I’m 60 years old. Lifelong Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris, Leonard Cohen , Chris Smithers , etc fan. So how, how, oh my god how is it that I never heard of John Prine until yesterday? I will never have time on this earth to adequately grasp and appreciate the depth and beauty of this miraculous artists work. I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me.

I'm 24, 25 this coming July. When I was 11 my mom met a guy. A long, long story short, the only good thing to come from it is our love for certain music now, Prine being one of them. I am so grateful to have his music, it has helped me through a lot of tough times. He has such beautiful and deep words, and the perfect personality to go with it all.

I was operating the board when John was interviewed by Bob Edwards at XM.
When the interview was over and Bob left the room, John hung around and
we began to chat. There was no one else in the studio. When he learned my son was a Marine stationed in Iraq,
John picked up on my concern for my son's well being. The next 30 minutes I spent
with him talking and listening are very precious to me. I was a huge fan before we met
but I'll alway remember this wonderful man for his kindness and compassion.

My first concert was John Prine at Massey Hall back in 2009. I was 7 and my mum was supposed to take her best friend to the show but after months of begging she surprised me with the ticket because she knew I loved him just as much as she did. After the show his manager came out and gave me John's guitar pick, I still have it to this day. Rest in peace Mr.Prine

Interesting how in his later years he’s got a Bob Dylan rasp, compared to his earlier sound. Oh well, even with the hell that he went through with his health in the last 20 years, it still didn’t rob his voice of character.
I’ve only just discovered his work but how could I have never known it for all these years? It’s like someone turned the lights on in my head and said, ‘Hello in there!’

I thought of this video… hearing the passing of Gordon Lightfoot… last night. I remember how moved he was listening to John sing. I was grateful to see John at Radio City Music Hall on what would turn out to be his last tour. His passing hit very hard… he had survived cancer… twice… but Covid stole him away. Now Gordon Lightfoot has left us also…
It’s so strange to realize that as I get older myself… I shouldn’t be surprised to hear about people I grew up listening to or watching… are gradually living their last years… and one day they are … gone. We all have our limited time… I guess… it’s just the way it is. Hope that John’s spirit was able to be aware of Gordon’s spirit’s arrival… two great voices… reunited… 🎵💐🎵
    Thank You… both… for the music 🎶 🎼🎵🎶
You are both greatly appreciated… R.I.P.

Rich, I feel so much the same way. I saw John Prine in September last year at Red Rocks in Colorado. He danced and shuffled off of the stage with such joy and happiness and it made me cry because that's exactly something my dad would have done, dancing in his old man way. I miss my dad so much, and John Prine reminded me so much of him in his joy and fun. Prine was truly a national treasure as an artist and as a human being. And you realize how fragile life is, and how lucky we have been to live in such great years for music. My friends and I have been playing Prine songs for almost 50 years. And it's impossible to ever replace a guy like John. His wit and compassion, and the way he can evoke such deep raw emotion with a couple of lines of lyrics, he was one of a kind! Yes I cried too... But I take solace in knowing he's having that vodka and giner ale, and the cigarette that's nine miles long, surrounded by friends and family in Heaven.

I'm only catching up with him a year or two before his death via a Jimmy Buffett cover of Paradise. Between that and Sam Stone, it spoke volumes about JP to me. You miss too much of Life in New Jersey!! Wish I'd had people to see in Muhlenberg Cty!!

John Prine is about the only artist who says "this is a new song" at a live show and it's greatly welcomed. Everyone wanted to hear new things he had to say. R.I.P. JP.

John Prine was the only musical artist who’s death truly affected me, so long. I couldn’t listen to his music for about a year because I would get too emotional. He’s a truly incredible artist. Prolific and profound and pithy. 🥰🥰🥰

My heart is broken. I can't stop crying. He was so strong. I thought he might fight his way back from this too? The world just got a lot colder, like it did when John Denver died. What an amazing songwriter, I think it can truly be said, there will NEVER be another one like John Prine...Rest Well.
