I have a pair of Ralph Lauren black glasses that with $300.I accidentally clean them with an abrasive cleaner.Now they're scratched Sandy, looking and dull.How can I fix them

i tried the toothpaste and the baking soda on my Ray Bans and it didn't work. the scratch isn't that deep either.
toothpase and baking soda only takes off the protection layer of blue light or sun protection clearly your glasses doesnt have protective coating.
What if you are using a transition lens?
So, I've been using Dawn Dish Liquid to clean all of the grease from my glasses (I have oily skin), and while it works to remove the grease, I've not found it particularly helpful in removing scratches.
worked amazing for me, i bet it depends on the depth of the scratch, i had a ton but they weren't deep.
This probably needs to be re-ordered from least-to-most in terms of aggressiveness or potential damage.
I’d never heard of using dish soap but I’d probably start with that.
Get a cheap ultrasonic cleaner, put in some water and a drop of dish soap and run the thing once you get home for 10-15 minute (one cycle)
I've been wearing glasses for 30+ years and it took me 25 years to realize that you don't have to look through a vaceline jar every day.
My cleaner runs for 10 minutes, and every weekend I empty out the water put inn some hot 30-40c water ad a drop of bleach, literally a drop, onto the 400ml bath run through a cycle and then ad a drop (again literally) a drop of soap.
the drop of bleach is probably over kill, but at least I know that the tap water (even though clean) is now clean.
I also got a ultrasonic cleaner with "UV" but it's so cheap that I don't think it's really worth using it (but I do).
I've had the same pare of glasses for 2 whole year... U used to buy new lenses every year or every 6 month due to scratching $500 down the drain, this cleaner cost $50 🙈
How to minimize the scratches
I think my polycarbonate sunglasses are trash now that I used the baking soda.... So many more scratches now even cleaned them before and after with dawn soap

These tips are shit just create new scratches to blur completely your visibility. Don’t do it
Don’t try any of these tips unless you bought the glasses from dollar store. It will destroy the glasses. How can you remove a scratch. Its common sense, the scratched area has to be filled for it to go away.
My 3year old daughter regularly bites her glasses. I tried soda, ceramic polish, toothpaste, baby oil.. without results..what else can i do? I ever thought about using hot air pistole

I tried the tooth paste and it worked for me and got rid of the scratch completely! I’m not sure if it was just me that it worked for but it did work for me!

Don't use metal polish on plastic glasses it will make them worse or completely useless after.

Yep, these tricks will be safe to try with polarized lenses! The polarized layer sits underneath the hard coating on a lens (which will be the layer to get scratched).
Tooth paste works my scratches weren't deep
I told my mom not to put my shorts in tve wash bc I hadn't checked the pockets and she ignored me, so that's why I'm even here in the first place. 😭😭😭

You see, to clear the confusion that shouldn't be there, I'm a minor who has a mother that thinks she knows the best way to wash my clothes so she does it for me. Every time I tell her I can do my own laundry and chores and clean up my own stuff, she does it anyway.
Guys just take it to a sunglass place if they mess it up . They have to fix it. If u mess ut up using the wrong cloth it will mess them up to the point of no return

just use toothpaste? YOU MUST BE VERY VERY SPECIFIC ON THE BRAND AND TYPE!!! Some toothpastes contains larger and hard particles, which can scratch glass and will destroy a plastic lens. Some have smaller but about as hard particles.Some toothpastes have softer and smaller abrasives, or no abrasives.
So which kind of toothpaste should I use..?

What about prescription I used the baking soda but it didn't work?
Oh no! Sometimes, Prescription lenses might have an anti-reflective coating on the front (you can tell by the way it makes reflections look colors like green/purple) that may not work well with these tips.
They also will only help resolve very light scratches. If there's no coating and the scratches are light, you can try again, it may help to repeat. It essentially helps buff out the surface layer of your lens, which is where the scratching is.

@@currymuncher123 Unfortunately, the only way to remove scratches from mirror coated lenses would be to replace the lenses. Hacks like these rub away the surface of the lens, which in the case of a mirror coated lens would be the mirror coat! Something like brasso or another polish might mask the scratch.
This is just bad advice. None of these actually work. But a replacement lense, it's the only way
