You can't make old friends' & they chat a bit & then sing this song that describes their friendship perfectly/ So good.
This song was originally meant to be a solo by him, he did not really want to do it. They said Dolly was in the studio next door., lets go ask her to join you, it made the song a Legend. They were a duo act for years.
Fun duet by these two - We’ve got tonight - live . It is great, but hilarious. He had a hit with it with Sheena Easton and she teases him mercilessly😜😁.
I haven't even watched this reaction but it'll be one year next Thursday since my daddy died & Kenny & Dolly were constantly played in my house. Along with Janis Joplin, Elvis, Hank, Wille, Cash, so many Etta James, Billie Holiday, Louis Armatrong, BB king I was raised on everything & I'm so thankful at 44 yrs old I've heard stuff from the 1920S luv ragtime.
I am not a great fan of country music, nor am I great a fan of Dolly's singing range, but I am a fan of Dolly's songwriting, the emotion she puts into both her songwriting and singing, her compassion and intelligence, her performance skills, her ever-present humor, and her generosity and decency: I am a Dolly Parton fan.
Gotta say I've heard this song hundreds of time, and probably seen portions of this video, but never did I notice Dolly giving everyone at the Grammy's a thigh-high slit. Dayum. Kenny opening the song smooth and mellow, then the doors part, and BAM, out comes curvy-era Dolly. These two had such great chemistry. It'd be interesting to know if their ad libs were planned or if it was truly off the cuff. The couple of repeat choruses at the end definitely seemed imprompu. Such a "country/pop, new country" song, but Dolly's crystal, agile, powerful voice is still so apparent, especially towards the end with her lightning quick runs down on "lovvverr" and that rapid vibrato. Great reaction, and I'm enjoying the wide range of music on your channel.
They do have a studio version of this and it was a number one hit! This became my mom and dads song. So every time I hear it I cry because it reminds me of them. They're both gone and when I can afford it I am going to have a tombstone for them with that message on it, Islands in the Stream that is what we are.
Before Kenny Rogers passed away he and Dolly did a song called Old Friends...a tear jerker!
Even when Ms.Dolly is talking she sounds like she's singing
The song was written by the Bee Gees. Beautiful song
The Bee Gees wrote this song & the fact that Kenny and Dolly were such good friends makes it more special. R.I.P. Kenny
I saw an interview with The Bee Gees saying they actually met and their friendship started during the recording of this song.
Kenny Rogers and Sheena Easton “we’ve got tonight” 🔥🔥
Your going down a rabbit hole that twists and turns and goes miles ,,, the Gambler and the Choir leader , Dolly can make dogs sing in harmony … Baptist Style 😂 ❤❤ 🎄🎄🎄 😇. 🙏

No, she sang it wrong…
@@patrickweber9914 I won't argue with you, but she stepped on his foot, you can clearly see it! If you can't see it you might want to get your eyes examined! Thank you for your reply!
This song was written by the Bee Gees!
They were such talented song writers besides singers .
These two harmonized naturally. I heard her say once she didn't enjoy singing with Willie Nelson because he's hard to blend with.
Dolly has the cutest giggle of any grown woman! 😊
This was one of the songs played during my wedding in 1984.
I know they probably didn't, just good friends, so I guess it was more that I secretly hoped they did
Kenny and Dolly had an entire album together!
When she says"excuse me, Kenny" it's because she stepped on his foot 😂
The song that will live forever in our hearts Best duo of the 2 greats ever❤😂
Dolly Parton needs to be protected at all cost ❤
What a lot of people don't realize is that Dolly was on local radio from the time she was a little girl and early in her career she was doing hours of unscripted radio shows, and she already had it but it really developed her ability to adapt in live entertainment situations, so when she says excuse me Kenny, and do it again, it's her natural skill set to just ad lib as needed and keep the show going. The Perfect Couple that was never actually a couple but they had the chemistry!!
Yes, it was sampled in a hit from 1998. “Ghetto superstar” by Pras
Featuring Mya
Kenny and Dolly did many duets together. Check out others: You Can't Make Old Friends, Real Love, I Will Always Love You.
She stepped on his foot and said, "excuse me Kenny"
They were best of friends til the end. RIP Kenny.
Check out Kenny and Lionel Richie's duet of Lady. True friendship. Make sure to play the intro before they start singing. Kenny tells the story of how the song was written.

The Bee Gees have also performed this Song.
Another amazing tag-team knockout duo is Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynne
Yes. “You’re the reason our kids are ugly” is a fave of mine.
Oh so good- “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man” or Johnny Can with his wife June Carter Cash “Jackson”
absolutely... "As Soon As I Hang Up The Phone" by Conway and Loretta..
Conway is incredible
Conway and Loretta are in the top of the top 5 duos ever along with Kenny and Dolly.
Have you heard Kenny and Lionel doing Lady together?? So good!!
Oh he needs to watch the latest one of Lionel & Kenny
Those are the real OG dawgs, man. Dolly with such a cute voice hitting the high ones. Kenny was a true professional. RIP, Kenny. ❤
Dolly accidentally stepped on Kenny's foot. She sang "excuse me Kenny" without missing a beat! You should watch their live version of "We've Got Tonight." That performance really shows their playfulness and banter! 😆🥳
They were such good friends. Check out their song "you can't make old friends." Even more touching knowing he is gone now.
There's an extended version of this clip where they joke back and forth about Dolly's dress. It's really cute.
This was written by Barry Gibb .

She stepped on his foot I think.lol!I was singing the hell outta this when I was a kid.
That song came out in the 80's when I was a teenager and I love that song and roller skates and sang it
Listen, I’m not a music fan at all but I’m 53 years old grew up in the 80s and I love Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton they are the ship! This song is the shit
Two beautiful souls with immense talent!!! Such talent ❤❤❤
- she stepped on his foot :) Lol so gracious!
She’s such a Queen that a slip up doesn’t even phase her! The two of them together is magic and beautiful lyrics written by the amazing Bee Gees!
What a wonderful pair of people
*The mess up was that she stepped on his foot! That's why she said "Sorry, Kenny!," not because she forgot the words. Go back and look! They were best friends until his passing. And yes, there was a studio version that hit #1 on both the Pop and Country charts in 1983, and won several awards.*

Just to add to your bank of trivia, this song was written by The Bee Gees!
A fun one is Dolly with pentatonix covering Jolene a cappella!
Ghetto Superstar is the song your are thinking of that sampled this
Kenny and dolly great
I would love to see more performances like this nowadays. Just two people on stage singing.
Dollys voice is so sweet. But she’s sweet. Authentic. Appreciative. Kind. She’s just such a queen. ❤
In the 80's Islands in the Stream made it to number one on multiple charts. You probably heard it on the pop charts
Dolly did a great song with Tammy Wynette and I think Loretta Lynn. Silver threads and Golden Needles. A lot of Opry stars walked in and out on the video. This is 1 of my favorite duets- Kenny and Dolly!!!
I love your reactions to country music. People truly never understood country until they actually listened to it.
I have always liked Country - for that very reason ; Lyrics teach you about something the song is trying to convey to you.
The way you described Kenny as "James Bond" and the way you described Dolly's singing as a beautiful conversation are some of the best way to describe them that I have heard.
Not just a album they had a tv show together.

Better yet, the song was written by Barry Gibb from the Bee Gees
Written by all three brothers in pretty sure

"I will always love you " duet Dolly and Vince Gill is mind blowing my dude gotta listen to it
I have loved this song from the day it came out !! ❤❤ When she said excuse me Kenny she accidently stepped on his foot
GREAT song and reaction. And the songwriters were The Bee Gees, (Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb, Maurice Gibb)
You really need to check out Kenny and Dolly singing You Can't Make Old Friends. It really displays the love they shared for each other.
You MUST REACT to You Can't Make Old Friends!! Kenny and Dollys last duet. I ABSOLUTELY CAN'T WAIT to watch your reaction!! AMAZING!!
If you don't know now this was written by the Bee Gees.
The song was written by the Bee Gees. They released it before Dolly and Kenny, but Dolly and Kenny made it famous.
If I’m not mistaken The Bee Gees didn’t release it first. Kenny and Dolly did and then shortly after that The Bee Gees put it on a greatest hits album
I miss these two legends singing together. I smile just watching them and yes, Kenny is smooth AF!
I would also like to suggest a reaction to George Benson and either “Give me the Night” or “On Broadway”. Another legend that shouldn’t be missed :)
Oh, it's been sampled. Prazwell from the Fugees, Mya, and ODB sampled it for the song "Ghetto Superstar" for the soundtrack for the film Bullworth.

they had great chemistry and their voices just melded together so well when they sang together.
Cover song was Ghetto Superstar by Mya & Pras
Bee Gees wrote this!! Major hit
The Bee Gees. Period.
Still recognized as beat duet of all time
When i was little my mom and I used to watch the Dolly Parton show. I always loved her end of show song 'Love is Like a Butterfly' but the one that always got me was 'Me and Little Andy" so sad!

I’ve been waiting for this 👏👏👏. Written by the BeeGees. This won a country music award
I love how you described Dollys voice ❤
Barry Gibb wrote this song (from the Bee Gees, which stood for "The Brothers Gibb"). Cool track and great performance. Nice reaction dude!
This song was originally meant to be a solo by him, he did not really want to do it. They said Dolly was in the studio next door., lets go ask her to join you, it made the song a Legend. They were a duo act for years.
Excellent my brother. That song REALLY moves you
One of the great duets of all time.
BTW. Vince Gill claims to be the only male singer to sing with Dolly that didn’t look down!😂😂😂😂
AB....I am so glad you did this reaction video. This was one that I had asked you to do. Thank you. Awesome reaction 🤗❤️
Fun duet by these two - We’ve got tonight - live . It is great, but hilarious. He had a hit with it with Sheena Easton and she teases him mercilessly😜😁.
I was about to suggest this exact thing but you beat me to it 😁
Written by the BeeGees!

Barry Gibb from the Bee Gees wrote this song. Wasn't a duet initially.
Kenny and Dolly singing "We've Got Tonight" is another fun reaction. They are singing at one of his concerts.
Dolly and Kenny did a tour together. I saw them in Denver back in the day.
Check out their live performance of “We’ve Got Tonight”. Awesome!
You need to hear dollys candy kisses. She sang it in the movie Best little where house in Texas. She was the Madam
Yes, song was released on The Essential Dolly Parton album. Love it!
Dolly and Kenny did several songs together. These two were amazing. 💗
Kenny and Dolly were always amazing when they worked together. Their Christmas album is fantastic.

This song was written by the Bee Gees.
Another Bee Gees original. Kenny and Dolly killed it though. They own this song, so to speak.
Love this song❤❤❤ Awesome 🎉❤❤
They do have a studio version of this and it was a number one hit! This became my mom and dads song. So every time I hear it I cry because it reminds me of them. They're both gone and when I can afford it I am going to have a tombstone for them with that message on it, Islands in the Stream that is what we are.
This song was voted #1 country duet for many many years!!
They were the best of friends
This song just makes me happy ❤❤ (and brings back that nostalgia!)
