Dug out my old zippy and my two Abu 7000’s and cleaned them up and tried casting with them and no brakes but bless them they still worked. Reminded me of being back in my teens visiting beaches on my motorbike and arriving freezing my Wotsits off. The reels really howled when casting but now use Penn 325 mags. Cheers Paul
Havn,t been a subscriber for long but really enjoying your videos mate ! On the subject of multipliers I have to say I prefer to fish with them over fixed spool reels for long distance surf casting. Feels so much more balanced on the rod and the feeling you get when that sinker flies out there and that reel sings is priceless! If you fish reel up then the mag adjuster on the casting special does dig in to your wrist on the retrieve, or so I’ve found. For that reason I’ve converted mine to flush knobs. Keep up the good work !
I was working in Stratheden Court and saw you there when I left, nearly popped down to see how you was doing but had to get home, enjoyed seeing the Pendleteque, was my favourite rod back in the day...
First multiplier i bought myself was an Abu 6500 Elite, blue one. Shortly after bought a second. After years, sold them on and bought 2 akios 656 shuttles. Great reels, really are. I now use 2 Penn Fathom 15SD's. Strong solid cage, very strong gears, fast retrieve and cast spot on. Fair enough, aybe wouldnt do very well on real rough ground, but i dont fish in that sort of ground so doesnt matter a jot. Double up well for uptiding if my usual reel (a swedish Abu 7000) goes up the spout.
just 2 IMPORTANT fundamentals you are doing wrong, when u swing out with your right hand LEAVE IT WHERE IT IS (don't pull back) push down/out with your left to swing back lead( so both arms are almost fully outstretched ) as you begin your cast, when you turn look up higher (your trying to punch a hole in the clouds) all i can say is try to leave the rod behind for as long as possible, from start to finish (this will give you a bigger arc and double the amount of pull down with your left hand as you punch/pull & will add 30-50 yards immediately ) you can obviously cast, i am sure this would be how you did it in the past !! Great filming by the way, glad to be on this journey with you !!
@@SEAFISHINGwithCJ because the filming was so good, its easy to point out flaws, where as sometimes, when you try to work it out for yourself, things can easily go from bad to worst, before you eventually get there !! (its only the fact you mentioned, "if anybody has any advice" ) I watched it a number of times & knew you would realize straight away where i was coming from !!
@@andrewleeson1955 i agree, and thanks for your comments , remember my shaolin temple master tell me, "grasshopper , at this point you must give the rod away" 🙎♀️ just i have so many bad habbits, going to be a while and lots of practice, i used to go to the beach with a set of mackie feathers, just to practice my cast, i even caught a mackeral in March doing that. 😀
Thats a tough one, Im guessing that allowing for inflation they were probably more expensive then , and whats more then I struggled to find the money, there are far more options now and a much bigger range of prices, also we werent being flooded by chinese manufactured goods then.
Hi chris enjoyed that matey. Chris what distance did you get off the Penn with the mag on full? And did u have to thumb it with the mag on full. Cheers all the best from GY. Hi to Billy bob.
The more you put the brakes on the more it reduces the distance of your cast, I think all reels over run, if you let them. It is a trade off. And a matter of smooth casting.
Great, it makes a great platform on your tripod for baiting up, and keeps your bait out of the reach of dogs. Im going to put som tape on my tripod legs to stop it sliding also thinking about ways to insulate the compartments to keep frozen baits frozen. . But its a great idea. But a bit expensive for what it is.
I know , F*&^%ing unbelievable , they would be the first to complain if their pooch ate a bait with a hook in it, they werent particularly observing the 2ms rule, and Im betting they were nt local so had travelled to be there. That was the first day I have been fishing since lock down , as I self isolated and iv waited until 2 weeks after having the jab , and that kind of demonstrates why.

Another entertaining video Chris, nice conger mate. 👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣
Thanks Glen.
Very enjoyable film cj
Thanks
@@SEAFISHINGwithCJ I love using multiplier reels they just seem proper for sea fishing
@@philipalbon3192 yes i agree. Definitely im back using them , loving my 2 Penns.

i suppose I was getting 150 ms, on the best casts some werent so good and yes you still have to thumb it
Does the casting special still over run with the msg on full? As it’s not ment too?

Where abouts are you fishing 🎣
Seaford beach, my local, now we can travel ,I will be travelling more
@@SEAFISHINGwithCJ That is certainly one of the beaches I will try this year👍
Multipliers are hassle. 15ft rod with a fixed spool is where its at.
Each to his own.
Fixed spool is for learners 😂

dog walkers letting their beasts run around your feet while you've got a conger hahaha how stupid can they be
