@SEAFISHINGwithCJ you are welcome
@@SEAFISHINGwithCJ 👍👍
Varied content and all very enjoyable thanks Chris, yeah I’m good for 3 last casts generally ! 😎🎣
I always used to say a cast is 3 chucks. Never catch anything with those chucks so I don't know why I do it.
Cheers for another vid
Thanks Carl. Thanks for your support. I'm going on the beach tonight, think it will be cold.
@SEAFISHINGwithCJ yes am bk out for a early morning 4.10 high water . We still got frost on the ground now in this dinner time sun Chris. Long John's are bk out bigstylo lol. All the best.
Nice one chris can you catch on day light
Done well cj 😊
Thanks mate it was still a relaxing evening.
One day a Squid a chuck and the next nothing, you did well to catch at all on this day/night. Well done Chris.
That's how it is, it would be boring if it was easy.
That night already seems like an eternity away doesn’t it now 😢 But such a fun and peaceful way of fishing I think, been really enjoyable. Nice watch mate.
Yes mate, it was , can't wait for the spring run now, going to try fishing off the beach Thursday night with baits high is at 2130 if you want to drop by for a chat.
No one ever shows the unhooking of these, so, my question is, how easy and how do you unhook them from the jig?
Generally they aren't hard to unhook. Just push the jig in the opposite way to the way it was retrieved and they just come off, hence the reason you mustn't give them slack line when you are retrieving them, if that makes sense, there are no barbs on the spikes, so usually they just drop off.
Keep changing the colour of jig..pink, orange seems to work best in UK waters. Also, a jig with a rattle can make a difference. If you're using a luminous jig charge it for a few seconds using UV light. Hope this tips will help you catch more squid. I'm waiting for the Spring squid run.
Thanks, looking forward to spring.
Nevermind you can't catch plenty every time
That's fishing (squidding)
Where are you fishing sir ?
on the south coast
Lol
No cake! with cake you would have made the top three
Yes I know. I will remember next time.
Well done Chris. Looked like a decent day, especially with a bit of sunshine at the end 🙂
Bit different to this weekend for sure.
@@SEAFISHINGwithCJ not out on the boat today? 😁 Nice steady mid 50s mph breeze. Not yet seen a gust above 68.
@@mikeburgess9617might go down to the Marina and make sure it is still there.
Great video Chris, I am moving down to the south coast near Seaford so I am very keen to learn how to approach the sea fishing and videos like yours really helps. Keep it going and thanks.
That's where I live, give me a shout when you get here.
@@SEAFISHINGwithCJ I will send you a message Chris once we are down in Seaford. I coach course fishing, but I am still very new to sea fishing. So any tips would be really handy once I start fishing down there. Thanks Simon
Enjoyed the video and well done on the catches.
👍
Hi Chris you ok pal . Nice one for the vid to watch again. Well done in the match no blank. All the best from G.Y
Thanks Carl it was a nice day. The Tony's tackle video will be out soon, just putting the finishing touches to it.
Aways welcome to come down Cornwall again on the giltheads CJ im sure i can find you a few, had loads this year from 5lb to 7lb from the shore, and my best two this year 9lb 14oz and 10lb 9oz, pm me if your keen to try 😊
Mate, I am definitely up for that, I will PM you, if I can work out how
Great video nice to see you fishing the match Chris and catching some fish. Did you use your new Akios multiplier and how did you get on with it ?👍🐟
Thanks mate, I did indeed use my akios reel, and it was lovely, just need to relearn how to cast, I'm very rusty.
The sardines that people catch are actually smelts, small herring are different.
Thanks for your comment, but that's not strictly true, they have fished for sardines in Cornwall for centuries, but until lately called them Pilchards, they are a small member of the herring family, and they are starting to show up here. Smelt are quite different, a great Pike bait, and they smell of cucumbers bizarrely . I used to catch them in a cast net on the coast here.
Great viewing, nice to see you enjoying a match. Well fished Chris.
Cheers mate. 👍
Why do you walk further along beach to cast cj
because the tide is running quite hard from right to left, also need a flat area on the beach to do an off the ground cast
Why don't you youse a fix spool reel for beach casting to help you to cast further
multiplier casts further than a fixed spool
That depends on who is casting it
Whats the squid months chris
late september to mid November, and then there is a run in the spring
Love your bucket CJ
it was on my list
I bought it the same week it released, loved it since. I use the light, even when it's not needed.
I agree I love mine, it is so easy to use
😡 Hat to turn off could not hand dog
Sorry about that, he's a dog so doesn't follow direction well. He was enjoying himself. Mute the volume
Sorry mate had to turn off half way through because your dog's constant whining, very annoying.
Sorry about that, you could have turned the volume down, he was enjoying himself.
Hi CJ, another great video. I don't usually comment on You Tube video content but personally I was more than a little disappointed on your decision to use that small Pollack as Conger bait. Pout, Mackerel, Scad, Squid yes but Pollack? come on as the commercials are currently banned from landing them we on the charter boat I use out of Plymouth have a self imposed 50cm limit on keeping them, and yes Bertie barking was a slight distraction. Notwithstanding this I am a subscriber as I enjoy your videos and will remain so, enjoy your Dad dancing when you catch the target species.
Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately whatever I do I can't please everyone. The size limit for Landing pollack is 30cm and the fish was more than that. Unfortunately pollack often suffer from a barometric injury when being brought up from the deep. This fish would not have survived being returned, hence my decision to use it as bait.. Generally I'm a big advocate of catching and release and commend you for your self imposed size limit.
@@SEAFISHINGwithCJ Hi CJ,thanks and understand re barometric injury just not put across in the video hence my comment. Agree would have done the same in the circumstances.
@@bfg45us I thought you would understand if I explained not everyone would.
my pb landed conger is 33lb,, on a boat
Nice fish.
Great underwater footage, again, Chris. Amazing number of bream still around, shame you didn't have smaller hooks/baits, you could have flled the freezer, if there's any room with all the squid in there !
Lol. Tbh I try not to freeze fish, I'd rather eat them fresh. But I'm definitely going out next week for some if the weather holds
Fantastic as usual fun to watch Thank you for sharing 😀
Hey Kristof. How are you?
Good to see the squid being caught on the beach and on the boat. Interesting underwater footage. 👍
👍
Were where you catching them from the shore ...... And do you catch them from anywhere . . Or is it a secret ...... Not being nosey but tell me everything 😁🐙
Think they are all along the south coast from steep shingle beach.top of the tide after dark, water needs to be reasonably clear.
Thought hey mostly come from the piers and harbours but nice to know that they in most places on South coast I get me jigs out 🐙 caught a few cuttles on bait in spring ....🐙🐙 thanks for info 🐙🐙
Well done Chris and Steve nice few fish and squid there 🎉
👍
Brilliant 😊
👍
Great underwater shots, Chris. Seeing how your bait was being attacked, the background music should have been the Sex Pistols, featuring squid vicious. Bertie seems to be enjoying life at sea.
He is. Just got to keep him away from the hooks.
Hi CJ, followed your recipe last night for the squid we caught. Fantastic mate, easy and quick. Everyone loved it. 👍
It is so tasty.
Excellent as always and your dog is just so cute.
When he is good, he's very very good, but when he's bad he is wicked 😅
Boats looking good, and good to see you out fishing.
It's been one of those years, just got the boat sorted, and there are windows in the weather and iv now got COVID, another week wasted.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video - for the comedy contents - how NOT to cook squid ! Squid does NOT need tenderising - uniquely unlike octopus squid is naturally tender as is cuttle. Milk and salt is just bonkers - people that do not like fishy flavours shouldn't eat fish ! Squid should be eaten with tempura batter - this is classically a light batter - EGG FREE !!!! The secret successful ingrediant is very cold fizzy liquid... anything - ie sparkling mineral water, beer, tonic water etc - as long as it is fridge cold - these are the ingrediants for a top notch tempura;- 85g of plain flour, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp sugar, 200ml of sparkling water, chilled ! You (with the greatest of respect - are a million miles away from what should be done !). The reason tempura batter is used is because it is very light and allows the sea food to 'SING' it's flavours. Many people mistakingly use egg and this does 2 things wrong ; - it's thick coat stops the sea food from cooking(especially cuttle) and adds a greasy thick distateful coating/flavour. A freebee of genius for you - good luck my friends !
Thanks for your input. Some squid are naturally tender, some not. I'm only repeating what the author of the recipe says re the fishy taste in the hope that some who would be reluctant might give it a try. The squid were delicious the way I cooked them . I was presenting the simplest method I could find. I will give your tempura batter a try. I'm glad I could give you a laugh.
Cracking light, been using one for a few trips. The second setting, flood light/soft light is something else and is adequate for any fishing trip. As you say the toggle switch between light modes and the memory it has for staying on a selected light mode is a game changer. Fishing here on the west wales coast can be demanding at times and this light ticks all the boxes and certainly light ups the area you are fishing. Some saying its OTT and too powerful I disagree, you can never have too much light and you cant put a price on having a decent light especially if your fishing a lot during the winter months etc . The headlight is worth every penny. Good review CJ, tightlines 🎣
Thanks mate I fully agree on everything you have said. My experience of cheap torches is the make lots of claims that just aren't true, and they let you down. Tempted to buy some of the cheap alternatives and do a comparison.
I got the hp30r love it
👍
£260. Fecking hell. Look at olight. Much easier to use. Less buttons. Very bright
Hey go with what works for you, I know if I was still lamping, I'd use the Fenix, not seen one better.
I wouldn't fancy the weight of that on my head all night. I have an exact copy of the Fenix HMR 65M you demonstrated made by a company called Sofirn. Bought it from Amazon for £35 (Sofirn HS20) and its as good as the Fenix for far far less money.
Just had a look, on Amazon I think the price has gone up a bit, but still half the price of the Fenix. Tempted to buy one and do a comparison review. What do you think?
Sorry mate. Price must have gone up on Amazon recently, however It’s less than £27 delivered direct from Sofirn website if you want one. I recommend you order the SFT40 version. The floodlight LED on the headtorch is a warm colour and easier on the eyes. The XHP50 floodlight lens is a touch brighter but a cold white light. I love mine and don’t think you’d be disappointed
I always love watching your videos CJ, Including this one, But I just dont get how much the Fenix HP35R costs, I get the same amount of lumens, brightness and light coverage from a headlight that I paid £20 from a well known site that rhymes with Sea-Bay and it uses the exact same battery as the Fenix. I honestly think you are paying for the brand name, rather than the quality of the headlight. - L C
Can you send me the link. I'd be interested to check that out.
@@SEAFISHINGwithCJhe ever send you that link?
Ты ошибаешься😂, здесь ты покупаешь качество и вместе с ним бренд Феникс, купил себе 35 он потрясающий и стоит своих денег.
I was using fenix when they only done a torch, years on I can honestly say, it’s the best, compact and brightest I ever had.
👍
The smaller one is all I need. I have a variant of it. The Shadowmaster. Same as yours only the smaller light is a red light.
Nice one.
They need to send one to Big Clive for testing and a tear down, his current daily use head torch is a Core CLH200 with its IR switching and no annoying flash setting.
👍
Love the flood light better but use the spot light for packing gear away and not lefted any thing on beach
So many uses
£228.99 i could not spend that sort of money.
For me it is worth every penny.
