i like your channel. you don't just fish you teach as well. i haven't much idea of how to use a multiplier reel but i'm hoping i'll learn more over time.
Hi CJ I see your trusted furry friend is helping you. Great video and when I first started using multipliers 40 odd years ago thought they were the devils handiwork and many birds nests later finally got the hang of them cheers Paul
Thanks for the video, CJ. I recently bought the Fathom II DSCS for heavy ground. I like it, but do prefer the feel of the slightly smaller 6500 mag. I do like the 16-click mag brakes though. I'm teaching myself the pendulum cast, and it's going quite well. It's nice to have the option of longer casts.
I gave up on the smaller reels a while back now. Had a pair of akios shuttles that i brought to replace two original 6500 elites which went in the tackle box as spares. Then i brought a 515mag2 when they came out and have since sold the shuttles and abus, and treated myself to 2 Fathom 12SD Mags and a Fathom 15SD which doubles up as an uptide reel. Wouldnt go back to abu or akios reels at all. Cast just as well as a 6500 but so much more hardwearing on the retrieve. Bigger gears, more bearings, rigid one piece frame.
Couple of friends went for the 525 mag 4. 1 of them had a couple of problems with it though. Something to do with gears and main input shaft moving and rubbing due to plastic bearings supporting part of the drive train, made with not so good tolerances. Glad i went for the Fathoms instead (have got no time for abu reels now) as i wanted reels that double up for uptiding so wanted a bit more hardwearing with nice big gears.
Cj I have a 525 mag4 its smooth as any thing love your old ziplexx rod,
You make brilliant videos I watch em all the time
Thanks 👍 Glad you like them, Im currently editing, my next it should be out soon.

Thanks, and i prefer multipliers but they can be very unforgiving if you dont handle them correctly
