Thanks for this wonderful video, lol. I tried this method on my glasses, and they are more scratched now than ever!! They smell like peppermint too, which isn't too bad I guess, but now I can't see!
Many people's glasses (including my own) have plastic lenses. I'm thinking this technique is safe for glass lenses - maybe not for plastic lenses, though.
They recommend 3000 grit Sand Paper to take scratches out of CD's..... I wouldn't go anywhere near my glasses with something as low as 1200.... Hell I haven't even had the nerve to do 3000 on a scratched CD and I'm sure I've got a stack of AOL cd's around here somewhere!
You need to use non-abrasive toothpaste and you apply (and remove it) with a side-to-side motion, not rubbing it in circles! That's the trick and the info is missing in this video. Also, you don't use a toothbrush, that's asking for scratches, use a microfiber cloth.
If you've really polished anything, side to side is only one direction you need to polish any surface.. polishing must be done up and down, left to right, and diagonally in both directions. Any one direction will just scratch more without polishing.
As a qualified optician I can confirm this is absolutely nonsense! Scratches CANNOT be repaired but only replaced. I wish UA-cam would stop these idiotic videos
Watched about a dozen of these 'clean scratched glasses' videos and I'll save you the bother of doing the same. Do not do any of them at all never especially not toothpaste ! Take your glasses back to the place you got them or another opticians and ask if they can repair them.
To avoid scratches in the first place, you just wash your lenses with water (if they were dusty), but not hot water, because it can damage the coating on lenses, more coldish/warm water, and do not wipe them after, just blow air on those several drops that are on the lenses...the result, no smear, whatever. If you have oil on lenses or they are dirty, not just dusty, then use soap, and the rest is the same; just let the drops go away or blow them away; the result is crispy lenses with no scratches. Do not use any wipes, cleaners, cloths for wiping the glasses; it only leaves scratches and smears on lenses. Ofc, AVOID this toothpaste method; I've tried it on my old glasses, it doesn't remove anything, just creates more tiny scratches!
The whole point of polish(that's what toothpaste is too) is to scratch. It's an abrasive. Polishing removes matter. This is not to say I recommend polishing eye glasses, it's going to negatively affect the lens geometry, thus the focus. But creating more scratches happens precisely because the abrasives in the paste removes something.
Toothpaste is pretty safe for polishing just about anything, I always like to try it on something similar that is less of a risk, I feel like it would be no problem, If the watch is really valuable, try it on the less desirable watch first see how it works and then move up to that. I’m not familiar with the serial number or what the material is. Some of the watches are glass, some of them are plastic. If you were my watch, I wouldn’t have a problem trying it, but of course it’s not my watch. I hope this answer helps.
actually if you use some Sensodyne whitening sensitivity toothpaste isn't that gooey like Colgate.. The Sensodyne whitening sensitivity worked quite well but don't use any Colgate or anything all that cheap toothpaste is real tough and if it smears on there like its real gooey that doesn't do anything but can mess with your glasses lenses and you gotta clean it try to clean it off to see through it and idk it could even mess it up even if you smear it on with your finger cause it can bug you and don't even brush it with a brush that's how you could ruin them.
Hurray!!! After seeing and learn from yr method, I stop wearing spectacles anymore cause I had thrown it away and stop using toothbrush to brush my teeth and use sandpaper ad body rub till now. 😂😂😂
I read that it won't work with mint, whitening or gel toothpaste. Regular toothpaste did not work either when applied with a cotton ball. So much for buffing out scratches.
Wow! It worked! Thank you so much, I just got some new glasses and they had a big scratch. I used Aqua-Fresh toothpaste. I'm in disbelief! Good as new.
No offence intended but this is all so much UA-cam myth. The undeniable logic is that a scratch, small or large, has reduced the lens depth, no matter how infinitesimally along the path of the scratch. Thus the ONLY way to remove the scratch is to literally grind down the whole surface of the lens (another way of saying "buff" the lens) on the side of the scratch to the same depth as the scratch itself. Thus the surface now becomes even again. Only problem is you have altered the optics of the lens by distorting its surface and changing the depth of the lens let alone you could NEVER get a perfectly even finish manually and even with micro machining the optics are altered as well and whose going to pay to have that done? Whether you sand, use chemicals, toothpaste, automotive waxes or compounds, baking powder or just wizardry as detailed here and elsewhere, it just doesn't work. All these methods are myths used as click bait or in ignorance of the simple fact you cannot change the optics of your glasses without affecting your ability to use them to adjust your imperfect vision. Expensive or not, if your glasses are scratched so the visual field is unusable in real terms then go buy a new pair. Its that simple. Or maybe consider coated glass lenses (which are harder to scratch than plastics - BTW is use of plastics lenses yet another case of designed obsolescence besides?) combined with better attention to care of such an expensive and important purchase.
The best way is to use mosquito repellent spray. Spray the lenses with a paper towel, and wipe off the excess. It'll fill in the scratches and nicks in the lenses too.
she ripped the hell out of her glasses rip dirty glasses thats not how u do it at all toothpaste is bad for glasses just use water and some soap twice and dry them with a cotton material and for scratches once there here they will stay if they are severe get some new pairs of glass for ur eye glasses simple and easy . BYE
Only one worked and the other was like hell nah and I saw at the last part there were still scratches one there's so I don't think you should try it it was not useful😔
please dont try this and save yourself some toothpaste. i have a really expensive glass prescription and now im left with even more scratches haHahHahaa
I used it on my old pair of glasses and it did make my scratches fade and gave it a funny yet natural protection from glare due to a fine milky white residue that the toothpaste left on the glasses.😄
Are you really being serious ? It's the abrasion in toothpaste what cleans your teeth . Looking at some of the comments some people actually believed him and went ahead and tried it . Lol hahaha woahhhh Try using nail varnish remover , it works wonders . eeerh just joking by the way , dont use nail varnish remover will you ?
I don't wear glasses but I fixed scratches uses this plastic polish for headlights along with a dermal applicator tool bit at full speed to polish it off. Constantly putting the polish on and dermalling it off. That actually worked. No scratches

Thanks comment section for telling me it's fake
I tried this method but it didn't work. After that I applied the toothpaste directly on my eyes, now I can see pink unicorns.
LMAO!!
Lol
Hahahaha
dang lol
I tried this method, now theres so many scratches that you wont worry about the original scratch anymore.
Kinda thought that would happen 😂 that's why I went to the comments before trying it 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Make sure it's a non-abrasive toothpaste and DON'T use a toothbrush on the lens.

thanks now my glasses are still scrathed and smell like mint
hahaha, dam thanks for that. i was about to try this.
That's hilarious

did u use the toothbrush? if so i m pretty sure that's why u got more scratches. I think
WOW THATS 100% WORKING METHOD .. cause its forced me to change my lens into new one .. thanks :D
No. I just follow what she doing but it ruin my own glasses. Thanks.
Thanks for this wonderful video, lol. I tried this method on my glasses, and they are more scratched now than ever!! They smell like peppermint too, which isn't too bad I guess, but now I can't see!

And don't use this method if you have non reflective coating?
thanks what can i do ? please
It seems as if 'colgate' is the preferred toothpaste for this.
I used close up toothpaste
Using the glasses to brush your teeth works well also.
😂
you can also do this on your cars headlights when they are not clear

It’s simply BS. It just does not work. She says scratches gone because she can’t see details without her glasses on.
Hakan Ozok I think it depends if the lens are plastic or glass
Use non abrasive, and dont use a toothbrush, use a cloth instead.
Try baking soda and water and scratches will come off immediately. I tried it from a UA-camr and it work. You should just keep rubbing it.
It only looked polished because the lens is still moist.
Sand paper ,that's crazy 🤪
you have to leave the toothpaste on for like 10 minutes then let the toothpaste fall of itself with warm water then actually wash the glasses
